Looking to buy a cane and I really don't like how mobility aids are always marketed for the elderly, like there's nothing wrong with being old but I'm not old and I need this too. It makes me feel like I'm wrong for needing it and really re-enforces that idea the people my age are "too young" to have problems. I had the same thing when I bought my shower chair also, it's embarrassing and isolating. We need more representation for younger disabled people

- Liquid IV / sports drinks
- COMPRESSION SOCKS!
- cold / cool weather
- using a cane if I'm going to be walking alot
- (making my cane cute)
- bed rotting~
- sitting up for a few seconds before I stand
- doing floor / sitting workouts instead of standing
- showering sitting down when I have a flare up
- Pain killers (I like the chewable advil because I can't swallow a pill)
- having deep reset days when my symptoms are down
☆ having imposter syndrome with my cane is weird☆
I went into Costco with my cane and I felt like I didn't even need it at all. I was really sitting there thinking I was faking being disabled or something. But then, when I was walking to my car and standing at the checkout, I felt like I was DYING!
I definitely need my cane, but only sometimes, like when I have random POTS flare-ups. It's so weird!
Am I the only one???

I'm not really nervous about using my cane in public anymore because it really helps with pain and my dizziness. I did get a few stares from grown ass adults, but it didn't bother me (they were definitely just looking at my amazing outfit lol).
All that happened was my friends mom thought I was hurt, A lady in a wheelchair said my cane was cute, and my friend kept touching my cane (which was fine with me because we're cool like that)

☆ I used my cane in public for the first time to an appointment today + I got officially diagnosed with POTS ☆
I did get a bunch of stares from younger kids (like 3-8), but it didn't really bother me. No one said anything about my cane, and I feel way better about using it in public.
Also I'm still having a bad flare up so my cane helped so much, i didn't have to sit down as much! I'm using it everywhere now.

☆Cane update☆
The cane i ordered on Amazon is taking a MONTH to get here, so I got a cheap one from my local store to help until I get the package.
Even though my cane is cheap and not really sturdy, it's helped a lot with my balance, standing up and walking up stairs. I feel way more stable now.
I've only used my cane inside my house because I'm worried about other people's opinions... So I've been holding onto my family members' arms for support outside, lol.
☆ Any tips to feel more comfortable with my cane in public?
I just order my walking cane and the next day I had the worst flare up ever.
I know it will help but I'm worried about using it in school because I don't want to awnser questions.
I'm probably not going to use it in school because I sit down at a desk 99% of the time, but I'll carry it in my backpack just in case. Idk.
