👠HATO HIGASHIKATA👠

FUCK IT UP, HATO!! What can I say, she hasn’t had a lot of spotlight, but her Big Moment in Jojolion was so fun, so wild. I’ll be vague to avoid spoilers, but Hato is initially a bit of a weird ditz. But, she’s shown to be pretty raw?? And really cute with her family. Couldn’t not turn this one into a print.

🗡LUCY STEEL🗡

Lucy in SBR is a hard break from the cast of girls in Stone Ocean - softer, younger, with less physical strength and autonomy from the get-go. The situations she’s placed in can be uncomfortable to watch a 15 year old struggle through, and the people she’s up against hold so much power over her. Her final moments with Diego are so brutally dark but the righteousness with which she carries them out are chilling. And then, peace settles on the story. A hell of a kid.

I love the contrast of this seemingly uppity and prim girl set up with Buccellati’s gang of wayward teens, and I really love the quick reveal that Trish is just as much of a goofy and lonely teenager as the rest of them. She desperately wants peace and home and finds it in an odd family. Vento Aureo is a story about sad kids, and Trish finding strength in herself and friendship among the cast is tender. Soft and scrappy. An important teen girl gangstar.

🌟HOLLY KUJO-JOESTAR🌟

The most beloved mom in anime and the reason for the season!!  I love to imagine that Holly would look a bit more like a mix of her parents, rather than just a copy of Suzi - taller, with dark, thicker eyebrows. Her spotlight is cut short, but she is the beautiful heart of SDC, and a representation of everything the Joestar family tries to preserve and protect in their constant fights.
