โโโคน โฟ Sumarry: Two months in a new time blur together as you and Ellie grow closer. Small touches, shared warmth, and quiet moments reveal feelings neither of you fully understands โ yet somehow, being near her begins to feel like home.

Two months had passed in a blur, slipping through your fingers like smoke. As the days went by, you felt yourself slowly fading, as if you didnโt fully belong anywhere anymore. Ellie was still trying to understand what had brought you to that time, searching for some kind of explanation, but it wasnโt easy, especially at the end of the year, when she was overwhelmed with exams and graduation pressure. Ellie was a nerd, yes, but not a genius. She did her best, even when she didnโt have all the answers.
Amid all the despair and the aching longing for your family, you and Ellie grew closer. She became your anchor, the one constant in this unfamiliar world. She was all you had and she was still trying, never giving up on you.
Going to school with Ellie taught you more than just subjects from textbooks. Catching up on the final year was exhausting, and sometimes it felt impossible to understand everything so quickly, but Ellie was endlessly patient, explaining things over and over until they finally made sense.ย
โHeyโฆ youโve been quiet all day,โ Ellie said softly, closing her notebook and turning toward you. โDid something happen?โ
You shrugged, staring at your hands. โI donโt know. Some days just feel heavier than others.โ
Ellie nodded, as if she understood more than she let on. โIs itโฆ 1963 again?โ
Your breath caught for a moment. โYeah,โ you admitted. โI keep thinking about what my family might be doing right now. If they even notice Iโm gone yet.โ
Ellie swallowed. โIโm sorry,โ she said. โI wish I knew how to fix this. I really do.โ
โYouโre already doing more than enough,โ you replied quickly, finally looking at her. โYou didnโt ask for me to show up in your life like this.โ
She smiled sadly. โYouโre not a burden, you know that, right?โ
โEverything here is so different. Sometimes Iโm scared Iโll forget who I used to be.โ You said quietly.
Ellie leaned back in her chair, thinking. โTalk to me about it. About your time. About who you are.โ
You hesitated, then nodded. โChristmas wasโฆ quieter where Iโm from, only a few peopleโ you said. โBut it felt warmer. Just because everyone was together.โ
Ellieโs eyes softened. โThen weโll make this Christmas feel like that,โ she said gently. โIt wonโt be perfect, butโฆ you wonโt be alone.โ
You smiled, a small but genuine one. โThank you, Ellie.โ
โAlways,โ she replied. โUntil we figure out how to get you home, or until youโre ready for whatever comes next.โ
With that, you just stared at her. Your heart warmed again, beating faster in your chest. It felt strange, almost unsettling, to feel this way about a friend. You had friends back in your own time, people you cared about deeply, but you had never felt this. Maybe it was because Ellie was different. She was kind in a quiet way, patient, gentle. Maybe she was simply such a good friend โ your favorite โ that your heart reacted without asking permission.
Ellie wasnโt immune to the feeling either. The difference was that she recognized it. She knew what it meant, even if she didnโt fully understand what to do with it yet. Maybe it was too soon. Maybe she was scared you wouldnโt feel the same or that the time you came from made everything more complicated.
You just kept looking at each other, the silence stretching between you. You felt an urge to move closer, to close the small distance separating you. Maybe for a hug. Why did you suddenly feel so aware of her presence, so sensitive to every little movement? Best friends didnโt usually feel like thisโฆ did they?
Ellie gathered her courage and leaned in slightly. You didnโt move. Not because you didnโt want to โ but because you couldnโt. You were completely mesmerized by her: the freckles scattered across her face, the soft green of her eyes. The silence grew heavier, pressing against your chest, until it became unbearable. You cleared your throat and looked away.
Ellie let out a small, nervous laugh.
โWhy.. Why do I feel weird wanting a hug?โ you asked, awkward.
โwell.. I don't know. You can always ask for a hug from me.โ She said, already opening her arms to welcome you.
You didn't waste your time, already leaning into her arms and letting out a quiet sigh.
For Ellie, it was just a hug. Simple. Natural. Almost innocent.
For you, it felt like crossing a line carved into your bones decades ago.
The moment her arms wrapped around you, your body betrayed you. You melted, not dramatically, not visibly but in a way that scared you far more. Your shoulders relaxed. Your breath evened out. Your forehead brushed against her collarbone, and for half a second, you forgot where you were. Ellie smelled like soap and something warm, something alive. Your hands hovered awkwardly at her sides. You didnโt hug back. You clung. The realization hit you all at once. sharp and merciless.ย ย
Ellieโs arms stayed around you for a moment longer than expected. You didnโt understand why your chest felt tight. Or why your hands trembled slightly against her back. It didnโt feel like fear exactly. Fear you knew well. This was something else. Something unfamiliar. Uninvited.
You pulled away first. Too fast.
โIโโ You stopped yourself. You didnโt even know what you were about to say. Ellie watched you carefully, like she was afraid a sudden move might scare you off. โAre you okay?โ You nodded. Then shook your head. Then nodded again. โI donโt know,โ you admitted. The words tasted strange. โI justโฆ I donโt usually feel like this.โย
โLike what?โ she asked gently.
You opened your mouth โ and closed it.
There was no word for it. No memory to compare it to. Just a restless sensation under your skin, a warmth that made you want to step closer and farther away at the same time.
โI don't know.. like โโย You stopped. โLike I can't breathe?โ you said finally, quieter. Just confused. Ellieโs expression softened. You hugged your arms around yourself, suddenly very aware of your own body, of how close she still was. โWhy are you looking at me like that?โ You asked, ashamed. โI can give you space,โ she said immediately. โI donโt want to make you uncomfortable.โ
That made your stomach twist. It wasnโt her presence that bothered you. It was how aware you were of it.
โNo,โ you said quickly, then hesitated. โI meanโ I donโt know. I just need a second.โ You looked anywhere but at her. The room felt smaller now. Quieter. Like it was waiting for you to figure something out you didnโt have the tools for. Ellie spoke softly. โYou donโt have to understand it right now.โ
You let out a shaky breath. Ellie tilted her head slightly. โwhat do you do when something doesnโt make sense?โ
ย โI pretend it goes away,โ you answered. Ellie didnโt smile. โDoes it?โ
Because even now, your body still remembered the shape of her arms around you. The calm. The warmth. The way everything else had gone quiet.
You didnโt know what that meant. But you knew it hadnโt gone away.
You shook your head. โUgh, I feel weird,โ you said, curling into yourself. โAm I weird?โ You lifted your head.
Ellie chuckled softly. โKinda.โ
โOhโฆโย You made a face.
โBut whatโs wrong with being weird?โ she added, tilting her head to the side.
You thought about it for a second. โWeird usually means people stare,โ you said. โOr whisper.โ Ellie shrugged. โYeah, but people stare at lots of things. Like pineapple on pizza.โ
That caught you off guard. You snorted before you could stop yourself. โThatโs not the same.โ
โIt is,โ she insisted. โBoth make people irrationally angry.โ You shook your head again, but this time you were smiling a little. โI donโt knowโฆ this feels different.โ
You hesitated, searching for the right words and finding none. โLike my body didnโt get the memo,โ you said. โLike itโs reacting to something my brain didnโt agree to.โ
Ellie laughed, softer this time. โOkay, yeah. That happens.โ
You blinked. โIt does?โ
โAll the time,โ she said easily. โBodies are weird. They do stuff without asking.โ That made you relax. just a bit. You uncrossed your arms, then crossed them again out of habit. โSo Iโm not broken?โ
Ellie looked at you like that idea was genuinely funny. โNo. If you were broken, Iโd hear some kind of cracking sound.โ
You smiled despite yourself. There was a small pause. Not awkward โ just quiet.
You glanced at her. โSoโฆ when something feels weird, what do you do?โ
Ellie thought for a moment. โI usually just let it be weird,โ she said. โI donโt poke it too much.โ
โThat sounds dangerous.โ
She grinned. โOnly if you overthink it.โ
You huffed. โI overthink everything.โ
โI noticed,โ Ellie teased gently.
The warmth crept back into your chest. That same confusing flutter, but this time, it didnโt feel so alarming. Still strange. Still unfamiliar. Justโฆ less scary.
You didnโt know what it meant. But for now, you could live with weird.
Ellie shifted closer, slow enough that you noticed every inch of it.
You tensed out of habit, then stopped yourself. Nothing bad happened. The floor didnโt open. No alarms went off. It was justโฆ her, sitting near you, knees almost touching. โItโs getting late,โ she said. โYou look tired.โ
โIโm not tired,โ you replied automatically.
Ellie gave you a look. โYou just yawned.โ
โThat wasโฆ a thinking yawn.โ
There was a beat of silence. Comfortable this time. The kind that didnโt ask anything of you. โYou can stay,โ Ellie said casually. โIf you want. You donโt have to go anywhere right now.โ You hesitated. Staying felt like a decision. Leaving felt like one too. Somehow, staying felt easier.
โOkay,โ you said. โBut just for a bit.โ
โJust a bit,โ she echoed. You both lay down, awkward at first, leaving a polite amount of space between your bodies. Too much space. You stared at the ceiling, very aware of the warmth beside you, of the way her breathing slowly evened out. After a few minutes, Ellie shifted in her sleep, rolling slightly toward you. Her arm brushed yours.
Thenโฆ nothing happened.
Your heart sped up anyway.
You told yourself it was just practical. the room was cool, bodies naturally moved toward warmth. That made sense. That was reasonable. You let yourself relax a little. Another minute passed. Maybe two. Without fully deciding to, you turned onto your side. Ellie murmured something unintelligible, then half-asleep tucked herself closer, her arm settling around your waist like it had always belonged there. You sucked in a quiet breath. This shouldโve felt wrong. Alarming. Unacceptable.
Instead, your body softened again, betraying you for the second time that night.
You stayed very still at first, afraid that moving might wake her, or worse โ make you aware of what you were doing. But the warmth was steady. Her breathing slow. Safe. Eventually, cautiously, you rested your hand against her arm.
She sighed softly, content, and pulled you in just a little more. Your forehead rested against her shoulder. Your legs tangled without ceremony.
You didnโt know what this meant. You didnโt know what to call it. You didnโt know what tomorrow would demand of you. But right now, wrapped in Ellieโs arms, with the world held at a distance, the weird feeling finally quieted.
Morning didnโt change things.
That was what surprised you the most.
You woke up tangled in Ellie โ her arm still around you, your face pressed lightly against her shoulder โ and for a split second, panic tried to kick in. Then you realized she was still asleep, breathing slow and warm, completely unbothered.
When she finally stirred, there was no dramatic reaction. No jumping apart. Just a sleepy sound from her throat and a lazy stretch that somehow pulled you closer instead of away. โMorning,โ she mumbled.
โMorning,โ you answered, your voice rough from sleep.
Neither of you mentioned the fact that you were still holding each other. You expected things to snap back into place after that. Distance. Awareness. Rules. But they didnโt. Instead, little things started happening.
Ellie would sit closer than necessary, knees brushing yours like it was an accident โ even when there was plenty of space. When she laughed, sheโd lean into you without thinking, her shoulder knocking into yours, her hand briefly gripping your arm for balance. And you? you didnโt move away.
Sometimes your fingers found the sleeve of her jacket when she was talking, tugging at it absentmindedly. Sometimes youโd reach out to get her attention and realize your hand had been resting on her wrist a second longer than needed.
None of it felt planned. That was the strange part. The touches justโฆ appeared. Like theyโd always been there and you were only now noticing them.
Once, she brushed a crumb off the corner of your mouth with her thumb before either of you realized what was happening. You froze, eyes wide, heart kicking hard against your ribs.
โOhโ sorry,โ she said quickly. โI didnโt even think.โ
You swallowed. โItโsโฆ fine.โ
Another time, you fell asleep on the couch, head tipping sideways. When you woke up, your head was in her lap, her fingers lazily tracing nothing in particular along your arm as she watched something on TV. You shifted slightly.
She looked down. โYou okay?โ
โYeah,โ you said. After a beat: โYou can keep doing that.โ
She smiled โ small, warm, not teasing. โOkay.โ
What unsettled you wasnโt the closeness anymore.
It was how natural it felt.
Your body seemed to recognize Ellie before your mind could catch up. Leaning toward her when you laughed. Turning to her first when something caught your attention. Relaxing the moment you felt her nearby.
One evening, walking side by side, your hands brushed.
You both paused. Neither of you pulled away.
Ellie glanced at you, searching your face. โIs this okay?โ You looked at your hands. How easily they fit. โI think so,โ you said slowly. โIt doesnโt feelโฆ loud.โ She smiled softly. โGood.โ Your fingers curled around hers before you had time to think about it.
You still didnโt know what any of it meant.
You still didnโt have a name for the feeling.
But whatever it was, it kept showing up in quiet ways โ in borrowed warmth, in absent touches, in the simple fact that being close to Ellie felt less like a question now... and more like an answer you hadnโt learned how to say yet.
