Real talk: love the detail of Vox calling Charlie "princess" up to this moment:

He uses "Charlie" when he *thinks* he's won. A parody of intimacy born from violence and domination. Moments later, Charlie will see Vox metaphorically rip himself open and ready to die. It's just all so tasty!

If we understand the complexities of Vox and Alastor's relationship as being supported by the interplay between intimacy and violence, we perhaps should apply similar framing to Vox and Charlie's relationship.

For that matter, many character dynamics in Hazbin Hotel follow this logic. Keeping in mind this isn't just about physical violence.

Charlie: W-whoa! What are you doing?!?

Vox: ... Showing fealty?

And like, he was not being subtle or shy about it either.

This man full on taunted and threatened a fucking seraphim angel. Without having an inkling of knowing if he would be safe from her wrath if she chose to use it on him.

Mind you, despite being an overlord, he is still just a human soul. And even overlord status is far below the power of a seraphim angel. And yet he still did it.
