“I have to do it,” he said. “You rape our women.” 

This myth - that black men rape and assault white women - has been used to justify the murder of black people for centuries. It was used to justify lynchings. It was used to justify slavery. It is still used today.  

And white feminists absolutely NEED TO REPUDIATE this myth, because white women’s tacit approval - and sometimes vocal agreement - with this myth is part of what allows this terrorism to happen. 

People like Dylann Storm believe white women need to be protected from black men. 

We don’t. 

I stand in solidarity with the black community, not with people like Dylann Storm. He does not speak for me. 

even if you don’t understand cultural appropriation or even agree with my frustration of how (how, not that fact that) AAVE makes its way to mainstream culture

don’t you think it’s a little fucked up to only use AAVE when you want to sound aggressive, tough, wild, or overtly sexual?

you’re threatening to fight someone

you’re referring to how intoxicated you’re about to get

you’re trying to convey that you’re sexually available?

like wow maybe there’s something fucked up about the way you think of black people if you only try to talk like them in those situations.

- turning the tub purple while dyeing your hair with Kool-Aid

- using colored pencils as eyeliner

- falling asleep without putting out your incense and almost setting your desk on fire.

- losing your brand new shoes during the class pool party

Things that do not qualify as “teenage mistakes”:

I’m not trying to take this post away from women and make it about Black men but I want to point out that wether it’s patriarchy or white supremacy; those who feel as if they have power over you HATE to see you not smile. They are so used to people like you smiling to gain their approval that when you don’t there’s a cognitive dissonance that makes them extremely uncomfortable.
