lando's interview for f1tv after the quali in hungary:
"hey lando, congratulations. how good is it to get a first pole as a world champion and get the job done when you could today?"
lando: "i mean it's just good to be on pole, no matter if you're champion or not. it's just a good feeling. i felt good all weekend. i mean the last few weekends, honestly, i felt pretty good. so it's been nice that i've continued my good feelings in the car. we've obviously had some of the upgrades that certainly helped this weekend. we've always performed well as a team on this track. so i think when you put all these things together, it's nice to see that result can kind of come out of it.
i think the fact that we're still as quick as ferrari - like, i put my money on ferrari before the weekend started. and they have been insanely quick this weekend. but come qualifying, we just seem to take a bit more of a step forward and i felt very very confident in q1 and q2. i felt confident in q3, just my laps were not the best.
i certainly knew it was possible. i had good confidence that i could go out and get pole today. so that's been a very good feeling and a nice one i've missed for quite a while. so the the fact that we could put it all together and we got pole today is certainly a good sign."
"and the team obviously done a great job to give you a car with an upgrade that's added performance. how good is that for your confidence in tomorrow's race?"
lando: "yeah, very good. the race is the race, it's a very different situation to what we've been in. the race pace on others looks very strong. certainly on us, didn't look bad either. but it's always a bit tricky to know how things can go with a new car and new bits.
we'll stay just focused, focused on doing our own job, maximising our own performance. there's always going to be tough competition in f1, but as long as we focus on maximising ourselves, then i always have confidence in us."
