my biggest issue with Daredevil: Born Again is that matt and karen just⦠donāt talk about themselves.
their scenes are so short, constantly cut off, or interrupted by action. and when they do talk, itās always about plans, fisk, cases ā never about them.
and i get it. shorter episodes, a lot going on. but you cannot convince me thereās time for fiskās weird propaganda videos every episode, and not enough time to show two people whoāve been apart for so long actually reconnecting.
like⦠where is the first real hug after months?
where is the first night they spend together?
where is the conversation where they finally sit down and talk about everything ā what they went through, what it did to them?
i wanted to see them break. i wanted to see them be vulnerable. even a simple flashback ā something that shows the weight of their longing, the way they missed each other, emotionally and physically.
because right now, it just feels glossed over.
and thatās the frustrating part. matt and karen have always been a slow burn ā built on suppressed feelings, shared pain, and that quiet pull toward each other. but here, you have to work to see it. you have to read between the lines. and most viewers wonāt.
and they shouldnāt have to.
without those grounded, emotional moments, their relationship just doesnāt land the way it should.
and then you add frank, and elektra coming back, and suddenly everything feels even more scattered. it becomes harder and harder for people to actually believe in matt and karen as a couple.
i really hope the remaining episodes prove me wrong. i want to be wrong.
because i love them. i love their dynamic, their chemistry, their story.
i just donāt want it to feel like itās being sidelined.
