In Paper Mario, whenever a Blooper miniboss appears, a text box with a single word: “BLOOPER!” is displayed while a musical sting plays. As most players would quickly read and dismiss the text box, the Blooper would immediately start the battle.

However, deliberately lingering on that text box and not advancing it reveals that after the musical sting, the music actually continues in a unique short loop. This music would not be heard by the vast majority of players as the beginning of the song is designed to sound like a short sting instead of an introduction to a regular looping track.

An officially licensed 1989 Super Mario Bros. coloring book characterizes Mario as someone who skateboards in his free time.

The 1994 “Donkey Kong Country Exposed” promotional VHS contained an extremely brief scene of Donkey Kong standing by the side of a road with a sign reading “Redmond”, referring to the location of the Nintendo of America headquarters in Redmond, Washington, seen with a negative filter.
