“Hey Y/N, are you alright? We can take a break so that you can have a few minutes” I heard my director say. I had been cast in a new movie that coming out. However, today I hadn’t been feeling the best. I was feeling really dizzy and light-headed. I figured I was just dehydrated, so I’d been drinking tons of water, hoping that would fix it.

“No no no, I’m good. I promise” I reassured the director. “Alright, if you say so. Action” the director called out.

“Tanya, we have to do something about this, we can’t just sit around and do nothing” my costar, Rachelle, said, starting the scene. “I know we do, but is this really our only option? There has to be a better option, right?” I recited my line.

I felt very weak, I could feel my legs start to shake underneath me. Rachelle was saying her next line, but I couldn’t hear it. Everything started to sound mumbled. It felt like the room was spinning. I couldn’t hear what was happening, I just heard ringing.

Rachelle stepped toward me and grabbed my arms to hold me up. She asked me a question, but I couldn’t tell what she was saying. My eyelids started to feel heavier and heavier and then everything went black.

I heard a distant beeping sound. Over and over and over again. Slowly, I opened my eyes and tried to figure out where I was and what was beeping.

The room was very bright and it took my eyes a second to adjust. I saw white walls and a monitor next to me. Then, I recognized that I was in a hospital room. I looked over and saw Pippa sitting in a chair, next to me. Pippa was my long term girlfriend and the love of my life.

“Hey, you’re awake” she said, looking up from her book. She set the book down and grabbed my hand. “What’s going on?” I asked her confused. “You fainted at work. They’ve been running all sorts of tests to figure out what happened. I was so worried when Rachelle called me. All I heard was hospital and I panicked. I’m glad you’re okay though” she said, kissing the back of my hand.

There was a knock at the door and we both looked over and saw the doctor in the doorway. “Look who's awake” he said, walking into the room. “Doctor, do you what happened?” Pippa asked him.

“We ran brain imaging and a bunch of tests and we know that you don’t have a concussion or anything other serious issues” the doctor explained. “But why did Y/N pass out? She’s never fainted before” Pippa asked.

“Well we ran another test, just as a precaution really. But we found out that Y/N is pregnant. Fainting during the first trimester is really common, so it’s nothing to worry about. Just be careful and don’t over exert yourself” the doctor said, leaving the room and closing the door on his way out.

I was so stunned, I didn’t know how to react. I had never been more happy in my life. It didn’t feel real, but I seemed to have forgotten how to move or speak.

Pippa and I had been trying to get pregnant for a while, through a sperm donor. We hadn’t had any success yet, and we were starting to get discouraged. Apparently it had worked though. I was actually pregnant.

“You’re...you’re pregnant” Pippa said, seeming to be in as much shock as I was. “I can not believe this, we finally have a baby” I said, smiling.

Pippa stood up and planted a kiss on my lips. We both pulled away and leaned our foreheads against each other’s. “A baby, this is big” I whispered. “Really big, but I’m so excited. We’re finally gonna be mommas” Pippa said, with a huge grin on her face.

“Now you’re going to have to go to the store and buy me all of my weird pregnancy craving foods” I said, giggling. “Nothing would make me happier” she said, kissing my forehead.

I heard Pippa’s phone ding and she quickly glanced at it. She smiled to herself. “There’s some people here to see you” she said, smiling. She walked over to the window that looked into the hallway and opened the blinds.

I saw the entire Hamilton cast standing outside the window. Pippa and I had met being apart of the Hamilton cast and we were all a big family.

They all waved to me and blew me kisses. I just giggled to myself, I loved them all so much. I waved back at them.

“Tell those dorks to come in” I told Pippa, laughing. She walked over to the door, opened it, and invited them in.

“How’s our rockstar doing?” Renée asked, walking over to my side. “I’m doing pretty good, what are all you guys doing here? You didn’t have to come” I told them.

“As soon as Pippa said you were at the hospital, we all dropped everything and came as fast as we could” Daveed explained. “We had to make sure that you’re okay, champ” Lin said, smiling at me.

“So what are the doctors saying?” Jasmine asked. “Well we have some news” I said, mysteriously. “Y/N’s pregnant” Pippa announced.

They all looked very shocked and then all of their shocked expressions turned into faces of joy.

“Congratulations you two” Renée said, giving me a hug. “Wait, I can’t believe this. The sperm donation worked? I’m so happy for you guys” Jasmine said.

Then the doctor walked back in the room. “I’m going to have to ask that you only have three people in the room at a time” the doctor said.

“You guys can’t even go to a hospital without breaking the rules” I joked. “Well I should get going, but I’m really happy for you guys” Daveed said, giving me a hug. “Yeah, you guys can all go, Jasmine and I can stay in case you guys need anything” Anthony proposed.

“Thank you all for coming” I said, as everyone gave me a hug. Jasmine grabbed a chair and sat down next to the bed. “I’m going to go and try to find a vending machine, do you guys need anything?” Anthony asked.

“No, I’m good. What about you Y/N, you need anything?” Pippa asked me. “Do you think you could hunt down a nurse and get me an extra blanket? It’s freezing in here” I asked Anthony. “Your wish is my command” he said, as he left the room.

“So you guys are going to be parents” Jasmine said, smiling. “We’re going to be parents, that still doesn’t sound real” I said, smiling at Pippa.

“Hey Y/N, you love me right?” I heard Lin say to me, on the phone. This usually meant he needed me to do him a favor. “What do you need?” I asked him, blatantly.

“Can you come to my dressing room? I have a favor to ask you” he asked me. “Okay, I’ll be there in a second” I said, as I hung up my phone.

I walked down the hallway and then walked into Lin’s dressing room. “Hey, you look great today” he said, with the biggest smile on his face. “You’re just trying to get on my good side. Just ask me the favor” I told him.

“Well I need to you to go on tonight” he told me. I was Jasmine’s understudy, so it wasn’t out of the ordinary for me to have to perform for her.

“That’s literally my job, it’s not a big deal. I won’t be mad at you or anything. I’ll go get into my Peggy dress then” I said, as I went to leave his dressing room.

“That’s the catch” Lin said, hesitantly. “What do you mean? Do I have to go on for one of the other sisters?” I asked him, confused.

“I need you to go on for me” he said, bracing himself for my reaction. “Wait what? You? Like you need me to play Hamilton? Like the GUY?” I asked him.

“Please don’t hurt me” Lin said, sounding scared. “What about your understudy?” I asked him. “He’s sick” he told me. “But I’m a girl” I told him, since he failed to see the obvious conflict.

“Everyone will love it, I promise. And you were at the rehearsals and you know the Alexander track almost better than me” he told me. “Yeah I know the part, but people love this show and pay lots of money to see it. What if they think I don’t take it seriously” I asked him.

“If you get any backlash, I promise I’ll handle it” Lin reassured me. “Are you sure about this?” I asked him. “Absolutely” he told me.

“But...” I said, trying to come up another excuse as to why I couldn’t do it. “What? Are you nervous because you have a crush on a certain other cast member” Lin teased me.

“Come on Lin, what are you talking about?” I asked, totally pretending like I wasn’t head over heels for Pippa. “So you’re saying that you aren’t in love with Pip?” Lin asked, raising his eyebrows.

I tried to hold my ground, but I couldn’t keep a straight face. “Ha! I knew it” Lin said, pointing at me. “Okay, maybe you’re right. But there’s no way you can ever tell Pippa. Please promise me that” I begged him.

“Fine. But I don’t have to tell her. She’ll figure it out tonight, when you’re playing Hamilton and you have to kiss her after Helpless” he said, smirking. I froze, I had completely forgot about the kisses. I didn’t know how I was going to get through the show tonight.

“Well you better go get dressed, love is waiting for you” Lin teased. I rolled my eyes and walked to my dressing room to get ready.

Luckily Lin’s understudy wasn’t the tallest guy, his costume fit me pretty decently. It definitely wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

My nerves were through the roof. I would walk out and people would laugh. I knew they would. They would be unimpressed. They’d probably leave and not waste their time.

I was brought out of my thoughts by an announcement over the intercom that said it was time for places. I rushed to place, hoping none of the cast would see me, especially Pip.

I got to where I stood before the show and luckily no other cast members were near me. I heard Leslie start the show and I felt like I was going to puke. It felt like the song was going ten times faster than it ever went. Quickly arriving to the point where I would have to walk out on that stage.

Then it was my cue, I walked out on stage as Leslie said “What’s your name man?”. I sang my line and I saw most of the cast’s reactions. There was dead silence for a moment and I heard a thunderous applause from the audience.

I looked over and saw Pippa. I don’t think I had ever seen her eyes so wide. Then a smile grew on her face and she giggled to herself. “I love it” she mouthed to me.

Then the song went on as normal. Aside from their first reactions, no one gave it a second thought.

Then we got to the song that I had been dreading. It was time for Helpless.

I made it through most of the song and then we got to part where Pippa walks down the aisle. I felt like I was sweating buckets.

Pippa sang the last line as she stood in front of me. I smiled at her and she leaned in for the kiss. It was short and sweet and magical and fantastical and everything a kiss should be.

We pulled away and I heard Anthony start the intro to Satisfied. As Pippa and I walked over to the side of the stage, she whispered “you are doing amazing” to me.

The rest of the show went great and there were barely any mistakes. It was now the end of the show and we were doing our final bows.

Then before I knew it, the rest of the cast had taken a step back from me so I was in the front. Then I heard Pippa talking into her microphone.

“Let’s give it up for our first female Alexander Hamilton, give it up for Y/N. A Modern-Day Mulan” she said, I could see her smiling.

I took another bow and waved to the audience. Their cheers were deafening.

Then we all walked off the stage together. I quickly ran to the bathroom before I went to my dressing room. Then I was walking to my dressing room and I saw a bunch of people crowded both around and in my dressing room.

They saw me walking toward them and they all started to cheer. “So you playing Hamilton now?” Anthony asked me, slinging his arm around me.

“One time only, Lin asked me to do it” I told them all. “I really thought I was going crazy when you walked out. Don’t tell Lin, but you may have been better than him” Daveed said, and all of us started laughing.

“Now I have an onstage wife” Pippa said, hugging me from the side. “Here’s to Alexandra Hamilton” I said, earning laughter from the rest of my cast mates.

Most people left one by one and went back to their own dressing rooms. I noticed that Pippa stayed behind.

“That was some performance that you put on out there” she complimented. “Did you like it? It wasn’t too weird was it?” I asked her, we both sat down on the couch together. “No, it wasn’t weird at all. I loved it” she told me. “So I guess according to the theater code of conduct, we’re stage wives now” I said, giggling to myself.

“That’s not so bad. You’re a pretty good stage wife” she said, smiling at me. At this point, I felt her hand resting on my knee. “Pip, would you like to go out and get dinner sometime?” I asked her. “I would love that, I’m so glad you finally noticed that I liked you” Pippa said, laughing.

“Wait what? You liked me? How was I supposed to know that?” I asked her, shocked. “Are you kidding? I made it so obvious” she told me. “Well I made it obvious that I liked you” I told her. “Yes you did, but I wanted you to notice that I liked you back” she said, smirking.

“You knew this whole time and never said anything?” I asked her, in shock. “Of course I knew, but what can I say? I love to scheme” she said, giggling. Then she leaned in and kissed me on the cheek.

Lin would cry the day you were born but he would also brag a lot.

He’d shower you with gifts but he was also careful not to overdo it

Chances are, (depending on your age and whatever year you’d picture this for) you’d be friends with a lot of the Hamilton cast/ and or their kids

There’s no doubt about it you’d be a freestyling genius much like him and musically talented.

And Lin would be so proud of this

Lin’s heart would melt every time you called him ‘dad’

He is probably one of the most caring, sweetest, and involved father out there.

And if your mother wasn’t in the picture, Lin would be sure to work to fill in her shoes.

He would attend all your school events and extra curriculars too.

On mother’s day he would plan a brunch inviting his sister and mother over making sure you knew you weren’t alone when it came to the amount of females in your life.

Whenever he goes to Richard Rodgers Theatre or goes to work for whatever project he’s working on he is constantly pulling his phone out to show his fellow coworkers pictures of you

He can’t help it

But one thing is for sure, Lin would make sure you knew how strong of a woman you were. Being a strong activist for equal rights Lin knew how easy it was for girls in today’s society to feel weak and defeated by the powerful and he never wanted you to experience that. So he would make post-it notes and stick them in your lunchbox, on your mirror, and anywhere he could find with sayings such as…

“I am woman hear me roar!” “Though she be but little, she is fierce!” “A strong woman looks fear in the eye and gives it but a wink.” “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”

And because your father is one of the most encouraging and inspiring figures in the world, not only in tweets but reality as well, he excels at giving the best, most needed pep talks when you’re down in the dumps.

Lin had you speaking Spanish as soon as you said your first word

Lin would practically document your entire life. He liked taping you and taking pictures while you were doing casual activities such as coloring, singing, dancing, playing with your dolls, running around the house, etc.

Tobillo basically being your best friend

That dog follows you wherever you go

Lin has thousands of videos from when you were learning to walk, practically waddling around and Tobillo was right on your heel the entire time following you.

The whole Hamilton cast would be obsessed with you

Especially Phillipa

That girl loved you as if you were her own

And if you were old enough, you would join the Schuyler Sisters in their inbetween shows closet talk.

Sleep overs at Jasmine and Anthony’s while your dad is out of town

And they would absolutely LOVE having you over

You made them want to have kids that much more and Anthony loved taking you to the movies and Jasmine loved taking you out shopping

Speaking of shopping, Renee, Jasmine, and Phillipa are always spoiling you with the newest trends and what nots.

The Hamilton cast would be like another family to you

Always running around backstage with Groffsauce, who usually was assign babysitting duty.

The Schuyler sisters- as well as Leslie teaching you how to harmonize

Daveed loved helping you with your freestyling

You and him always got in heated battles- in good spirits of course

And during Stay Alive (reprise) and It’s Quiet Uptown he had genuine tears pinching at his eyes as he fathomed the thought of losing you

But Lin would always run to you and spin you around every night after shows

The two of you would walk hand and hand together home and Lin would sing you to sleep every night

He’d love making you breakfast and basking in that domestic life

I could see him making some of the best pancakes in the world

And one morning when you were little, you convinced him to let you have a sip of his coffee

“Daddy, what’s that black stuff in there.” “It’s called coffee, bebé.” “Can I try some?” “Uh, I don’t think so, Y/n. You wouldn’t like it.” “Please, papi.” “Oh alright.”

Like he predicted, you hated it. The liquid burned your throat and young little you cried at the bitterness for at least a minute which broke Lin’s heart.

Lin would be the type of parent that would love to show you off to family and friends but when it came to posting pictures of you on social media, he usually made sure your face was covered, just to keep an element of privacy in his life.

But he does love tweeting stories about you or cute things that you do

Your childhood years would be a little hectic. Lin probably wouldn’t be around as much as he wants with filming, acting, composing and all but he would make an effort of a lifetime to be as involved as possible.

By your late teens you had already seen much of the world but that didn’t mean you were bored by any mean. Adventure was in your soul.

Lin would spend a lot of time with you during his time working with the film Moana. He liked to come to you to find inspiration.

Walking into your house one day after school infuriated as you set your pop quiz on the Schuyler Sisters in front of him, a large 9/10 circled with red pen.

“And I quote, I’m the oldest and the wittiest… My father has no sons… dad you cost me a perfect score! Why did you lie in the lyrics, I thought you said I could trust them!” “I’m sorry I forgot they had other siblings!”

Similar to your father, you swore like a sailor

Which also meant you were constantly getting scolded and death glares from your father who claims “He didn’t raise you to speak like that.” Even though you both know he did.

But honestly I could see Lin being into girl drama. Like when he picks you up from school and sees an annoyed look on your face he’d just shake his head and say,

“Spill the tea, honey. I’m ready!”

And on your bad days after dropping you off at home after school, Lin would drive to the nearest DQ and Chick-Fil-A and movie store returning home with gifts in toll.

He was one of the only people in the world you trusted enough to tell everything too

Dad jokes, so many dad jokes.

“Dad I’m thirsty. Do we have any-“ “Hi thirsty nice to meet you I’m Lin-Manuel.”

Your dad would be really big on making sure you knew and understood the importance of equality and treating others with respect. 

Weekly meals at their place where your grandpa is also telling tales

“You know pequeño, when your father was your age I couldn’t get him to shut up!” “Papi-“ “He was always doing his rapping, talking fast and never making sense but he had passion just like yourself so don’t you ever give up on yourself carino. If your father did he would not be where he is today- and neither would you.” “Thank you abuelo.”

And when you finally do make it, doing whatever or being wherever that may be, you’ll have Lin’s as well as the rest of your families support because Lin knows exactly what it feels like to have millions of people doubt you and laugh at you for doing the unexpected so his support will never run out.

When Lin finds out you have a passion for writing and composing, he immediately takes you with him for a daddy daughter date to the studio.

He pretends to be out of ideas for a song and you play along knowing it would be a lot less painful to take the easy path.

“Well there are a few different projects I’ve been working on lately. They aren’t too good… pretty shitty-“ “Y/n.” “Sorry… but uh, you can have a look I suppose.”

But for real though Lin would be insanely protective over you

Like when it comes to you Lin always needs to know where you are and constantly has eyes on you

When you got your first boyfriend/girlfriend Lin would FLIP

You’d suddenly become a player in the game ’21 questions’ or more like 101 questions when it came to your dad

He demanded meeting your significant other and no matter the gender, he held his strong demeanor and hardly cracked a smile- well until he saw how happy you looked in their presence.

But eventually he’d come to term with it. Although he would always see you as his little girl, he knew you had to spread your wings and he was not about to hold you back from doing so.

And when you finally land a lead role on an upcoming Broadway show, Lin is ecstatic.

Every day he calls you to ask how rehearsals are going partly because he’s interested and excited for you but also because he remembers his restless days and nights where he’d come home so stressed he’d forget to eat for days. He didn’t want to see you go through the hardships he did.

Ironically enough the new production is held, opening night, in the same old theater you grew up in, Richard Rodgers. Home sweet home. 

And on opening night you can guarantee your father is sitting front row with four bouquets of various flowers surrounded by all your family and friends as well as a handful of the original and new Hamilton cast.

And he would cry. A lot.

But he would also be that dad that right before the show starts, as the lights are dimming, he stands up and shouts,

“Go Y/n!”

His proud dad tweets would be never ending that night

After the production he was sure to be the first backstage and the first to hug you.

“You did it, you did it! I’m so proud of you, mi ángel. Congratulations!”

You’d be lying to yourself if you said your dad didn’t have a surprise party planned for after the play because he did.

Not to be a downer but there would be days where Lin would cry himself to sleep thinking he hasn’t done enough, or given you the life you deserve. He worked himself far too hard to make sure you had everything you could ever need and knew you were loved, but sometimes he couldn’t help but fear the worst.

Although at times he can be overbearing, you wouldn’t want it anyway else.
