First person's POV
"What on earth are you doing?" Jade questioned, disturbing me from my hiding spot. Only place that allowed me to feel some sense of normalcy away from the town and Colony House.
I spoke without looking up from the textbooks that I had with me when I got stuck in this fucked up place that only Stephen King could have conjured up.
"Studying." A scoff left Jade's lips.
"Studying? What could you possibly be studying for?"
"Not all of us have PhDs, that can fulfill us with endless job possibilities. When I get out of here. I need to be caught up on my studies. I need to be prepared to get back to my life."
I resumed writing down notes from the textbook, trying my hardest to draw the diagram of the brain.
"You drew the cerebellum wrong." Jade pointed out.
"It's at the back, on the bottom, attached to the brain-stem. I did nothing wrong." I defended, not seeing whatever it was that he was seeing.
"Here. Let me." He snatched by workbook and pen away, like he was some little kid taking back his prized possession. Once he handed it back to me, he had drawn some medical-grade level diagram of a brain that made my little fun coloured diagram look like chicken-scratch.
Jade looked as smug as ever; that stupid little cocky smirk he does when he knows he is right. Drives me batty.
"What makes you so sure there's even an out of this?" Jade questioned, sucking away all effort that I carried to continue on with my studies. I shut the textbooks with a thwack, pushing them to the side and leant against the tree that became my safe haven.
"If I don't tell myself I can get out of here. I don't think I could survive much longer. I need this hope. Don't take it away from me." The words left my lips, separate from my own thoughts, soft and distant. Jade nodded briefly; taking a seat beside me, putting his focus at the empty archway in front of us. Some other mystical clue from hell.
"I... I'm sorry for taking that from you." I could tell, in a sense, it felt foreign to Jade, apologising. It was nice, however, hearing him apologise.
"Haven't taken it from me yet." A nod was all I got.
"So... psychology?"
"Yeah, wanna be a psychologist. I was only a month and a bit into my first year. I was driving from campus, there was traffic, I had a deadline to and I detoured. Found the tree, then got stuck in this nightmare just like everybody else."
Jade nods, taking in my words, he stands up and gathers my things.
"It's getting late." With a sigh, I stood up, following him towards town. We both gather in the bar, I cover the windows up, something I always do in the room I reside in among the town houses.
I lie on the floor, staring at the ceiling, taking in the silence that would soon be shattered by the monsters.
"You know. I was really liking college, it was fun... I was making friends, finally getting my life to how I imagined it."
"Look... I know I a giant hypocrite. The more you think about home, the more you'll destroy any remaining hope you have." I turned my head, appreciating his words, yet the comment just seemed to slip out.
"Jade are you being poetic for once rather than all brainiac?" I jumped up, grabbing some of the shit homemade vodka that always hurt my soul.
"You know what-"
"I'm sorry, that was mean, I know that..." Jade patted the floor beside him, grabbing the bottle from my hands.
"It's fine. I know I can be a prick at times too." The monsters began tapping on the window, whispering, attempting to gather attention that could be tempting enough to lure us out.
Another swing of the bottle. The taste bitter on my tongue, getting worse with each sip.
"Which one creeps you out the most?" He scoffed.
"They're all creepy-motherfuckers."
"Just- okay? Please, just... okay?" My brain was choking, I was tired and I swear I was struggling to even function at this point.
"That smiley-motherfucker."
"Yeah, he's pretty creepy." As I closed my eyes, the taunting of the creatures disappeared and the world drifted into silence.

Winter seemed to stretch before you like an interminable blanket of scarcity. You didn’t know if this season were particularly harsh, or if the tumultuous relationships you had begun to form were impacting your perceptions. “Crime and Punishment” indeed. Caught between a rock and a hard place, there had been no real opportunity for conversation since that fateful night at the Miller Household. Not only did you find yourself vibrating with the palpable realization that Joel had his suspicions, but another patrol had almost immediately necessitated his absence. You found yourself slotted between the desperation of seeing his face again, and avoiding that confrontation completely. The anxiety of his potential return had almost overshadowed your own misgivings, coupled with the unlikely possibility that he might not remember the drunken conversation at all. Regardless, something had peaked his attention, and you could only hope you would have the chance to talk things out once and for all.
Winding your way from your humble abode down the soggy streets of the Jackson Commune, you were almost grateful for the momentary distraction of a commune meeting. You’d received a personal invitation from Maria days before, in your mailbox, and were curious as to the tonality of the discussion. As always, you were planning to blend seamlessly into the background as more vociferous members complained about rations, resource allotment, commune responsibilities and more. Stuffing your hands further into your pockets you were doubly curious as to why the town meeting was so early in the morning, and only seeing a few solitary souls dotting the commune main street. Had you mixed up the times?
Trudging up the solitary steps you headed into the main eating area that doubled for community activities, immediately halting your steps at the echoing sight that greeted you. The dining area was completely empty, save for a long table at the back end of the room with three chairs. It was seating for Tommy, Maria…and you. You heart dropped into your stomach as your breath caught in your throat. WHAT was this? Had Joel said something about his suspicions? Maria had always been shrewd, and a formidable leader, maybe even more so with the expectation of giving birth in the next several months. If anything, it seemed to have provided a clarity of purpose and a voracity of intention you weren’t entirely sure you wanted to be stacked against. You had the momentary terror of being asked to leave, but quickly shoved it from your mind, almost guiltily heading towards them.
“Tommy. Maria…” you began, feeling your posture collapse into itself though hoping for a more confident facade.
“Teach!” Tommy exclaimed, oddly mirroring Joel’s mannerisms for a split second, before pulling out a chair for you under Maria’s hawk-like gaze. “Thanks for joining us!”
“Glad you could make it” Maria politely smiled, a hand tucked under the table to cradle her burgeoning belly.
“Didn’t quite realize this was going to be a solo venture” you mumbled, reaching for the water that had been laid out for you conscientiously. “Is Joel back from patrol yet?” the words were out of your mouth before you had a chance to hold them back, as Maria’s eyebrows shot up questioningly.
“No, they’ve been gone for almost a week again. Patrols are getting longer and harder the further we venture into Elk Creek and Mountain View. Dangerous too…” Tommy begrudgingly admitted, rubbing at the back of his neck dejectedly. “Hate to not be with ‘em…”.
“We talked about this” Maria muttered under her breath, eliciting a sharp look from Tommy in retort. “You can’t lead every patrol AND lead the commune from within. We’re already stretched too thin, and I have my own responsibilities” she emphasized, firmly but kindly, as he nodded acquiescently.
“Talked to Joel” Tommy added, “before he left”. Your heart lurched violently in your chest. Jesus, was this is? The moment they asked you to leave the commune for good, finally aware of your questionable past. Unfit for teaching, unfit for living, unfit for…
“Told us that you were trustworthy. Like family”. The words hung in the air as you sputtered helplessly with your glass of water, watching Maria’s reactions from across the way.
“What?” you croaked, coughing slightly in the echoing dining hall. “What did he say exactly?”
“That was about it. Joel’s not one for lengthy conversations. We’re…uh…looking into leadership expansion and Joel said you were the one to ask…” Tommy trailed off, looking at Maria hesitantly. You stared at the both of them, uncomprehending.
“I have my reservations about Joel” Maria began, as Tommy hissed begrudgingly under his breath “but he wouldn’t even consider the position. His first recommendation was to ask you…” she stated curtly, folding her hands across the desk imploringly. “We need you to step up and lead” she finished. Your mouth parted in shock and concern. Leadership? Whatever suspicions Joel had about your past, he had either kept to himself or those opinions weren’t weighing heavily on the proceedings before you. You desperately wished you knew which one.
“But I’m…” you paused, unwilling to go into more detail, “I’m just…a teacher” you stalled, unsure of what requirements you were stepping into. If Tommy and Maria didn’t know about your background already, the moment they did, it would immediately derail any hopes of future expansion. Better to stay in the background as much as possible, while still proving yourself useful.
“You’re a lot more than just a teacher, and you know it” Tommy unwittingly bruised your disappearing ego. “You care for the next generation of The Jackson Commune, you’re an upstanding citizen, knowledgeable and friendly, and trustworthy. And we need you”. The silence was deafening as you considered their words. You didn’t want to incite suspicion with more deflection. Maria was about as investigatory as they come, and her pregnancy seemed to elicit an almost supernatural power of insight you didn’t want to overtly incur. As though perceiving your hesitation telepathically, she joined Tommy’s request.
“Things are steadily going to become more difficult for me as I approach the due date” she knowingly smirked. “I’ve got to be realistic about my own limitations, and start including others in the leadership process. I don’t know what this might involve, but can we count on your cooperation?” she almost pleaded, tilting her head to the side sympathetically. You took a deep breath before launching forward.
“I’m here” you stated bluntly, rubbing your hands together nervously. No turning back now. Come hell or high water, you were a citizen of the Jackson Commune, and whether they could unconditionally accept you, you were invested lock, stock and barrel in the health and wealth of the growing community. It was time to double down, whatever the consequences might turn out to be. Both Tommy and Maria sat back victoriously in their chairs, looking to one another in affirmation and resolve.
“Like I said, we don’t know much about the specifics, but as soon as Joel and the patrol party get back, we should have some idea of how this plays out” Tommy offered, standing courteously.
“Any quick questions before we adjourn?” Maria asked judiciously.
“Who’s Sarah?” you blurted out, almost covering your mouth with embarrassment, but holding firm to the question. If you were going to trust The Miller Family with your secrets, you needed a better understanding of some of their own. Tommy immediately sat back down solemnly, looking back to Maria tentatively.
“What did Joel tell you?” Maria asked, her eyes squinting cautiously in appraisal.
“Not much” you confessed “I could just tell that….he wanted to” you shrugged your shoulders placatingly, desperate to know more, but hesitant to push the matter. The silence deepened as Tommy and Maria seemed to communicate without words, Tommy haltingly stuttering,
“If…” he cleared his throat sensitively “…if Joel already mentioned Sarah, you could…ask Ellie about it, too” he clicked his tongue guiltily. “Just go slow, teach. That’s not a topic you should hover around needlessly” he intoned, tilting his head forward darkly. You sighed heavily, acknowledging his implied warning. Understood.
“Thanks for coming by” Maria gravely stated, gesturing for your exit which you quickly took advantage of. Leaving the large dining area, the blast of cold winter air was like a refreshing slap in the face, steeling your resolve and snapping you back into reality. You needed to know more. Joel’s continued absences were not only making progress difficult, but you had to admit the stress of longing was waring. Every time he left, you wondered if he would make it back, and Ellie must be feeling the loss even more intently. Perhaps you could seek solace in the company of one another. Standing at the commune crossroads, you finally decided to venture past The Bookshop. Maybe it would prove comforting, even symbolically.
Arriving at the door, you always saw the stark “CLOSED” sign teetering bitterly in the window, but caught a quick glimpse of a lazy, orange tail flicking past the bookshelves. Joel might not be there, but Rascal the Cat was. Trying the doorknob you easily entered to the comforting sound of the ringing bell, as Ellie’s face popped curiously from behind a stack of books.
“Joel?” she uttered, before registering her temporary disappointment.
“Just me kiddo, sorry…” you apologized, enjoying the warmth of the wood burning stove, but feeling the loss of Joel’s presence as much as Ellie did.
“Sorry teach…Joel is on another patrol, and Rascal was gettin’ restless” she sighed, re-stacking the books in an unknown order and throwing her hands up helplessly.
“I think I know how he feels” you commiserated, joining Ellie on the The Bookshop floor and wrapping your arms protectively around your knees. “Did he say anything before he left?” you probed, wanting to be gentle, but also gnawing at the bit. Maybe Rascal wasn’t the only one feeling restless.
“No, I just caught him the morning before he left again. Said you had talked the night before?” she questioned, her eyebrows raised with curiosity. “Did he seem okay?”.
You smiled tenderly, reflecting on Joel’s vulnerable inebriation, and longing to reach out and touch his face in that exact moment. “He seemed…tired” you confessed “and…a bit…sad. Mentioned something about…Sarah” your voice nearly disappeared as you second guessed your line of conversation, but found yourself running out of time and options. Joel was hopefully going to come back any moment, and you were more than ready to offer whatever support and encouragement you could. But how could you do that without knowing the type of wound you were encountering? Ellie seemed momentarily surprised and a bit unsure of herself as Rascal the Cat rounded the corner, butting its head against her shoulder playfully.
“He told you about her?” she began, absentmindedly petting Rascal and shifting with discomfort.
“He mentioned her, and you…and someone else named Tess”.
Ellie shifted uncomfortably once again, her lips drawn tightly in resolution.
“Normally, I wouldn’t ask, but Tommy and Maria seemed to think it was a good idea” you slotted the final piece of information in carefully, as though negotiating with a nuclear explosion. “If you don’t think it’s appropriate, please forget that I asked…”.
Ellie breathed in quickly, an inhale of relief washing across her face momentarily, before Rascal started purring contentedly. “Just don’t tell Joel that I told you” she looked around conspiratorially as though expecting him to pop into the room clandestinely without her knowledge. “Sarah is…Sarah WAS Joel’s real…Sarah was Joel’s daughter” the words finally cascaded forth, anxious for their revelation. As though in support, Rascal mewled affectionately as you nodded your head in affirmation.
Of course. So many things were starting to coalesce. Joel’s protection of Ellie, his isolation, the supportive father figure that he was. Steeling yourself against the barrage of emotion you sat in silence wondering at the many twists and turns of life and death. You continued to feel helpless in the face of such insurmountable suffering. Maybe the only comfort you could provide was a solace for confession and expression in a world of silent punishments, and maybe it would have to be enough. “And Tess?” you gently added.
“I don’t like talking about Tess” Ellie huffed, moving Rascal off of her lap as he smugly trotted away. “She saved me and Joel, and then she died. And it pissed me off, if I’m being honest” she barreled through the admonition, leaning back against the bookshelf resignedly before quietly smiling. “Not sure what that is” she pondered, fingering the pages of the nearby books pensively. “Don’t see why death should cause so much…anger”.
You tilted your head sideways, once again surprised by Ellie’s preternatural wisdom. Circumstances may have catapulted the next generation into a premature adulthood, but there was a lot to be learned from the ranks coming up. “Death is one of the most visceral of all human experiences, and we get to fully inhabit our humanity when we wrestle with it. It’s like a dance. A beautiful, horrible dance” you offered, just as perplexed as Ellie was.
“I’m glad Joel has you” Ellie whispered, tightly hugging her abdomen as though she were about to pull apart.
“I’m not the only one you guys have” you nudged Ellie’s boot with your outstretched foot as she hesitantly met your eyes with acknowledgement. “I’m glad you have each other…”.
The peaceful silence was punctuated by the wood burning stove, until you noticed a solitary figure begin running down the main thoroughfare of town. A quick intake of air was met by the telltale alarms of a returning patrol as you and Ellie locked eyes emphatically.
“Joel”.
Running down the mainstream, arm in arm you ran as fast as the lingering snow would allow, a small group of town’s folk assembling at the front gate. Your breath halted in your throat seeing the purpose driven pace of the patrol approaching, though not apparently in distress or escaping trouble. You uttered a small cry of relief seeing the bags of resources they had in tow, swiftly scanning the group to find Joel’s telltale winter’s coat.
“There!” Ellie pointed euphorically, as Joel’s formidable frame came into focus, galloping towards The Jackson Commune. Damn, he looked good. You squinted helplessly, trying to identify any cuts or abrasions, though he initially seemed to be in one piece. You attempted to quell the disparate emotions vying for attention in the overwhelming thrum of your heartbeat. This was it. Whatever Joel remembered from his inebriated conversation, he had obviously reconciled himself to whatever suspicions he may have previously held. Maybe he didn’t know what he thought he knew. Or maybe he just didn’t care.
You watched from a distance as Ellie raced to meet him, Joel cautiously dismounting from his horse as Ellie poked and prodded at him inquisitively. He DID have a few abrasions you noticed as you neared the party, Joel quickly making eye contact with you from several feet away. A smile teased at the corners of your mouth until you noticed the severity of his external injuries.
“What the hell, Joel?” you exclaimed, reaching up to his forehead concernedly, as he took your hand gently in his.
“Good to see you too, teach” he winced with discomfort as Ellie prodded at his upper arm. “Not a science experiment…” he grumbled, though his mouth betrayed a tremor of affection.
“What happened? Any clickers? Get any good books?” Ellie immediately interrogated, taking Joel’s pack from his shoulder and starting to pat down the nearby steed.
“Ran into some trouble up by Elk Creek. No clickers, but patches of raiders pocketed in the harsher territories. Met up with some scattered folks that gave us a hand…” Joel clicked his tongue begrudgingly, absentmindedly rubbing a small circle into your outstretched palm. That was new. “Found a copy of ‘Wuthering Heights’” Joel lowly intoned, his eyes sparkling mischievously, as you gawked incredulously. “Had to go through a heap of mess to get it” he whispered, as you slapped him good naturedly on the shoulder eliciting another small wince. Taking his arm in yours, you decided to save the chastisement for later, before escorting him to the medical facilities for a quick check.
“Looks like I can start assigning even more homework for our next adventure” you teased, so thankful to have Joel back in your sights and back in the safety of the commune. Maybe you were starting to believe in happy endings.
“Well, as I live and breathe! If it isn’t ‘The Teach!’”
A smarmy voice penetrated your bubble of happiness as your heart skipped several beats. You gripped Joel’s hand in a white knuckled vice, attempting to keep your face as stoic as possible, before turning slowly towards the familiar gravel, you had so happily escaped in year’s past. Joel’s face flicked to yours intensely as Ellie’s face contorted in skepticism.
“Levi” you drawled sarcastically, plastering a smile across your face politely, and gripping Joel’s hand even tighter. Joel positioned himself ever so slightly ahead of you, broadening his chest and staring fixedly at the stranger that stood before him.
“Couldn’t be more grateful to The Jackson Commune for welcoming us sorry band of misfits for a temporary respite”. Levi’s voice was as honeyed and calculated as ever, but you had learned long ago to distrust every iota of Levi’s practiced and sinister promises. “Looks like your Joel found himself between a rock and hard place. We were just happy to arrive when we did, and give ‘em a hand” Levi extended his hand to Joel who summarily dismissed it, coldly.
“Happy to get you back on your way after a square meal” Joel gritted his teeth harshly, watching your staunch expression, and growing more adversarial by the minute.
“Where ya from anyways?” Ellie squinted skeptically, already attuned to the tension in the frigid winter air.
“Oh we go way back, isn’t that right, teach?” Levi lightly touched your elbow which you jerked back reflexively.
“Let’s get you to the medical bay” you uttered briskly, dragging Joel behind you before he did something you would both regret. Joel clenched his jaw resolutely, watching your face intently as he followed. You tried desperately to ignore the salty tears cascading down your cheeks with abandon, but the heat of Joel’s gaze seemed to propel them forward. Joel might not care about your questionable background, but there was no doubt in your mind;
Your past had just walked in through the gates of The Jackson Commune. And right now, there wasn’t a damn thing you could do to escape it.

I think he's going to kill me. I'm going to die at the hands of Joel Miller.
Earlier while Joel and I were on a run, I found glitter. I loved glitter before the outbreak and I found some. I suppose the little things make everyone needs something to keep them going. Glitter was my thing. Joel's was guitars I suppose. I found like 2kg worth of assorted glitter, it was the equivalent of disneyland!
Now, in our house at Jackson, I was sitting at the table, making something crafty while Joel played a song on his guitar. He got up with a grunt, walked over to look at what I was making.
"That's a lot of glitter." Joel mused. I brought him down, cupping his face with a glitter covered face. Smiling as his beard was decorated with glitter.
"What are you grinnin' at? Hmm?" I pecked his lips, swaying slightly and continued at him.
"Nothin' I just love you." A smile graced his lips. Unaware of the glitter in his beard. An hour or two later, Joel came forward with his arms crossed against his chest. A not so happy face gracing his rugged features. This was it I was going to die at the hands of Joel Miller, my one and only love was going to kill me just because of some glitter.
"Darlin, I been scrubbin' my beard for the last twenty minutes, still can't get it out." A smile was all I could muster, a little shrug too. I stood up from the couch, going in for a hug and chuckled as he moved back.
"I ain't letting you get your dirty little mitts on me again."
"But I wanna bedazzle you again."
"I don't wanna that stuff on me." I gave him a look of mock pity, patting his cheek teasingly.
"Baby, I hate to tell you, you're gonna be finding glitter everywhere for the next six years. That shit is practically permanent. Sorry. Not sorry." Joel let out a low grumble, shaking his head and eventually rested a kiss on my forehead. Trying to wash away his look of disdain. It made me smile, always, forever and ever.
"You are a evil woman." I leaned forward, wanting to tease and taunt him with this glitter thing.
"You'll be finding glitter in your shoes, in your guitar, on your gun and even on the saddle for your horse and just when you think it's all gone. Bam! It's coming at you like a clicker." A sigh escaped his lips, there was a smile so I knew none of this was angry and that he really wasn't going to do anything. Even if his eyes held some kind of desire to act on whatever was going through his mind.
"I don't want glitter on my damn horse or my gun."
"Yeah but just think, whenever you find a new spec, you'll be carrying my love with you." Joel grunted, still scratching his beard. glitter raining down, it was a sight to see the great and powerful Joel Miller covered in glitter.
"You are lucky-"
"That you love me too?" Yeah, I am." Joel hummed with a chesty chuckle. Joel grabbed a hold of me by my hips, placed me on the counter and rested his hands on my thighs. Joel reached to my jar of glitter, dipped three fingers in and ran them through my hair.
"There. you're all... uh bedazzled now." He had a shit-eating grin on his face.
"Smug jerk. I didn't even use that much glitter in your beard!"
"It's gonna make up for the next six years." I could see this working very poorly in my favour. If I acted on the thoughts to sprinkle some around him like some disney character. I could see this ending in swimming around in glitter. A glitter fight instead of a food fight. Did I really want to be finding glitter in places I really didn't want to? No, I didn't.
"You've got your thinking face on."
"Yeah, just trying to figure out how I wanna do this." Joel grabbed my chin with his pointer finger and thumb tilting my face up to kiss my lips and brush glitter through my hair.
"What? Between not risking consequences and facing them? Darlin' I think you know what the correct choice is." I thought on it, trying to deceiver that suggestive look in his eyes. Should I play into his thoughts? Nah- I don't wanna give Joel the joy.
"I choose... no. No more glitter fights." He grumbled, patting my thigh again. Helping me off the counter.
"Come on, I'll take you on the that horse ride." Joel wrapped an arm around my waist, leading me out the door.

First Person's POV
Joel and I were running around some city, hunters had been on our arses for a fair while, I wasn't much of a fighter. I mean, I knew how to defend myself, Joel taught me and also how to use a couple weapons but most of the time it was Joel who did the killing. I could take out the infected, I'd be dead if I didn't, I had yet to kill an uninfected person yet. I knew it was inevitable, it's a dog eat dog kinda world now. Gotta do what you gotta to do to survive.
"Come on, I'll boost you up." I nodded, grunting as Joel gave me the momentum to get into the air and I pulled myself onto the platform and then got on my belly to drag Joel up.
"You ready?" I nodded and started dragging him up once he grabbed onto my arms. Joel pulled me to my feet once he was up and we climbed into the window. I hid behind something covering the platform we were on, watching as Joel dropped down to the main floor to take out the lone runners.
He moved with such ease, almost like a ballerina, probably not something I should say to him. Ever. I think he'd kill me if he knew I referred to him being like a ballerina. Joel killed the four runners without alerting any of them, once he waved his hand I dropped down with my knees cracking, creaking and crackling.
"We going up?" I questioned once making my way to Joel, he nodded and grabbed onto the rope/hose/cable whatever the fuck it was, he grabbed onto it, tugging firmly a few times before gesturing for me to go up first.
"I'll catch you if you fall, just like last time." I huffed, hated he had to reminded me of it, maybe I should call him a ballerina to his face. I grabbed the rope/hose/cable and used the wall to make my way up. It was hardest getting onto the ledge without getting into some ridiculous position. Once Joel got up, we made the hike to the rooftop, hoping to get the advantage on these hunters.
I got the plank that was discarded and placed it between the two roof top buildings. Joel finished surveying the rooftop and ushered for me to get across. I did so and ducked down once bullets started firing, Joel kicked off the plank and began firing back at the hunters who managed to sneak up on us.
"Find a way down, I'll meet you down there!" Bang. Bang. Bang. He ran away before I could muster a protest. Fuck, Fuck. Fuck. Not having any bullets coming my way, I ran to the door, closing it behind me and pulled out my gun creeping down once I gained a hold of my senses and remember everything Joel taught me if I ever ended up alone.
I was worried the bloaters would be in here, the stalkers had me more scared, I just wanted to go back to safety, when stalkers weren't trying to get me to die by natural causes of a damn heart attack. The worst part is knowing they're there but not knowing when they're gonna jump out.
In this building I had to deal with just clickers and runners. So glad that no stalkers wanted to give me a heart attack, that honestly relieved me. However, my fear quickly returned as I heard the gunshots growing louder the closer I got to the bottom of this tall building.
I dropped down from the opened elevator, grunting once more at the pain in my knees, I really needed to stop doing this and I know that Joel's knees were just as abused as mine. I did this little awkward creeping run, trying to stay low but quick to see if Joel was still alive or if something had somehow gone wrong. I got into the building, hiding behind the nearest barricade to ensure that Joel was still alive.
There he was, fighting with a hunter, his gun was somewhere discarded in the overgrown ground-floor. Joel managed to get a metal spike in his hand before ramming it up the hunter's chin. I did a quick survey, trying to ensure there were no more hunters, as I said before, I'm not much of a fighter and Joel very much knew this, so normally he kept me away from this kind of fighting. Which I was glad he did that, instead of ditching me years back when he realised how much of a fighter I wasn't. He ditched the body to the side, grunting as he did so. I checked again, making sure no one was sneaking around before making my way to Joel.
It happened so quickly, sounds cliched, but I swear it really did and I don't really think Joel knows what happened either. A hunter tried pulling off some ninja move from movies. He dropped down from the balcony, landing on Joel, causing him to fall belly side on the ground and struggle for air as the man wrapped an a cord around Joel's throat. I fired one shot, landing in the hunter's bicep. Fortunately he let go of Joel, unfortunately the hunter came towards me with a machete. The hunter swung, the blade towards me, I stubbled backwards like the klutz I am and landed myself on my back with the guy charging towards me. I fired one shot and then one more.
The body fell on top of me. I could feel his blood on me, god I felt sick and awful. Joel took the hunter off of me, I couldn't understand what he was saying, I could see his mouth moving and see the worry in his eyes.
Joel's POV
Two shots echoed through the building, the man fell down on top of y/n then silence. I moved towards the two, kicking the body off of y/n noticing the bullet in his bicep, chest and one in his forehead. Blood was splattered across her face and clothes, her hands shaking with the gun still firmly kept in her hands.
Y/n was beyond pale, I could see it in her eyes, I've seen that look too many times to know it would only be a matter of time before she's vomiting.
"Hey, hey, darlin' I need you to give me the gun." There was no recognition in her eyes, no acknowledgement that she heard me talking, I slowly crept forward and took the gun from her hand and rested it on the ground before helping her onto her knees. I rubbed her back as she threw up and flinched slightly as little sobs came from her lips once she finished.
"I-oh god I-I f-fuck. There's so much blood." Her hands shook staring at the blood on her hands, I brought her to her feet, knowing that I couldn't help her here until we were away from the hunters' grounds. I grabbed onto her shoulders, trying to get some senses back to her.
"Darlin' you gotta come with me, I can't help you until we're safe." Y/n nodded, that shellshock look still on her face.

First person's POV
It came in blurs, going between knowing where I am to flashing back to shooting the hunter, knowing that his blood is still on me and knowing that I killed a man. I felt Joel's hands on my face, forcing me to look at him, was I still crying? I don't know, I don't even know if I had been crying but just feeling all the sadness.
"I killed a man- Joel, I killed him. How do I make the blood go away?" Joel helped me out of the car, stopping near the creek, Joel lowered me to the ground, using some rag to wipe the blood from my face and guided my hands to the running stream to get the blood off.
"All gone." It was always nice hearing the gentleness, he didn't really show it much, at least not in the typical way one would think of gentleness, he had his own way.
"I still killed a man."
"You did what you had to do to survive. If you didn't you'd be dead or worse being raped and tortured by all those hunters. You did what you could to ensure you stayed alive and safe." The words sounded blunt and not what someone who wanted comforting needed but Joel, he knew what he was doing.
"Darlin' I'm proud of you, even if it wasn't what you wanted to do. You acted fast and you kept yourself alive and unharmed." Joel, brought me in for a hug, stroking my hair and letting out gentle hums.
"Come on, get into a change of clothes, we'll wash those clothes later on. You tell me how I can help. What can I do to make the hurt go away?" Joel wiped away a tear, leaving his hand on the side of the creek, doing what he could to try and soothe me.

The Last of Us masterlist
First person's POV
Out of all possible responsibilities in the Jackson community, farm duty was possibly one of the better ones, I hated going beyond the gates. I have no fucking idea how I survived for the first twenty years this shit-show has been going on for. So, now that I have a safe place, I don't want to ever leave it. Working on the farm, while yucky at times, was super nice, I got to play with the lambs, collect eggs from the chickens and milk the cows. Honestly, got no clue how we even got these animals but you know, food is food and survive, survive, survive.
I made my way to the house Joel and I shared. It was around 8pm, I had gotten all the animals into the barn and locked it up to prevent any incidents like last spring. Joel spent the day around the community, today, normally he goes out for runs out of the community to deal with the infected but he wasn't called in for anything like that today, he got to chill at home or try and do something productive because the poor man doesn't know how to not do anything.
Joel always has to be doing something, can't just lie around or chill. Always working about, especially during the days. Nights were normally easier, he would play his guitar and he would read too. It was how I found him in bed tonight, after kicking off my boots by the front door and tossed my jacket on the couch and began making my way to the bedroom.
Joel placed his book down across his chest, welcoming me with a warm smile, I groaned as I crawled onto the bed, moving under the blankets and nuzzled into Joel's side. I kissed his cheek, smiling as he snaked one arm around me to pull me closer into his side.
"How was your day?" Joel murmured, resting a kiss on my forehead, his thumb stroking up and down my arm.
"I helped one of the sheep give birth. It was gross but you know, kinda cool." He let out a warm chuckle, it was comforting and music to my ears. It always was.
"You've killed so many infected and that grosses you out?" I shoved him lightly, grinning at the deep chuckle that left his lips. It rumbled in his chest and gave me tingles due to having my cheek pressed against his chest.
"They creep me out too! How could they not? Besides, I ain't ever watched farm animals give birth before, not even before the outbreak in any kind of movie. Besides, those stalkers, always giving me a fucking heart-attack. I have every reason to be grossed out by both." Joel smirked at my remark, rubbing my arm again and rested another kiss on my forehead.
"Yeah, I don't like them either. Don't know they're there until I'm caught in a damn grapple." Joel murmured, moving his arm as I rolled away, I pushed myself out of bed and grabbed what's close enough to a pair of pyjamas and crept into the bathroom, I did what I had to do and then made my way back out to bed to find Joel reading again. I hopped back into bed, placing my head on his shoulder to read the pages with him, once again he wrapped an arm back around me, trapping me within his hold, stuck between him and the book. Joel adjusted his hold on the book so I could read the words better.
"What's this one about?" I whispered, quickly skimming over the pages he had opened, trying to see if I could guess what it was. Sometimes, before I decided to settle into the community and never leave the walls again, whenever, I went on a run, I'd always try and find intact books. It always made me happy whenever Joel, picked one up that I specifically chose for him.
"The Shining by-"
"Oh, by Stephen King? Hmm, I remember that Simpsons episode where they take off it. When the... I think it was Willie and he goes 'The Shinning!' Gosh, I miss tv." That was one of my favourite Halloween episodes that show did. Joel returned his attention to the book, at first I could read the pages fine, but with the silence and Joel's gentle touch along my arm, the words started becoming like hieroglyphics and my head started hurting from trying to understand what the fuck was going on. Nothing was translating and I knew I should close my eyes at this point but I wanted to stay in Joel's company awake.
Joel's POV
I had been reading for a good twenty minutes, lingering on each page for a little while so y/n could catch up if she fell behind. However, she became very still, her breathing slow and steady. I finished the page, using the bookmark y/n made for me after one too many times of being berated (teasingly) for doggy-earing the pages and demanding that I use a bookmark for the foreseeable future.
I placed the book on the bedside table, slowly removing my arm from underneath her, before rolling out of bed and ensuring she was lying comfortably, I froze as she nuzzled into her pillow the action and her quiet murmurs startling me into thinking she was waking up. Y/n really deserved to be sleeping more than she was, lately it had been nothing but work, sleep and getting up early. I just wanted her to rest up and not be pushing herself as badly as I normally did to myself.
"Night, darlin' sleep well." I whispered and rested a kiss on her forehead. I wasn't tired myself just yet, so I turned out the light and made my way downstairs to sit on the porch with my guitar and enjoy the brisk air and the silence of the community.

First Person's POV
While this town still terrified me greatly, I felt better knowing I had the confidence to walk around the town during daylight hours. I normally had Ellis with me, my knee wasn't fully healed yet and still need some help with walking about when i did too much too quickly and too soon.
I was heading back to Colony House after venturing into the town, Ellis met me halfway with his gorgeous smile and a bounce in his step. It was always nice to see this kind of joy in a place like this. I'm glad he hasn't had that taken away yet.
"What's up?" I questioned as his arm snaked around my waist, walking with him to the house.
"I have a surprise for you."
"Oh?" I smiled, it was nice getting surprises, getting presents when it wasn't expected. We got to the steps leading into Colony House, Ellis patiently waited while I winced and grimace my way up. Finishing with a groan as i got to the top.
"Do you want me to carry you to the room?" I hated when he offered, I always felt bad but it was much easier on my healing knee and far more comfortable.
"Yes please." Ellis carefully picked me up, making sure my knee was positioned properly before making the great climb up the stairs. I didn't know how he did it every day. When I went down the stairs, I'd sit and slowly push myself down each time, it was slow but I wouldn't whimper each time my knee clicked and buckled.
Ellis placed me down, letting me catch my balance before taking my hands into his with a mischievous grin.
"Close your eyes please." I did so, without question, I trusted him and was excited to see the surprise. Ellis lead me into the room, I felt as if he had me standing in the centre before he let go and moved off somewhere else.
"Tada! You can open them." With a wide smile, I did, gasping as he and Fatima held up a banner with joyous smiles that read:
Congrats for your success :)
"You should be proud, Y/n, you took the steps you thought necessary for adapting to here. Not many do that." Fatima complimented, pulling me in for a hug before stepping away so Ellis could share his little compliments.
"I hope you know just how proud you should be. It takes courage realising what you need to do to help yourself, it also takes courage asking others to help you. Now as a way to celebrate your milestone I was thinking of painting this on your wall so you can remember just how brave you are." Ellis pulls out his little sketch book and shows me a picture of what's meant to be me standing victorious on top of a mountain. It was sweet, heartwarming to know I'd be added to the wall of art.
"It's beautiful, thank you... could I make one suggestion... please?" Ellis nodded, his eyes revealing his eagerness to know what else he could do to celebrate my achievements.
"I want you both up there with me please."
"I'll be sure to do that, Y/n" We celebrated further with a little dancing, more swaying and a little wiggling on my part. Fatima went downstairs to get some of the alcohol and recreational substances she had that made most members of Colony House feel more at ease.
"Ellis, I mean this with my whole heart, thank you. I really appreciate everything you've been doing for me. It's... it's nice knowing I've got..." He nodded, seemingly knowing what I was trying to get out without letting the tears come forward. Ellis handed me a leather-bound journal wrapped in a bow.
"Tian-Chen let me go through the storage unit to look for something to give you. I know you like writing stories and poetry and such so I thought you'd like this." The cover was filled with swirls in the shape of a heart, it was a sweet gesture and I was thrilled I could do what I loved.
"Again, thank you." I whispered, hugging him tightly, taking in the moment of resting in his arms and cherishing his kindness. It was beautiful knowing complete strangers in times of hardship can unite as one to make these times better for each other. Ellis caressed my hair, the soothing action comforting and making any bad thoughts that clawed at the walls to vanish.
Okay, first of all, sorry for my bad English, but could you maybe write a story with Kalus where you are all together (his siblings and Elena, Damon, Stefan etc.) in a room and spend time together, or rather solve another problem. Klaus notices how absent you are and how quiet you are the whole time. And later you disappear to a quiet place where you can be alone but then he shows up? The story need to be sweet😪

First Person's pov
Everyone was here. Bonnie, Elena, Damon, Enzo, Stefan, Elijah, Rebekah, Caroline and Niklaus. My house was normally the meeting place, today was no different. I couldn't tell you what the issue was this time, I've been out of it for the past week. It's been hard, at the start of the week, I nearly got badly hurt while the next big-bad came along and after Stefan saved my butt, I got reprimanded by him for being so reckless and stupid.
I hated being yelled at or being near someone being yelled at. Ever since I was little, I've hated loud noises, so that incident at the start of the week just became a series of things building on top of each other. It was late, I was already overwhelmed and overstimulated, everyone was shouting at each other, demanding they be heard and that they were right.
"Dammit Damon! You cannot just expect us all to run around your agenda!"
"What else can we do?" Damon roared, I stared at my hands in my lap, fiddling with the skirt of my dress. I could feel Niklaus' eyes on me, they have been for the last little while, I have no clue what he was thinking or what he wanted but having him look at me, analysing me and my every move.
"Love, are you alright?" Niklaus softly murmured, I simply hummed in response, not meeting his eye or the disapproving hum that came from his lips. Everyone kept yelling, hitting my furniture in frustration, I could feel the tears bubbling and the prickling in my throat, If I didn't get away now then I'd breakdown in front of everyone.
While everyone was gathering around the table, writing out a plan for stopping this big bad, I slipped away and sat in my bedroom. I let out a shaky breath, letting the tears slip from my eyes and sobbed into my hands. I curled into my mattress, clutching my teddy bear to my chest and hoping all the chatter in my brain would fade away.
"So, this is the great Y/n L/n's bedroom." I sat up, rubbing my eyes, watching as Niklaus sat on the edge of my bed and turned to face me. I took a deep breath, pushing myself up and rested my teddy bear in my lap, watching him as he gazed around my room before his eyes landing me again.
"I am going to ask again... love. Are you alright?" His voice was smooth, gentle and even caring. On any normal day I could listen to him talk for hours on end, he had such a pretty voice.
"No... no, I'm not alright."
"Tell me what's wrong, love." It was a gentle demand, something I wouldn't fight against.
"I've just been feeling very overwhelmed and overstimulated. Got too much." Niklaus simply nodded, took my hand into his and rubbed his thumb over my knuckles. Niklaus hummed, his face scrunching up in thought before it relaxed and his eyes gazed upon me soothingly.
"I will kick them out from your home. They can take this to the Salvatore manor."
"Thank you." He nodded and looked at my teddy bear.
"What is this lovely thing's name?" I was grateful for the distraction, clutching to the arms of the bear a little tighter and smiled.
"Her name is Pebbles. I got her when I was a baby. I know it's silly... not being a kid anymore and having a teddy bear still." Niklaus shrugged, seemingly not bothered by this.
"Does it bring you comfort?" I nodded.
"Then why should it matter?"
"I suppose you are right, Niklaus." He chuckled once I said his name, I raised an eyebrow, trying to keep my own smile at bay from his sweet laughter.
"You always call me Niklaus. I don't think I have ever heard you call me Klaus."
"I like calling you Niklaus. It sounds nice, it just rolls off the tongue." He chuckled nodding, turning his body to face me better. I took another breath, finding the uneasy feeling fading away the longer I sat in Niklaus' presence. It was quiet up here, I could just here the others and every time I would react to the group becoming more vocal, Niklaus would bring my attention back to him by asking about something in my room.
My cat walked into the room, jumping onto Niklaus' lap, curling into him and hitting his hands with her paw to get him to pet her.
"She's a sweet thing, I'm sorry, I'll call her off."
"It's okay, I do not mind, your cat and you are quite welcome to my lovely presence and comfort whenever." I chuckled at the light sound of arrogance in his voice. He continued petting my cat for a little while until she jumped off and he took that as his moment to stand up and held out his hand.
"Y/n, I think you need some time away from these headaches. Do you trust me?" I nodded, I really did, not once had Niklaus used me for his gain, he hadn't betrayed my trust once and I don't believe he ever would.
"Yeah, okay." He picked me up, then sped out my window. Niklaus took me to a look-out in a couple towns over, it overlooked the water and no one else was nearby. The water brushed up against the rocks, soothing and peaceful. Within a blink he disappeared and within another he had a cup full of f/ice/c.
"Thank you. Y-you didn't need to do this."
"You are feeling down, a sweet treat can always help. As I am told." I took small spoonfuls of the ice cream and started swaying to the gentleness of the violin.
"You know my favourite ice cream, my favourite instrument and my favourite song. How?"
"I have my ways, love." He whispers, letting me bask in the peace of the music.

First Person's POV
When I arrived in this nightmare, it was nighttime, I was on my way home from the hospital after a two month stay. I had a total knee-replacement and I was finally able to come back home. My brother wanted me to move in with him for a little while, I needed support and he would be my support system, so I had majority of my things. I was picked up at 1pm and it was normally about a two-hour drive back home from the hospital. However, my brother took a detour after being stuck in traffic for 3 hours, he took the closest exit and by 6:25pm we found the tree.
My brother drove through this town twice before we saw them. Those things... while I still felt a little loopy from the medication I had earlier, my senses where there and something didn't feel right. My brother ignored my begs to stay in the car and got out. There and then he was ripped apart screaming until his last breath. In a scramble, despite the bursts of pain in my knee, I moved to the driver's seat and began driving to the closet building I could see in the dark.
This big old looking house stood in the opening. I got as close as possible before doing this awkward limp-stiff run and began banging on the door.
"Help!" I screamed banging on the door with both fists, pounding until my hands stung and went red with pain. Nobody came but I could hear them, hear them debating whether or not they should open the door.
"Please! Help me!" I begged, sobbing as these things slowly stalked closer.
Finally the door opened, I was grabbed roughly and then held at gun point. From there, I was kept in a room.
That was over three weeks ago. I still hadn't settled in. I shared a room with Ellis and Fatima, both of whom were wonderful and understanding. I hadn't gone outside the house since I arrived. I don't care if the day was safe, I wouldn't leave the house and leave the safety that had grown on me. I hadn't even gone to my brother's funeral... fuck I'm an awful person.
I approached Ellis with bravery in my heart, I thought too much last night, trapped in my own mind and after a small kick of readiness to adapt. He stared at me with his beautiful, welcoming smile and patted the space next to him. In an instant after I sat next to him, he wrapped his warm around me and rested my head on his shoulder.
"Talk to me." His voice was smooth like honey, comforting and inviting.
"I was thinking of maybe going outside..." I saw the way his eyes widened, but smiled as touch grew more comforting.
"But I need your help please. I don't think I can do it on my own." Ellis nodded, rubbing my side with such sweet gentleness.
"When do you want to start?"
"Now seems okay." Ellis pulled me to my feet, he held me close to his chest and we began heading towards the front door. We stopped in the small hall between the front door and the door leading to the main house. I took a few breaths, trying to get use to the feeling that we were close to the outside.
Ellis waited until I would nod, we would then take a step further until we were on the porch. I stared down towards the town, trying to get past the flashbacks of witnessing my brother be slaughtered.
"The breeze feels nice." I commented, trying to get my mind away from that nightmare.
"Is your knee doing alright?"
"Hurts but I'm doing alright for now." I rested my head on his shoulder, smiling as he brought me closer to his side and got me to sit on the railing. We sat in the breeze, watching as the other members ran around and went about their days. Ellis stood behind me for a little, making sure I didn't fall backwards after losing my balance but after a while, he moved to the side and only kept a hand on the small of my back.
"The flowers are pretty." I point out, trying to focus on the things that were good in this place. The more I thought about it, the more I felt like I was actually in the zombie tv shows I used to watch. If I put my mind to it, I could be like Daryl Dixon from the walking dead. I could adapt, still live my life even in the worse of times.
A week later, we got to the greenhouse. A couple of days after that we got to the closet town building to Colony house and a week from that Ellis and I sat in the diner.

I had been in this town for about a month, still hadn't really adjusted, honestly... I don't think anyone has. I feel especially bad for Victor, poor thing's been here since he was a little boy and surely hasn't had the chance to develop cognitively, socially or emotionally. I mean, it irks me when people get creeped out by him. Give him a break, he was a kid when he got stuck here, lost his family and was alone with mutilated bodies for god knows how long.
When I got stuck here it was with two friends. Maria and Bridget. It was meant to be a girl's road trip, adventuring off into the big unknown after our first year at university was completed. We chose to stay in the town, less people meant better chances at not letting those creatures in. I was insistent of ensuring windows were nailed shut and even during the day that the blinds weren't opened. Maria, she died four days into staying in this.... this prison. The three of us and the Myers siblings got stuck in the diner. The creature who dubbed herself Jasmine, got into her head, Maria ran out wanting to give aid to 'Jasmine' and from there it was something I wish I hadn't witnessed.
Kenny was there, helped deal with the pain and from there we became close. It seems trauma can either make or break relationships. It seems when Kenny wasn't with Boyd acting as deputy, we would be sitting on his porch chatting away about life before this place.
"Call me an old lady, but I quite liked my little room on campus. It was nicely tucked away ev, away from all the noise and chaos of partying twenty-something-year-olds and had a pretty view." Kenny listened intently, nodding along to the words that I babbled on about.
"We had access to a bathroom that most students didn't use, so we never had to worry about trying to get our turn in the shower. We even had practically our own laundry. Might as well as been our own house! You totally think I'm lame."
"No! Not at all. I get it, I missed having my own living area." Kenny reassured, his hand reaching for mine, he stopped before he could grab my hand and awkwardly manoeuvred his hand so it looked as if he was simply patting his thigh. I felt comfortable with him and I wanted him to know he could hold my hand without worrying about crossing any boundaries. I grabbed his hand in mine, smiling and reassuring him that there was no need to worry.
"How... how are you going with those creatures? I heard from Bridget they were pretty hard on you last night..." Kenny whispered, moving closer and gripping my hand tighter. I pursed my lips, focusing on our hands and shrugging.
"Just something I have to deal with. Not much can be done about it. We've done all that we can do." I rest my head on Kenny's shoulder, smiling gently as he reaches up to my hair and soothingly runs his fingers through my strands.
"I think out of everyone I've seen get stuck here. You've probably been the one to take it best."
"Really?"
"Yeah, while you cried at first, you seemed to just take it in stride. Adapted as you could, quicker than most." Kenny looked at the diner, pulling away from me as he rose to his feet taking me with him and gestured to his mum.
"She really likes you, thinks you're a good worker."
"I like helping out. There's not much I can do to help out."
"You've been here for a month, you're not expected to do much besides adjust."

First Person's POV
With a huff, I entered the Mikaelson compound, rested my coat on the coat rack and slid down against the door, resting my face in my hand. Oh god I was tired, I felt exhausted and just wanted to sleep. I waved slightly to Elijah as he popped his head around from the corner and I hummed lightly as he sat next to me and rested a kiss on the side of my head.
"I could just fall asleep right here, I'm not against sleeping on the floor, the floor is comfy and somehow grounding. No pun intended." Elijah's warm chuckle made me feel safe, I smiled as he easily picked me up and my bag, and within a flash we were both in our shared bedroom. Elijah rested my bag against the door, rested me on the bed and rested a chaste kiss against my lips.
"I'll draw you a bath, make some dinner while you're in there and then we can lay in bed together."
"Sounds perfect." As Elijah prepared my bath for me, I gathered my pyjamas and giggled as Elijah carried me to the bathroom, the vampire left me be to relax and soak in the warm water. He lit all my favourite candles and soaked the water in lavender bath salts.
I sunk further into the water, letting the water nearly swallow me whole, I don't know how much time passed but I heard a gentle knock on the door and Elijah's voice greet my ears.
"Dinner's almost ready..."
"Thank you, I'll be out shortly." I drained the tub, scrunching my face up at the gurgling sound of the water shooting down the drain. I dressed myself into my pyjamas, smiling lightly as Elijah prepped a small dinner set up near the bed so we were able to eat and then easily go back to bed.
"Tell me about your day, my love." Elijah cooed, taking my hand as we sat together at the small table.
"The test... I swear I prepared all the wrong things, I went in feeling confident and came out feeling like I studied all the wrong things.
"I'm sure you did just fine, my love. You studied so hard, I wouldn't worry about not passing."
"What if I failed?"
"You wouldn't have failed, If you did I can compel them to allow you to resit. I always offer and because you are so intelligent, my love. I wouldn't worry about this, I promise. You worked so hard to get to this point, there's no need to worry, I'm always here to help you with your schooling."
"Thank you, Elijah, I appreciate this."
"Always and forever." I smiled hearing him say the words so softly and so reassuringly. Together we ate the toasties he made, I felt like a princess being given the toasties. A comfort food, that I've had for years and knowing that Elijah knew all this made me incredibly happy.
"What about you, how was your day?" I questioned, pouting slightly as he shook his and took my hands into his.
"Do not worry about me, my love, all I want you to focus on, is you." This man made me feel so safe, I hummed as after I finished he carried me back to the bathroom so we could brush our teeth and I could do my skincare routine. Elijah picked me up after I finished, I giggled in his arms, smiling as we laid together in bed and he brought me against his chest.
"I love you, Elijah."
"I love you more, my love." Elijah would periodically rest gentle kisses across my face, he cooed gently, whispering words into my ear and rubbed circles against my back. I always enjoyed laying in his arms, I always enjoyed having Elijah wrap me in his arms, protecting me against all physical and internal evils.
"Tomorrow, just take it easy, we can just relax in bed. I'll treat you in bed all day, just a you and me day. No supernatural issues, you can show me all those movies you like, I can read you that book you wanted me to read."
"Hmm, sounds perfect," I whispered, sleepily, curling closer against him.
"Get some sleep, my love. I'll look after you."
"Thank you for being so great."
"Always." His gentle caress against my skin, lulled me to sleep, it was soothing and made all the issues disappear. I could feel myself falling asleep, for once sleep came in a gentle breeze, made me feel at ease for once in my life and having Elijah at my side made it that much easier to feel safe and happier.
I'd maybe have another Elijah idea, where you're like a teacher just like the female version of Alaric and you're a couple. One time you're over at his, trying to do some school work but he accidentally keeps distracting you with simple things like, showering, walking around in a towel all wet and stuff. So you tell him to stop doing that and he finally realizes what he's doing to you, so he tries to make it up by giving you a much needed massage to start with 🤭 (btw, don't worry, I know you won't write smutty things, but maybe it can be a tiny bit spicy? 😘) Love you !
Description: The reader is a professor and struggling to focus with Elijah walking around and doing the simplest things

I sat on Elijah's and mine bed, reading through my students' essays that I needed to mark, some of these students... my god they've got no idea what they're talking about. I rubbed my face, huffing irritatedly I took a breath, gave myself a breather and returned to marking through the essays.
I glanced up and saw Elijah stepping out of the bathroom, I pursed my lips together and tilted my head to the side. Elijah, the perfect god that he is walked out with a towel hanging around his hips. His perfectly toned body glistened with water droplets, I sucked in a breath and straightened up. I went back to marking the essay, my mind going elsewhere as Elijah walked around his room, that towel covering his lower half left little to the imagination.
I grunted lightly, trying to force myself to focus back on my assignment, I squirmed slightly as the thoughts came in and would not go away. I couldn't not think about Elijah pulling me into his arms, pushing me against the mattress and making me feel like jelly until I physically couldn't get up in the morning. I could see Elijah's look, I could see him observing me closely with so much love and care that it made the butterflies come to life.
"Stop doing that, please," I murmured, watching as Elijah tilted his head in confusion which was then quickly replaced by a smirk as he lurked forward and rested a gentle kiss on my cheek. Leaning in closer as he placed chaste kisses against my air, his warm breath sending shivers all over as he pressed another kiss on my shoulder.
"Stop doing what, my love?" He whispered, sitting beside me on the bed, one arm snaked around my waist and the other began rubbing my right shoulder, causing me to suck in a breath and shudder as he placed another kiss on my neck.
"Stop being so fucking sexy." Elijah pulled me against his chest, his cologne hitting my nose, allowing for a hum to escape my lips and a delighted smile to form on his.
"Am I distracting you?"
"You know you are," I mumbled, placing the essay I was marking to the side, humming lightly as Elijah properly began massaging my shoulders and rested kisses across my face in a strategical pattern. He knew all my sweet spots, knew just how to tease me and how to make my mind crumble.
"You're so tense. What's wrong?"
"These..." I needed to pause to take a breath, the massaging was honestly really needed, I was super thankful he could read me like the back of his hand.
"These students are giving me a migraine."
"Don't worry about that anymore for tonight."
"I'm gonna fall behind on my marking," I mumbled as he managed to lower me on the mattress, hovering over me his handsome features staring into my soul and gracing me with loving kisses that made me just crumble thinking of where this could go.
"I'll help, you just tell me what to do." I nodded, my hands reaching to take off my pyjamas but Elijah easily cupped both of my wrists in one hand and shook his head with a playful tut.
"Let me undress you, I want to enjoy this, I want to memorise every birthmark, freckle, scar and detail of your sweet and gorgeous body." I nodded, wanting to see Elijah's gorgeous features examine my body and feel his breath hit my skin as he teased and made me shudder in anticipation waiting for the moment to make this grand trick. Elijah dew out ever kiss across my navel, the warm kisses making me blush and arch forward involuntarily.
"You're gorgeous, my love."
"I hate that you can do this to me." He shook his head, his hand slipping my shirt off, a smirk gracing his lips as he easily slid off my shorts.
"No, you don't, you love that I can do this." He chuckled proudly, sliding a hand under my back lifting me up and gave me the perfect chance to grasp his face gently and rest a long, deep and tender kiss against his lips.
"I've never known you to be smug."
"Shh..." He whispered, lowering me back down against the mattress.
Omg i looooove you !! I might have another idea, just something simple like, the reader and Elijah are dating but his calls won't get any reply for nearly a whole day. So as worried as he is, he comes to your house, finding you terribly sick and immediately turns into nurse mode to take care of you and making sure you get better soon ? 🥺
Description: The reader becomes unwell with a cold and due to missing calls this worries Elijah and once he discovers the truth he ends up playing nurse.

First Person's POV
When Elijah and I didn't see each other we would have an hour-long phone call if it were possible. Even if we had seen each other all day, before I would go to bed he'd practically talk to me until I fell asleep. I loved listening to his loving, gentle, tender and handsome voice. I love the fact that of all people, Elijah chose me. A human. At first, when our relationship started getting more serious, he was scared of getting carried away and forgetting that I am a human... so he was gentle and I mean he's still incredibly gentle with me but he's less hesitant when we're being more intimate.
Another thing that I adored about Elijah was how he looked after my every need, he was thoughtful and would remember things about me that I don't even remember mentioning to him but the fact that he knew me inside and out about my likes and dislikes it made me feel special and cared for.
I got think, I hated being sick, half the time when I'm sick I can hardly look at the light and pretty much have to sit in a dark room. My bedroom floor was decorated with tissues, I looked gross and I felt gross. I hadn't been on my phone all day, forgetting to tell Elijah about the fact that I was sick and wouldn't be on the phone.
I groaned, burying my face into the pillow as my headache banged against my head, the doorbell rang a few times and it took me longer than normal to get to the front door. I jumped seeing Elijah about to walk in with concern and worry covering his features. I cannot imagine how I looked, I am sure that I looked just as bad as I felt. My nose must be all red and my eyes must be puffy. He instantly pulled me into his arms, stepped into my home and rested a gentle kiss on my forehead.
"Oh, sweetheart, I wished you would've told me that you were sick." He cooed, easily picking me up, resting my head on his shoulder and carried me back to my room. The vampire proceeded to rest his suit coat on my dresser chair and rested me on my bed.
"I'll run a shower for you, you know they help and make you feel fresher." I pathetically nodded, leaning into him as he rested another kiss on my forehead. Elijah got the warm water running, the steam from the bathroom sneaking into my bedroom as I waddled into the bathroom. Once I managed to leave the warm cocoon of the water I smiled seeing new pyjamas resting on the counter. I dressed myself and curled back into bed, waiting for Elijah to come back.
"I got some Vicks, sore throat lozenge, pain killers, water and chicken soup with the noodles drained out."
"Oh, you really love me," I whispered, pushing myself up and smiling tiredly at Elijah as he rested the soup on my bedside table, placed the water down and sat down beside me gesturing to the Vicks vapour rub, asking permission to rub it on. I stared at him as he began rubbing it across my chest, he had a kind smile on his lips and whispered softly.
"You must think I am attractive right now," I mumbled, buttoning my shirt back up as he finished rubbing the stuff on me.
"I think you're absolutely stunning every day I lay my eyes on you. There's never a time when you're not stunning."
"You're a liar."
"I never lie." He whispers. Kissing my forehead, smiling softly and grabbing the bowl of soup. Elijah proceeded to feed me a spoonful of the soup. Elijah would take pauses when I needed a break, he would stare at me with adoration in his eyes and would whisper words of love.
After having me take painkillers, then had me have the lozenge. Elijah brought me into his arms, stroking my cheek with a small smile. I fell asleep wrapped in his arms, my head aching once I woke up once more. I groaned, feeling hot and stuffy. I pushed myself out of bed, jumping to find Elijah right at my side.
"What can I do for you, my love?"
"I need fresh air, I feel all hot and yucky again." He picked me up as if I were a fragile piece of glass, I clutched onto him gently, letting him easily carry me out to the sitting area outside and rested me on the lounge chair. I hummed gently as Elijah began reading a passage from his book, a loving look in his eyes and his voice soothing enough to make me feel better and the low hum made the headache go away and everything seem okay.

Hiiii I hope you don’t mind me requesting again! I love the one you did for me! It made me incredibly happy.
May I request a Lorenzo St. John x female reader? This time I was thinking of a lot of fluff and hurt/comfort? If that’s okay of course. Again, human reader please. This time reader is very stubborn and always acts tough. She dislikes supernaturals a lot. She’s friends with Elena and her group.
One day reader gets kidnapped and threatened by an enemy vampire if the Salvatore’s. The brothers save her, but once she gets home she starts to panic and cry because she’s had enough and doesn’t know if she can take anymore of the supernatural drama. But Enzo stops by her house to ask for a favor and the reader acts like she’s fine but it’s obvious she’s been crying and he tries to comfort her, despite her not liking him much.
Ahhh sorry this is long again! I just have so many ideas….um ignore this if it’s too much. I hope you have a wonderful full day and night!!
Description: The reader is kidnapped by an old enemy of the Salvatores and as tries to pretend that everything is okay but fails at doing so.

First Person's POV
Once I turned 18 I promised I would leave Mystic Falls for good. This town is a goddamn beacon for chaos and danger. I wouldn't even be surprised if a hole to the end of the world opened right in the centre of town. One thing I hated more than maths was the supernatural beings that thought the world revolved around them. Of course, I loved Caroline, Bonnie and Elena. I tolerated Stefan and Damon but the others... the others it depended on who they were and what they've done. I tried my best to stay away from the chaos that the group got themselves into, sometimes it was relatively easy and other times it was damn hard.
Every day I make a bet with myself about if it's gonna be an easy day or a damn hard day. I made a bet that it'll be a damn hard day. I don't know what gave me that feeling, it was just that uneasy feeling when I woke up this morning and considering that the Salvatores had been kidnapped and beaten the last few days, I just assumed that the streak of unpleasantness would continue.
Heading towards the town square, I stood, waiting for the girls to show up, putting myself on edge due to the sudden paranoia that someone would be out to get me.
I don't know how it happened, or when it happened but I woke up, tied up and sitting on a mattress laid across the ground. I refused to cry, I would not let myself be seen as weak and give whatever asshole decided to use me as fish bait.
"Y/n... Y/n... Y/n..." I stared angrily at the figure, recognising the person as a Traveller, I rolled my eyes and stared at the figure flabbergasted as he slapped me.
"I need the Salvatores to come here, I see them with you, so here we are," I grunted through the rag, groaning as he pulled it from my mouth and went to speak but was literally hushed by the twit. He put his damn finger on my lips with a tut to silence me.
"Listen here... I don't care about how you want to run your damn mouth, I don't have the time, all I care about is bringing the Salvatores here and following the plan."
"And that would be?"
"Noneya."
"Oh, how mature," I muttered, hissing in pain as his fist collided with my face, I took another breath and smiled at the man showing that I didn't care and that it didn't faze me at all. I grunted as he shoved the rag back in and proceeded to pace the room. I couldn't help but flinch as the door slammed open and within the blink of an eye the Salvatores easily dealt with the guy and the adrenaline seemed to take away my thought processing and I ended up back home without really realising it.
I took a shower, got into my pyjamas, plopped down on the couch and that's when it all came out. I could feel my hands begin to shake, a tightness in my chest formed that made it hard to breathe. The tears came cascading down, the whole room seemed to spin and I couldn't stop my sobs from escaping. I do not want to go through that again, I do not want to be kidnapped and hurt. I can't go through that, this is all too much, maybe I should just move away? Get away from the town of death and suffering.
I couldn't tell you how long I had been crying for, I couldn't even tell you how the panic attack stopped or if it even stopped. I was sitting in a pool of tissues, I had already nearly gone through an entire box, I don't think I've cried this much before, I can't think of a time when the pain has been this bad.
I jumped hearing a knock on my door, I quickly and roughly rubbed my eyes doing my best to make the tears go away and hope that whoever it was wouldn't need anything from me. I forced a smile to my lips as I opened the door, surprised to see the lovely Enzo there, he was a vampire I liked and I will admit there are times when I prefer him over the Salvatores but also just like most of the supernatural my tolerance normally ran low.
"Enzo- hi."
"Hello, gorgeous... listen I need a favour-" The vampire cut himself off, he glanced around to the living area and then back at me. I did my best to keep smiling, not wanting to let my guard down.
"Gorgeous, what's going on?"
"I'm fine Enzo, listen I've got a busy day tomorrow and as much as I'm sure the favour cannot wait I cannot help you today." I tried closing the door on him, groaning as he easily stopped it and slipped into my home. I bit the inside of my cheek, finding it harder and harder to continue pretending that I was okay.
"You've been crying..."
"N-no I haven't. I said I am fine." I tried to make my words more pointed, hoping he'll truly believe that I was 'fine' but Enzo is smart and it was clear that my bullshit lies weren't enough to convince him.
"Talk to me, please." I wrapped my arms around myself, shaking my head, the tears inevitably coming, I could feel my lips quivering and my body shake as the sobs escaped my lips. I could feel Enzo leading me to the couch, he brushed away the tissues and sat beside me.
"Y/n... what's going on? What happened."
"I- one of the travellers took me and used me as bait to draw in the Salvatores... I can't deal with the supernatural any longer... I don't want to go through that again. This- this anxiety, I can't... I won't go through that again. I'm so scared Enzo, I can't keep pretending that I'm fine because everyone looks to me because they think I'm tough but the truth is-" I let out a sob that would prevent me from going on any further without struggling to voice my concerns. I shook my head, angry with myself for blubbering in front of Enzo.
I felt him wrap an arm around me, he lightly rubbed my shoulder, against all my wishes, I let myself curl against him. At that moment I didn't care about who was comforting me, all I cared about was seeking someone who would offer me the comfort I clearly needed.
"I can make it easier for you- I can... if you're comfortable, I can compel you... I can make it go away." I considered, that maybe it would make it easier to just disappear... make it easier to get away from all of this. I was about to allow him to do that but then I thought of Bonnie and Caroline and Elena... I couldn't do that to them.
"N-no, no. Thank you."
"If you ever change your mind... I know we aren't close, I think you don't like me at all but I'll make it go away. If you ever want." I took a few deep breaths, nodding and appreciating that Enzo would do this for me even after knowing that I wasn't his biggest fan.
"I don't not not like you but- it's not important right now."
"You know, you know gorgeous... I still think you are pretty tough, you know it's okay to cry and it's okay be worired." It felt reassuring to know that, I never wanted to let anyone down and I wanted them to know that I am strong and I am tough. That these things won't bother me or effect me.
Ahhh your writing is just perfect! ❤️ I dare for another idea hehe 🫶🏼 just maybe something where you're dating but you get incredibly jealous as Katherine appears back in town and you know of their past. So you think it would be better to step back for a while but Elijah notices immediately and misses you as you not show up at any occurrence. He later finds you at the Grill, talking with the Salvatores about that topic and Elijah eavesdropped the whole conversation, finally realizing what's wrong with you and feeling bad for this to happen, as he only has eyes and feelings towards you. Then one night he invites you over to his house and tells you about his feelings and that you don't have to worry about Katherine as she's long forgotten to him and he proves that to you that night? ☺️ Ugh I love cute and fluffy Elijah !

First Person's POV
Elijah and I currently sat in my favourite café, it was normally very quiet and once again today was one of those days. Elijah stared at me with admiration, he held my hand softly in his, rested small kisses on my knuckles and whispered words of devotion.
"I'm just going to run to the bathroom." Elijah nodded, resting another kiss on my hand and finally let me go off to the bathroom, I did what I needed to do and finally came back out. I stopped in my tracks, seeing a brunette talking to Elijah, he looked less than impressed, he looked pissed and I could only assume what that meant.
"Katherine." I simply stated, choosing to sit beside Elijah instead of across from him, the woman forced a smile to her lips the resting bitch look not fading from her eyes. I could feel this twinge of hurt and jealousy invading my being. Katherine took it upon herself to sit down and join us, Elijah let go of my hand and the once gentle and tender look that decorated his features was long gone.
"What was your name again...?"
"Y/n" I answered, hating the way she stared at Elijah, I knew of their past as Elijah had been quite open about his past relationships. Katherine nodded, shrugging and turned her attention to Elijah. I grabbed my things, kissed his cheek and pushed myself up to leave.
"Bonnie wanted me to do something, I'll see you later." Elijah nodded, staring at me for a moment, I walked out before anything could be said and made my way to Bonnie's house. I asked Bonnie to do a spell, something that would allow me to go under the radar and not be found by Elijah considering that I would be distancing myself from the love of my life to conceal the ugly green monster.
I had been cancelling dates, vague answers over the phone and would leave quickly with some bullshit excuse if Elijah appeared out of the blue. I could tell he could sense something was, I didn't want to mention that something was wrong and he hadn't questioned my actions.
Elijah's POV
Something was wrong with Y/n I couldm't place my finger on what it was, I couldn't understand what had happened and why she decided to almost disappear. I was missing her dearly, I missed seeing her smile, I missed her silly little jokes and her ability to make all my world seem so much better against all the issues going down. I missed her little rambles she would go on, the point is that I miss her and I don't know how to bring her back to me.
I had finally been able to catch the trail and follow her around, see if I could understand what was going on and it took me to the Grill. I stood near the bar, blending into the ground and proceeded to listen in on her conversation with the Salvatore brothers.
"I know it's silly of me but I can't help but be jealous."
"Come on, you know that the noble fossil wouldn't cheat on you." Damon remarked, a clear roll of the eyes that made Y/n whack him lightly.
"I being serious Damon! I know he has history with Katherine, when he was human he loved Tatia and then he found Katherine. What if her coming back brings back the feelings? I can't stand the idea of him leaving me for her and I don't want that to happen."
"Y/n have you tried speaking with Elijah? You know he'd hear you out and he'll be respectful of what you're going through." I let out a breath, I clenched my eyes shut, hating in myself for not reading the signs. If I knew sooner I would've done everything in my power to reassure Y/n that the only person my heart sings for is her.
"He's a 1000+ year old vampire, he has more important things than dealing with my petty feelings."
"Y/n listen here. Elijah worships the ground you walk on, he wouldn't think any less of you for worring about Katherine. We all know what Katherine is like and you have every reason to be worrying about it." Damon's response seemed to freeze her in her place.
"Thank you..."
Four nights later, I invited Y/n to come over, I will admit I was surprised when she agreed. We journed to my bedroom, she placed herself on the bed, fiddled with her hands and I took this as an opportunity to shut down the feelings of doubt and jealousy.
"Y/n the other night, I overheard you speaking to the Salvatores about what's been going on..." She buried her face in her hands, looking ashamed and worried about what I could possibly say. I sat beside her, took her hand and cupped her face in my other hand to ensure she met my eyes.
"I understand your worries completely. I understand and I want you to know, that Katherine does not matter to me. She hasn't for 500 years. All I care about is you, no one else matters to me, just you. I love you with all my heart, I love your smile and your little jokes. I love when you leave me a note with a little picture, I worship the ground you walk on and I will go to hell back to prove that I love you as much as I do. I am awfully sorry that you haven't felt as if you could speak to me and I feel awful that this happened. But please, my love... know that I would never ever dream of breaking your heart and leaving you alone. You have my word, I promise you that I won't let the devil of a woman try and break us apart because she is long forgetten."
She took a few breaths, Y/n moved closer to me, rested a kiss upon my forehead and took a moment before finding the courage to speak.
"I am sorry, I'm sorry that I didn't come to you, I'm sorry I didn't allow you to know what was going on. It was fair of me to shut you out when you haven't done anything to warrent it. Please forgive me."
"There's nothing to apologise or forgive for. My love, let me prove to you my undying and everlasting love for you." Her shy little smile brought a smile to my lips, I cupped her face in my hands, bringing her in for a kiss and listened to her hum as I brought her into my arms for an embrace, Y/n took a moment to breathe and whispers softly into my ear.
"i love you, Elijah. I love you more than you'll ever know."
"I love you more my love."
First Person's POV
Late into the night, we lay in each other's arms, Elijah and I lay naked under the blankets. My headed rest on his chest, he took my hand away lying across him and brought my hand to rest a sweet and longing kiss against my palm. The action was enough to keep my smile stuck on my lips and it was enough for me to snuggle in closer to him with my hand resting in his and his tender eyes continuing to made me feel incredibly loved and devoted to.
