One omelet later, Wade hands over the dish to Natasha. It's been cooked to near perfection, and for exactly the right amount of time someone should cook an omelet for. Unfortunately, Deadpool being Deadpool and rather rude, he's forgotten to buy enough ingredients for himself. Looks like cereal it is!

The mercenary takes a seat opposite the Black Widow and rolls up the mask. He could take it off, she has seen every inch of him by now, but it's still somewhat of a safety net. The missing time and hole in his mind has had him retreating into whatever comfort he can find. It's been sex and violence mostly.

she grabs two forks, in case he wants to try his creation. natasha doesn't question why there's only one. she takes her plate and takes her seat, using the side of her fork to cut into the omelet.

"oh, so this isn't some kind of PROMISE OMELET ??" she asks, hint of a smile brushing against her mouth before she takes her first bite. the nod of her head is indication enough that she enjoys it, but she's a big girl, she can affirm with her words. "it's good, thank you."

he’s quick, but natasha expects nothing less from the man who has a response for nearly everything ( nearly, she thinks with some small sense of pride to moments perhaps hours ago and her ability to render him speechless ).  “that’s certainly a legacy to live up to,” she laughs softly, watching him get ready to go food shopping for her, of all things.  domesticity is… a tight line to straddle, these new memories knocking at the door of old ones, fake ones; unease in settling into a routine with someone new. but if natasha is uncomfortable with their current arrangement, it doesn’t show.  and it certainly wouldn’t be his fault.  they both have issues.  maybe that’s what makes it seem easy. “i’ll be here,” she says, pushing herself out of bed with every intention to go wash up while he’s gone, and rolls back her shoulders.  modesty left their dynamic some time ago.  natasha passes him to open the bedroom door, a little black blur of a cat speeding into the bedroom once he’s allowed, but her attention stays on wade.  “don’t be too long.”

Deadpool takes a glance that lingers just a beat too long at Natasha's sleepwear, or lack thereof, and he's surprised when the cat lands on the bed next to him. It snaps him about of his leering, although Deadpool takes a moment to wonder if it is leering when it's consensual, and at what point it becomes admiration, or whether it's the other way around. The leering-to-admiration pipeline, or admiration-to-leering pipeline, is a cruel mistress.

She's looking at him, so he pets the cat quickly and fastens his boots. Clears his throat. Checks he's in the right reality, because how did this ever fall into place for him, then stands. "I scoped out the corner store's layout in case of another Skrull invasion, I got all the exits memorized and -- most importantly -- the whereabouts of the ingredients for a tasty omelet are seared into my brain. If there's one thing those Skrulls love, it's a man who can cook up a mean breakfast." A shrug. "Gotta be prepared."

she hangs up her towel and walks back out into the living room. "that's a new one," she replies, noting the bag of groceries. the domesticity of it gives her momentary pause. the simplicity of a bag of groceries in an otherwise least-homely place to live, the scene a memory from someone else's life which she brushes away. there isn't a comparison, this is her life. this is her life.
