However after meeting Simon and buying plants just to visit him, he sort of starts taking care of them and becoming a good owner for them.

Idk something about Grace not really (physically) caring for plants because he had other things to worry about, to then caring for plants because he wants the plants he bought from Simon to not die by his own negligence.
