becoming that girl

hey guys, its been a while since i’ve last posted, life has been pretty hectic! i finally got my own apartment, and i’ve been caught up with moving for a while! everything is so much more expensive than i expected but it’s amazing having my own space — my imaginary future apartment is finally turning into my reality! furniture is really expensive though, so its still a work in progress. in the meantime, here are some of my favorite things about my apartment, and a few comparisons from how i imagined my apartment to how it really is :)

some things i really like:

i absolutely love my couch — its a L-sectional that pulls out, and it is so insanely comfortable. i’ve fallen asleep on it so many times, and i honestly prefer laying on my couch after work than my bed

i got a green rug and silver lamps for my living room, and its really pulling the entire space together. i got matching black shelves for decor, so its really balancing my soft and edgy aesthetics.

finally got a vinyl rack for all my fall out boy records! it was the perfect size to fill an empty space along my wall, and i can’t wait to bring my record player over from my parents’ house. i originally wanted to upgrade my old suitcase record player to an actual turntable, but i realized it isn’t a necessary expense at the moment, so i’m sitting on that for a while

i got a dyson vacuum and air purifier! my favorite part of the vacuum is that it lights up the floor so i can see where the dust is. the air purifer is a life saver — i don’t have a hood vent in my apartment, so i run it every time i cook. its also super cool to see how bad my air quality gets after cooking lol. the air purifier also doubles as a fan, which is convenient since the weather where i live doesn’t get super hot and i don’t need an ac unit.

some things that were unexpected:

i spent way more time furnishing my living room compared to my bedroom — its the space my guests see, so i wanted it to look put together. my bedroom is currently just a bed and nightstands, and honestly i’m not sure what i need to put in there. i have a ton of closet space, so i don’t need more clothing storage, and i don’t have a lot of a work to do at home, so a desk isn’t completely necessary. now that i have an entire apartment to myself and i’m not confined to decorating just my room, i’m not really sure what i need in my room anymore

i always imagined living in a very modern apartment, but the apartment i got was fairly old fashioned. there are a lot of cabinets, but each cabinet is very small compared to the ones i used to have. the floor is a little warped, and the closets still have the original old grey carpet before the owners remodeled most of the floor. it doesn’t really bother me much though, since its just the closet.

i'm actually living in housing provided by my company since my job is too far from my parents' house to commute every day, so it's pretty much like living in a dorm again! i go back to my parents' house on the weekends though :)

hi everyone, it has been a hot minute since i posted! work has been a little rough so i've been busy trying to balance that and my personal life. anyway, i'm a bit behind on my new years resolutions, but here are some things i'm trying to implement in this new year:

waking up earlier — i love sleeping in, but i feel so productive when i'm up in the morning. there's just something so peaceful about being on the road when the sky is turning pink and there are barely any cars on the highway, and being the first person to arrive in the office. now, if only i could sleep earlier so i could be less tired in the morning...i'll save that one for next year :D

being on time — unfortunately, i am someone who is chronically late. i'm great at planning out my time, and i'm almost always accurate in my estimates. however, i'm awful at following my schedule.

it's been a while since i last posted, things have been so busy! i've gotten new responsibilities at work, gone to a concert, flew to vegas for a festival, went to the renaissance faire, and had halloween plans.

but now that october's come to an end, here are some of my favorite things from last month!

drunk - keshi — this is one of my top songs lately, its been my favorite song to sing in the car while driving home. its so calming to me, and there's just a tinge of sadness that feels like coming home after a long day.

strawberry matcha lattes — i recently found a new cafe near my home and they make such good strawberry matcha lattes! they're so creamy and they put so much jam at the bottom i've had to stop myself from going every day.

tomato danishes — while i was in the airport to fly to vegas i bought myself a seasonal danish from a cafe. i was expecting something sweet, but i received a tomato and cream cheese danish! i absolutely loved it and i've been craving it but i wasn't able to find it anywhere outside of that specific airport cafe ;-;

i love when months start on a sunday, it just feels like the perfect time for new beginnings. i've got a trip coming up the first week of september, as well as another trip in october, so i'm anticipating these two months to be big spending months ;-;

i've finally accepted that i can't instantly make my life *aesthetic*, and that i need to make little changes first in order for the big picture to come together. that being said, here are some of the things i want to improve on for this month.

start walking 10k steps a day — going to a gym is incredibly intimidating for me but i love taking walks, so i think this is the perfect way to get some light cardio (and sunshine) into my day-to-day life.

eat at home more — i've been seeing these girls on tiktok making dense bean salads and pasta salads, and they look sooo good. dense bean salads would add so much (needed) protein into my diet, and pasta salad just looks so tasty and easy to make.

start budgeting properly — most of my money right now goes towards eating out (especially since i treat my friends most of the time), so i need to get a firmer grasp on how much i can spend on other random little trinkets (smiskis).

i've accumulated so many different perfumes over the years, and i think i've finally managed to narrow it down to a couple permanent ones in my rotation.

byredo bal d'afrique — this is my go-to everyday scent; if i had a signature scent this would be it. i love citrus scents, and this one has a lovely bergamot note that lasts throughout the day. i associate it with white towels, tangerines in the summer, and brunch dates.

jo malone blackberry and bay — one of my favorite springtime scents, its very fresh and green with a hint of fruitiness underneath. i especially like it on warmer days, as the heat really accentuates the blackberry note.

mfk gentle fluidity gold — this is my special occasion scent. if i want to smell like wealth, i reach for this perfume. every formal event, every important dinner, if i want to smell like gold jewelry and old money i wear this.

phlur father figure — another one of my easy to reach for scents, this one reminds me of freshly showered skin; its creamy and comforting and smells like a hug.

phlur vanilla skin — this scent is for when i just want to smell *warm*. i've been searching for a vanilla scent that i love and i think this one is it for me. its cozy and sweet and reminds me of holding hands and gentle kisses and lazy morning cuddles with a lover.

always smells good (fruity florals in the summer, vanillas in the winter)

buys fresh flowers weekly from trader joes or the farmers market

bakes matcha cookies and cheesecake brownies and pecan scones

regularly gets pedicures (fresh white polish)

uses manucurist active glow on her natural nails every week instead of polish or acrylics

has a sunday reset routine where she cleans the house, washes her bedding, meal preps, has an everything shower, lights candles, and drinks hot jasmine tea

goes to art museums and the symphony and bookshops but also goes to bars and concerts

has soft white sheets and satin pillowcases and jellycat plushies

loves a lil lychee or espresso martini

has jo malone and diptyque and byredo candles around the house and eucalyptus and lavender in the shower

keeps pictures of her friends on her fridge door with cute magnets

keeps l'occitane hand creams and summer fridays lip balms in every bag and in her car

wears dior lip oils and ysl lipsticks but loves a red lip for a night out

has a set of pearl earrings she wears to elevate her outfits

drinks cranberry juice and matcha lattes and lemon water

has hand painted plates and cute glasses in her kitchen

i've recently just graduated from university and somewhat settled into my lil corporate girlie job, so i think its about time i started working on developing good habits and becoming the best version of myself.

i'm starting this blog as a way to keep myself motivated! having a pretty place to write down all my thoughts and find inspiration is much more fun than my previously used to-do list notepads.

some things i enjoy: perfumes, matcha, baking, cats, smiskis, photobooth and polaroid pics, pearl earrings, classical music, hot tea, and thunderstorms.

some other things i like: fall out boy, being in the pit at concerts, the color red, silver jewelry, stars and constellations, lipstick stains on my drinks, the beach at night, and leather jackets.
