A gentle smile tugs at one corner of Stark’s lips - with the warmth of not only Zoey’s company, but the element of her spirit completely indulging his senses. Hell, he loved it when she did that, and wasn’t at all ashamed to admit so…

❝ Of course I do, ❞ She laughs with him and kisses at his jaw briefly to ignore the smirk he’s got forming on his lips. ❝ You’re such a guy, Stark. ❞
Not that she’s complaining, of course ; she wouldn’t ask to change any bit of him. Not even that cocky smirk that drove her so crazy. ❝ Seems like you’re already ahead of me, ❞ She nodded to the bare skin of his chest with a cocked brow.
Stark mirrors Zoey’s expression, arching a brow down at his bare chest -- then playfully scrunching up his nose as he brought both his arms up to cross behind his head, giving a nonchalant shrug.
“--- ‘m always ahead’a you..” he mutters, keeping his gaze set on the ceiling above them “...’nd, you know -- prepared --- always prepared -- ready for whatever mood you’re going to be in... hoping it involves me -- but mostly you having to be half naked somewhere along the line...”
Her words almost take the warrior by surprise, even causing the smirk on his lips to falter slightly. Stark had thought she knew by now that he was never going to leave. That even if he wanted to — there would be nothing more painful than the thought of not being able to look after her.. let alone a reality …
His hand slowly glides up and down the curve of her waist, following up her side – where his fingers eventually find her soft, dark hair, and begin to rake gently through its ends. “When ‘ave I ever left you, Z? –” He scoffs..
“– You cant get rid of me – not ever.”
❝ You haven’t. And you won’t. ❞ She says it with finality, tilting her head up enough to look at him while her head is still resting against his skin. Her eyes close half-way as his fingers find her hair and she lets out a long breath, still having a smile pull at her lips.
❝ Fire, come to me. ❞ Zoey murmurs, eyes finally closing completely. ❝ Do what you do best; bring us warmth. ❞ And with that, the two were encompassed by a comforting heat that radiated against them, and Zoey could swear she saw the flicker of a flame on Stark’s skin when she opened her eyes again. ❝ Thank you, Fire. You may depart. ❞ And just like that, they were left in a comfortable silence, the warmth of the fire around them.

“Of course.” Stark can feel her grip tightening round him, flooding him with more concern. It was obvious his priestess wasn’t okay – that there was something more on her mind that could cause such un-comfort. He could also feel it. And knowing there wasn’t anything he could do to settle those thoughts of hers - it tore at his conscience. He was supposed to be her warrior after all.
“— c’mere..” leaning back down against the bed, Stark gently pulls Zoey with him - to where he has his arm snaked round her waist and free hand taking hers to rest on his chest. He eases a small huff from his lips, casting a smirk down at her – taking a moment to appreciate the contrast of their red and blue markings against one another.
She doesn’t hesitate when he tells her to go to him, easily curling against his side with her head against his shoulder. It’s a nice feeling, the way he holds her. It almost scares her how easy she can relax around him after everything that’s happened, but it’s also the best part of this. That even in the storm, Stark is her calm point, her anchor.
❝ And promise you won’t leave, ❞
She murmurs almost so quiet a human wouldn’t be able to hear, but she knows he could. At the huff, Zoey’s gaze turned up to land on the smirk pulling at his lips and she can’t help but smile, because it’s that smirk that she’d fallen for when they’d first met, and it was that smirk that she’d come to love almost as much as him, himself.
❝ That you won’t ever leave. ❞

Stark tilts his head to brush a gentle kiss against her temple, allowing his lips to linger there for a few moments – savouring the warmth of her skin – before pulling back to look down at her “Maybe you should try ‘n get some more sleep…”
There’s a small smile pulling at her lips as he smirks. It drives her crazy but she loves it and she’s sure he knows it, and the way he holds her closer to him is enough to make her melt against him. But she only holds on tighter.

“There, see! --” he shifts a little to the side, out of her way..

“Rephaim is an exception.” A narrow exception in Stark’s books - But it wasn’t like he could argue against it forever. This Ravenmocker, however, spoke just as well and gently as his ally – she didn’t seem dangerous. “—– Why?! –” Stark asks bluntly, his question jolted by the sight of the creatures yellow eyes. “—- why are you visiting? what do you want?”
“Do I need to have a reason to visit?” She tilts her head , eyes narrowing and looking at him quite confused. There wasnt anything special for her in the House of Night besides her Brother. “Ive lived for a long time ,young Vamypre. And there are no reasons for my Visit. I just wanted to.” Her claws scratch against her chin lightly. The Ravenmocker really had no real reason as for why. “Maybe I visited because your kind is very intresting.”
Maybe the Ravenmocker was telling the truth - but Stark still and probably wouldn’t ever have a reason to trust her. The only person he trusted these days was himself - and even that trust was variable.
“You think we’re interesting..? -” his nose scrunches up, a small scoff the only thing to wipe the smug look from his face “---- you risked yourself coming here... all for the sake of seeing the sights?”
Her comment is enough to make Stark laugh - a scoff more like - that soon causes a violent cough to suddenly take over him. It isn’t long before he’s recovered - it was only a small cough - nothing compared to how bad it was about to get… but still, Stark forces himself to compose his cocky demeanour; straightening himself, crossing his arms, and smirking down at the girl with a slight tilt of his head…
“You can talk —” the vampyre scoffs again “— I don’t think i’ve ever heard news spread of a fledglings arrival so quickly as it has for you…” he narrows his eyes “…what’s so special about Zoey Redbird anyway..?” Other than how captivating she was…
Immediately when he coughs, Zoey tenses up completely. She’s heard that noise before, the same wet cough that had come from her best friend before she’d died. She came back, but still. Zoey knew what this meant. She took a step closer, brows knit in concern despite the fact they’d been arguing not even a moment ago.
❝ Stark – ? ❞
She almost completely forgets about his question, but when she remembers, she shoves her hair from her forehead to show the filled in mark on her face, and tips the sleeve of her shirt off the shoulder to show the laced design there, as well. As if he hadn’t already known. But she figured, everyone else knew.
❝ Are you – ❞
Just as he was about to retort to the girls shock with a hearty laugh --- a wave of nausea does well to stop Stark in his tracks. Even if he had wanted to comment on her markings -- each of them he notes as beautifully intricate as the other ---- the boys throat had seized completely with a force pushing from deep within his chest.
“Z-Zoey..I ---”
The panic takes over him almost as soon as he’d started coughing; thick, dark blood soon violently finding the palm and back of his hand as Stark attempts to cover his mouth. And it hurt. Every damn cough ripping through his chest -- forcing him to collapse on his knees simply to find grip at the steady ground - the only thing not spinning - for leverage.
A small sigh eases from Stark’s lips; he should know better by now than to expect Zoey to tell him everything on her mind. He simpers briefly, cupping the side of her face — before pulling her in for a gentle hug..
“You have nothing to be afraid of, Zoey ——- I wont let anything bad happen to you.”
❝ What about you ? I know I’m safe, you’re my warrior. But I need to be able to keep you safe, too, Stark. ❞
Still, she relaxes in his embrace, letting her chin rest against his bare shoulder as she practically feels the heat rolling off his body. It’s nice ; warm and really comforting. A tattooed hand finds itself resting against hist chest, over where his heart would’ve beat had he still been a normal vampyre.
❝ I love you, Stark. ❞
