Draco watched and waited, creeping ever closer to his goal with each passing year. He wasn't patient, he wasn't gracious, but once he finally gained the attention he deserved, he used it to his full advantage.

It reminds him of a hundred rings his father owned that looked exactly like it. The moment he lays his eyes on it he knows something has gone wrong. Curse Breaker Draco Malfoy finds himself in a spot of trouble after a job goes horribly awry. Not to worry, though. Auror Potter is on the case.

This was a collaborative project between @sits-bound and myself. We knew we wanted to create something special for Phoenix, one of our dearest friends. Pam created this incredible typeset. The stag plays an important role, so we did lean into this theme throughout the typeset and physical binding. The story also features Harry as a journalist, so each chapter header is designed like a newspaper!

The dust jacket features art by the incredible @amomorii and depicts Draco and Harry entering Le Cerf from the muggle world and wizarding world, respectively. If you wanna know why they enter that way, and why the restaurant has two entrances, you need to read the story! We chose to put the title on the spine only because we didn’t want to cover all of the amazing details that the artist included.

The case is a split board case which allows the bind to open beautifully. DAS shows how to make this case on his YOUTUBE channel. The physical cover was made using mudbath duo cloth, a two tone cloth that I LOVE. We kept the design simple because the dust jacket art is really the shining star here. End pages were marbled by Maleeka.

The only thing is, neither Draco nor Harry have actually seen the ghost, despite seeing the evidence of there being one.

Harry thinks there’s more to the mystery than that. And, unfortunately for Draco’s sanity, Harry loves mysteries.

It’s fifteen minutes past the end of Draco’s shift by the time Potter finally shows up for his appointment. By rights, Draco should have been in the line for the Floo; might have made it halfway to the front already. Instead, he’s rearranging potions, dithering over his list for tomorrow, alight with anticipation.

“Well, Auror Potter,” he says, turning, ignoring the little kick in his chest at the unmistakable shivery rush of magic that always heralds Potter’s arrival. “Two sickbay visits in just over forty-eight hours must be a new record. Even for you.”

Potter rubs his arm awkwardly. “Yeah.” He’s leaning against the doorway, clad in full Senior Auror regalia and he looks great – no, he looks well, Draco corrects himself sternly, adjusting his Healer ID badge. Either way, Potter’s clearly in much better nick than he’d been on Tuesday, when he’d caught the end of a vicious Algor Mortis curse and Portkeyed back to the DMLE hypothermic and covered in blisters. Draco would never admit it, but it had been a close thing, getting Potter warmed up and healed without lasting effect. A lesser Healer – a lesser man – might have just sent Potter off to St Mungo’s – but no, Draco had taken such care to rub the Frostbane Balm into (almost) every square inch of Potter’s icy skin. Such dedicated, painstaking care, until Potter was hale and hearty once more, chest heaving and heart pounding beneath Draco’s delicate touch.

He'd stayed late that day too.
