Shimada Bros Demon Slayer AU!

While Hanzo was training to be the next daimyo to watch over Hanamura at the Shimada castle, Genji is out partying. As alway, he left his responsibilities to his capable anija. Later that night, he comes back home drunk but sobers up at the sight of the castle guards and his family massacred. Genji takes his still-warm brother down the hill to find a doctor but a demon transformation takes hold of Hanzo. A newly-demonized Hanzo lunges at Genji when Jesse McCree swoops into the rescue! McCree, with a strong sense of justice, sees Hanzo refusing to eat his brother and lets him live, sending Genji off the Morrison to train to be a Demon Slayer. Genji, for once in his life, is determined to take responsibility and do whatever it takes to turn his bro back into a human. Welcome to our au, please drown with us.

The average height of Japanese men is 5'7" and hanzo is 5'8" which really means… he isn’t really short. Everyone in ovw is just stupid tall. But alas the fandom has spoken. Hanzo is short thus he is smol.

An old thought I had came back to me and I felt the need to share it this way. When one has mediocre skills in writing and drawing well then…might as well combine it.

This scene came to me when the voiceline between Ana and Hanzo about Ana saying she knows Sojiro was proud of Hanzo got me wanting Ana to adopt Hanzo. Ana being like this poor boy needs more words of affirmation from his parents. Let me be that mamasita, I'm adopting him, this is my son now. (Meanwhile Junkrat is crying in a corner)

Hanzo joins Overwatch and is set in the beginning of his arrival of the Watchpoint and met all the members. During his first few weeks he meets with all the members and while some are a bit wary of his presence and background most the members are friendly. Both reactions towards him makes him uncomfortable. With him being pretty isolated and in a constant state of hiding from assassins, enemies, and generally living a anti-social life the past decade he is suspicious by nature and paranoid.

As time passes so does his paranoia. Why are some of the members being nice to him? Why is he here? Why did he think this was a good idea? Everything rubs him the wrong way and he starts getting his head full of dark thoughts alongside the usual guilt that is always in the backseat. Insomnia is stronger than ever and he wanders hallways during the long sleepless nights and stays out of reach from others during the day.

Ana observes Hanzo’s habits from afar but one quiet evening she offers him some tea and requests him to just sit with her.

He’s so tired but can't sleep so Hanzo, being the respectable good boy he is, accepts Ana’s hospitality and sits with her. Ana’s motherly instincts says quiet is what Hanzo needs so she simply keeps him company with some good tea and eventually pulls out her pouch of knitting supplies and starts clicking away.

Hanzo finds the repetitive clicking and rhythmic hand motions comforting. He watches beautiful, orderly, repeated patterns coming together and it reminds him of Satya’s (“I sense a kindred spirit”) creations. Ana notices his attention and offers to teach him. He declines.

Ana continues to invite Hanzo to sit with her and drink tea as she continues her knitting projects. He always watches her (visual asmr) and she extends her offer to teach every time. Hanzo eventually accepts. He’s bad at it somehow and feels embarrassed but he wants to try again. Ana brings him crochet hooks next time to try and he finds it to his liking. (I’m not projecting, crochet is easier for me-for Hanzo). Training and climbing all his life has his hands heavily calloused.

Hanzo completes his first project, a single crochet (basic stitch) square in a deep blue. He thinks its not very practical and not useful for anything but he still feels a sense of accomplishment. He created something and it sparks joy. The blue square is set aside in his room. Ana congratulates his first creation with a soft cashmere cardigan she knitted. He almost cries. Almost. Maybe he did. Maybe he didn’t. Ana wont kiss and tell.

It becomes a regular scene at the watchpoint of Ana and Hanzo sitting together outside with tea and balls of yarn. Ana knitting and Hanzo crocheting. His skills evolve rapidly cause never second best.

I imagined a scene, in a universe where the Junkers joins Overwatch, where Junkrat pokes fun at Hanzo’s new hobby. Hanzo’s response is to say nothing but pull out a completed scarf with a gradient of yellows to orange and wrap it around Jamison. Rat is shook and Hanzo just says “stay warm” and walks away. Rat develops a friend crush and offers Hanzo snacks next time.

Hanzo starts making friends with members and starts gifting his crochet works.

Genji gets a sweater. Shoulder holes for his vents included.

Cowboy gets a cardigan with tassels hanging in the back and along the sleeves. Cowboy style. It was kind of a joke but Cole wont stop wearing it and strutting hard so that the tassels swings around everywhere. Full cowboy potential is released he even brings out his bolo tie.

Finally Hanzo makes a cardigan for Ana with patches of different kinds of granny squares and solid colored squares. One of the squares is a deep blue and not as perfect as the other patches.
