I watched a video compilation of older brothers with their younger siblings and the way the little kids would just hang off their older brother reminded me of myself. My dad is currently contending with my older brother who is a racist that thinks black and brown people generally ruin the countries they move to now, more than the white men who hoard wealth and assault women. He thinks colonization is a joke of an excuse to have to move to his precious European country. Both my parents try their best to hide when they argue with him because they know it ruins me and I cope with it very poorly, but I can't help but look over their shoulder at the messages. I used to curl next to this man and watch him play assassin's creed after school. He used to ask me how I was doing and talk to me about games I was playing. All of those memories are corrupted now. Just an unfortunate shade of what was to come. Now he thinks he's owed something for existing as a white man and when it's pointed out he refuses to see it. His whole family is "denying reality." Nothing I say as a historian matters to him, because he's nursed a growing bitterness towards progressive women like my mother and I. The brother I looked up to for comfort can only muster "disappointment" if I protested ICE and got shot like Renee Good. I see him come over to drop my niece and nephew off. He still has dinner with us from time to time but hasn't spoken these views out loud in a while. If any of you want to beat him until hospitalized I wouldn't lift a finger. If he changes in the future, attributes this to weakness stress and insecurity in fatherhood and work I don't care. I won't ever forgive him. I'm not a god.

my youngest brother is the most normal and trustworthy of my 3 brothers and I attribute it to the fact that I dressed him up like a princess multiple times and painted his toenails sparkly purple before his first communion. This restructured his relationship to masculinity down the line for the better.
