So, how about people learn to enjoy the events of their choice based on the content created for their events and stop crying over what others are doing ?

Would you cry about people celebrating the 10th anniversary of the ACOTAR series ? No right because that would be stupid .

Gwynriel commissioners and artists make Gwynriel content every month and will continue to do so per their plans. People who have plans for Emerie Week will make content for that. People who have plans for Mermay will do so as planned .

At this hearing I stand before my fellow members of "The Tortured Poets Department". With a summary of my findings, a debrief, a detailed rewinding, for the purpose of warning, for the sake of reminding.

The issue isn’t an Elriel scene and the TT scene being on the bracket.

I don’t even care about who you believe killed the king of Hybern, it’s whatever.

The issue I have, is with the way Elriels have been talking about/treating the scene of Gwyn cutting the ribbon. Especially after so many of you have claimed to “love” Gwyn, or even like her.

Everyone is allowed their opinion. But to claim this scene is boring and imply it holds no meaning is such a reach.

You want to know why this scene made it onto the bracket in the first place?

“Gwyn whispered,

“I am the rock against which the surf crashes.”

Nesta straightened at the words, as if they were a prayer and a summons. Gwyn lifted the blade.

“Nothing can break me.”

After she endures this:

“And when I didn’t give the children up …”

Her mouth shook.

“He beheaded Catrin right there, along with two other priestesses. And then he told his soldiers to go to work on us. He claimed me. I spat in his face.”

Tears slid down her cheeks.

“And then he … went to work.”

Nesta’s heart cracked.

“I hadn’t yet participated in the Great Rite, and we were so remote up there that I never had the chance to lie with a male, and he took that from me, too. And then he called over three of his soldiers and told them to keep going until I revealed where the children had gone.”

And yet this was her response:

“I knew Catrin would have been the first to sign up for training, so … I did, too.”

“Our stories are worth telling.”

The whole reason that this plot line was written in the first place, was to show that these women, Gwyn in this moment, would not let the cruelty of others and the absolute violation these men put them through, keep them from living life and living it happily. The whole point of that scene was to show strength and healing and the power that we as women hold within ourselves.

And now you have a whole side of the fandom (majority of them women) shitting on that scene. All over a petty ass ship war.

And I have seen countless Elriels comparing Gwyn to Elain.

Both women are strong, both women are important to the story moving forward. With or without Azriel.
