Know your knitting ABCs!
While knitting may not be as effortless as saying your ABCs, this fun print easily reveals so many exciting things in knitting from A to Z.
Knitting Hallstatt,Austria. This town seems so beautiful and quaint!
https://etsy.me/37fUNwc
So... I may have just designed a whole line of knitting themed prints and artwork for my Etsy shop. Not sure if there are many knitters interested in it, but I really love how everything turned out! More pictures to follow.
This whimsical print demonstrates that knitting can be young, vibrant, and magical. The original illustration was created using a mixture of
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Let’s take this crazy time in the world to draw closer to God. He is in control no matter how others may panic; God has us right where He wants us. Where you are is where He wants you to be. Rest in that knowledge today. With that said, let’s work hard during this time of life to trust him and enjoy the gifs he’s given us. Knit if you love to knit, paint if you love art, and write if you have something to say. Let us pour out our hearts to God through our special talents.

“I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages.” -Charles Spurgeon .
. I recently completed this painting for a college watercolor class that I am currently taking. This quote by Spurgeon was the inspiration for the painting as I’ve really been struggling with trusting God’s timing lately. I’ve had a hard time finding likeminded Christian students at college. Honestly, I have not found any...yet. Classes are hard in the sense that I am so completely different than others, and I’m really struggling to make any meaningful connections. I am so sad at how others live without God in their lives; it breaks my heart. This quote is just an example of what I believe God wants of me in this moment though. I need to fully lean on Him because “He is my rock and my salvation”. I think the only thing God is asking of me right now is to grow closer to Him, and I am right where I need to be for Him to work through me. Hopefully this post can help someone else out there struggling in college. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone, and there are other Christians attempting to navigate their way through a secular world with God as their guide. Don’t give up! Don’t change who you are for the world to accept you! It’s hard, trust me I know. I might not know who you are, but just remember that you are not alone. There are others fighting for their faith at school, work, and in the world every day, even if you don’t see them. .
I just love this illustration! It makes me so happy. Would love to see this in a children’s book some day! ☺️
More to come on my illustrating/drawing every day of 2020.
I love your art! I love watercolor and knitting, so your paintings are really cool to me!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your compliment. I’m hoping to make some more knit themed paintings soon.
Day 9,10,11- January 9-11: WINDMILLS,AN OWL ,& A BOAT
.
.
Because I had some extra time today I though I would update my recent daily illustrations. I’m torn as to wether the owl or windmills are my favorite. I think the owl is the cutest, but I really enjoyed creating the monochrome windmills. Comment your favorite!
.
Day 8- January 8,2020: BUILDING CASTLES 🏰
.
.
For some reason I used to think that I was cheating by adding pen to my watercolor. I guess I thought my painting should be able to stand on its own without dark lines. Because of this rule I stopped using pens. I am breaking this ridiculous rule I have created for myself though. I am going to practice adding pen to my watercolor because I honestly love the look of it. Here is my first attempt in a long time of a little line work with paint. Hopefully you like my little castle illustration as much as I do!

Day 7-January 7,2020: WEEK ONE
.
It’s officially been one week of drawing daily. I’ve at least kept up with my New Year’s resolutions for one week. It’s not been long, but taking many small steps eventually leads to walking miles.
.
I’ve really enjoyed and hated this challenge already. I love drawing and painting; it brings me so much joy. I have hated this challenge though in the sense that I don’t ever feel like what I am drawing is ever going to be “good enough”. I keep reminding myself that Rome wasn’t built in a day, my worth isn’t found in perfection, and the process is what really matters. Isn’t that why I’m doing this challenge, to fall in love with process?
.
Feelings aside, I’m really getting into knitting illustrations. I’m currently working on some ideas for Etsy. Here is a little sketch I did but probably won’t use. It’s inspired by my mom who is a devoted knitter unlike me. While I don’t knit, I have to admit that I look exactly like this while painting and drawing. Can anyone else relate?
Day 6- January 6, 2020: STUFFED ILLUSTRATIONS 🐇
.
.
Today I decided to give myself a quicker drawing/painting so I could focus on some other art projects I have in mind. This one is inspired by a bunny I hand sewed for a college project (2nd photo). The pattern is from @purlsoho in case anyone wants to make their own stuffed rabbit. I loved embroidering the floral collar I designed for it. Does anyone else know how to embroider? I’m not amazing at it, but I do enjoy the process as well as the end product.
Day 5- January 5,2020: LIVING WITH FLOWERS
.
The sun finally showed up! Yay! So, in complete contrast to yesterday’s illustration, I present a house overtaken by flowers.
Day 4- January 4,2020: JANUARY GHOSTS 👻 .
January can be an eerie month. The lights from Christmas are gone making nights and corners appear darker. The wind blows harder than normal, and rain seems to fall with the only purpose of making landscapes and life grey. It’s depressing to have to trudge through life after the excitement of the holidays are over. There is a purpose to this season, though. It is through this mundane, grey, boring, and sad time of year that God wishes to use and mold us most. Our goal should be to seek the One who never goes dim. God is our refuge and guide when the lights go out in January. Let us look to Him, serve Him, and honor Him with our grinding, boring, and routine lives. Because even though we may have little to offer, if we have breath, God has a purpose us.

Day 3- January 3,2020: FLYING NEEDLES .
Birds can knit too, right? Would any knitters be interested in a version of this painting as a print? I’m thinking about opening an Etsy shop this year to sell some knit themed prints, cards, etc. To be honest I wish this illustration would have turned out better, and I wish the sun would cooperate with me. I didn’t start this challenge to be perfect, though. .
Day 2 -January 2, 2020: GOOSE ADVENTURE .
Today I really wanted to draw a goose fishing. Don’t ask me why; I just needed to do it. I think there will be more goose adventures to come in the future. He needs a name though. If you have any name suggestions comment them below. 🦢
