“ What are you doing? I see you everywhere writing in this little book. ”
Caught somewhat off guard, the young druid very nearly slammed shut the booklet clutched in her fingers out of reflex. Amber eyes darted up in search of the one who had addressed her, and to her credit they widened only a fraction in surprise of the other’s appearance. The woman could only be described as luminous with her hair, eyes, and complexion, and although Rhaya did a fantastic job of not openly gawking, she did freeze in place a few seconds longer than the situation warranted as if stunlocked by the woman’s radiant appearance. “Ah, well, I’m trying to get a better idea of the city’s layout,” she stammered. Not as eloquent as she would have liked, but another pat on the back for not relaying her true intentions. She very well couldn’t say ‘Casing the joint’, which was the first thing that had sprung to mind – Not that the crew of the Drunken Calamity were planning a heist or any particularly nefarious activities, mind you, but it never hurt to be prepared and know your surroundings. “See?” she prompted after another moment, clearing her throat to gain more traction in the conversations. With a flick she popped open a relatively safe page of notes and flipped the book around to show the other, stepping closer so she could read her small, looping handwriting. “So are you from around here?”
ooc: We're starting to put together characters for the next group game which'll be in the Pathfinder 2E system and I have to keep chanting 'I will not make her a blog I will not make her a blog I will not make her a blog' because I already love her concept (failed attempt at a seventh son of a seventh son) but I already have such limited free time as it is.
BALDURS GATE 3 PARTY BANTER PROMPTS LIST.
all of the following prompts are taken from party banter between the companions in larian studios' baldurs gate 3 (2023). there should be no spoilers! also, a disproportionate amount of these are from astarion and karlach. i'm not sorry.
I am enjoying our walks together, aren't you, [ name ]?
You'll be as depraved as the rest of us in no time.
Friend of yours?
Were you always so sneaky?
If there's hope for me there's hope for anyone.
How are we not there yet? My feet are killing me.
This is what I get for trying to strike up conversation.
We're not going to have trouble, are we?
If we continue this way, we may get too close for comfort.
Don't get too comfortable. We shouldn't overstay our welcome in such a place.
Do you have pet names for each other yet?
[ name ]! Was that a joke?
You know what - that is not the easiest of questions for me to answer.
Given your own nature, are you really the one to judge?
You can read?!
I'm surprised - I expected you to turn your back once you got what you wanted.
I wouldn't know a flirtation if you whacked me alongside the head with it.
Why stay somewhere safe and comfortable when we could be in mortal peril?
Can't say I love what they've done with the place.
I'm learning to enjoy the taste of chaos. Count me in.
At least you didn't tell me to 'be myself'.
You have so much to learn. Repeat after me: honey muffin, sweetie pie, sugarplum.
Nice to be in a crowd of normal people for once.
So [ name ], how is your sad, hopeless pining going?
You seemed a million miles away just then.
I fear I've been rather hasty to judge you, [ name ].
Ready to enter the belly of the beast?
Step one of starting a conversation: think before you speak.
I hear your relationship has taken on a new aspect recently…
All right, just keep it down. We're conspicuous enough without your hyena call.
Not one for roughing it, I see.
Why not have a little fun?
You're right, of course. Forgive me.
My money's on you, [ name ].
The echoes - listen! They're coming from three directions!
Want me to carry you?
Feeling at home?
Treat them right, or you'll have me to answer to.
Oh, darling, would you?
No doubt they found me too intimidating.
A girl could get used to this.
Now I don't know what to believe.
Well - yes, it was a joke.
I know that, too. It just wasn't funny.
And here I thought I rubbed you the wrong way.
Man, it's good to be home. First round on who?
Oh, I wouldn't actually leave. After all, where would you be without me?
You've quite the knack for finding the bright side of things, haven't you?
Well what would impress you, then?
Let's just stop this conversation right here, shall we?
Must've been an awful day for the people who lived here
You've clearly thought this through a great deal. I'm impressed and appalled in equal measure.
Sure, but think of the stories you'll be able to tell.
I never was scared of the shadows.
I know you're not really as heartless as all that.
I judged you wrongly. I'm sorry.
Are you charging for this sage advice, or is sticking your nose into my business just a hobby?
Pragmatism, thy name is [ name ].
That's ironic, coming from you.
We're either very clever or very lucky.
You do not need luck to survive, [ name ]. Not when you have me.
That will make getting word to my mother rather tricky.
Stop gawking at the decor. This place is dangerous.
I can't tell if you're joking.
So, what's it like caring for someone other than yourself, [ name ]?
You think I'm beautiful?
I feel it too. Here if you need a pick-me-up.
Yet another thing we have in common. We're two peas in a pod.
Is it so unbelievable that they would simply like me?
Use your words.
You gonna catch me if I eat a brick?
[ name ], I've heard you talking in your sleep.
Let's never speak of this again.
You can take a day off once in a while, [ name ]
Hey! Something bit me.
Cheer up. It might be all downhill from here.
I love a nice secret hideaway, don't you?
Think the bar is open?
"can you behave" yes, if I wanted to, but this is so much funnier

ooc: Last night was our last session of our 6 year long campaign before the wrap up. It was a tense combat with the end-game boss aboard his ship amidst a huge fleet battle with so many incredible character moments for all of us. A moment I will treasure forever: Upon arriving on the Hurricane King's ship (which was in the middle of fleeing), Rhaya used her ability to mimic voices and amplify the sound to impersonate the Hurricane King and order the crew to drop anchor. The Hurricane King contested the command but we found out a couple rounds later that her deception check had overridden his charisma roll and the crew dropped anchor, halting the ship and saving us from having to deal with the rest of the fleet they had been sailing into. The cool factor was spoiled slightly when, while still using the Hurricane King's voice, she followed up with mocking, "I'm Kerdak Bonefist, and I'm a dumb bitch" before doinking him with a level 8 Call Lightning. Next week we'll be having our final session to play out the epilogue. 6 years we've spent developing these characters together, giving them their own lives and aspirations and quirks, and created an entire a family between each other. I know I'm going to cry when we finally say goodbye to them but damn, it's been such a long journey of nonstop challenges and struggle, the crew of the Drunken Calamity deserve a reprieve.
ooc: Hi friends! Just wanted to pop in to say hello to my new followers, it's lovely to see you! My low activity may continue for the next two weeks, as I'm in the middle of finalizing plans for a trip coming up and all my spare time is going to wrangling people. In the meantime I'm open to plotting or chatting about starting up an interaction, or if you'd prefer I also have disco I'm willing to share with mutuals. Thank you for being patient!
|| What Kind of Love Are You? || - Rhaya
Love as Youth
Your love is buoyant. Your love is bountiful. It is ageless, and it will never age. When you fall in love, it is breathless. It is joyful and endless, it is magnificent. You think it, like your youth , will last forever. Youth is eternal, and so is your love. Your love skips rocks and tells stories, your love roasts marshmallows over fires, and laughs freely. Your love does not take itself too seriously. Your love is jumping into puddles just to watch the water splash, and dancing in the rain, and it is watching Sunday morning reruns of cartoons to feel young once more. Your love is forever, forever young. Being loved by you is to be loved by the summer months. And those never end, do they? Well, I won’t tell if you don’t.

To experience intensity is to not know how things will end.
Chris Kraus, from I Love Dick
“I might,” Vashael bit back before trying to shake his hair out of his eyes. The bothersome strand that had been pulled loose from its binding just fell back over his face, and then he had to bite his tongue to keep back an actual growl of frustration. “And…maybe. If I can focus…”
Vashael would admit that had never been the best of his siblings at changing his shape, and he hadn’t see the point in practicing finesse. Aside from combat or the occasional itch down his spine that could only be scratched by stretching his wings, he didn’t need to change; much like his mother, he liked his more humanoid form, and even preferred it. But now, as he stared at a shadowy crack in the stone floor of the tiny closet and tried to shift just the tips of his fingers into razor sharp talons, Vashael found himself wishing he’d listened more to his brother’s lessons.
Kemat could never know.
“Fuck.” He whispered under his breath. This was so much harder than his brother made it look. “I think I’ve almost…got it…” A painful twist gave him just enough of an angle to reach down and over to scrape the ropes tied hastily around his wrists. His human nails could do little but catch on the fibers, but now he felt them hook and snag for a second before something gave way. The tension around his wrists loosened a little, and Vashael twisted from his shoulders to his wrists to get a better angle. He overreached, and hissed in a breath as his shifted claws cut not only the rest of the rope but his own skin, too.
His next curse was muffled behind bared teeth as he jerked his hands free at last, and briefly looked down at the cut. It was small and shallow, and really hadn’t hurt all that much (he was just surprised - bladed weapons usually had a harder time piercing his skin, but it made sense that dragon talons could), so Vashael wiped the scratch once on the hem of his tunic before using his newly freed hands to shift around in the tight space.
“Turn around,” He ordered as he pushed himself to his feet. Not quite to his full height - the closet wasn’t exactly empty, and he didn’t want to alert their captors by smacking his head and upending a shelf - but tall enough that Rhaya would have more room to move. “Let me cut you free.” He wouldn’t be able to maintain these claws forever, he already knew. His teeth were aching and his spine was starting to itch. He never knew it felt like anything to shape change. “And hurry. I can’t do this forever.”
“Hm,” was all she offered by way of response to his admittance he might possess some of the information their captors sought. Although Vashael might not be able to see the deep frown that leapt across her features, he could likely very easily be able to suss out by tone alone that it was not exactly an enthused noise. Rhaya wasn’t sure what was worse: Having some insight to whatever they were looking for, or not having it. The next few minutes were occupied by her determination to clamp her mouth shut and the sounds of struggle across from her. It took far more determination than she would care to admit to keep from offering anymore quips or jabs – she got annoyingly talkative when she was anxious – her features visibly twisting with effort upon hearing the expletive. Not a reassuring sign, to say the least. Several more tense moments passed and the subtle sound of material shifting reached her, followed by her companion struggling to his feet. “Yep,” she grunted in acknowledgement, willing her cramped muscles to obey his demand by twisting awkwardly. In her struggle to both stand up properly and rotate in the confined space she felt her shins, knees, a shoulder and in one instance the top of her head bump against no less than eight different surfaces and objects – the last one earning the softest of curses whispered in celestial. They couldn’t have found literally any other place to stick them?! “Can you reach it?” The words leaked ire, her nostrils flaring as she pressed her forehead against the wall. Though she was breathing somewhat heavily she made sure to keep her wrists as still as possible, keeping fingers clenched to hopefully make access to the ropes themselves easier.
❛ the gods must be angry. i sense a storm brewing. ❜
Rhaya had been trying her best not to stare, she really had; but when the ethereal-looking stranger turned her way and spoke, the young druid stumbled over her own words in her haste to respond and gave herself away immediately. “It’s going to be a big one for sure. Hurricane by the time it hits land, I’d reckon.” Finally given the excuse to fully look at her, it was all she could do not to gawk. Everything about her screamed celestial in nature, and she found herself wondering if she was like her, somehow. The storm was a good icebreaker though. If there was one thing the druid knew, it was weather patterns. This one was going to be a doozy; she could feel it as well. It was why their crew had opted to heed her advice and dock in port to seek shelter until it passed, though Rhaya warned them it would likely take days to clear and they would be safer inland. While the captain had obliged and agreed to docking, he remained obstinate to straying too far from the ship and all their supplies. Wherever the captain went, the officers rarely strayed too far. Tearing her attention away from the woman, Rhaya instead turned her gaze in the direction she knew the sea to be. From this part of town, the ominous, rolling wall of dark clouds looming on the horizon would not be visible. Despite it being miles and miles away though, the air was already heavy with the coming storm. “So are you… clairvoyant to some extent?” the young druid asked, hoping that wasn’t too bold a question.
Starter for @fantasystrangers Possessing all the grace of someone born with an ingrained connection with nature, Rhaya picked her way through the forest undergrowth efficiently and with little disturbance. Clutched at her side with the strap slung around her shoulder was a small satchel which carried precious cargo: the collected leaves of a rare plant which would prove vital in refining down to make some of the oils required for a reincarnation spell. After teleporting out here, it had taken nearly a full day to even locate where the plant grew. Then from there she had burned another two hours making sure she spread out the clipping and didn't get too heavy-handed, which ensured the plants would continue to thrive for another harvest if needed later down the line. With a small noise of effort she clambered and scraped her way through a dense thicket of bushes and burst out onto the shoulder of a small dirt-packed road – Only to abruptly realize she was not out here alone. A sharp yelp was chased by an expletive and she reeled backwards, the bushes nearly swallowing her up again. With one hand twisted around the strap of the bag and the other raised with a splayed palm, she stared wide-eyed across at the other figure. “Sorry–! Sorry, I didn’t realize there was someone else on the path. I’m not being weird, I promise.” That was exactly what some weirdo being a creep in the forest would say. Damn.

“ So... how did you find out I didn't do it? ”
“ Where you go, I go. ”
“ Don’t argue with me; you know it does no good. ”
“ I will never forget you. ”
“ It seems we've been dealt a bad hand this time. ”
“ You're a good liar. ”
“ I always win. One way or another. ”
“ You're so stupid, you're such an idiot— ”
“ You jump, I jump, right? ”
“ What could possibly be funny? ”
“ Won't you even make a try for it? ”
“ We can't expect God to do all the work for us. ”
“ Shhh. Don't cry. It'll be over soon. It'll all be over soon. ”
“ No... don't say your good-byes. Don't you give up. Don't do it. ”
“ You're going to die an old lady, warm in your bed. Not here. Not this night. Do you understand me? ”
