Hidden within the mountains of Scotland lies the mysterious St. Clair Institute. Beyond its castle walls holds a secret that many have died to protect. To the outside world it is merely another prestigious finishing school, but the truth is St. Clair's is a sanctuary for Gifted humans. For centuries Mundanes have waged war against the Gifted. The St. Clair Institute is believed to be one of the last safe havens, but how long can that truly last?
By requested character we mean you give a  description or prompt for the character, and we'll write up the bio for the next batch of characters. Though I will remind you, you'll still have to apply for the character and everything.

OOC INFORMATION
Name: Meranda
Age: 15
Timezone: EST/EDT

How You Found Us: The roleplay tag.Â
Anything Else: Favorite pun ~ âWho are you, the avatarâs fan girls?â - Azula from A:TLA, talking about the Kyoshi Warriors.
IC INFORMATION
Desired Character: Lorenzo DelgadoÂ
Secondary Choice: Henry BelcourtÂ
Why This Character: (Tell us what makes you want this character more than any other.)
Headcanons: I donât have any headcanons for it right now, but Iâll probably be posting a headcanon or two every two weeks. They come often, but itâs just not coming right now.Â
Ship Preferences: Iâd like him to have a good relationship with both his sister and his roommates, especially Lucas, since it says theyâre friends. Thomas and Enzo would probably more feel apathy toward one another.Â
Any Changes or Extra Information: None.
PARA SAMPLE
This is OOC.Â
Oscar developed a slight anxiety when he was nine years old. It wasnât anything really bad, it just made him stutter sometimes, also making him kind of unable to looking people right in the eye. His familyâs muggle psychologist was sure he would grow out of it by the time his parents were sending him off to boarding school just like the rest of his older siblings, and the doctor mostly thought the outward nerves were just because of lack of exposure to people as a general power. Even the doctor knew he wasnât around people his own age (or people at all) much.
Amongst the floors and floors of his house, countless stories in those days (though actually only five), another adventure was always just around the corner for young Oscar. The boy never really worried about how odd he felt around people, even his own parents felt a little strange in comparison; only Lauren ever seemed to want to be around him in his own realm. Even though she was much bigger and much older, when she came home for holidays and for visits, Lauren would make an effort to play with him, and to explore with him in a place she must have found the secrets of long ago. He missed her when she was away.
The stutter ended up going away during the course of his first year, and he pretty much avoided talking to people as much as possible either way. He didnât really reach out unless someone seemed like they needed help, he just waited for other people to strike up a conversation with him. It was never really a big deal. The anxiety came back full frontal force during the younger years of being a teenager. Oscar didnât really find himself interested in anyone, but it seemed that some were interested in him. Flirting and such would nearly send him into a panic attack, and thus he started avoiding again.
Welcome to St. Clair, Mandy. You have been accepted as Henry Belcour. Please create your account with the next 24 hours. Also remember to look over our checklist. We all loved your application and headcanons are really excited to see you bring Henry to life.Â

OOC Information
   Name: Mandy
   Age: 21
   Timezone: PST
Activity: I work at a retail store, so Iâve been called in a lot due to holiday season shopping preparation and stuff. But I try to be on as much as I possibly can, so about a 7-8.
How You Found Us: I was searching for roleplays and the âlegit serious roleplayâ tag caught my eye. So naturally I had to come check you guys out.Â
Anything Else: Itâs not that the man did not know how to juggle, he just didnât have the balls to do it.
IC Information
   Desired Character: Henry Belcourt
   Secondary Choice: Jonathan Fray
   Why This Character:
His bio just stuck out the most to me. It was love at first sight LOL. I love characters where thereâs a lot to go off of, and I feel like he has a lot of quote unquote soul searching to do before he figures out who he really is.
   Headcanons:Â
SO MANY OH GOD. I just love the idea of this spoiled rich boy suddenly figuring out he has these abilities that no one can know about. I feel like getting the powers kind of prevented him from getting overly spoiled and unbearable, because suddenly he had this huge secret that he couldnât really talk about. It seems like it was treated like a disease, and for a teenage boy who is already trying to figure himself out, I imagine that must have been really traumatizing. Not to mention lonely. The guilt he feels for not telling his Father really pulls on my heart too. Because since his Mother wasnât really accepting of him, I think part of him wonders if his Father would have been. Like maybe things would have been different and less lonely/stressful if he had his Dadâs support? And now heâll never know, so he has to learn how to get over that. Now heâs at a place where he can have the support he needs, though. Now he can really find himself â- not to sound cheesy but yes! I also like that heâs cautious and defensive, because you canât just not be after an upbringing like that. His love and silence was mostly bought by his Mother, and that shit can be scarring as heck. So I bet he can be really spoiled/selfish at times, but thatâs all he really knows? Over time Iâm hoping his really good sides will show and heâll become a really well developed character.Â
Ship Preferences: Is it bad that I ship the idea of Henry/Gabriel?? Of course, them staying just friends is beautiful too. I just ship chemistry so whatever happens happens! This goes for brotpâs and things too. You never know which characters will click.Â
Any Changes or Extra Information: None at all!
Para Sample
Iâm so mad, I wrote out an IC para sample and it was ridiculously long and I was like HELLA but then my computer shut off and I lost it. So Iâm just going to use one from an old RP I was in that was set sometime the 1950s-60s. I am sorry <3Â
ââ-
The thin soles of Delilahâs loafers did nothing to keep the soil that rest loosely on the ground from making its way inside - sticking to her cool feet as she made her way to her small home as quickly, yet as safely, as she could. In her arms she cradled the small school bag Mama had sewed for her for her first day back, the wear and strain of the books only causing a few tears and holes here and there, but the animal-skinned bag - from their own farm, of course - still maintained itâs purpose. Biting down on her lip, slowing down as she neared the house, the girl cradled the bag even closer, glancing down in slight worry. She had a surprise in side, and she didnât wish to ruin it by losing track of or harming it. Thatâs the last thing she wanted to do.
Reaching the front door of the small house that they all shared - all four of them, Delilah slipped off her worn shoes. Mama would be beyond upset with her if she tracked mud into the house, and while there was residual dirt on her feet, she could pass it off as simple dust collecting on the wooden floors. She couldnât risk being stopped for a lecture, not at that moment. She had to see Wendy first and show her what she had collected for her. Making her way straight towards her sisters room, Delilah managed to slide past her folks - Papa likely out working in the barn, Mama in the kitchen doing something that on an ordinary day Delilah would have offered to help her with, as an attempt to get and stay on her good side. A happy Mother made for a happy household. Thatâs what her Father said, anyhow. And Delilah always believed in and trusted what he had to say.
With Wendyâs bedroom door now in front of her, Delilah raised a hesitant hand, unsure of whether to walk in or wait until she knew the frail girl was up for sure. Normally she wanted her to get her rest, to recover the best she could so that maybe she could come back to school and Delilah wouldnât have to be alone anymore. She wanted her sister back as soon as possible. However, this could not wait. And maybe this would make her feel a little better, or at the very least, happier. With her mind being made up, she rapped on the door frame softly before opening the door just a smidgen. âWendy?â She whispered in a hushed tone, shifting the bag in her arms - making sure it wasnât closed completely, but not opened wide enough that her treasure wouldnât fall out. âWendy, are you awake? I need to speak with you; I found something.â Keeping the excitement out of her voice proved to be a difficult task, but she managed not to be too loud. Thank goodness.
Welcome to St. Clair, Dani. You have been accepted as Jonathan Fray. Please create your account with the next 24 hours. Also remember to look over our checklist. I know we're all really excited to see Jonathan taken, and I have no doubt that you're going to portray him extremely well.
OCC INFORMATION
Name:Â Dani (Danica)
Age:Â 23
Timezone:Â CST (USA, Texas)
Activity:Â Â I try to get on for a couple solid hours a day, depending on how many replies I have, but then I also pop on and off throughout the day.
How You Found Us:Â Jeanna got me into this, I blame her entirely.
Anything Else:Â Â I donât necessarily have a favourite pun (though I do love them), but if you search âWinnie the Pooh (Not Knot) Clip HDâ on YouTube that punny-exchange cracks me up EVERY TIME!
IC INFORMATION
Desired Character:Â Jonathan Fray
Secondary Choice:Â Thomas Sinclair (but Iâve already submitted an application for him)
Why This Character:Â Ahhhh Jonnyâs a blast! Heâs definitely a little shit, he loves to have fun and joke around, and the relationship between him and Cordy is going to be so fun!
Headcanons:Â Heâs the one who started calling Cordelia âCordy.â He started it soon after he and Christopher took her away from the Orphanage/foster home and she hated it, told him to stop, but he didnât. Now she loves it and theyâre suuuuper tight.
Jonny always has a trinket of some kind in his pocket that he can replicate, toss around and then destroy the copy.
Often Cordy will have him replicate her so she can see her outfit or her hair from all angles. Heâs had some of her friends ask him to do the same for them and heâs more than happy to oblige; Cordyâs friends are gorgeousâŚ
The only time heâs really quiet and calm is when heâs with the horses. He didnât think he would like being a stablehand, but heâs always liked being around horses and the whole manual labour side of it is growing on him.
Ship Preferences:Â Not at the moment, Iâd rather just let things develop/play out on their own, see who he clicks with and such.
Any Changes or Extra Information:Â Nope heâs perfect!
PARA SAMPLE
Please write a para sample here that is at least 3-4 paragraphs long. Must be past tense, third person. âIn Characterâ is not mandatory, but preferred.
-
They had been traveling for what felt like months, but Christopher assured him with a long-suffering sigh that it had been no more than a week. They were due to reach the St. Clair Institute in a day or two and Jonathan was beyond excited. He had enjoyed being one-of-a-kind and extraordinary while surrounded by mundanes, and sure, terrorising William had always been worth a laugh, but it had all gotten very old as heâd grown up. He was extraordinary, heâd be the first to say it, but in the life heâd been living no one had been able to see it. That âfamily,â if they could even be called that, had never loved him or made him feel like they wanted him thereâwhich he was sure they hadnâtâand had nearly made him believe that he would never see his true family again. Heâd constantly had to hide what he could do and every time he replicated in front of a mundane like little Willie, he risked getting caught or having someone actually believe the stories. Now though, things would be different.
He was going to a place where everyone was gifted like he was, where he could make friends, show off his abilities and learn how to make them stronger. Heâd always been creative and full of imagination, making believe stories and fantasies whenever he was alone, so it was no wonder that his mind was busy imagining what St. Clairâs would be like. He pictured a great big castle surrounded by snowcapped mountains, flags on every turret snapping in the wind while people flew around in the air, some with wings, some surrounded by flames or a strange purple light⌠He could see it all.
Jonathan was lounging against a fallen tree in the forest clearing where they had set up camp for the night, his hands behind his head and his ankles crossed in front of him so that the fire warmed his toes. He wiggled them, glad to be free from the shoes heâd been walking in all day. They had just finished eating their supper and were relaxing together before settling down for the night. Like a real family, he thought. Jonathan looked around the circle of their campfire and grinned broadly. Christopher was thoroughly engrossed in the all-important papers heâd brought with him, his brow furrowed in concentration. Though heâd only known this older Chris for a little over a month, everything he did already seemed familiar. Heâd lightened up Jonathan more as theyâd gotten to know each other, even laughed at his brotherâs jokes, but he was still a bit of a stick-in-the-mud. Jonathan chuckled to himself.
Cordelia on the other hand, was everything he could have ever hoped for in a sister and more. Theyâd only truly been able to interact as brother and sister for the week theyâd been traveling together, but already they were closer to one another than he knew he and Chris would ever be. She was his partner in crime as they tormented their older brother, schemed up pranks to pull at St. Clairâs once they got there and generally snickered at Chrisâ disapproving, exasperated looks. Cordelia was reclining on her makeshift bedrollâbundles of blankets they had stolen from the orphanage theyâd rescued her fromâlooking up at the constellations that were framed by the circle of trees surrounding their clearing, a quiet look on her face. Jonathan watched her as her eyes searched the skies, marveling at how heâd ended up with a sister so perfect. Not perfect because she was beautiful or anything of that sort, though she was, but because Cordelia wasâŚCordy, and she was going to be his best friend. He could feel it.
Jonathan dug in his pack and pulled out the trio of apples heâd swiped from the town they went through today to buy food. Christopher insisted on buying everything, because âwe arenât criminalsâ and because âwe can afford to,â but that was boring and Jonathan had cheated a little. It was a trick heâd learned soon after developing his ability and one heâd perfected over the years. He would bump into whatever item he wanted to swipe, knocking it to the floor (or catching it if it was breakable), and then heâd replicate it while he bent over to pick it back up. Heâd slip the real item, in this case the apples, in his bag or pocket, while putting the copies back on the cart, apologising and flashing a charming smile at the seller before walking away. The copies would disappear after he left and the gormless mundanes would never realise what had happened. Jonathan snickered just thinking about it.
âHey Cordy, heads up,â he called, tossing her an apple. She looked up just in time to catch it and glowered at him.
âDonât call me that, Jonathan,â she quipped, knowing full well that he preferred his nickname to his given one.
He grinned and winked at her mischievously, âYouâre welcome, love,â before tossing the second apple at Christopherâs head. It hit his brother in the shoulder and knocked his papers to the ground as it fell. He shot an exasperated look at Jonathan and picked them back up, turning the apple over in his hand and glancing at the one that Cordelia was now eating.
âWhereâd you get these?â He asked, eyes slightly narrowed. Jonathan just shrugged and continued grinning. Â
âI found them?â Christopher frowned and opened his mouth, definitely meaning to lecture Jonathan about stealing again, but he was interrupted by Cordelia before he could begin.
âIf you donât want it, Jonny and I will split it⌠More for us and all that.â She smiled sweetly and held out her hand, Jonathan nodding in agreement. Christopher glared at the pair of them, before wiping the apple off on his shirt and taking a bite.
âNext time, we buy them,â he lectured around a mouthful of apple, pointing at Jonathan with a serious expression. The other two snickered and then the trio lapsed back into a comfortable silence.
Jonathan leaned back again and took a huge bite of his own stolen fruit, feeling immensely content. He had his family back. They were together again and it was perfect.

Welcome to St. Clair, Dani. You have been accepted as Thomas Sinclair. Please create your account with the next 24 hours. Also remember to look over our checklist. Honestly I was completely blown away by this application. The headcanons were really great and I think they completely fit the character. The para sample was also incredibly detailed and totally how I pictured Thomas. Â
OOC INFORMATION
Name: Dani (Danica)
Age: 23
Timezone: CST (USA, Texas)
Activity: I try to get on for a couple solid hours a day, depending on how many replies I have, but then I also pop on and off throughout the day.
How You Found Us: Jeanna got me into this, I blame her entirely.
Anything Else: I donât necessarily have a favourite pun (though I do love them), but if you search âWinnie the Pooh (Not Knot) Clip HDâ on YouTube that punny-exchange cracks me up EVERY TIME!
IC INFORMATION
Desired Character: Thomas Sinclair
Secondary Choice: Jonathan Fray (but Iâll be putting in a separate application for him)
Why this character?: Well I dug into his bio because Dylan OâBrien, but his serious shift in personality when he got his abilities and who heâs become since then intrigued me. Iâm excited to play with his wit, anger, guilt and anti-social tendencies. Also, his ability kicks ass and thatâs always fun.
Headcanons: He has a seriously dirty mouth. Itâs most likely due to the immense amount of anger he has stored up over the years and the rough life heâs been living on the road, but he can barely get a sentence out that doesnât contain some kind of swear word or rude comment.
He has a caustic wit, which he uses to insult people in a way most donât catch or understand. Thomas is also very sarcastic, but not in a way meant to be funny; it is just another tool he uses to insult people and make fun of how much slower they are than him.
Heâs not a bad kid, and heâs not truly mean, heâs just very frustrated and he doesnât want to be here.
He doesnât like to be called Tommy anymore, because thatâs what Reesa (Teresa) called him and hearing it brings up the guilt heâs been suppressing for years. âTomâ is reserved for friends, but⌠he doesnât have many of those currently. Heâs just Thomas.
He has trouble sleeping in the dorm because itâs nothing like the places heâs been sleeping for the past nine years, and the sleep deprivation only adds to his natural cranky-ness. Couple that with his anger and annoyance at being dragged to this restrictive hellhole of dullness, and heâs a regular little miss sunshine.
Thomasâ ability often manifests itself much like ADHD when heâs not moving at the speed of sound. He canât sit still to save his life, some part of him is always moving, his brain will jump tracks from one train of thought to another faster than you can blink and he gets bored very easily.
He has a HUGE appetite because of all the calories his insane metabolism burns, so he eats a ton and always has a snack on him. Especially now that quality food is so readily available to him.
Ship Preferences: Thomas has no other connections right now. Heâs ignoring everyone as much as possible, including his roommates, and actively avoiding any family reunions. He wants to leave and find the mundanes who killed his parents, not make friends and learn useless shit from these boring, Institute stiffs.
Any Changes or Extra Information: He does leave his room, just not while people are awake if he can help it⌠He sleeps or reads during the day, then steals new books from the library and sneaks around at night. The only exception is for food because BOY does he need to eat, but he waits until the very end of the set meal time when the cafeteria is mostly empty and the chance of him running into Reesa or Nathaniel is much lower.
PARA SAMPLE
Please write a para sample here that is at least 3-4 paragraphs long. Must be past tense, third person. âIn Characterâ is not mandatory, but preferred.
Thomas had run. Heâd run until the screams of his parents no longer echoed through his head. Pushing faster and faster until any guilt or sadness he may have felt for abandoning Nathaniel and especially Reesa didnât even register. The more heâd pushed himself, the more exhilarated heâd become and the less pain he had felt. Before this, Thomas had never been able to test the limits of his abilities, restricted as heâd been by his familyâs need for secrecy. Then it had all been blown to hell. Looking back, that was the moment he had finally been unleashed.
He hated that he saw even a small part of losing his parents in a positive light, but before their secret had been exposed, heâd felt wholly confined and bogged down by restrictions. Their death was the worst thing heâd ever experienced, pain so raw he knew he would surely break in two for it. Now though, he was stronger, faster and smarter than ever before, and he felt fully in control of his abilities. He was free to do as he pleased, to fully embrace who and what he was, and that suited him perfectly. His pain and grief had been sharpened and honed into a deep, wretched anger over time and now he was ready to inflict this pain on the people responsible for his parentsâ murder. It was their turn to burn, to writhe in agony as he stoked the fire.
He was thinking metaphorically of course, for intense as his emotions were he was damn sure he didnât actually want to set a person aflame. It wasnât that he was above killing entirely, he was quite sure he could if the opportunity arose for him to extract his revenge, but he never wanted to see, hear, or be a part of a live burning ever again. Once had been quite enough. Truth be told, Thomas wasnât sure what he wanted to do to the men responsible when he found them, he just knew he wanted them to suffer.
Every week we're going to be posting a challenge. These will vary in type and style. Some will be character development. Others will be about character inspiration. But mostly they're all designed to be fun and to help you build your character in the roleplay. They are not compulsory, but are highly recommended. Please tag any official challenge related posts as âscichallenge'

Welcome to St. Clair, Steph. You have been accepted as Calan Belcort. Please create your account with the next 24 hours. Also remember to look over our checklist. We were all so excited to see an app for Calan! We know that you will make a great addition to our group!
 OOC INFORMATION
Name:Â Steph
Age:Â 22
Timezone:Â EST
Activity:Â Very active in the evenings; I work full time, but 99% of my free time during the weekdays is spent on my indie RP blog on Tumblr so itâll be very easy to find time for here!
How You Found Us:Â Jeanne who plays Abigail showed me your site.
Anything Else:Â Police were called to a daycare where a three-year-old was resisting a rest!
IC INFORMATION
Desired Character:Â Calan Belcourt
Secondary Choice:Â Gabriel Lockwood
Why This Character:Â I was originally drawn in because of the face claim. I mean, itâs Daniel Gillies. But reading his biography I found him to be a very interesting and sympathetic character. I love the idea of him being very charming and gentlemanly, but honestly feeling that his only real worth is in helping these kids so they wouldnât grow as damaged as heâd been.
Headcanons:Â He tends to keep people at a distance. Part is because of his past but another is because of his power. Itâs off-putting to suddenly know someoneâs history in the blink of any eye. He thinks itâs better, easier this way.
Ship Preferences:Â As mentioned above it is rare that Calan truly lets people in so heâll need someone willing to push through when he can be short or silent. But I would love for him to find someone to break down his walls and force him to accept himself and his life, etc.
Any Changes or Extra Information:Â None that I can think of at the moment!
PARA SAMPLE
He must have been worrying them by now, tucked up in his room in silence. Daemon had come to check on him a few times; he always had a bottle of something strong that smelled of shoe polish and took the sting out of it all for just a bit. It wasnât Calanâs normal pace but it would do. But what really stunned Calan was that even Leo had been brought from his room to see how he was doing. The partners had sat in amiable silence and Calan had made some sly comment about Leo taking time from his busy schedule. The two had laughed if just for a second. There were a few other scattered visitors who stayed for no more than the necessary amount of time to seem polite. Yes, how worried they all were. And he appreciated it. He told them all that as they left, a hollowness in his voice that put a tint of pity in their gazes.
But none of that changed the fact that his brother was dead.
His brother who taught him to read, ride horse back and tie his ties. His brother who never once looked at him with the disdain and disappointment he had felt from his other family members. His brother who was his hero. Now he was cold and still in the ground, no place fitting for a man as warm and lively as Michael. Again the sadness grew like a ball of ice in his stomach. Calan knew he had to be strong now; he had students looking to him, plus soon his own nephew would be here, seeking a presence that heâd lost with his fatherâs death.
