Jo is singing along to fear of the dark when the door of the Roadhouse opens and two patrons stumble in, chased by a gust of wind. She looks up tiredly, expecting your average plaid-wearing bearded Joe, but what she finds instead brings a smile to her lips.

“Winchester! I’ll be damned!” she cries, pushing her feet off the table and standing up. Dean smiles and hugs her. He smells faintly of aftershave and cigarette. Two years ago, it would have been enough to send her pulse racing, but now she only feels a twinge of longing. Nothing like being half-eaten by a hellhound to reconsider your definition of bad idea.

“Hi, Jo,” he says gruffly before stalking towards the counter, where Ellen and Ash are bickering.

Jo grins at his retreating back and goes to follow him when she catches a gaze on her.

That’s right. Dean didn’t come alone.

The girl is a pretty redhead with a Harry Potter t-shirt, and she’s staring at Jo behind thick-rimmed glasses, eyes wide.

“Hi,” Jo says with a grin, offering her hand. “I’m –”

“Jo Harvelle,” The girl blurts out, shaking her hand enthusiastically. “God, you’re even prettier than I imagined.”

That makes Jo pause, and the girl blushes a fierce red.

“Wow, that was really creepy. I mean, I’ve read the books? And you’re one of my favorite characters. I had a huge crush on you. Not that you’re a character, obviously. Well, you are, but you also exist, which makes you a –human being…” Her voice trails off, and she looks away with a sigh. “God, I’m so awkward.”

She looks like she’s considering making a run for it, and Jo doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about, but she also heard the word crush and she knows that she really, really wants to find out.

“What’s your name?”

The girl winces. “Ah, yeah, I probably should have started with that. I’m Charlie. Charlie Bradbury.”

Jo just moved to a new town. Everything was new to her; she had never lived anywhere with a park. Or anywhere with an autumn this bright and beautiful. Jo first saw Anna in the sky. From a distance, it looked like she was flying. When she got closer, she realized it was a swing, tied to a old tree, going impossibly high. When Anna climbed off the swing, Jo knew she had to know her. And then Anna smiled at her. And Jo knew they were going to be in love.

“Do ya ever miss your family, Jodes?”

Jody’s head snapped up, her eyes growing wide when she saw the way Donna was fidgeting with the things in her lap. She had shared the story of how she’d met Sam and Dean with her a while ago, but Donna had never brought the subject up herself. And right now, she was twirling her pen around in her hands and biting her lip in the way she only did when she was really nervous about something important.

“Yeah, of course. I miss them all the time,” Jody answered cautiously, putting aside her notes on their most recent case to give Donna her full attention. “Why do you ask?”

Ruby and Anna are different mermaids from different clans with one thing in common; they both want to be human.

One day, Ruby swims out too far and gets caught in a storm near the other territory. Luckily, she is saved by Anna who returns her home. But Ruby wants to see her saviour again.

Everyday after, they swim out to an area belonging to neither clan. Sometimes they sit and watch humans on the beach, other times, they have diving competitions as they slowly fall in love. Ana then they make a brave decision.

They go and see a sea witch who will give them legs for twenty four hours. Once the day is over, they will be able to move between the sea and land as they wish. But if they are not in the sea again before the twenty four hours are up, they will turn into water.

“You need to be more careful,” Claire chastises with the cap of the alcohol bottle between her teeth. Even though the words are muffled and Krissy’s halfway drunk, she’s heard, if not understood.

“You don’t get it,” Krissy says. They’ve had this argument about a million times already, and Claire is so not in the mood to go over it all again, especially with all of the blood Krissy’s lost tonight and with all of the alcohol she’s drunk to dull the pain. Claire wishes alcohol was an option for herself, but one of them needs to have a level head, and that responsibility always falls to her. “Do you know how many people I’ve saved? I’m a hero!”

“And will you still be a hero when you’re dead?” Claire smacks. Her face burns, but she doesn’t take the words back. She doesn’t care how much they might sting Krissy. No, she doesn’t.

Except she completely does. It breaks her heart to see Krissy so full of pain. Claire’s seen Krissy near death more times than she cares to count, has seen her writhe in bed from excruciating menstrual cycles, has seen her beaten down and broken on a daily basis. But she’s never seen her look as hurt as she does now, and it’s all because of Claire’s words.

“I promise not to be a martyr,” Krissy mumbles. “I don’t want to die. Not yet. Not anytime soon.”

“Then what’s with this?” Claire gestures vaguely at all the teeth marks and claw stripes marring Krissy’s body, making her pale from blood loss. Krissy turns her head away from Claire, tenses her jaw.

“This is saving civilians,” Krissy justifies. Claire snorts, and Krissy turns her wet eyes back to her. Fuck. Claire bites the inside of her bottom lip. “I’m making the world a safer place. You deserve a safe world. I’m making one for you.”

Claire didn’t know Krissy had enough strength in her to do surge up, but she does that and even more. She captures Claire’s lips with her own, sucks and draws. Claire wants to stop. Everything screams at her to end this now. But this is only the beginning of what she’s been dying to try ever since she met Krissy Chambers in that church eons ago. This is the start of everything she’s ever wanted since that moment.
