Prince William and his “little joy of heaven”

On May 2nd 2015, HRH The Duchess of Cambridge was delivered a daughter. The new princess, who weighed 8lb 3oz, was given the name HRH Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge. Charlotte is believed to be a nod to both William’s father, Charles, as well as Catherine’s mother (Carole) and sister (Philippa Charlotte). Elizabeth is the name of William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and the middle name of both Catherine and Carole. Diana is an obvious nod to the princess’s late grandmother, the Princess of Wales
