The Artist becomes the Art

Seeing the beauty in someone else is far easier a task most days than to see it in oneself. The truth is, we find strength in being kind in our compliments towards others, while shame in the criticizing of our own confidence.

Being an artist, a male, I battle my insecurities like anyone else. I've always struggled seeing myself in a good light. My eyes can always illuminate over the curves of my muses, but I cast shadows over myself. I realize I promote body positivity and self-confidence through my art but don't live in that message in my reality.

So, in this new year I must challenge myself everyday to accept my imperfections, to appreciate my body for all that it does for me and for its beauty. To live out of my comfort zone a little more each day, starting with today. This is the first intimate portrait I've done of myself.
