I've been working on this drawing for a long time because I can't decide on the composition But now I need to get back to working on my thesis, and I'm about to explode ☝️🤓

As soon as I found out the movie was based on a book, I immediately rushed to read the original. I watched the movie after reading, and I was, of course, surprised by some of the differences.

Speaking for myself, I’m not a big fan of cinema, it just doesn’t resonate with me that much. I don’t know why. So it’s very hard to get me interested. But with PHM, I was really hooked

To me, two hours feels like too short a time for a story like this. It sounds obvious, of course, but for me, the time flew by in a second, and I didn’t even realize how it happened. Like yeaaah, when you’re reading something for a whole week, the plot seems slow, and in the movie, they cut some parts and replaced them with others.

It seems to me they made Stratt softer and took away that particularly sharp-tongued personality I adore so much in the book. She has quite a few scenes where she lets herself do whatever she wants, since there’s literally no one in the world more important than her, but she doesn’t get cocky, instead, she shows her seriousness and confidence in what she’s doing. Even if it’s cruel, she knows the consequences of her actions. In the movie, she never raised her voice at Grace, but when he was being restrained, she was banging on the table so hard she was screaming that he’d fly into space. That scene gives me chills.

And Rocky is way more of a goofball in the book compared to the original. It’s funny to watch how he often teases Grace, calling him stupid and annoying. I love their relationship in any form. And yes, Grace is actually much dumber and more inattentive, which makes him more relatable to the audience. In the book, he was much more self-assured and decisive

I should also mention that I watched the movie in Ukrainian and read the book in Russian, so some details might have been lost in translation

I'M SAD that they really cut down on the scene with the couch while the whole team was still alive. It’s literally discussed in Grace’s monologue that the couch at their research base belongs only to the astronauts about to embark on their journey, to “at least give them some comfort before they die,” and in the end, because of the crowd, Grace accidentally falls next to them onto the cushions. That subtle hint made me giggle really loudly

Your question also inspired me to draw Herman and myself as Eridians. I really love how they turned out 💥💥💥🐟💥💥💥

I'm sorry it took me so long to answer this question. I hope I made my thoughts clear. I highly recommend giving the book a try! I don't really understand a lot of the chemistry, physics, biology, and math topics... But it's really interesting!

A yapping about the differences between the book "Project Hail Mary" and the movie. Somehow, a two-hour movie turned into five hours way too easily....

Throughout the week of classes, I drew pictures of myself with Herman just to keep my mood up. It helped me relax after a hard day

I’ve been suffering from nervous tics for years, but over the past couple of weeks they’ve gotten so bad that I’m a nervous wreck from morning till night. Sometimes I even stutter and get tongue-tied. I need a break. A good break.

It’s my last one in all four years of studying at the academy. I still have to work on my thesis, and honestly, it’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown and that this is it, it’s all over. Stay tuned for a couple of photos from the event, even though I run a blog about my yumeship, I also want to share just my daily life 🌟
