been playing a lot of marvel rivals. like a fool . remembering how much i loved gotg back in the day b4 the mcu replaced groot wit a marketable baby
One thing about Guardians Vol 3 that gets me is that Rocket was able to face his past and release it. That after all that time trying to act like the worst and pushing people away, he was finally able to accept he was loved and that he was worthy of that love.
That is a place I have yet to reach. It is a difficult thing to truly internalise, but he gives me hope.
We were all innocent beings once, just trying to get by in the world. The fierce compassion I feel for him (and others) I am making sure to turn inward. I hope you all do too.

some fast sketches with cowboy starlord anddd gamora
⬇️ sketch of cowboy starlord from 2025.
I thought that said “creep (autistic) - radiohead”
No
"Okay Quill now crash into those 2 towers."
"Rocket what the fuck"
this just made me realize mcu!starlord must've found out about 9/11 either at Infinity War while they were searching for thanos or at Endgame
That conversation must've been wild
Or now that he's moved back to earth for no reason
honestly I dont know which scenario would be funnier
Star-Lord: I haven't seen New York City since the eighties! On TV... But the view from the Avengers tower is so good! But I could've sworn there were twin towers...
All the other Avengers: ...
he starts describing the towers to his alien friends and its extremely clear how excited he was to visit them because his mother did when she was young or something meanwhile in the background we can see the avengers panicking because how are they gonna tell him
Tf have they been doing for THIS LONG
Update

AGHHH IM GONNA SOB WHY DOES EVERYONE LEAVEEE WHETHER ITS DYING OR GETTING BUSY OR JUST BULLYING ME IR AGHDBTHRBENDNDNF FNFNT IM GONNA CRYYYY
I took a deep breath and tried to channel my inner Kevin Bacon. He would know how to handle this situation. He would charm the missile-wielding guy, befriend the flight attendant, and teach Billy the proper way to blow his nose.
rocket, you’re drunk
Quill wanting to grab the scruff of rockets neck and launching him into the sun anytime he says smth that pisses him off like how best friends do

The barn door slammed shut, cutting off the late Missouri morning sun and plunging the space back into a dim, dusty haze. Peter Quill, age ten, stood facing his friends, a triumphant, slightly wobbly smile on his face.
“Good news, guys!” he announced, holding his arms out wide. “Drax is off the chain!”
For a heartbeat, there was only the sound of a distant crow and the gentle chewing of Groot. Then, chaos.
Rocket, his fur matted with burned patches and homemade salve, fumbled for a dismantled energy cell on the workbench. “You mean you set him free?!”
“No, no,” Peter said, shaking his head as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “Off the chain. It’s Earth-speak for he’s cool.”
The collective tension in Gamora, Nebula, and Groot eased by a fraction. They lowered their stances. Peter’s smile widened.
“Which is why I set him free.”
The barn door, which Peter had just closed, now creaked open again. Framed in the sunlight was Drax the Destroyer. He stood there, immense and silent, no longer restrained. He blinked slowly, adapting to the light.
Rocket let out a sound that was half-scream, half-growl. “YOU LET THAT MANIAC LOOSE?!” He pointed a bandaged paw, gesturing wildly at the group’s various injuries. “He tried to turn us into paste! He used my own tech against me! Look at my fur! It’s gonna take months to grow back!”
From a bale of hay where he was propped up, Yondu Udonta coughed, a wet, ragged sound. He spat a glob of phlegm and blood into the dust. “The rat’s right, boy. That green freak snapped my arrow and tried to feed ‘em to me. You think Kevin Bacon ever had to have a raccoon perform back-alley surgery on him to dig arrowhead shrapnel out of his gullet?” His crimson eyes narrowed to slits. Kraglin, cradling his broken arm and multiple bruised ribs beside him, just moaned softly, “I still feel dead. This has gotta be a bad afterlife.”
Gamora stepped forward, her young face a mask of cold fury. “He tried to kill me and my sister. He called us ‘spawn of Thanos’ and did not care that we are children.”
Drax listened to the litany of his crimes, his face a landscape of profound shame. He did not defend himself. Instead, he stepped fully into the barn, the floorboards groaning under his weight. He walked to the center of the room and stopped, then held out his thick, scarred wrists, presenting them as if for manacles.
“They speak the truth,” he rumbled, his voice low and devoid of its previous roaring fury. “My rage was a blindness. I have caused you great harm. I offer no excuse.” He bowed his head. “I will accept whatever fate you choose. Imprisonment. Death.” He swallowed hard, the words physically painful. “Even… even being a slave once more.”
Peter’s heart clenched. He remembered the raw pain in Drax’s voice when he’d spoken of the arena, of the brand he hid on his arm. To offer that up was to offer the deepest part of his soul for punishment. Peter looked at his friends, his eyes wide and pleading. Please, his look said. See what I see.
A heavy silence fell. Gamora looked at Nebula, who gave a tiny, almost imperceptible shrug. Rocket muttered a string of untranslatable curses under his breath but didn’t raise his weapon. Groot, perched on a high beam, simply watched.
It was Yondu who broke the stalemate. With a tremendous groan, he pushed himself to his feet, leaning heavily on Kraglin, who whimpered at the movement. “That’s it. I’ve had my fill of this backward mudball and it’s even more backward problems.” He fixed Peter with a stern glare. “You got a heart too big for your own good, boy. It’s gonna get you killed one day.” He started a slow, pained limp toward the door. “Kraglin. We’re leavin’. If I never see you lot, or this planet, again, it’ll be too soon.”
Peter couldn’t help a small, smug smile. “He says that every time,” he whispered to Drax. “But he always comes back.”
Drax didn’t hear him. He was still staring at his empty, outstretched wrists, bewildered. The expected punishment did not come. The chains did not snap back on. The blow did not fall. He slowly lowered his hands, turning them over as if seeing them for the first time.
The barn was quiet again, save for the sputtering roar of the Eclector’s auxiliary pod firing up in the south pasture. Drax stood, a monument of confusion in the middle of the dusty space.
“You are… not going to execute me?” he asked, his voice barely a whisper.
“Nah,” Rocket grumbled, hopping down from the workbench and wincing as he landed on a tender spot. “Turns out we’re idiots. A pack of sentimental idiots.” He jabbed a thumb at Peter. “Blame the star-shooter.”
Gamora approached Drax cautiously, her posture still defensive. “We are not our fathers,” she stated, her voice firm. “And you are not your rage. Peter believes there is more to you. We will… see.”
Drax looked from her to Peter, the simple kindness an equation he could not solve. He had offered them his life, and they had instead given him a reprieve. It was more alien to him than any planet he’d ever been on.
The moment was shattered by the screen door of the farmhouse slamming shut. Jason Quill stood on the porch, squinting into the barn. He’d been in town for groceries, and the beat-up pickup truck was now parked haphazardly by the fence.
“Peter?” he called out. “Everything alright in there? Sounded like a commotion.” He started walking toward the barn, his boots crunching on the gravel path.
Peter’s eyes went wide with panic. He’d been so focused on Drax’s redemption arc he’d completely forgotten the third act: Grandpa.
“Uh, yeah! Everything’s cool, Grandpa! Super cool!” Peter yelled back, his voice cracking with nerves. He frantically gestured at Drax. “Hide! Or… just… try to look small! And friendly!”
Drax frowned. “I do not know how to look ‘small’. It is a physical impossibility.” He puffed out his chest slightly.
“Then just don’t look like you tried to kill everyone yesterday!” Peter hissed.
Was this a TMNT 2012 reference??
I know this is kind of an unpopular opinion but I actually really like Peter's base design in this game. Especially compared to a lot of Chris Pratt-ified designs there are in various media after the movies.
Look at him. You're telling me this loser (affectionate) bagged a Kree warrior and accidentally had a daughter with her even though she knew how dangerous it is with how the Kree are about mixing blood? The haircut could be a little better but otherwise he's perfect, 10/10.
