I hung up the phone tonight

I was currently on the phone with Pippa, my roommate and best friend, who was also the girl that I may have had a tiny crush on. She was driving home, from the airport. She had been on a vacation, back home, to go to a family member’s wedding.

“So how was the trip?” I asked her, excited to hear all the details. “It was really fun, it was really nice to get to see my parents again. It had been so long since I had seen everybody” she told me. I could hear her smiling through the phone.

“Did you meet any dazzling women at the wedding?” I asked her, praying that the answer was no. “No, I’ve got my heart set on another girl” she said, she was still smiling. My heart dropped, of course she liked somebody. I was so naive to think that she didn’t.

Wait. What if she liked me? I could be that girl. That would change everything. Nope. It was too good to be true.

I panicked, I didn’t have the slightest clue of what to say. I quickly hung up and threw my phone onto my bed.

Why do I keep running from the truth?

Pippa had gotten back home last night. She asked me why I hung up. I told her that my phone just cut out, she seemed to believe it.

She was out getting some groceries right now. I had invited Jasmine over. I desperately needed some advice.

“Jas, I need your help. I don’t know what to do? What if that girl is me?” I asked her, freaking out. “Would that be so bad? You’re head over heels for her” Jasmine told me. “I am not” I said, becoming defensive.

“Do you know how many times you text me a day to tell me about a cute thing she did? A lot. When we hang out, half the time you’re just talking about something you did with her. And what about when I try and have a conversation with you when she’s around? You’re a brick wall, all you can do is give her googly eyes” Jasmine told me.

I was laying in bed and I couldn’t get what Jasmine said out of my mind. Maybe I was head over heels for Pippa. I did feel ten times happier when she was around. And all of my best memories include her.

Then it hit me.

I was absolutely in love with my best friend, and I had no clue how she felt. There was a chance she liked me, but a bigger chance she would laugh in my face if I confessed my feelings.

I wondered if she had ever lied in bed and thought about me, the way I was thinking about her right now.

Little did I know, she was right next door, thinking about how much she adored me. She was worried about if I liked her back.

I wondered if this was just a passing crush, or if this could actually turn into something real. What if Pippa was my soulmate? But what if I confessed and she never talked to me again?

Whether Pippa liked me back or not, I knew that I would definitely be hung up on her for a while.

“Pippa, I need to talk to you” I told Pippa, walking into her room. She was sitting on her bed, scrolling through her phone. “Okay” she said, placing her phone down on the bedside table.

“Do you ever think about us?” I asked her. I was so unsure as to how to start this conversation. Was it better to ask her outright if she liked me? Or should I try and lead up to it?

“You’re gonna have to be a little more specific. I mean, I think about us a bunch, you’re my best friend” she told me, honestly. “Well that’s what I mean, we spend like every waking second of our lives together” I told her.

“Are you saying you want to spend less time together?” She asked me. Her voice was laced with hurt. “No no no, god why is this so hard for me?” I said, muttering the last part under my breath.

“The other day you said you liked someone, right?” I asked her. “Yeah I did say that, why?” She asked, still looking confused.

I wished that I could just come out and ask her, but this was one of the hardest conversations I’d ever had.

“Was it me?” I asked her, finally snapping. “Oh...well uh” she said, hesitantly.

I knew it.

She totally had feelings for someone else and now I had made her feel uncomfortable. I never should of brought this up, I had just single-handedly ruined our friendship.

“Oh, okay. That’s okay, I completely understand. I just, I have a really big crush on you and I was hoping that maybe you liked me back. I’ve been thinking for a while that maybe we could work out and be meant to be. But, really it’s fine. I’m sorry I brought it up” I said, turning to leave the room.

“Y/N, wait. Stop rambling for one second” she told me. “Listen, you don’t have to apologize for how you feel. I get it” I told her, trying to leave again.

“You didn’t let me finish, you are the one I like” she said, simply. I stopped, dead in my tracks and turned around to face her. We both had the biggest smiles on our faces.

“What do you mean she likes me?” I asked Lin, clarifying. “I mean I was talking to Jasmine and she told me she likes me” Lin said, for the fourth time. “And you're sure she wasn’t talking about a different Y/N?” I asked him. I was still doubting that this was even true.

“You’re the only Y/N she knows” he told me. “Well what am I supposed to do? Do I ask her out and tell her that you told me?” I asked him. “No no no, you can’t tell her I told you. She’ll get so upset” Lin said. “Well what am I supposed to do, pretend I don’t know?” I asked him.

“Well maybe you should just ask her? Not directly, but maybe drop hints. Or ask if she likes anyone?” Lin suggested. “Yeah, that could work. Thank you for telling me. I have to get going, we’re supposed to hang out at her apartment” I told him, grabbing my stuff as I got up to leave.

“Okay, bye. Tell me if she ends up confessing” Lin told me, as he walked me to the door of his apartment. “I will, bye” I said, as I left. I heard him close the door behind me and I walked over the few blocks that it was to Jasmine's apartment.

Lin had called me and told me to come over immediately. Then, I went over there and found out that the prettiest girl I knew had a crush on me. I was pretty shocked by the whole thing.

I got to Jasmine’s apartment and knocked on the door. Within seconds, the door opened and I saw Jasmine standing there, as beautiful as ever. “Hey, I’m so glad you could make it. Come in come in” she said, gesturing for me to come inside.

“So how are you?” I asked her, as she closed the door. “I’m really good, how are you?” She asked me, as she pulled me in for a quick hug. “I’m pretty good, I’ve been looking forward to tonight” I told her, honestly. “Aww that’s good, I have been too” she said, smiling. “Well you promised to make dinner, so I was super excited” I said, giggling.

“Oh yeah, speaking of dinner, it’s done and in the kitchen if you want to see it” she said, leading me into the kitchen. Every time she said or did something, it only made me realize that she clearly liked me. It felt wrong to not tell her that I knew, it felt like I was hiding something from her. And we never kept secrets from each other.

We walked into the kitchen and I saw spaghetti along with various vegetables. “Wow this looks so good” I said, my mouth starting to water. “Well I know you love pasta” she said, smiling.

She made two plates and then we walked to go sit down at the table and eat. I decided now would be a good time to try and see if I could get her to confess.

“So how did your date go the other day?” I asked her, knowing that she didn't mention any kind of date. “What do you mean? I didn’t go on a date the other day” she said, giggling. “Oh whoops, it must have been someone else. But you had to have gone on a date recently, right? I mean, are you still single?” I asked her, trying to get her to admit that she liked me.

“No, I haven’t been on a date in a while. I do have the slightest crush on somebody though” she said, and a twinkle appeared in her eyes. I thought that she was totally about to tell me. “Really? Who’s the lucky lady?” I asked, pretending to be intrigued.

Then, I saw fear in Jasmine’s eyes. “Oh, no one you would know” she said, simply. It was like her mood had changed completely. I dropped the subject, thinking maybe if I didn’t push her then she’d tell me.

We finished eating dinner and decided to watch a movie. I picked some cheesy high school movie, where a girl is majorly crushing on some guy.

“Those were the days” I whispered, about ten minutes into the movie. “What do you mean? You miss high school?” Jasmine asked, looking over at me. “Well not exactly, I miss when you liked someone in high school. The jitters you would get whenever they were in the same room as you. The way that everything they did just seemed perfect” I said, looking over at Jasmine, and staring into her eyes. Once again, she looked like she wanted to say something, but ultimately decided against it.

“I’ll be right back” I huffed, as I walked away and into the kitchen. I took a few deep breaths and tried to calm down. I wasn’t mad at her, I just felt frustrated. I had given her a few opportunities to tell me and something was still stopping her. I would never fault her for feeling nervous and not wanting to tell me, I just didn’t know how to get her to realize that I liked her too.

I walked back in the room. “Hey are you okay?” Jasmine asked, concerned. I started to pace around in front of the television. “I need to tell you something” I said, sternly. I stopped pacing and turned towards Jasmine.

“Uh....okay?” She said, clearly confused. “I like you Jasmine, and I have a feeling that you like me too. I keep trying to give you hints or make you realize, but none of it is working. So I’m done with beating around the bush, I’m telling you straight up. I really really like you Jasmine” I confessed, all of it just spilling out of me.

I felt weightless. All of that pressure and secrecy was finally lifted off my shoulders, and I no longer felt that burden.

“You’re completely right, I like you too. I just could never work up the nerve to tell you” she said, seeming just as relieved as I was. “I’m glad that we finally confessed that” I said, giggling and pulling her into a hug.

Summary: Daveed and Y/N have broken up, but Daveed comes over to comfort Y/N when there is a bad thunderstorm

I heard the thunder boom and echo off the walls. I flinched and held onto my blanket even tighter. I had the worst phobia of thunderstorms. They absolutely terrified me.

Up until about three months ago, I had been dating Daveed. He knew how much I hated thunderstorms and was always there to comfort me. Unfortunately, we had broken up and I hadn’t seen him since then.

This was the first big thunderstorm since we had broken up. Therefore, it was the first time I had to deal with a thunderstorm on my own.

I was currently laying in my bed, buried in my blanket. I was trying to ignore the terrifying conditions outside, but every time lightning struck, I found myself absolutely petrified.

I had tried everything: headphones, ear plugs, even a pillow covering my ears. Nothing seemed to work. The thunder just kept constantly booming.

I had picked up my phone about fifty times to FaceTime Daveed. I knew he would be exactly the comfort I needed, but I could never bring myself to press the call button.

So, here I was, panicked and alone in my bedroom as the storm raged on outside.

I vaguely heard a knock at the door. I wasn’t even sure if I had actually heard a knock. “Maybe it was just thunder” I thought to myself. Then, I heard it again. This time I was sure that it was a knock at the door.

I threw on a sweatshirt and walked to answer the door. I opened the door just as lightning cracked and I jumped. Then, I saw a sight even more shocking.

Daveed was standing in front of my door. He was completely drenched from head to toe. I could see the water dripping from his hair on to his face.

“Da...daveed. What are you doing here?” I asked, shocked that he was even here. “Can I come in, it’s pouring out here?” He asked me. I thought about it for a second and realized that nothing could go wrong.

So, I backed up and opened the door for Daveed to walk in. Thunder cracked above the house, I jumped again. Daveed definitely noticed.

“So why are you here?” I asked him, again. “Well it’s pouring outside, I know we broke up and we might not be on good terms, but I also know you hate thunderstorms. I couldn’t get the image of you afraid out of my head. I knew that I would be able to help you calm down, and you deserve that” Daveed explained. I was speechless, this was actually such a sweet gesture.

I felt a small smile, creep up on my face. “That’s really really sweet” I told him. “Are you okay with that? If not, I’ll leave right now” he told me. “No, stay please” I said, smiling at him. He smiled back at me.

“Oh, you’re clothes are all wet. You can put them in the dryer if you want” I offered. “I just have this sweatshirt and jeans on” he explained, awkwardly. “I have a pair of your sweatpants that you left here” I told him. “Okay great” he said, smiling.

I grabbed the pants from my room and followed Daveed to the laundry room. He pulled the sweatshirt off of his head, I tried to not stare at his bare chest, but I couldn’t resist. Then he quickly got out of his jeans and put on the sweatpants that I handed him.

He finished getting changed and turned to face me completely. I got lost in his eyes for a minute, I saw all those qualities that I had fallen in love with. Then the thunder clapped again. I felt myself flinch.

“Hey come here” Daveed said, softly. He held his arms out and wrapped them around my waist and held me tight. I put my arms around his neck and held on tightly to him.

I could feel the heat rush to my cheeks as I realized he didn’t have a shirt on. He still smelled like his cologne. His embrace was comforting and felt like home.

He moved his hands to the back of my thighs. I knew that my was cue to jump and wrap my legs around his waist. He positioned me so that he could hold me comfortably. I nestled my face into the crook of his neck.

He started to walk to my bedroom, the path was probably engrained in his brain. I twirled his hair with my fingers as he walked to my room. He walked over next to my bed and carefully placed me under the covers. And then I saw him walk around to the other side of the bed and get into the covers.

“You’re still okay with this, right?” He asked me. I just nodded and held out my arms in front of me. He took that as an open invitation and pulled me closer to him.

We both had one of our arms propped under our heads as we laid on our sides, facing each other. Daveed had his hand resting on my waist.

“It’s really good to see you” Daveed said, softly. “Yeah, I’ve really missed you” I told him, honestly.

It was so strange to be hanging out with Daveed again. He was someone who knew every inch of my body and all of my deepest fears, and all of a sudden we had stopped talking to each other. Being reunited just felt right.

“So are you seeing anyone?” Daveed asked me, as he brushed a piece of my hair behind my ear. “No, I’m not. What about you?” I asked, simply. I was praying that he was single too, and maybe we would have a shot at a second chance.

“No, I’m still in love with my ex-girlfriend” he said, simply. I couldn’t actually believe what I was hearing. “Was this conversation actually going the way I hoped it would” I wondered to myself.

Before I knew it, he had cupped my cheek and was slowly leaning in to kiss me.

Everything else faded away. I was no longer concerned about the powerful storm outside or the pit of nerves in my stomach.

Then, our lips touched and it was pure bliss. It felt so sweet and soft and delicate, but I could tell that we both had desperately missed each other. However, we were brought back together by this kiss. It was as if all of our time apart no longer mattered, because we found our way back to each other. It felt perfect. It felt meant to be.

“Hey Jas, I’m home. I got the ingredients for dinner too” I said, calling out to my roommate. I didn’t hear her respond. “Jas? Are you here?” I asked again. I walked into her bedroom and I saw her sitting on the floor with her head in her hands.

I stopped for a second and I realized that she was crying. “Hey, what’s going on?” I asked, in a much softer tone. I walked over to her and kneeled down next to her.

I moved her hands away from her face and saw her tear stained face and I noticed she was having a hard time breathing. I noticed it as the tell-tale signs of a panic attack.

“Shhh shhh it’s okay” I said, holding her hands and looking into her eyes. “All the things they said” she said, in between breaths. I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. I just knew that I had to be here for her right now.

“Hey it’s okay, I promise. Can you take a deep breath for me?” I asked her, calmly. She tried to take a breath, but couldn’t because she was crying. “Hey I’m here. It’s okay. Just watch me and take a deep breath” I told her.

She made eye contact with me and she mimicked my deep breath. “Just like that, good job” I said, still trying to calm her down. I had been in that position before and I knew how helpless you felt.

“So dizzy” Jasmine said, barely above a whisper. “Just focus on me and keep breathing” I said, as I cupped her face and looked into her eyes. Slowly, she started to mimic my breaths and her breathing returned to normal.

“Do you feel better?” I asked her, concerned. “Yeah, I need some water or something. I feel exhausted” she told me. “Stay right here, I’ll get you some water” I said, as I kissed the top of her head and walked to the kitchen. I grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge. I walked back into the room and Jasmine seemed a lot calmer.

“Here you go” I said, handing her the water and sitting back down next to her. “Are you sure you’re okay? I hate seeing you in pain” I told her, honestly. “Yeah, I was just on Twitter” she said, simply.

I didn’t understand how Twitter had caused this. “Did you see something on Twitter or?” I asked, trying to fill in the gaps. “There was a bunch of people tweeting about how it looked like I had gained weight and I just kind of spiraled” she explained, looking ashamed. “Are you kidding Jas? You look amazing, I don’t know what they’re talking about. Don’t take any of that to heart, they’re all stupid” I told her.

I gave her a small smile. “I know, I just really really like you and I got so worried that I had gained weight. And I thought if I had gained weight, that you wouldn’t like me back. And that you’d be disgusted by me and all this stuff” she said, looking down at her hands.

“I would never be disgusted by you” I said, grabbing one of her hands with mine. “But you don’t feel the same? It’s okay, you don’t have to sugarcoat it, I understand” she said, standing up to leave

“No Jas, you don’t get it. I feel exactly the same way. I mean you’re beautiful and you’re funny, and you always know how to make me smile” I told her. Her eyes lit up completely. She looked so relieved, as compared to how she previously looked.

“Oh I can’t believe this” she said, pulling me into a tight hug. Her perfume smelled like roses and I felt so happy. I couldn’t believe that Jasmine actually liked me back.

“I am so lucky” I heard her whisper in my ear. I smiled to myself at how cute she was. “Not as lucky as I am” I countered, giggling.

She pulled out of the hug and she had the biggest smile on her face. “Do you know how cute you look right now?” I asked her, smiling right back at her. “No, but I would be open to you reminding me” she said, sweetly. “You look so cute and adorable. I want this smile to always be on your face” I told her, and leaned in and kissed her cheek.

“I don’t want you to listen to any of that stuff about you gaining weight. It’s absolutely ridiculous, okay?” I asked her. “Yes, I promise” she said, interlacing our fingers. “Do you want to go watch a movie or something?” She asked me. “I would love to” I said, grabbing her hand and walking out to the living room.

Daveed and I were about to be on the Ellen DeGeneres show to promote a new movie that we both starred in.

Over the course of filming, Daveed and I become really close. He was a really good friend, and that was important when you were working long days together.

“Yeah, I’m good. Just a little nervous. This is my first time on a talk show” I told him. “You are going to kill it and I’ll be right there with you” he said, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze.

Then, I heard Ellen announce “Please welcome Y/N and Daveed”. The audience started to cheer and applaud. Daveed gave me a smile, before we walked out.

We walked around the corner and waved at the audience as we walked to the couch. We got to the couch and Daveed motioned for me to go in front of him.

I walked in front of him and gave Ellen a hug. Then I stepped back and she gave Daveed a hug. Then, we all sat down.

“Hi Y/N, Daveed, how are you guys?” She asked. “We’re doing good, thank you for having us” Daveed said, knowing I was a little nervous. “Yes of course. So, you both are in a new movie called See You at Lucy’s. What is it about?” Ellen asked.

“Well I play a woman named Lucy who owns her own diner. She lives in a small town and she meets this rich business man, who happens to be passing through the town. His name is Eric, and he is played by the wonderful Daveed Diggs. And they both meet and they fall in love” I explained. “Oh that’s really sweet. So what was it like working together on this movie?” Ellen asked.

“Y/N was an absolute wonder to work with. If you haven’t seen any of her work, you need to go watch it right now. She is seriously one of the most talented actresses I know” Daveed complimented. The audience awed and I looked over at Daveed and smiled at him.

“He’s being too kind, not only is Daveed such a good actor. He’s just a really good person, we worked really early mornings and late nights on this movie. There is no one I would rather have around. Anytime that I was getting tired or frustrated, he was always there to make me laugh. He was seriously the best partner I could ask for” I elaborated. Daveed put his arm around my shoulders and pulled me in for a short side hug.

“Alright, so now on to the more juicy questions. The people want to know, are you dating?” Ellen asked. I froze up, I wasn’t prepared for this kind of question. I totally had a crush on Daveed, I could feel my cheeks heat up. I hoped Ellen wouldn’t notice my panicked expression though.

“What people Ellen?” Daveed asked, skillfully dodging the question. “Everybody, now stop avoiding the question” she replied and the whole audience cheered.

“We are not dating” Daveed answered, simply. It was the truth. “What about you Y/N? Do you agree?” She asked me, hoping that I would slip up.

“No, Daveed’s right. We are definitely not dating. Why do you all want us to be dating?” I asked the audience, giggling to myself. “Well maybe because of this photoshoot” Ellen said, and then a photo came up on the screen. We both turned around to look at it and we both froze in our seats.

A few months ago, Daveed and I had to do this photoshoot as promo for the movie. One of the scenes in the movie, was us hanging out at Daveed’s characters pool. So we had to take some photos in the pool, that they were going to use for some of the movie posters.

We had just taken a bunch of funny and goofy photos. We had one where I was sitting on Daveed’s shoulders in the pool. There a few of us both jumping into the pool. “Alright, we need a romantic one now” our director had told us.

“What do you want us to do?” I asked our director. “How about you both hold each other and pretend like you’re leaning in to kiss?” Our director suggested. We both gave the director a thumbs up.

“Alright come here love” Daveed jokingly said, opening his arms to me. He wrapped his arms around my waist, while we were standing in the pool. I placed by hands on his shoulders. We both leaned in slightly.

It wasn’t hard to pretend like I was in love with him, I had had a crush on Daveed since we met at the auditions.

“This looks awkward, how about you actually kiss and we’ll take the photos as you’re leaning in. It’ll look more realistic” our director told us. We both nodded and I took a deep breath. “It’s okay, it’s just me” Daveed said, making me giggle.

We both leaned in and slowly connected our lips. We hadn’t done any of our kiss scenes for the movie, so this was our first kiss. It felt magical, I tried to ignore the fact that there was a whole camera crew watching.

Daveed cupped my face and kissed me. I could feel him smile as we kissed.

Then we pulled away and we both had cheesy grins on our faces. I was about to say something to him, when our director yelled out “Okay, we got the shot. You guys can go dry off”.

I was majorly disappointed, I was hoping to get to kiss him again. I figured we would talk about it, but we never did.

Now, looking at the photo that Ellen had, clearly our director had decided to take a photo while we were kissing, as opposed to as we leaned in.

“Care to explain?” Ellen asked us. “That was a shot for the movie posters” Daveed said, trying to act nonchalant. “Really? You seem to be enjoying yourself, you have a big ole smile on your face in this picture” Ellen said, smirking.

“It’s because we’re professional actors” I lied and the audience started laughing. “Keep telling yourselves that. So what was each of your favorite moments from shooting this movie?” Ellen asked us. I was so glad that she changed the subject.

“My favorite was definitely Y/N’s birthday. She didn’t want anyone to know that it was her birthday, but we all found out anyway. And we all decided to prank her. So I was acting out a scene with her and I went completely off of the script. She was so confused and we had our director in on the prank. Y/N was trying to go along with it, and it was hilarious” Daveed said, chuckling to himself.

“That was so embarrassing. My favorite wasn't from the actual shooting of the movie. But Daveed and I started this tradition where every Friday night, after filming, we’d go to Daveed’s trailer and watch a movie” I said. “Oh yeah, watch a movie” Ellen said, doing air quotes when she said “watch a movie”.

The audience started to laugh again. “No” I said, embarrassed. “To be fair, we did actually watch movies” Daveed clarified. “I don’t believe you. Look at her face, she can’t even keep a straight face” Ellen said.

I felt so embarrassed. I buried my face in Daveed’s chest and he put his arm around my shoulders. I could feel his body shake as he laughed. “She’s got something to hide” Ellen said.

“No I don’t, I swear” I said, pleading with the audience to believe me. “We’ll see if the people believe you. Thank you guys for being on the show today. We’ll be right back with our next guest” Ellen said, doing an intro to the commercial break. The crew started to fix everything so it was ready for the next guest.

Daveed and I both stood up and gave Ellen hugs again. “You guys can tell me, are you guys actually dating?” She asked, now that our microphones weren’t on. “No, we’re not. Sorry to disappoint” Daveed said, laughing. “Well thanks for coming, I’ll see you guys soon” Ellen told us. We both said goodbye and walked backstage.

We got back to our dressing room and sat down on the couch. “Hey can we talk about something?” I asked Daveed, nervously. “Yeah of course, what’s wrong? You seem nervous” he said, placing a hand on my thigh to calm me down. “The kiss” I said, simply.

“Are you worried about the picture? I know we thought it was supposed to just be us leaning in, but I think it works good for the poster” he explained. “No, I mean I agree. It’s just...that’s not what I wanted to talk about” I said. “Well what do you want to talk about?” He asked me.

“We kissed” I said, not knowing how to put it into words. “Yes we did, I remember” he said, chuckling. “We never talked about it” I said, uncomfortably. “Well we’re talking about it now, so what do you want to discuss?” He asked.

Daveed was such a good guy and he always knew how to make me feel comfortable.

“Daveed, I like you. I don’t how else to tell you. But we kissed and I was about to tell you, that day in the pool and then the director said we were done. And we never even got to talk about it. I thought the kiss was pretty special, but I feel like you didn’t have that same reaction. And once we’re done with promo, I still want to hang out. I don’t want to just never talk again, after this movie is out. You’re an amazing person and I don’t want to lose you” I told him.

“It was special” Daveed said, sincerely. He cupped my face and leaned it and connected our lips. It was slow and sweet. He tasted like spearmint. We pulled away and Daveed interlaced our fingers. “I promise that you will never lose me” he said, sweetly.

“Wait, so you like me too?” I asked, still in shock. “I thought the kiss gave that away, but yes Y/N, I am head over heels for you” he said, smiling.

I looked over at the clock and saw that it was 4pm. I realized that I should probably start getting ready for my date. Lin and I had been dating for about four months and we had a date tonight.

I got up from my couch and walked into my room to find an outfit to wear. I was standing, looking at all my clothes, when I heard my phone start ringing.

I didn’t know who would be calling me, so I walked over to my phone. I saw an unknown number. I wasn’t expecting a call, but I picked it up.

“Hello?” I answered the phone. “Hello is this Y/N?” The woman on the other end asked. I sighed to myself, it was probably another one of those fake phone calls, where they tried to get your credit card information.

“Yes it is” I replied, simply. “This is the New York General Hospital, your mother was just admitted to the hospital. She had a bad fall, and she’s currently in surgery” the woman told me.

I could feel my heart drop. I could feel my whole body fill up with panic. I had a million questions racing through my mind. I had a pit in my stomach and I couldn’t get rid of it. I didn’t even notice that I hadn’t responded.

“Ma’am, are you still there?” The woman asked. “Yes, I’m sorry. I will be right there” I said, hanging up the phone and grabbing my keys. I raced to the hospital, faster than I’d ever gone anywhere before.

The whole ride there, the only thing I could think of was my poor mother, laying on the floor, hurt. I couldn’t bare to think about how scared she must have been, waiting for the ambulance.

I pulled into the hospital parking lot and raced inside. I ran up to the front desk. “Hi, my name is Y/N. You called me because my mother had a fall. You said she was in surgery” I told the woman at the front desk.

“Ahh yes, your mother is in room 742. It’s the first door on the right, down that hallway. She might not be awake from surgery yet” she told me. “Okay thank you” I said, and walked to the room as quickly as my legs would carry me.

I walked in and saw my mother, still asleep. It broke my heart into a million pieces. She looked so fragile, and she had so many wires attached to her.

I could feel the tears start to well up in my eyes. Then, I felt my phone start buzzing. I saw that Lin was calling me. I stepped into the hallway and answered it, I needed a distraction.

“Hey Y/N? Where are you? Is everything okay? You were supposed to be here 30 minutes ago, I’ve been texting you” he told me. “Hi Lin, everything’s fine. I’m at the hospital” I told him. “Wait, the hospital? Are you hurt?” He asked me, his voice laced with concern.

“No, it’s just my mom. She had a fall. I have to be here with her, I can’t come tonight” I told him. “No, I get it. You have to be with your mom. What hospital are you at?” He asked me. “New York General” I told him, not even thinking about it. “Okay, well I’ll let you get back” he told me. We both said goodbye and I hung up.

I glanced back in the room and saw that my mother was still asleep. I decided to call my siblings and let them know what happened. I was the only one in New York, so there’s no they could come.

I finished making my calls and I walked back into the hospital room. I sat down in the chair next to my mom’s bed. I looked down at my hands, I couldn't do anything, but think of the worst case scenario.

I could feel the tears start streaming down my face. I grabbed a tissue and started to wipe them away. Then, I looked up and saw Lin standing in the doorway.

I stood up and ran over to him. He pulled me right into his arms. He felt warm and his embrace was comforting. He rocked me back and forth as I quietly cried in his arms. “Shhh shhh everything will be okay” he whispered to me.

“She must be in so much pain, I just want to take all of it. I would take away all her pain, if it just meant she would be better” I told him, trying to stop crying. “Well you can’t do that. But what you can do is love her and be here for her. And I know that she knows how much you love her” he told me, kissing my temple.

“I just feel so useless, she’s just laying there and I can’t do anything to help her get better” I confessed. “Do you need me to do anything?” He asked me. “Can you stay here? I need to go find a nurse and see how my mom’s surgery went. Can you come find me if she wakes up?” I asked him. “Of course” he said, giving my hand a a reassuring squeeze, before I walked away.

I walked down the hallway and back for the front desk. “Hi, I was just wondering if you knew how my mom's surgery went?” I asked her. “One second, let me check the file” the woman said. She looked through a folder and looked back up at me. “Her surgery went well. She had a large cut on her leg and they stitched it up. She has a prescription for the pain, but she should be able to leave tomorrow” the woman told me. “Okay thank you so much, you’ve been really helpful” I thanked her.

I walked back to my mom’s room and saw Lin walking toward me. “What’s wrong?” I asked panicking. “Nothing’s wrong, she just woke up. The nurse said she might be a little groggy” he told me. I could feel my whole demeanor change. I felt so relieved that I could finally talk to her and see what she needed.

I walked in and her eyes lit up when she saw me. I sat down next to her and we talked. She said she didn’t anything. Then the nurse gave her some medicine to help her sleep. The nurse said it would help her heal faster.

I grabbed a magazine off her bedside table and started to read it. Lin peaked his head in and saw that she was asleep. He quietly walked over next to me and sat in the other chair.

He set his hand on my thigh, and he started to draw little shapes absentmindedly. I leaned my head on his shoulder and he put his arm around my shoulders. I continued to read the magazine, mostly as a way to focus on something else.

I started to feel a little tired, but I knew I had to stay up, in case anything happened. “Are you tired? You could go take a nap in my car if you want, I’ll stay” Lin suggested. “No, I need to stay awake. Let’s go get some coffee” I said, standing up. “Okay” he said nodding.

He interlaced our fingers and we walked to the cafeteria. It was taking all of my will power to not burst into tears.

I didn’t say a word to Lin, the whole way to the cafeteria. I had too much on my mind. “So how are you holding up?” He asked me, as I poured the coffee into my cup. “Honestly, I don’t know. I feel like I’m going to fall apart every time I look at her. And I know she got lucky and it could of been much worse, but it’s mind-numbingly terrifying” I told him, honestly. “Listen, you would be crazy if you felt fine. But I’m here for you and I will do anything you need. And I’m also here to tell you that everything will be okay” he told me, putting his arm around my waist and kissing my cheek.

“Did you know that Hawaii is the only state in the US that grows coffee” Lin said, trying to distract me. “I know what you’re doing” I told him, and looking up at him. He had a dumb smile on his face.

“Thank you, for trying to distract me” I said, as we started to walk back to her room. “You don’t have to thank me. I’ll always be here for you” he assured me.

We got back to the room and sat back down. Lin draped his jacket across his lap and used it as a blanket. He slowly started to doze off. I picked the magazine back up and started to read it.

Before I knew it, I was yawning and I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I stood up and started pacing around the room, trying to stay awake.

Then, Lin stirred in his seat. “What time is it?” He asked me. I checked my watch. “Almost three in the morning” I answered. “Have you slept yet?” He asked me, concerned. “No, I’m fine. I have to stay awake” I told him. “I’ll stay awake for you, if that’ll make you feel better” Lin suggested.

“Okay fine, I’ll sleep for a little bit. But you have to wake me up if anything happens” I told him. “I promise, now come get some sleep” Lin told me. I walked over to my seat and laid my head down in his lap. I was finally able to relax. He stroked my hair, until I feel asleep.

“Come on babe. Are you done with the sunscreen yet? It’ll be dark out before you’re done” Anthony asked me. “Just hold on a second” I told him, rubbing in the rest of my sunscreen. “But look at how nice the water looks, let’s go swim” Anthony said, trying to persuade me to ditch the sunscreen and join him in the water. “Okay, I’m done now. Are you happy?” I asked him, giggling to myself.

Anthony and I had rented a beach house for a weekend because it was our 5-year anniversary.

Anthony didn’t reply, he swooped me up bridal style and ran into the water with me. The water splashed up on us as he took heavy steps into the water.

“See isn’t this nice? Beautiful water with my beautiful girl” Anthony told me, once we had gotten to a point where the water was at our shoulders. “I was just protecting my skin, so when we're old and married, I will still look this gorgeous” I told him. I wrapped my arms around Anthony’s neck and wrapped my legs around his waist, and held on to him.

“You always look gorgeous” he said, kissing my temple. “I think this is going to be a really nice trip” I told Anthony, nestling my head into his neck.

We floated there for a few minutes, enjoying the peacefulness of the ocean. Then I felt Anthony jump and flinch. “What was that?” He asked, sounding panicked. “What was what?” I asked him, confused.

“I think I felt a snake touch my leg, get out of the water” he said, quickly. I was obviously alarmed by what he had said. I jumped out of his arms and ran back onto the beach, pulling him behind me. I felt like my heart was beating a million miles a minute.

I felt my feet hit the sand, and I fell down onto the blanket that I had laid on the sand. I sat there and breathed for a second or two. Then, Anthony sat down next to me, hysterically laughing. He was laughing so hard that it looked like he wasn’t even breathing.

“What’s so funny?” I asked him, really confused. “There was no snake darling, I was just messing with you” he explained, in between fits of laughter. I gave him a glare. “Are you kidding?” I said, lightly pushing his chest away from me. “Oh you can’t be mad at me sweetheart” he said, placing his chin on my shoulder and pouting.

“I thought we were actually in danger. You gave me a heart attack” I said, rolling my eyes. “You love me and you know it” he said. “Nope, not right now” I said, playing hard to get.

Anthony cupped my face and started giving my whole face sloppy kisses. “Anthony...stop” I said, giggling. “Not until you admit that you love me” he said, continuing to kiss my face and tickle my sides. “Alright alright, I love you. Now stop tickling me please” I begged.

“Are you begging for mercy?” Anthony asked me, not letting up yet. “Yes yes, whatever you say” I said, squirming under his touch. Finally, he pulled away from me and took his place sitting next to me again.

“So do you want to go back in the water?” Anthony asked me. “No, I think I want to read that book that I brought with me. Can you go inside and get it for me?” I asked him. “Of course, I’ll be right back” he said, kissing my cheek and getting up.

I stood up and grabbed the beach blanket and brought it over to the lounger chairs that we had on the beach. I sat down on it and wrapped the blanket around my shoulders. The breeze on the coast was kind of chilly. A few minutes later, Anthony returned with my book in hand.

“Here you go love” he said, handing me my book. “Thank you” I said, smiling as I grabbed it from him. Anthony sat next to me on the lounger chair.

He snuggled into my side. “You need something?” I asked him, giggling. “No, I’m just comfortable” he said, closing his eyes. I smiled to myself, sometimes Anthony was the biggest dork I knew.

I opened my book to the bookmarked page and started reading my book. After reading a few pages, I looked down and saw that Anthony had fallen asleep on my shoulder. I giggled to myself and continued to read my book.

After about thirty minutes of reading, I put my bookmark in my book. Anthony was still asleep, so I tried to readjust how I was sitting, so that I could nap with him.

As soon as I moved, Anthony jumped awake. “What’s wrong?” He asked me. “Nothing, I’m just trying to cuddle with you” I told him. “Oh, it looks like rain. Let’s go cuddle inside, we’ll get you warmed up” Anthony told me. We both stood up and walked up to the house, hand in hand.

Anthony went straight for our bedroom, he was really tired from the drive to the beach house. I changed out of my bathing suit, into a hoodie and some leggings. Then, I walked to our bedroom and found Anthony already asleep in bed, curled up in the blanket.

I smiled to myself at how cute he looked. I sneakily took a photo, that I would for-sure use as blackmail material when he wouldn’t do the dishes.

I got under the covers and curled up into his side. His arm instinctively wrapped around my waist and held me tight. “Hi” he mumbled, without opening his eyes. “Hi love, get some sleep” I told him, getting comfortable and closing my eyes.

“If you want to go swim instead of nap, we can go swim” he told me. “No, I’m good right here. And besides, I heard there’s snakes in the ocean” I joked. I felt his entire chest shake as he laughed. Then, we both slowly fell asleep.

“Jonathon, over here” I called out. Jonathon was my best friend and we had arranged to meet up at the park today. He heard my voice and looked over in my direction.

His eyes lit up when he saw me. He ran over towards me. When he got to me, he picked me up and spun me me in a circle. “Y/N, how is my best friend?” He asked me. “I’m doing good, now put me down. You’re gonna drop me” I whined.

“I’m offended, I would never drop you” he said, pretending to scoff. “Oh shush, you big dork” I said, rolling my eyes.

“So what first?” Jonathon asked me. “Well I saw an ice cream cart, when I got here” I suggested. “Ooooo I love ice cream, let’s go” Jonathon said, grabbed my hand.

“You’re walking too slow, come on. I need ice cream” I said, pulling him behind me. “How are you so fast?” Jonathon asked me, giggling. “Because I’m hungry, now hush and keep up” I said.

We walked up to the ice cream cart and we both ordered our ice cream.

“I don’t know how you can think that chocolate is the best flavor, mint chocolate chip is by far superior” I told Jonathon. “You’re crazy, mint is glorified toothpaste. You may be my best friend, but your choice in ice cream is sub par” Jonathon told me.

“Let me try yours, maybe I’ll change my mind” I told Jonathon, smirking. He handed me his cone of ice cream. I pretended like I was going to try his ice cream. Then, I smeared some of his ice cream on his nose.

His jaw dropped. “You are a cruel cruel woman” he said, wiping the ice cream off his nose. “That’s what you get for bashing my mint chocolate chip” I said, giggling.

“Alright, let’s finish our ice cream. And you are going to stay far far away from my ice cream” Jonathon warned, as we sat down on a park bench.

We finished our ice cream and then started to walk around the park. “Ooo look, there are some swings” Jonathon said, excitedly. “Way over there? That’s so far away” I complained.

“Get on my back” Jonathon suggested. “Come on Jonathon, we're not kids” I protested. “Who’s gonna stop us?” He asked me. “Well, I guess” I said, giving up.

Jonathon squatted down. “Are you ready?” I asked him. “Yep, jump on” Jonathon said. I held onto his shoulders and then hopped onto his back. Jonathon swayed a little.

“I swear, if you drop me” I warned him. “You have no faith in me” he said, as he started jogging to the playground that he had seen.

“Alright now how are you going to get down?” Jonathon asked me. “Just squat down, and don’t let me fall” I told him. He bent down and I carefully slid off of his back. “And she sticks the landing” Jonathon said, laughing.

“Come on, let’s go see these swings that you were so excited about” I said, as I walked over to the swings. We both sat down on the swings. I pulled myself back and started swinging.

“Wait, how are you going so high?” Jonathon asked me. “What do you mean? You just move your legs” I explained to him. “I can’t do it. Mommmm I need help” he said, pretending to whine like a kid.

“Okay fine” I said, stopping my swing. I walked behind Jonathon and pushed him back and forth. Finally, he was swinging pretty high.

I walked around to the front so that I was facing him. I took out my phone and started to record a quick video. I had planned to put it on an Instagram story with the caption: “Teaching Jonathon how to swing”

I was filming this little video, when I got too close to Jonathon and he fully kicked me when he swung forward. It was a kick right to the stomach. I got knocked straight back on my back. “Ow” I winced, as I laid on the ground.

“Wait, are you okay? I’m so sorry” Jonathon asked, quickly trying to stop his swing. I leaned up on my arms and got up to a sitting position. Jonathon stopped his swing and ran over to me.

“Are you okay?” He asked me, kneeling next to me. “Yeah I’m fine, I feel like I just got drop kicked in the stomach though” I said, giggling. “Well let me tell you, that little fall wasn’t what you would call graceful” Jonathon said, teasing me. “Well, if you hadn’t kicked out my guts, we wouldn’t be having this issue right now” I remarked, laughing.

“Okay fair enough” Jonathon said, giving me a hand and helping me stand up. “So we’ve got ice cream, ridden the swings, and tried kickboxing. What else is there to do?” I asked Jonathon. “Well for your safety, I think we should call it a day. Or we could go back to your apartment and get some takeout and watch a movie” Jonathon suggested.

“Takeout sounds like a great idea. So I’ll meet you at my place?” I asked. “Yeah, I’ll walk you to your car though. If you were to get mugged, you wouldn’t be able to fight them off since you’re injured” Jonathon said, still teasing me.

“You don’t think I could take some muggers?” I asked, as we started walking towards my car. “Not in your fragile state” Jonathon said, laughing. “Well, I bet I could take you right now” I joked. “Didn’t you see what happened back there? I almost knocked you out” he said, still laughing to himself.

“Not fair, you could of at least warned me or tried not to kick me” I told him. “I figured you would move, I was flying towards your head” Jonathon said, laughing uncontrollably.

Finally, we got to my car and then Jonathon gave me a hug. “So I’ll see you at your place?” He asked me. “Yup, I’ll be there. See you soon” I told him, as he walked away.

“Yeah, it’s...it’s umm interesting” Lin said, hesitantly. I had just made some peanut butter cookies. I had come across the recipe on Pinterest and I knew I had to try and make them. “You don’t like them?” I asked Lin. I grabbed one and stood a bite. It was, by far, one of the worst things that I had ever eaten.

My boyfriend, Lin, and I had gotten really inspired by some baking show we had watched. So for the last two weeks, we’d both been trying to make new recipes. None of them had turned out this bad though.

“Oh, you were right” I said, grimacing as I swallowed it. “I tried to tell you” Lin said, defending himself. “Is my food always this bad? Be honest” I asked Lin. “No, normally your food is great, and I’m not just saying that. Maybe one of the ingredients you used was expired or something” Lin suggested.

“Yeah maybe. Thanks for trying them though” I said, kissing Lin’s cheek. “So what else do you want to do today? Because baking was definitely a bust” Lin said, chuckling. “Well, I ordered some groceries online and I have to go pick them up. I have to leave in like five minutes” I told him.

“Well, I can go get them for you sweetheart” Lin suggested. “Are you sure?” I asked him. “Yeah, it’ll give you some time to dispose of that disaster” Lin said, gesturing toward the cookies. “Alright, well I’ll clean this up and when you get back, we can watch a movie. How does that sound?” I told him. “Sounds like a plan. Love you” he said, pecking my lips. “Love you too, drive safe” I told him, as he grabbed the car keys and left.

I went straight for the plate of cookies and dumped them right in the trash. “I wonder why these were so bad” I muttered to myself.

I decided to check if any of the ingredients were expired. I opened the door of the fridge and began checking expiration dates. Then, I checked the butter and saw that it had expired two months ago. “Nope, that’s disgusting” I said, as I tossed it in the trash.

I finished cleaning up the bowls and stuff I had used to make the cookies. I grabbed my phone and walked into mine and Lin’s bedroom. I saw that I had a text from Daveed. I opened it and it said:

“Hey is Lin home right now?”

I quickly typed back:

“No I’m sorry, he just left to go get some groceries. Is he not answering his phone or something?”

While I waited for a response, I grabbed the tv remote and turned on Netflix. I put on a new tv show that I had been watching. I kept checking my phone to see if Daveed had texted me back, but I never saw a response.

Then, I heard a knock at the door. I figured that it was Lin and his hands were full of groceries so he couldn’t open the door. I quickly walked to the front door and opened it.

Instead of Lin, I saw Daveed standing there, looking rather anxious. “Uh, hey Daveed what’s up?” I asked, confused. “Hi Y/N. I...um...can I...can I come in?” He asked, really sounding nervous.

Daveed and I had been friends for a while. He was actually the one that introduced me to Lin. But, before that happened, I had a bit of a crush on Daveed. I had always figured he would never like me back, so I tried to push those feelings away. Then, Lin asked me on a date and Daveed encouraged me to go, so I kind of gave up on that fantasy.

“Yeah of course, come on in” I said, opening the door a little wider. He walked in and I closed the door behind him. “Is everything okay?” I asked him, concerned. “Yeah...um I need to talk to you” he told me. “Okay, let’s go sit down” I told him, as I grabbed his arm and led him to the couch.

“So what’s going on?” I asked him, once we had sat down. “I don’t know how to tell you this” he said, fidgeting with his hands. He really seemed to be struggling with this and it hurt to know that I couldn’t help him, unless he told me what he needed to say.

“Take your time, it’s okay” I said, grabbing his hands so he would stop fidgeting. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

“Y/N, I’m in love with you” he said, simply.

I had been imagining so many possibilities of what he had to tell me, but this one had not crossed my mind once.

I didn’t know how to react, how do you react when your best friend confesses they’re in love with you?

I was about to try and piece together a response, when I heard “What the hell is going on here?” being yelled. I turned and saw Lin standing by the front door, with his hands full of groceries.

I, once again, was stunned. Lin threw the groceries down on the counter. “Are you cheating on me?” Lin asked, walking over toward us.

“Lin, calm down, Daveed and I were just talking” I said, trying to make him less angry. I glanced over at Daveed and he looked like he had seen a ghost.

“It looks like you’re doing more than just talking. He just said that he loves you. Are you trying to take Y/N from me?” Lin asked Daveed, getting in his face. I pushed Lin away from him, and got in between them.

“Lin, leave him alone” I said, trying to deescalate the situation. “Then, tell me what’s going on here” Lin said. “I shouldn’t of come, I’m gonna leave” Daveed said, walking around Lin.

“No Daveed, wait” I said, trying to stop him. He didn’t listen though, he walked straight out the door. “So would you care to explain that?” Lin asked me.

“I...uh...I don’t know” I said, still confused as to what had happened. “That’s what I thought” he said, storming off to our bedroom.

I was so confused, everything had happened so fast that I hadn’t had time to process it all. Lin and Daveed were my two best friends and they were my rocks. And now, it seemed my relationship with both of them had just fallen apart.

I didn’t know how to feel.

I had never actually brought it up to Daveed that I used to like him. I always wondered what stopped me from telling him. If I had brought it up, we both would’ve just laughed about it. We were super close friends, so why couldn’t I tell him? I wondered if I hadn’t ever truly gotten over him?

But, also I loved Lin with every part of my being. He made me feel safe and protected. He had always been there for me and had never let me down.

I then realized that I was in love with my two best friends.

Regardless of the decision I made, I was going to lose a best friend. I knew in my heart which decision I had to make though.

“Hey Y/N, are you alright? We can take a break so that you can have a few minutes” I heard my director say. I had been cast in a new movie that coming out. However, today I hadn’t been feeling the best. I was feeling really dizzy and light-headed. I figured I was just dehydrated, so I’d been drinking tons of water, hoping that would fix it.

“No no no, I’m good. I promise” I reassured the director. “Alright, if you say so. Action” the director called out.

“Tanya, we have to do something about this, we can’t just sit around and do nothing” my costar, Rachelle, said, starting the scene. “I know we do, but is this really our only option? There has to be a better option, right?” I recited my line.

I felt very weak, I could feel my legs start to shake underneath me. Rachelle was saying her next line, but I couldn’t hear it. Everything started to sound mumbled. It felt like the room was spinning. I couldn’t hear what was happening, I just heard ringing.

Rachelle stepped toward me and grabbed my arms to hold me up. She asked me a question, but I couldn’t tell what she was saying. My eyelids started to feel heavier and heavier and then everything went black.

I heard a distant beeping sound. Over and over and over again. Slowly, I opened my eyes and tried to figure out where I was and what was beeping.

The room was very bright and it took my eyes a second to adjust. I saw white walls and a monitor next to me. Then, I recognized that I was in a hospital room. I looked over and saw Pippa sitting in a chair, next to me. Pippa was my long term girlfriend and the love of my life.

“Hey, you’re awake” she said, looking up from her book. She set the book down and grabbed my hand. “What’s going on?” I asked her confused. “You fainted at work. They’ve been running all sorts of tests to figure out what happened. I was so worried when Rachelle called me. All I heard was hospital and I panicked. I’m glad you’re okay though” she said, kissing the back of my hand.

There was a knock at the door and we both looked over and saw the doctor in the doorway. “Look who's awake” he said, walking into the room. “Doctor, do you what happened?” Pippa asked him.

“We ran brain imaging and a bunch of tests and we know that you don’t have a concussion or anything other serious issues” the doctor explained. “But why did Y/N pass out? She’s never fainted before” Pippa asked.

“Well we ran another test, just as a precaution really. But we found out that Y/N is pregnant. Fainting during the first trimester is really common, so it’s nothing to worry about. Just be careful and don’t over exert yourself” the doctor said, leaving the room and closing the door on his way out.

I was so stunned, I didn’t know how to react. I had never been more happy in my life. It didn’t feel real, but I seemed to have forgotten how to move or speak.

Pippa and I had been trying to get pregnant for a while, through a sperm donor. We hadn’t had any success yet, and we were starting to get discouraged. Apparently it had worked though. I was actually pregnant.

“You’re...you’re pregnant” Pippa said, seeming to be in as much shock as I was. “I can not believe this, we finally have a baby” I said, smiling.

Pippa stood up and planted a kiss on my lips. We both pulled away and leaned our foreheads against each other’s. “A baby, this is big” I whispered. “Really big, but I’m so excited. We’re finally gonna be mommas” Pippa said, with a huge grin on her face.

“Now you’re going to have to go to the store and buy me all of my weird pregnancy craving foods” I said, giggling. “Nothing would make me happier” she said, kissing my forehead.

I heard Pippa’s phone ding and she quickly glanced at it. She smiled to herself. “There’s some people here to see you” she said, smiling. She walked over to the window that looked into the hallway and opened the blinds.

I saw the entire Hamilton cast standing outside the window. Pippa and I had met being apart of the Hamilton cast and we were all a big family.

They all waved to me and blew me kisses. I just giggled to myself, I loved them all so much. I waved back at them.

“Tell those dorks to come in” I told Pippa, laughing. She walked over to the door, opened it, and invited them in.

“How’s our rockstar doing?” Renée asked, walking over to my side. “I’m doing pretty good, what are all you guys doing here? You didn’t have to come” I told them.

“As soon as Pippa said you were at the hospital, we all dropped everything and came as fast as we could” Daveed explained. “We had to make sure that you’re okay, champ” Lin said, smiling at me.

“So what are the doctors saying?” Jasmine asked. “Well we have some news” I said, mysteriously. “Y/N’s pregnant” Pippa announced.

They all looked very shocked and then all of their shocked expressions turned into faces of joy.

“Congratulations you two” Renée said, giving me a hug. “Wait, I can’t believe this. The sperm donation worked? I’m so happy for you guys” Jasmine said.

Then the doctor walked back in the room. “I’m going to have to ask that you only have three people in the room at a time” the doctor said.

“You guys can’t even go to a hospital without breaking the rules” I joked. “Well I should get going, but I’m really happy for you guys” Daveed said, giving me a hug. “Yeah, you guys can all go, Jasmine and I can stay in case you guys need anything” Anthony proposed.

“Thank you all for coming” I said, as everyone gave me a hug. Jasmine grabbed a chair and sat down next to the bed. “I’m going to go and try to find a vending machine, do you guys need anything?” Anthony asked.

“No, I’m good. What about you Y/N, you need anything?” Pippa asked me. “Do you think you could hunt down a nurse and get me an extra blanket? It’s freezing in here” I asked Anthony. “Your wish is my command” he said, as he left the room.

“So you guys are going to be parents” Jasmine said, smiling. “We’re going to be parents, that still doesn’t sound real” I said, smiling at Pippa.
