The seasons were transitioning between the hot season into the rainy season, and the humidity was making the days miserable. Five was getting more irritable as the humidity got higher. He had never realized how short his temper as they days got more miserable, but the frequency with which he and Star were arguing was making him start to realize it. Admittedly he was the one mostly starting the arguments; Star for her part would try and simply walk away when she was ready to snap at him, but some part of Five couldn't' leave well enough alone. That was probably part of what led to their current argument.
"You just have to be right don't you?" Star screamed in his face, and he felt his anger flare.
"I am right!" He snapped back, "Just because you don't want to hear it'
"Oh my god! Here we go again!" Star cried exasperatedly, throwing her hands up in the air, before turning on him, "We Don't Have The Water To Keep Us Hydrated For A Hunting Day!"
"We don't have the rations to not go hunting!" Five shouted back, "Dolores agrees with me!"
"Of fucking course Dolores agrees with you." Star said condescendingly, as she jabbed a finger in Dolores' direction, "Dolores, is a fucking mannequin! I don't give a flying fuck, what she has to say about our predicament!"
Five reacted without thinking as his anger peaked, and slapped Star. He instantly regretted it. Star's head snapped to the side with the force of his slap and she stayed still; he couldn't tell if she was stunned or if something else was going through her mind. Everything suddenly felt too loud and too quiet all at the same time. Slowly Star turned her head back to look at him; her eye were ice cold, and her jaw was set.
"You know what⌠You do whatever you like, Five." Star said eerily calm, and walked into the make shift tent they had set up together.
Five desperately wished that he knew how to rewind like she did in this moment, so he could take back what he had done. But he didn't. Now he had to live with it. He stiffly spun on his heels and walked away from the tent. He would just go hunt by himself.
Frustration ate at Five as he trudged back into camp hours later.
He had only caught a singular rabbit that would barely feed the two of them for the night, and his head was pounding from being out in the heat for so long. He didn't see Star anywhere so he assumed she was still in the tent staying out of the sun. He dressed the rabbit and hung it so that it would be up and away from anything that would try and steal it. They would be eating it later that night so he didn't feel like taking the time to do anything else with it. He decided to test his luck with Star and headed into the tent so he could rest for a bit. He pushed the flap of the tent out of his way, so he could walk in, but froze when he saw what was inside. Star was laying on the ground one arm over her eyes, splayed out and completely naked. His brain couldn't process what was in front of him. He didn't mean for the startled whine that left him to happen, but it did, and it let Star know that he was there. She lazily lifted the arm covering her eyes and looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Everything okay?" She asked casually.
"What-" Five tried to ask but choked on his words. He tried again, "Why are you... like that?"
"It's hot as sin today, Five." Star replied and put her arm back over her eyes, "We already got pissed off with each other once today because we couldn't keep our tempers under control in this heat. I'm not gonna sit here and make myself suffer by wearing clothes when I don't have too."
He swallowed hard as he looked at her laying there. Even without clothes on there was a sheen of sweat covering her skin, and it was alarmingly distracting him. His eyes roamed her body lingering on her curves, and the supple valley of her breast. His breath was ragged, his heart was thrumming in his ears, he felt hot, and he was fairly sure that it was due to the heat outside anymore. Star lifted the arm covering her eyes and put it behind her head as she looked at him lazily.
"Are you just gonna stand there all day or?" She drifted off leaving the question in the air.
He did his best to keep his eyes on her face but failed miserably as his eyes drifted down her body, before quickly darting back up to her face. Star tilted her head as she looked at him and he saw a slow grin start to spread across her face. He hated how it made his stomach flip. He was glad that his beard covered most of his face and neck, as he could feel a blush creeping up it and onto his face.
"What's the matter?' She asked teasingly, as her free hand came to rest just below her breast catching his eye.
Five cursed himself internally as he tried to focused on her face again. She looked entirely too amused with the situation. He noticed that her free hand started lazily tracing small circles and was moving lower down her abdomen, but he forced himself to keep his eyes on her face rather than follow its pattern. She laughed, it was breathy, alluring, and made his stomach clench.
"Mmm. You've never been with a woman have you?" She asked amused.
He was too tense to answer, but he glared at her. She laughed again.
"I would offer, but it's far too hot today for me to want to do that much work."She sighed, dropping her head back revealing the glistening column of her throat.
Five felt a a flush of irritation at the implication that she would be doing all the work. He jumped, and was over her in and instant. Part of him knew he would regret jumping later with how little energy his body already had, but he didn't care in this moment. Her head snapped up and her eyes met his, he could see how blown out her irises were because of how close they were. Their breaths mingled and they say frozen for a moment before he broke the tension.
"Who said you would be doing all the work?" He asked, and he could hear the hunger in his own voice. Then he added, "I'm a fast learner."
Star leaned forward grabbing the front of his shirt, and looked him up as she spoke, "Are you now?" He nodded and tried to press closer to kiss her, but she kept him where he was by pressing her hand to his chest. "Ah ah ah." she teased, then commanded, "Take your clothes off."
He realized she wasn't going to let him lead this encounter, so he sat back on his heels and started to take his clothes off. She sat up as well and started touching his chest and abdomen as he stripped his shirt. The air around them felt hotter, even as he stripped his clothes. Star began to kiss the column of his throat and work her way down his chest, and Five felt like his head was spinning as he tried to remove the rest of his clothes. Her hands continued to traced their way down his body as he managed to get his pants off, leaving them both equally nude. He gasped as one of her hands grabbed his manhood giving it a squeeze, before she slowly started to pump her hand up and down the shaft. He groaned, his body trembling slightly at the pleasure, and put his forehead on her shoulder. He was overwhelmed and grabbed onto her hips to ground himself. She hummed and nipped at his throat while she pumped his shaft, making him gasp and moan loudly. He reached down and grabbed her hand.
"I thought you weren't doing all the work?" He asked, his voice strained.
She nuzzled into his shoulder nipping at his throat once more before replying, "You were already, ready to go. I have to get warmed up too, and the noises you make are so pretty." She purred the last part in his ear giving him a stroke, and he couldn't' help but moan even as he felt embarrassed by the words.
"I'm not pretty." He bite out. She laughed, and nipped at his ear, making him gasp.
"Handsome men make the prettiest sounds, Five." She purred, and grabbed his hand and brought it to her core.
Heat spiked in the pit of stomach as he felt how wet she was. He recalled the books he had read always said something about helping the woman prepare for penetration. He looked down and started experimentally pushing his fingers into the warmth of her core. She chuckled at him and adjusted his fingers and he blushed as he realized he had only been pushing into her folds. He pushed two fingers inside her and she hummed at him. He looked up at her face, and she was looking at him without and discomfort on her face, but it didn't look like he was doing to her what she had been doing to him. He huffed in irritation.
"What makes you feel good?" He asked. It was better to just ask than to fumble around and hope for the best. She smiled at him and gave him a kiss. He returned the kiss. He felt her adjust his hand again so his thumb was on something small; her clitoris, he realized.
"Let's start with this." She said amused, as she pulled away from the kiss.
He experimentally rubbed a circle on the bud. Star let out a small groan as he did and nodded letting him know to continue; he swallowed hard and did so. She dropped her head onto his shoulder and moaned as he rubbed small circles around the bud. He hesitantly started thrusting his fingers that were inside her. She groaned, and started kissing his neck again. He felt the heat in his stomach spike again at her sounds in his ear. He bite his lip groaning. He pushed deeper in, testing each movement against how she reacted. She whined, pressing her face into his neck when he curled his fingers. He took encouragement from her sounds, crooking his fingers again, while rubbing circles around her bud. He was gifted with a gasp that turned into a moan, and he felt gratification that he had drawn that sound from her. He sped up how fast he was thrusting his fingers.
"Fuck, Five." Star moaned into his shoulder.
He smirked to himself as she moaned his name.
He was proud that he was bringing these sounds from her.
He could feel her fluttering around his fingers, and her moans changed in pitch. He keep the speed of his fingers the same while increasing the pressure to her bud. Star's hips started to grind down on his hand, and she keened loudly. He was entranced by the look on her face, and noises she was making. She started to whine, and he realized that he had stopped moving.
"How's that for doing all the work?" He asked amused, instead of starting back up.
She glared at him, clearly annoyed. He was surprised when she didn't give him a chance to start up again, and shoved causing him to fall back. He grunted as his back hit the ground, and his heart rate spiked as she crawled on top of him. His hands moved to grip her hips, but she grabbed his hand, placing them on her chest. He felt like he couldn't breath as she grabbed him member and lined it up with her entrance.
"See how you keep that act up after this." She grinned at him wickedly as she dropped fully down on him. He gasped, and moaned as she enveloped him in her warmth. His body shook as he tried his best not to cum on the spot. He had imagined how this would feel hundreds of times, but it was better than he had ever imagined.
"Fuck." Five moaned, at the same time Star moaned, "God yes."
"Wait, wait, wait." Five pleaded as Star started to move her hips.
She groaned, but thankfully stopped.
"Please, please, I-I can't." He pleaded, "I-I'm going to cum if you-" He groaned as she clenched around him.
"Five~" Star whined, biting her bottom lip as she looked down at him.
"Please, ju-just a moment." He gasped, moving his hands to her hips, gripping tight as he tried to keep her from moving.
He gasped as she leaned down and started kissing his jaw, the movement sending jolts through his body. He moaned, his head falling back, as he tried to get control over himself. His breathing was labored as Star continued to move in little ways to touch him, kiss him, bite him.
She was driving him insane.
Five gathered his will, grabbing hold of Star and flipped them quickly, so that he was on top. She gasped, clutching onto him. He panted as he looked down at her, she was flushed and her eyes were filled with desire. He was certain that he looked the same. He leaned down kissing her, and then slowly started to move. She keened into the kiss, and he could feel her trying to move faster. He pinned her hips down with one hand. He glared at her, but she just looked back at him with need in her eyes. He groaned, because he was the one how caused that look.
He started kissing her again, while slowly thrusting in and out of her. The intimacy of it all was overwhelming to him, yet it was also thrilling. She clung to him like he was her only life line, as they both were drowning in each other. He moaned as he felt her blunt nails dragged down his back, and thrusted harder, earning a moan from the woman below him. He bit his lip, thrusting faster with every moan and gasp.
"Fuck, Five. Please. I-I need-"Star moaned, and he felt her reach down and start rubbing circles on her clit.
He gasped as he felt her clenching around him, and his head felt like it was spinning. He could feel his pace getting sloppy as he was getting closer to the edge. Star dug her heals into his back, trying her best to pull him in closer while she moaning louder. He couldn't help the whine that came from him as he stilled inside her. She felt like she was milking him for everything he was worth. She cried out clinging to him as she shook.
He slumped down exhausted. He gasped as he felt her spasm every now and again. The two of them laid there on the ground for a while as they caught their breath. After a while he felt Star start kissing at his shoulder.
He laughed softly, and asked, "You aren't ready for round two already are you?"
"Mmm I wouldn't mind more rounds with you." Star chuckled, as her hands started tracing lined up and down his back.

"They went that way!" a voice shouted, as boots stomped past where two small figures were hiding.
One of the small figures leaned out of their hiding spot, checking how far the patrol group had gone. As they leaned out of the shadows one could see that the figure was a thin 15 to 16 years old, with sharp eyes. They looked back and nodded at the other figure still hiding in the shadows. The two ran quietly from their hiding spot in the opposite direction of the patrol that had past them. The second figure was also a teen that looked to be around the same age as the first with a similar build if not a little shorter. Both of the teens had shaved heads, hollow eyes, and were wearing matching white shirt and pants that were covered in stains.
The two ran as fast and far as they were able to before they had to stop to catch their breath. The shorter of the two tugged the other one back into the shadows, just as headlights swung past where they had been standing. The taller teen looked gratefully at the shorter one, nodding as they waited for the new patrol to pass. After several minutes the taller teen moved to step out of the shadows, but the shorter one yanked them back. The taller teen looked back at the shorter one confused. The shorted one signed sharply one word; Sniper.
The taller one looked horrified and looked around trying to find the sniper that the shorter one was warning about.
They couldn't see anything with how dark it was.
They turned back towards the shorter teen with a frustrated look on their face. They trusted the shorter teem, as they had already stopped the two of them from getting caught several times, but it was frustrating having to take their word rather than being able to find the threat themself. The taller teen had noticed that the shorter one was looking progressively more exhausted as they ran from their captors, and not in a way that seemed normal for how much the two had ran. They had heard that the shorter teen had some kind of precognition, and they wondered if using their power so much was starting to wear them out. Unfortunately until the two were somewhere safe there was no way to give the shorter teen a break.
'Safe?' the taller teen signed their question to the shorter one.
The shorter teen was chewing on their bottom lip as they contemplated the question. They nodded, but they didn't seem as sure of the answer as the taller one would like. The taller teen would just have to trust that the shorter one wouldn't lead them astray. It wasn't like they could stay where they were for much longer; all it would take was one light passing over them and they would be easily spotted.
The two started running again, sticking to the shadows as much as they could.
They ran for what felt like ages before the shorter teen yanked the taller one behind a dumpster in the alley way they were in. The taller teen felt their heart jump into their throat, as they crouched behind the dumpster. What had the other teen seen? They waited for a moment then a door slammed open and two people walked out carrying another by their armpits. The door banged off the wall and slammed back into the frame, but it didn't' latch, it bounced and stayed partially open. The taller teens heart skipped a beat, as they realized the shorter one had seen an opportunity for them to hide with out having to run soon after. The two waited, and watched as the adults who had came out of the door carry the unconscious person to the end of the alley. They stopped once they were at the end and waited. After a few minutes a car pulled up and the two threw the other person in the trunk of the car before getting in the back themselves.
The taller teen started to feel nervous as they watched the car drive off. What if these people found out that the two of them had witnessed what just happened. Whatever it was didn't seem⌠legal. They didn't have time to think about it as the shorter teen made their way for the door. The taller teen cursed under their breath, but followed after. They looked around as they made it to the door while the shorter teen opened the door slowly to avoid making noise. The shorter one slipped inside once the door was open enough, and the taller teen followed after unwillingly.
The first thing the taller teen noticed once they were inside was the sharp metallic smell of blood. Inside was pitch black so they couldn't see anything, but the smell was undeniable, and it made the taller teen anxious. Was it really safe for the two of them to be here? The shorter teen grabbed the taller ones hand and continued to make their way inside. The taller teen swallowed hard as they made their way farther into the building. All they could do was hope the shorter teen knew what they were doing. After several minutes of creeping around the dark halls, the shorter teen pushed open a door that the taller teen hadn't even noticed. Walking in the taller teen realized that it was a supply closet that looked like it hadn't seen use in years. There was rows of shelves, stacked with old cleaning products. The shorter teen lead the pair to the back of the middle row, behind some boxes.
The taller teen started to relax as they settled down on the dusty ground.
Maybe this wasn't such a bad ideaâŚ
After all the two of them needed rest.
The taller teen glanced at the shorter teen, and from what little they could see in the darkness it looked like they were ready to pass out. The shorter teen was leaning heavily on the taller teens shoulder, their eyes were already starting to close, and their breathing was starting to get deeper. They must have exhausted themself from using their power so much in one night. The taller teen couldn't fault them for falling asleep so fast, bu they didn't think they would be able to do the same. They were still on edge, worried that someone would find the two of them, so they stayed up and kept watch.
They weren't sure when they had fallen asleep, but the taller teen jolted awake when they realized that they had. They felt a pat on their chest, so they turned and saw the shorter teen who was till half-asleep lazily patting their chest. The taller teen felt amused as they realized the shorter teen was trying to comfort them, even though they were still exhausted. They grabbed the shorter teens hand and squeezed, letting them know that they were alright. The shorter teen went boneless against them and fell back asleep.
The taller teen looked around the dusty storage room, and they felt something that they couldn't remember ever feeling⌠Hope.
They might actually get away from the scientist, from the government, from all the people who hurt them.
"What name do you think you would want?" The shorter teen asked, as they looked up at the sky.
The night sky was beautiful. It was the first time the taller teen could ever remember looking at it. They passed their hand through the grass around them. The hill they were sitting on was grassy, over grown, trees spread out here and there, and full of flowers. It was the best thing the taller teen had ever seen. The feeling of the grass under them was something they thought they would never feel or see before the break out happened.
The taller teen laughed, "Names? Good lord, I haven't thought of names in years."
The shorter teen snorted, and said, "Fair, but I doubt either of us wanna use the numbers."
The taller teens face scrunched up in disgust. They hated the idea of their companion referring to them by the numbers that the scientist had referred to them as. They were pretty sure they might attack the other teen if they heard them say 068921. The numbers brought them back to bad memories.
"What about you? Any name on your mind?" The taller teen asked.
The shorter teen paused, considering the question, before responding, "Star."
The taller teen leaned forwards looking at the shorter teen and asked, "Star? Why Star?"
The shorter teen smiled as they kept staring at the sky, and said, "Because the stars were always something I dreamed about seeing once we got out. Now we are here and⌠they are beautiful." The shorter teen, Star, looked at the taller one and they could see the joy in their eyes.
The taller teen smiled at Star.
They looked around and thought on the question. They liked Star's reason for their name. They thought about what they had dreamed of seeing when they were trapped. They recalled dreams of trees, forest, nature. They had always wondered if they were as big as the books described, as majestic as they imagined them to be.
"Leaf." The taller teen finally said, with a smile.
Star smiled at them and said, "Leaf⌠I like it."
Mary stumbled into the kitchen and made her way over to the fridge and reached in for a cold drink. She paused as she squinted at the contents of the fridge. She swore she had more soda left than that and Leaf wasn't one to steal. Had she drank one while she was high? She didn't remember seeing the can in her room, but it was possible.
She shrugged to herself and went back to her room.
It was a mess, but she couldn't bring herself to care. The only other person who ever came in her room anymore was Klaus, and he always said he had stayed in far worse. Mary would pointedly ignored the sad looks that Ben would shoot her way, and enjoy her time with Klaus while he was there.
She did clean up every now and again, when the mess made her feel too much like she was a part of the garbage.
She was, but she could pretend.
Leaf hadn't been home in a while. She thought they might have told her that they were going to go do a construction job somewhere a bit away, but that also could have just been a weird dream. The house was all her's until Leaf came home, or maybe Klaus would drop by. She would much prefer if Klaus dropped by. It had been a while since she had last seen him, and she really was starting to miss him.
She stopped her thought as she heard a strange sound, ,like a whoosh and a light thump.
It came from upstairs.
If she wasn't the only person in the house, she might have thought it was Leaf. She was the only one though, and now she was curious what had made that sound. She started to make her way towards the stairs slowly, her eyes locked on the top of the stairs as if she would see what made the sound there. She just made it to the bottom of the stairs reaching out for the rails when a loud voice from behind her made her scream and jump.
"Mary! I just saw a child teleport into the room upstairs!" Came Klaus' excited voice as he tumbled out of her room, never one to come through the front door.
Mary spun on her heels shushing Klaus, pointing upstairs as she did. Klaus' face fell into a face of realization, and he nodded as he put his finger to his own lips. He crept up next to Mary, and the two of them slowly made their way up the stairs. Mary indicated to Klaus to keep quiet, as she slowly started to open the doors to the top floor bedrooms.
They didn't find anything in the first three bedroom then they saw Ben waiting for them in the last bedroom with his arms crossed as he leaned against the window. He shook his head as they both crept in and started to look around.
"They're already gone." Ben said, making them jump.
"What." Klaus hissed at his brother.
"They left when you two made all that noise downstairs, but you can check the closet." Ben said, nodding his head towards said closet.
Mary and Klaus looked at each other before scrambling their way over to the closet, and opening it. Mary was surprised to see several soda cans tucked into a corner along with wrappers from snacks that she didn't even realize she was missing anything from. There was a little make-shift bed made out of sheets on the floor and a stolen pillow in the opposite corner to the trash.
Just how long had this kid been sleeping in this closet without Mary knowing? Does Leaf know about this?
"Haha. Squatters have a squatter." Klaus laughed.
Mary couldn't help but snort, because it really was ridiculous. Klaus said it was a kid though?
âŚ
Wait.
"You said they teleported in here?" Mary asked incredulously as she turned to Klaus.
"Oh yeah. Just, Whoosh! One moment in the trees outside, then the next I see em in the window upstairs." Klaus said, as he sat back on his behind, pulling out a joint as he did. "It's weird. It looked just like the way my brother used to do it, but they didn't look anything like my brother..."
Mary gave Klaus a sympathetic look. He didn't talk about his missing brother often but when he did, she could tell that it still affected him no matter how much he tried to pretend it didn't. She reached out and squeezed his hand. He pulled away and stood up quickly, and Mary frowned. He always did that when she tried to comfort him. Always ran away and tried to change the subject.
"So, your little squatter's been staying here a while it seems."
"I barely even notice." Mary said, letting him have his distraction.
"You noticed something?" Ben asked, laughing bitterly, clearly surprised.
Mary shot him a quick glare, before she looked back in the closet.
"I thought my soda was going weirdly fast, but I couldn't figure out why." She said, shrugging as she did.
"You would think it would be the snacks you would have noticed." Ben muttered to himself.
"What's that supposed to mean." Mary snapped at Ben.
"When was the last time you were sober?" Ben asked instead of answering.
"What does that have to do with anything?"
Ben rolled his eyes at Mary's answer and said, "Don't worry about it. At least the kid's managing to eat something."
Mary felt irritated by Ben's comment, but she knew he wouldn't answer her any further. He had been so much pricklier with her since she started using Klaus' method of keeping the hallucinations away... Ghost... Whatever. It was like he was irritated with her about something constantly. It was like dealing with Leaf, but at least Ben would still talk to her.
"Speaking of snacks, I'm starving." Klaus whined and he tugged Mary into a standing position. "Let's go downstairs and get something to eat. Party popper here can stay and watch for the kid."
Ben rolled his eye at the comment, but didn't move from his spot as the two started to leave.
He stayed where he was as they both left, and shook his head. Both of them were wasting their life away trying to avoid a part of who they were. He had liked Mary, at first. She had been nice, and would chat with him. He thought maybe she could show Klaus that things weren't that bad with his power, so that he would finally drag himself out of the gutter.
How wrong he had been.
Watching his brother drag Mary down with him, infuriated Ben to no end. They both had so much potential, had so much life ahead of them, and they would rather wallow in the gutter. It was insulting. He felt bad for Leaf. He knew how hard it was to watch a loved one go down this path on their own, but to watch someone else lead them down that path? That had to be terrible.
He looked out the window he was leaning against and could just make out the child hiding among the trees. He probably would have missed them if he wasn't actively looking for them, and already knew they were there. They looked like they might have made a make-shift shelter that they have camouflaged in the foliage.
Ben decided to go check it out, and made his was over.
He looked around, as he was next to the make-shift shelter. It was a lean-to that had been covered in fallen branches that still had their leaves on them. He noticed now that he was closer that the kid had a small fire going that was dug into the ground to keep it hidden from sight. He crouched down and looked at the kid.
It was a young girl around 12 years old if Ben had to guess. Her hair was short, it almost looked like it was growing out from a buzz cut. She was wearing baggy clothing that were too big for her. She probably stole it from someone's laundry if Ben had to guess. He was concerned when he realized that she wasn't wearing any shoes with how cold out it was. He couldn't do anything to help her, and the only people who could hear him were high as kites right now. He sighed and sat down next to her even though she had no clue he was there, and waited to see what she would do.
She looked irritated as she put more wood in her fire pit.
"Stupid fuckin' idiot ruining perfectly good fuckin'..." He heard her muttering to herself as she stoked the fire.
He laughed. Kid had a mouth.
"Who let you go around talking like that?" He asked, the laugh still in his voice.
She didn't reply. He didn't expect she would. She sighed to herself.
"Maybe the druggie will forget about it by tonight..." She muttered to herself.
"Geeze kid you've got some harsh language for a 12 year old." Ben said.
There was a rustling in the bushes off to their side and Ben was caught off guard when the girl suddenly threw a knife, and he heard an animal let out a broken squeak. She got up and carefully made her way over to the bushes. He saw her pull out a squirrel out along with the knife that she had thrown. She turned the squirrel over in her hands assessing it. It was pretty small, and wouldn't give her much of anything to eat by Ben's guess. Still she shrugged sitting down, and started to skin it and dress it.
Ben was curious why someone her age seemed to know all these survival tricks and tips. Granted he knew all these things at her age too, but his up bringing wasn't exactly what one would call normal.
"Kids in the room again."
Mary and Klaus jumped away from each other cursing, as Ben suddenly spoke scaring the two out of the start of any activities they may or may not have been heading towards.
"You're fucking with us." Klaus said irritably.
"Nope." Ben said cheekily.
"Ugh!" Klaus groaned over dramatically.
"How do we know we won't just scare them off again?" Mary asked, dragging her hand down her face.
"Well I did wait to tell you guys till she was asleep, so just don't be loud idiots again, and you should be find." Ben said as he looked at his fingernails.
Mary sent Klaus an unimpressed look at his brothers rude comment and he rolled his eyes and hopped onto his feet trying to shoving Ben over as he did. Mary pushed herself to her feet, and followed after Klaus. The two of them made their way quietly upstairs, to the bedroom that they had found the stuff in earlier.
"Oh yeah they have a knife, and know how to use it."
Mary covered Klaus' mouth while Klaus covered her mouth as they both tried to not let out a shout at Ben's sudden words in the quiet of the room. They both glare at Ben, who looks positively amused. Klaus gave him the double bird, and Ben just stuck his tongue out at Klaus in return.
He couldn't have warned them about the knife earlier?
Mary decided to creep closer since she couldn't stay dead, and open the closet door slowly. At least she wanted to open it slowly, but instead the door busted open from the inside, and she was suddenly facing Klaus and Ben with a knife to her throat. Both of them looked scared, and Mary realized that this might not have been a good idea. Mary pettily thought it served Ben right for being a little shit, instead of actually giving them fair warning ahead of time.
She was confused when the knife was removed from her throat. She didn't have much time to think on it, as she was thrown at Klaus. She heard the whooshing sound that she heard earlier that day, and that Klaus had described. She turned and saw that the child was gone.
"Wait!" She shouted even though they were gone.
When nothing happened Mary groaned and flopped onto Klaus.
The previous meeting ended up being the first of many times that Mary would try and fail to get the girl to talk to her. She was surprised that the girl didn't stop coming into the house. She didn't even change where she was staying. Klaus had left after the first time that they tried to talk to the girl. He said children weren't his thing, and that he would see Mary later. Mary could understand that, and honestly children weren't her thing either, but there was something about this girl that made Mary keep trying to talk to her.
She wasn't ready to admit to herself that that thing, was that this girl looked eerily like Star.
That was something to deal with later.
She did find herself getting closer and closer to being able to talk to the girl though. Sometimes she would hesitate before she would teleport away. There was times where Mary would curse herself because she had been so close to catching the girl for a second, so maybe she could just tell her that she just wanted to talk. Sometimes she felt suspicious of how close she was to catching the girl because it seemed like the girl would know exactly what Mary was about to do, just like Star used to when she slide back.
This night was another attempt to talk to the girl.
Mary crept up the stairs quietly. She had even made sure she was sober for this, so she didn't make a bunch of noise without realizing it because she was impaired. She realized too late that, that was what had let the girl know she was coming the first several times she tried to sneak up to talk to her. She got to the door, and quietly opened it only to be surprised to see the girl sitting on the bed, waiting for her.
"You still make way too much noise to ever sneak up on someone effectively."
It was the first thing the girl ever said to her, and she felt like her breath had been taken away.
Not only did she look like Star, she sounded like her too?
This was just cruel.
"What?" was all Mary could think to say as she got over her shock.
The girl looked at her and raised her eyebrows, as if questioning if she has to really repeat herself. It was so familiar. It was something Star used to do all the time when Mary's auditory processing wasn't working the best.
"What do you mean I make too much noise?" Mary asked, trying to get over the similarities.
"There is at least three squeaky steps on the stairs that you didn't avoid when coming up here. Walking through the middle of the hallway on a second floor in an older house like this always makes creeks. There also seems to be a floorboard that sticks up that you always trip over. I would honestly think you would remember that floorboard by now, sober or not with how many times you have nearly ate shit to it." The girl listed off. Her feet, that were hanging off the bed, started to swing back and forth as she continued on.
Mary couldn't help but stare at the girl as she told her all of this. She hadn't even realized that the house was that noisy. Or maybe she hadn't thought about how noisy the house was since she had gotten used to it. Either way it was pretty detrimental to try to sneak up on someone.
The girl scrubbed her hand through her hair, what little of it she had, and coughed awkwardly before asking, "Why are you so desperate to talk to me? Wouldn't you rather ignore that I exist, and keep going on your benders with that idiot from the other day?"
Rude.
"That idiot is my- uh- we're- uhh." Mary tried to defend Klaus only to realize she had no clue what her relationship with Klaus was.
"Oof. That's something for you to try and deal with later and him to 100% avoid." The kid said with an amused look.
"Hey! You don't know that he'll avoid it! You don't even know him!" Mary said irritated.
"Dude is willing to steal money from a homeless kid for his fix, and pretend not to recognize 'em later. He's very conflict avoidant." The girl said crossing her arms as she did.
"He stole your money?" Mary asked dumbfounded.
The kid snorted at the question.
"A while ago yeah. I followed him to try, and find a way to maybe get my money back, or get something of equal value, and he led me to this place. Been crashing here when the weathers too much ever since." The kid admitted.
Mary still wasn't sure how she convinced the kid to stay in the house, but she did it. Granted now that she thought about it, maybe the kid was tired of running so much, and wasn't that willing to put up a fight. She was still staying in the room she had been camping out in. Getting her to stop sleeping in the closet was turning out to be more of a chore than Mary thought it would be.
There was a perfectly good bed right. There!
The kid would not stop sleeping in the closet.
Mary didn't know what to do.
She ended up just admitting defeat on that front.
She hadn't gotten a name from the kid yet. Though, it wasn't so much that the kid didn't want to give a name. They kept telling her that they didn't remember their name. Whenever she asked what they meant by that the kid would just start telling her how their memories were all fuzzy, and not right before they would drift off looking at the wall as if they were trying to put the pieces together.
It was a little concerning, but they did seem to be making some progress.
If Mary just talked to the kid like normal, sometimes they would say something automatically in response to what she said. It was how Mary found out that the kid could also slide back like Star could. They had casually said something about not worrying about people trying to gun them down because they would just slide back and catch them off guard like they always did. Mary was horrified by that conversation. She had accidentally ended it by asking who would try and gun a kid down and that made the kid realize they didn't know who would.
Keeping a conversation going where she got new information from the kid was hard. She had to make sure to only prompt further with things that the kid could reasonably know. The problem was knowing what the kid reasonably knew at this point. Sometimes the kid would just go on and on and other times the kid would stop dead in the conversation and just get that confused look that said they didn't know why they said what they said.
It was frustrating.
She had only been dealing with the kid for about two weeks now, and she still was losing her mind a little over not being able to figure out how to get info out of her. She honestly could only imagine how the kid herself felt, since it was her own brain that was keeping this information from her, and she didn't seem to know any better than Mary how to get the information out of it.
Mary barely even reacted when the kid teleported into the kitchen, and started to rummage through the fridge. It was normal at this point. The kid told her that teleporting helped keep her energy levels down, so she wasn't bouncing off the walls, so if this was the trade-off for not having a kid that would drive her insane, she would take it. She was slightly caught off guard when the front door opened up, and she saw Leaf walk through. He'd been gone so long she thought he might not be coming back.
She was even more caught off guard when the kid suddenly threw something at Leaf while shouting, "Ha-yup!"
Leaf caught the thing that was thrown at them, and looked incredibly confused at the bottle of orange juice in her hand. The kid didn't even seem to think about what they had just done, and went back to pulling her food out of the fridge, taking it to the counter. Mary sat at the table and looked between the two, gaping like a fish. She had no clue how to explain this to Leaf.
"What the fuck?" Leaf exclaimed finally.
That was probably fair.
"Drink your vitamin C cuz." the kid said casually, as she started to make herself a quesadilla.
Mary and Leaf were frozen. That was something that Star used to say to Leaf. Now that Mary thought about it, throwing the juice at Leaf was also something Star used to do, and this kid did it all so casually, without thinking about it.
"This ain't fucking funny." Leaf said, glaring at Mary.
Mary put her hands up.
"I swear I'm not doing anything!" Mary said.
"She's too fucked up by her withdraw symptoms to be doing anything." the kid said, turning to face the adults, "Why are we mad?"
"Withdraw?" Leaf asked incredulously.
"Yeah, threw all the shit out like⌠two weeks ago. Well except the alcohol but, she hasn't touched it." The kid replied, and leaped up to sit on the counter. "Still manages to trip on the same damn floorboard every time she comes upstairs though."
Mary flushed. She hadn't been planning on telling Leaf until she was clear of her withdraw symptoms. Granted she hadn't been sure she would even return let alone talk to her.
Leaf was looking between Mary and the kid now.
"I haven't even been gone that long." They said.
"You've been gone a while now." Mary said quietly.
"I've been gone for 2 months! I've taken longer jobs! How the hell did I leave, and come back to you with some kid who looks like Star, and your fucking sober?" Leaf exclaimed, looking around confused.
"Star?" The kid repeated with the far-off sound in she got in voice when something was just on the edge of her memory.
"Listen! A lot happened! She had been hiding upstairs in the closet for months!" Mary tried to explain, "Klaus saw her when he-"
"Oh god." Leaf groaned at the mention of Klaus.
"Shut up!" Mary snapped, "Klaus saw her teleport into the house, and we tried to talk to her, and then it took a while, but I convinced her to stop running away and staying in the woods!"
"You were living in the woods!?" Leaf asked the kid incredulously.
"Lived worse places." the kid replied immediately without a thought. Then she looked dead at Leaf and said one word, "Leaf."
Mary and Leaf stopped and looked at the kid. Mary had never told the kid about Leaf, and no one had said their name yet.
"How did you..."Mary slowly started to ask.
"You look like shit. Smell like it too. Honestly you think those shitty as jobs you take on would throw you out when you start to smell like your friend's breath man." The kid rattled on not paying attention to either of their expressions as she jumped off the counter, and grabbed her food.
Mary couldn't even blame Leaf for the pained whine that she heard come from her.
"Star?" Leaf asked so, so hesitantly.
"God yeah!"The kid exclaimed, knocking on the side of her head, "I can't believe I forgot my name! Can you believe that Leaf? Fuckin' dumbass I am." the kid said amused, shaking their head as they spoke. "Need this memory shit to fuck off."
The silence after those words was deafening.
Turns out Leaf could make Star remember more than Mary could.
No surprises there.
They still didn't have an answer as to why Star was now a kid. Anytime they tried to ask her she why would start rambling about "time dilation" and "getting his damn calculations wrong." They still didn't know who "he" was. All though apparently Star had "his" journal, but would not let either of them look at it. She was incredibly protective of the thing, and kept it on her at all times. Mary had a feeling that Star was lying, when she said she couldn't remember his name. The few times they had asked her, she had a pained look on her face before saying that she didn't remember. Both Leaf and Mary decided it wasn't worth pushing.
Star would still say some of the most off the wall shit that would throw Leaf and Mary for a loop as they started to trigger more and more of her memory. Like when she told them the other day, she was glad she could eat real food again instead of scrounging for cockroaches or other bugs. When asked why the hell she would eat the bugs she just casually replied that the game was still too low in population to hunt regularly in the apocalypse.
The worst part was honestly Star's nightmares.
Neither Leaf nor Mary could calm Star down fully when she woke up from her nightmares. She would always just start calling out the number five, and then would cling to whoever managed to get to her first. There were always tears. She said she could never remember the dreams. Sometimes she would push them away, and accuse them of not being real. It always hurt when she did that.
Leaf caught themself staring at Star, as she laughed at Mary, who failed to catch her again in their weird game of tag . It was so strange seeing his cousin, so young again. They remembered only catching glances of her at this age because their cells were near each other. She certainly wasn't allowed to have her hair to her shoulders like it was now, but then again it had been about a year since Mary had found her upstairs. She remembered seeing that it was only just growing out from the close shave that they would have had at her age when she first got home.
It was weirdly nice to see her get to have this fun as a child where they never got to.
They were concerned when Star stopped hopping around Mary, and doubled over.
"Are you okay!?" Leaf asked rushing to Star's side. She heard Mary echo the same question on the other side of Star.
"I don't know." Star said with a pinched voice, "My stomach suddenly feels like someone is stabbing me in the gut and twisting the knife, but it's also on fire."
"The knife?"
"My stomach."
Leaf was about to panic. How were they going to take care of this? They couldn't' afford to take her to the hospital. They didn't even legally exist. Getting a doctor to look at her would be nearly impossible and-
"Uh. Is that blood?" Mary asked looking at Star's leg.
Both Star and Leaf looked down and had a look of horror at the sight of the blood and where it was coming from.
"No! No! No!" Star shouted. "They removed that! They removed any ability of that from all of us!"
"...when we were 13."Leaf said quietly.
Star looked at him in horror.
"You did look 12 when you showed up..." Mary said slowly.
Star started cursing up a storm as the realization fully hit her.
"I'm going to beat that stupid mother fucker's ass! Not only did his stupid calculations make me a fucking 12-year-old, but now he's going to make me go through this for the rest of my life? Ahhh! Good for nothing god damn calculations! First he disappears! Now this! He just had to go and do shit his way!" Star ranted.
"Jeez the way you rant about this guy you would think you two were married." Leaf joked.
"We are!" Star snapped.
Mary and Leaf looked at each other in surprise.
"I'm still bleeding!" Star shouted quickly changing the subject, and grabbed Mary as she stormed to the bathroom.
"Wha-bu-hu! Why am I coming with you!?" Mary asked incredulously.
"I've never done this before and you are gonna explain this shit to me while I wash this off!" Star demanded as she slammed the bathroom door shut behind them.
Mary and Leaf were not ready for how hard puberty hit Star.
Her hips grew in first, then her appetite followed soon after. If it weren't for the fact that Star was willing to hunt her own food, then she would be eating them out of house and home with how much she ate now. It was all a bit much for the two of them as they realized they would have to deal with her growing.
Leaf realized only now that the reason the both of them always looked so androgynous was because the growth hormones for their genders were stomped out by the government. He hadn't really thought Star would look any different growing up, even with her reproductive organs intact. Her face didn't change that much. Her voice hadn't changed that much. Everything was all just slight changes, and they made Leaf mildly uncomfortable, because Star did and didn't look like how she remembered them.
Mary wasn't sure how to deal with the fact that she was watching her cousin friend that had helped her get to her feet, and away from her parents have to physically grow up, and fight for who they were mentally.
It didn't help Mary, that since she had decided to quit almost all of the party drugs and shit, Klaus hadn't been coming by as much anymore...
She would still smoke pot, and drink every now and again, especially when Klaus was there, but she had made a house rule that nothing harder than weed could be in the house anymore. Klaus seemed to follow that rule, but mostly because he just stopped showing up much after she told him that. She had tried to explain to him, that while it helped her not see the ghost, she had never been more depressed. Leaf wouldn't talk to her, and ignored her for months on end, and Klaus himself only showed up every now and again then wouldn't even stay for that long. She felt so lonely, and no one was there to help her with that. Then Star showed up, and she realized that she couldn't be that fucked up around a kid. Even if that kid actually was her cousin friend who was randomly 12 years old again.
Klaus didn't seem to care about any of that.
It really hurt. She swore that they had something. She was doing her best to not let it bother her, but every time Klaus showed back up she always just wanted to fall into whatever he wanted to do. It was hard to stop herself.
Star thought she was going to lose her mind with how much her body was changing with her second puberty; even more with how hard her own mind fought her to get her own memories back. She felt like a stranger in her own body at this point. Her hips were too wide. She had breast growing in, and that made her severely uncomfortable. Her period would knock her to the ground with painful cramps. Anytime she tried to recall something her head hurt, and things were fuzzy. She would recall things at random times when she wasn't even trying to, and it would make the conversation awkward. Then there was the nightmares. Nothing she did stopped them. She could sleep with Leaf. She could sleep with Mary, She could sleep alone. It didn't matter she was going to have the nightmares. She hated it. She just wanted to go back to how she was.
She knew her memory had something to do with the time dilation affecting her because her husband did some kind of calculations wrong, and now she was stuck like this. The only thing Star couldn't figure is why she wouldn't just slide back? Why didn't she just slide back now to before the dilation? Something told her it wasn't a good idea... There was also an incredibly selfish part of her that didn't want to leave her family. She thought she had lost them for years maybe just maybe she wanted to take the time she had now to spend it with them.
If only she didn't also desperately miss him.
Star laid on the roof staring at the night sky, picking out constellations that she could barely make out through the light pollution. Her chest felt heavy as she felt memories of looking at the stars with someone else. The more she did little things like this the more little memories would tickle at the back of her mind. It would always make her feel lonely because he was missing, but she kept doing it hoping that she could remember more of their time together.
She barely looked away from the sky when she heard Leaf pull themself onto the roof with a grunt.
"Up here again?" they asked.
"It's calm up here." Star lied.
Leaf knew it was a lie, but he didn't call her out on it.
"Mind if I join you?" Leaf asked.
"You're always welcome Leaf." Star said warmly, looking at her with a small smile. It was the best she could muster right now.
Leaf carefully made their way over to Star's side and laid down next to her without any other words. They both stayed there in comfortable silence the only noise being the frogs and bugs. Star did feel a little less lonely with Leaf there but there was still a loneliness that sat heavy in her chest.
"What was he like?"
Star snorted and looked at Leaf who was purposefully not looking at Star. She sighed and looked back at the sky herself and thought about what she could remember.
"Stubborn as a fuckin' mule. Smart as hell. Reliable. Loyal. So loving, no matter how much he doesn't want others to know it." Star started to list, "God he loved his family so much... It was something we bonded over. We both missed our families so much, and wanted to get back to them so bad. He was always looking for ways for us to get back to save his family."
Star could feel the weight in her chest lightening a little as she remembered why she loved her other half so much.
"He taught me how to dance."
Leaf laughed at that.
"That must have driven him crazy."
"Hey! I wasn't that bad!" Star defended, and punched Leaf's shoulder before laying back down.
"... He proposed on accident." Star laughed as the memory resurfaced. "His face was so funny, when he realized what he had done. He apparently had this whole big idea of how he was going to pop the question, and instead we had found a working vinyl player with intact records, and had drank the better half of a bottle of wine as we danced the night away when he just asked with the softest smile on his face."
Star smiled softly to herself, bringing her left hand up in front of her face as she did, recalling the simple wedding band that he had found her.
"You sound like you really love him." Leaf said drawing her out of the memory.
"I-I miss him so much." Star admitted her voice cracking as she did.
Leaf reached over and pulled Star into a hug. Star let him. Neither of them said anything, and no one mentioned anything about if Star cried into Leaf's shoulder.
Star was starting to go stir crazy. Doing nothing but resting for the last few weeks had her buzzing with energy. This had been the longest she had ever gone without using her power, but there was no reason to rewind here. The man, Five as she had come to know him, was insistent that she stay on what was basically bed reset until she was fully healed because they didn't have access to doctors. It made sense. Frustratingly it made sense, but god she was going crazy staying in one place not doing anything. Five wouldn't even really talk to her all that much preferring the damn mannequin over herself. Dolores she had been told.
"Here." Five said shoving a bottle in Star's hands. More alcohol.
She sniffed it and wrinkled her nose. It smelled awful and made her eyes water.
"It's not supposed to smell good." Five remarked snidely as he went to go sit next to Dolores.
Star rolled her eyes and held her breath as she took a large swig. She immediately regretted it. It burned worse than any alcohol that she had ever drank before ever had and made her want to retch.
"Oh god what is that." Star gasped as the held the bottle away from herself.
"Moonshine." Five replied as he teleported over to her and grabbed the bottle. "Home made from the looks of where I found it."
"Are you-" Her stomach lurched, and she had to stop herself from throwing up. "Are you sure they made it right?"
Five looked concerned as he sniffed the alcohol himself, his face wrinkling as he did.
"Shit."
Star felt annoyed, but decided that this was the perfect time to let off some of her energy, and slide back to right before Five showed up with the bottle. She sighed leaning her head back as her chest stopped buzzing so much and her body no longer felt like revolting against her. She was shocked when Five teleported directly next to her and grabbed her shirt. He hadn't done that last time.
"What did you do." He demanded as if he knew something had happened.
"Wh-What?" She asked surprised.
People don't remember when she rewinds. Everything that happened technically never happened anywhere, but Star's memory. Why was Five acting different? Why was he acting like he knew something?
"You did something." He accused.
"You shouldn't remember that. It didn't happen. H-How are you?" She asked confused.
Five suddenly let go of her shirt and stood up straight. He looked at her with a unreadable expression.
"Five-"
"How far?"
"What?"
"How far back can you go?"
"I- I only like to go back a week at the farthest beca-"
"How far back can you go!" Five exploded.
Star hadn't seen him like this.
It scared her.
"Something messes with my power here, so I can only go as far back as when I landed here." She admitted, shrinking away from him.
He let out a frustrated yell as he pulled at his hair, turning away from her and cursing in what sounded like Greek and kicked one of the books on the ground sending it flying into the opposite wall.
"What do you mean something is messing with your power?"
"I-I don't know every time I tried to go further back I kept getting bounced back, like-like something was in the way."
He started pacing back and forth muttering to himself, as if he was trying to figure something out.
"You didn't jump." He said to her suddenly.
"I- What? Jump? Why would I jump?" Star asked confused.
"Jump! Jump through time! You didn't jump! I can't remember it very well but I remember that!" Five spat back frustrated leaning over her like it would get the idea through to her.
"Why would I jump! Jumping sounds messy! It sounds like it would just result in ripples that I don't want!" Star replied, just as frustrated as she looked up at him.
"You-" He started angrily then cut himself off as he seemed to realize what she was saying, "-don't jump?" He asked confused as he leaned away as he did.
"Dear god, he gets it." Star said sarcastically. He looked offended but didn't say anything in reply.
He was quiet as he looked Star over as if he was actually seeing her for the first time. He still didn't say anything by the time he turned away, and went to his usual seat putting his head in his hands. She had no clue what the whole frustrating interaction had been about when she suddenly heard him start to cry softly. She felt wildly unprepared to deal with a crying Five and she found herself looking around for help.
There was none to be found.
"Uh Five?" She tried softly.
He started shaking his head and roughly buried his hands in his hair as his crying became more ragged. Sobs started to rack his body. Star still didn't know what to do but she couldn't just leave him to this. She pushed herself up gently and slowly made her way over to his side. She made sure her footsteps made some noise so she didn't catch him off guard. She sat down next to him and she saw him tense. She waited for a moment before she reached out and tentatively pulled him into a hug. For a moment the two of them just sat the in tense silence then Five decided to lean into the hug and sobbed.
"I thought I finally found a way back home." He admitted between sobs. "A way back to my family."
Star's heart stung at those words because she would do anything to get back to her family, and she had only been here a few weeks. She couldn't imagine being here as long as Five had and having someone like her show up to give a false hope, whether she meant to or not, only for it to be quickly dashed. She would probably react just as badly as he had.
She said nothing, but pulled him closer and let him continue to cry.
Five curled in on himself, and Star could feel the sobs violently racking through his body. She tucked his head under her chin and started to rub his back. She vaguely recalled a kinder doctor doing something similar for her when she little and it helped calm her down. It had helped Leaf when she had done it for them. Maybe it would help Five, so she held him rubbing his back silently. His sobs slowly decreased, until he was left hiccuping. Even when the cry seemed to have stoped he didn't pull away form Star.
They ended up falling asleep like that. Her ribs did not thank her for sleeping in that position. Five was doing his best to pretend the whole thing hadn't happened. He didn't acknowledge Star when they woke up the next day, outside of giving her a whole bottle of whisky that he apparently had stored away. She assumed that he had been wanting to save it for a special occasion, and tried to give it back to him, but he wouldn't hear it. She wouldn't press him, if he didn't want to talk about it. What happened could stay in the past until he decided to drag it out again.
Days passed. Five went back to acting like he had before the moonshine incident. He would leave Star on her makeshift bed for the day and go out and hunt for food for the two of them. When he came back he would only talk to Dolores. Star was starting to wonder if he was ever going to acknowledge what happened.
"How does your power work?"
Star looked up at Five a little surprised. Those had been the first words he had said to her since that night. He sat down in front of the fire and put his fresh kill on it. It looked like he had managed to catch a rabbit for them to eat. It was better than the bugs they had been eating the last few nights, but you did what you had to when you were desperate.
"What exactly are you wanting to know?" Star asked in return.
"Can you go back and forth in time, or is it only one direction? Is time your only power? How can you backwards so easily when that is supposed to be impossible?"
"Oh boy that's some questions. I've never bothered to try and go forwards, it was never useful to me." She pondered the question, "Hum. I could check that really quick..."
"No!" Five said quickly teleporting from the fire to beside Star and grabbing her wrist in a panic. He cause her to drop the book she had been reading.
"I wouldn't be going that far. Maybe a few minutes." Star said trying to calm him down. She placed her free hand over his, in an attempt to reassure him.
She wasn't going to disappear on him forever.
"I don't want to tempt it if you've never done it before." He said.
She had a feeling there was some other reason but she wasn't going to push it. She nodded, and his shoulders relaxed. He let go of her wrist and returned his focus back to the animal cooking over the fire.
"Okay. I won't. Like I said was never useful to me anyways. I'm not sure why it's so easy. Maybe cause it is a natural part of my power? After the first time I figured it out, I just kept getting better and better at it." She said with a shrug.
"That doesn't make sense." Five argued. "My power lets me teleport through time and space and I can't just go back."
"... I've noticed that your power feels oddly similar to mine, so maybe you're going about it wrong?" Star said.
"What do you mean by that." Five said with a scowl.
"I mean... You clearly felt when I used my power, how did that feel to you?" Star asked.
".... It felt like when I jumped through time but... smoother." He admitted.
"Every time you jumped with me, my power acted like it had been activated by proxy, it felt odd." She admitted.
"What the hell does that mean? That we have the same power? The seems incredibly unlikely." Five scoffed.
"So the fact that our powers are weirdly similar and both react to each other is..?" Star drifted off prompting Five to answer. He glared at her but didn't say anything as he reached out and pulled a leg off of the rabbit shoved it in her direction. She took the leg and started to eat it graciously. They both sat in silence as they ate the rabbit.
"Why was going backwards so useful?" He asked breaking the silence.
Star stopped eating at the question.
She stared into the fire.
She contemplated the question, and what it really meant. Was she willing to tell him the reason she needed to go back so often? The scientist used to call them long streams of numbers, maybe he took his name from that? A weird form of reclamation.
05713298 respond.
"Star?"
She jolted slightly, her hand reached up and touched the back of her neck as she scowled down at the ground. She didn't want to remember that. She had tried her hardest to forget those numbers. Did her best to never let them see the light of day again. She glanced at him, without looking up. He looked like he could be her age.
"Did they get a hold of you?" Star asked quietly. Suddenly, the rabbit didn't seem so appealing, as she thought of the past.
"Did-Did who get a hold of me?" Five asked confused his brows furrowing.
"The government." She said flatly, as she picked at the rabbit without eating any. "They collected as many of us as they could. I don't even know how many of us they had. There was so many cells. I never knew if they were all full or not. They would test us. We had to follow instructions. If you didn't follow instructions the killed you. Said you were to dangerous, or uncontrollable. There was so many of us there, I wouldn't be surprised if you were there, and I didn't know it."
Five felt horrified as Star spoke. Living with Reginald may have been difficult, but he didn't threaten to kill any of them.
"I don't- no." Five stutter horrified.
"Mmm." Star hummed as she stared into the fire. "Lucky. I was raised Facility Delta 09; that is what they called it, sometimes they just called it The Facility⌠It wasn't apparent what my power were at first, but they were determined to find out. They always found out something one way or another. They would run test after test. Each worst than the last. Eventually they did the most extreme test that they had to prompt our powers." She let out a deep sigh and seemed to need a moment to collect her thoughts before she continued, "I was put in a room with a trained marine. They, the scientist, would only let me out of the room alive if they knew what my power was. He came at me, and I tried to fight him⌠but our training was minimal so we couldn't overwhelm the guards and break out. He stabbed me in the gut. I remember how it felt when the knife went in my stomach, and how it felt when he twisted and yanked it out. It hurt so much that I just fell down. I was laying on the floor bleeding out. I was so scared. I didn't want to die, and I felt my powers come forward for the first time; I managed to go back to the beginning of the test. It was confusing, but I avoided the blow that killed me the first time, only to be caught by a different one. I went back again, and again and again, until the scientist began to think that I had some form of precognitionâŚ. And I let them think that. I couldn't have them thinking I had any form of time control they would have locked me up and drugged me to high heaven." She laughed bitterly at the thought.
Five didn't know what to say as Star kept going.
"It made it so much easier when we escaped. They thought I had shoddy precognition at best and Leaf was a vessel for the cosmic horrors of the universe." Star huffed a small laugh, "I mean Leaf does house the cosmic horrors of the universe, but I certainly don't have precognition. We were hell for their recollections groups." She grinned remembering how she, and Leaf worked together to avoid the government recollection teams.
Five couldn't help but stare at Star as she continued. The more she spoke the less real this sounded to him. Why would the government let his father adopt them if they did this to so many other kids? Was this real?
"Never knew when the collection groups might show up, but when they did, I would gather as much info as I could about them and then go back and tell Leaf everything so we could both plan how to take care to the team together."
Silence fell between the two of them as Star seemed to finished speaking.
"I- How did you escape?" Five asked.
Star though his question over for a moment before replying.
"There was this girl..."Star paused. "She could make anything she wanted happen by saying that she heard that it happened. They used to keep her drugged up all the time. She was too useful to kill I guess, but that was their mistake. I managed to slip into her room, and changed her dosage at one point. I made it so that they wouldn't notice the change, but her meds would wear off about 30 minutes before they usually refilled it. She ended up waking up and started causing all sorts of chaos. She opened everyone's cells, she disrupted the security system, and all other sorts of issues. Several of us broke out in the middle of all of that. The... The girl didn't make it. From what I heard she told a guard to shoot her in the head. I guess she couldn't take being trapped like that anymore, and didn't see any other way out. I wish I had gotten to her⌠Maybe she would have been able to make it out with me and Leaf."
Five felt his horror growing. The more Star described what happened to her and the people that were trapped with her the more they sound like his siblings.
"What did she look like?" He couldn't help but find himself asking.
"She was tiny... Pale as a sheet, her hair was red, might have been pretty if it had ever been able to be taken care of, but they kept all of us shaved down."
He felt relief that her description didn't sound anything like his sister, then he felt guilty because it was still someone that Star knew that died.
"What was her name?"
"I don't know." Star admitted, "I don't think she ever got to name herself. I didn't even name myself until I was free so..."
"...What did they call you?"
"I chose to forget that years ago." She said firmly.
Five let the silence fall over them again, picking at the rest of his rabbit. Everything about what he just heard didn't add up fully with his own experiences. From what he could tell Star didn't know anything about his family, and even if she grew up in a government facility she should have heard something about them after getting out. Yet the people she was describing had powers that sounded similar- no identical to his siblings. Her experiences didn't match to anything that he thought would be going on since Reginald was allowed to adopt seven of them and would have adopted more if he could have found more. Then there was the fact that Star's own power did feel similar to his even if she didn't use it like he did.
He thought about the strange portal he saw that lead him to find Star, and the strange loop that he felt when it first opened.
âŚ
He had a theory, but he needed to ask a few more questions before he said anything.
"Before you ended up here what happened?"
Star let out a frustrated sigh.
"You are just full of questions today aren't you?"
"Humor me." He said.
Star looked unimpressed. She took a bite out of her rabbit, avoiding the question as she ate.
"I'm trying to figure something out." Five said, and begrudgingly added, "Please."
She huffed but said, "I don't really know."
Five growled irritated.
"Don't give me that." She snapped, "I rewound hours, days, weeks, I almost destabilized the timeline because I wanted to figure out what was going on so bad and I couldn't figure out what the hell was causing everything to go to shit. One moment everything is fine then suddenly the whole world is on fucking fire, and I'm trying to save the only people that matter to me."
Five paused and mulled over the information. He put a pin in the 'destabilizing the timeline' bit for later.
"Did the date happen to be April 1st 2019?"
"What?"
"The date. Was it April 1st 2019?"
"I⌠Yeah? How did you know that?
Five stood up and started pacing. So that was the same. Could the reason be the same?
"Five?"
"Where all did you check?"
"I-' She sighed running her hand through her hair. "The usual suspects. Government bases, secret labs, counter intelligence. I even checked if there was a rouge meteor, or some shit. I couldn't find anything." Star said frustration in her voice.
"What about the epicenter of the explosion?"
"I don't know where it starts, and rewinding doesn't let me follow the explosion, just my timeline."
He cursed.
"Five what is going on? Why are you asking all these questions?" She asked looking at him concerned.
"I-"He hesitated.
He hadn't admitted to anyone besides Dolores why he was here⌠but Star had just shared with him her horrid past after he asked. Was it really fair if he chickened out?
"I jumped through time after my father told me not to. It was late 2002 and I was frustrated because I could teleport without any issues and I wanted to move onto the next part of my power. I wanted to work with time travel. My father forbid me from doing so. He said moving through space was easy, but time travel was like diving into a frozen lake without any idea where you are going and coming out an acorn."
Star laughed.
"What? What does that mean" She asked amused.
"I-Don't know he never really explained it." Five admitted.
"I think he just didn't know how it worked and didn't wanna admit it." Star laughed.
Five couldn't help the small smile that played at his lips. If she wasn't sitting in front of him right now, as a shining example of everything that his father said was impossible he would disagree with her, but here she was. Perfectly able to go backwards in time. She's never even thought of jumping through time.
"I would say you are wrong but he always said time travel backwards was impossible, yet here you are."
"Here I am." She agreed amused. "I'll just have to help you figure out backwards, and maybe you can teach me how you hop though space like that."
His heart leapt into his throat at the thought of getting the ability to go back, but he ignored it for now.
He cleared his throat and continued his story.
"Well I didn't listen to my father. I jumped through time." He said somberly, "I landed a few times and it was thrilling to see the differences in the future, but suddenly everything was on fire, and in ruins. I landed in the apocalypse."
He heard Star's sharp intake of breath. He closed his eyes as he remembered that day.
"I ran home, screaming for my family, and everything was gone. It looked like the explosion started there, and my family-" his voice cracked.
"FiveâŚ"
"My family was all there. They had tried to stop whatever caused the apocalypse, but they failed. They were all dead. The only clue I have to what started the apocalypse is this eye." Five said pulling out the fake eye he found in his brother's hand opening his eyes again.
Star looked at it, then at him.
"I'm sorry I don't know anything about it. I didn't even know it started⌠wherever we are." She said.
"Texas."
"Wh-Where?" She asked disbelievingly.
"Texas. We are in Texas." Five answered.
"How the fuckâŚ" She muttered seemingly more to herself than anything else.
He finally sat back down and grabbed his cold rabbit. He held it over the fire to heat it up a little. Silence sat between the two of them again, but it wasn't uncomfortable. The fire popped and crackled. The tarps fluttered in the wind and he vaguely heard the pages of the book he kicked fluttering as well.
"SoâŚ" He started, "What did you mean by destabilizing the time line?"
He watched as her face scrunched up before she sighed.
"Might as well get the conversation out the way if you are gonna learn how to rewind anyways." She said.
His eyebrow raised at the comment, but he didn't say anything.
"So I've been experimenting with rewinds for a long time. Since I was⌠eight I think?" Star guessed, "Seconds, minutes, hours, even days really don't affect the timeline so long as you don't cause too much to change that has already happened. You start getting around a week or more and it starts to get a little funky. You changed too much of what you did, which changes what other people do, and so on, and so forth. That might not matter as much here because we are the only people who it affects supposedly, but before the world ended it mattered a lot more."
"How did you know the time line was destabilizing though?" Five asked.
"I could just⌠feel it?" Star said, "It's like umm if you have ever walked on a frozen lake and you realize the ice under you is no longer solid."
"We're back at the lake?" Five joked.
"Hey at least we are on the lake and not an acorn." Star protested.
He put his hands up in mock surrender.
"At least your's makes sense." He admitted.
"Ha!" She laughed sticking her tongue out playfully before continuing, "But, umm, my power, and probably your power, makes me really sensitive to the health of the time line."
"What so things have to go the same every time?" He asked upset.
"No." Star said quickly, "If it was supposed to be the same every time I would have been dead a long time ago. It's kinda arduous how to fix it when it is off course, but possible. On the opposite end there is a weirdly easy way to put it back on course, but it is morbid. "
"How arduous? And How do you put it back on course?" He asked more to sate his curiosity than anything.
"Well the last time I nearly destabilized the time line and had to actually fix it I was 10 and I didn't technically fix it until I was 17." Star looked pained as she recalled the memory. "Though that may have been my own self getting in the way of fixing it seeing as I was purposefully trying to destabilize everything."
"You what?" Five hissed.
"I didn't escape The Facility until I was 16 Five. I wasn't what you would call mentally well." Star replied dully.
"Wouldn't I have felt that?" He asked his mind coming back around to his earlier theory.
"Did you not?" Star asked confused.
"No. I didn't feel anything like that. In fact I don't ever remember anything like your power before you landed here." He said.
"That's weirdâŚ" She said and looked into the fire with confusion.
"I think..."He said delicately, "You somehow crashed into another universe. "
Star looked away from the fire and up at him, blinking.
"I-I hadn't considered that." Star said, looking contemplative. The look quickly changed to horror. "If that's true then the thing stopping me from going back is..."
Five felt the sinking feeling in his gut as he realized where her thoughts went.
She was blocked from her universe.
She was blocked from her family.
It was Five's turn to not know what to do as Star covered her mouth and tried to stop the sobs as she started to cry, but they came anyways. He looked around desperately. Dolores offered him no help. He awkwardly moved to sit next to Star and wrapped one arm around her shoulders, the way she had done for him. She kept crying, burring her face in her hands. Her body shook, he was certain this wasn't good for her ribs, but he didn't know what to do to help her or calm her down. He just held her and let her cry it out just like she had done for him.
Eventually she cried herself to sleep, and Five wasn't sure what to do. She had curled into his side, and was holding on to him in her sleep. He sighed, picking her up, carrying her over to where she usually slept, and tried to deposit her. He was slightly annoyed when she didn't let go of him. Dolores was still no help, and she was laughing at him now. He resigned himself to his fate and laid down next to Star, who seemed content with this in her sleep. He hated to admit⌠but it was nice to have a little extra warmth throughout the cold night, and it did help him sleep a little better. He made absolutely sure to wake up earlier than Star to disentangle himself from her to avoid the embarrassment in the morning.
"Stop Laughing." He barked quietly at Dolores, as he walked away form Star's sleeping form. "You were no help last night."
Star never even finished answering his questions.
Klaus lounged on Mary's bed as he waited for the woman to return home. He honestly couldn't' be sure when she would get home, since he had let himself in, but he was in the area and getting high with her was so fun. His head lulled off the side of her bed as he brought a blunt to his lips, taking a deep drag.
"You know, if Ben hadn't warned me that you were here, I might have thrown something right at your crotch."
"Mary!" Klaus launched himself up excitedly, the room spinning slightly as the blood rushed back to his head.
Mary was standing in her doorway waving away some of the smoke from her face, with her nose wrinkled. She made her way further into the room shutting the door behind her as she did. Klaus grinned and bounced up onto his knees holding his arms out for a hug as he did. Mary rolled her eyes, but obliged him giving him a hug.
"You smell like a skunk." Mary complained, "You couldn't spring for something a little better?"
"If it works it works baby. "Klaus said with a wink and shimmied his hips as he did. Mary laughed at him pushing him over onto the bed, as she crawled in herself.
"God you are awful sometimes."
"But you love it~"
Leaf wrinkled his nose as he walked into the house. It smelled like cheap weed. Her eyes darted over to Mary's room and felt irritation at the sight of the sock on the door. Klaus was here.
They didn't like Klaus.
He was a terrible influence, and Mary could do so much better.
For some reason, however Mary seemed enthralled by Klaus, and kept making that bad decision again and again every time he came around. It technically wasn't her problem, but Leaf hated watching Mary go down this path. She was the only thing they had left at this point. Boy did that hurt to think about.
It had been too long.
Star wasn't coming back, as much as Leaf hoped and prayed, she would. So, it was just Leaf and Mary. Leaf would have to figure out how to help Mary. Which was going to be a problem since Mary didn't even seem to realize that she needed help in the first place. Leaf just might have to kill Klaus himself if that dick gets Mary hooked on any hard shit.
âŚ
God, Leaf wished Star was here to help solve this shit.
"You have so much sand in your hair it's matting."
Five grimaced at Star's words. They may be true, but did she have to be so blunt?
"What do you expect me to do about that?" He groused at her as she moved closer to him, her steps becoming audible.
He noticed, once she had been able to get up, and start moving around that she moved as silently as possible unless she wanted him to know she was getting close to him. There were little things about her movements that caught his attention like that. Based on the things she had told him about how she grew up, he couldn't say he was surprised, but it was interesting to see someone outside of his family move in similar manners to him.
"Let me cut your hair. At least to get the mats out."
"You realize that your hair is also starting to mat because of the sand." Five countered.
"Cut it for me then. Tit for tat."
While he was mildly annoyed with how she brought it up, it was a good idea. His hair was scratchy and pulled constantly because of the mats. It was usually fine in the dry season, but when the rainy season started, as it was about to soon, it was hard to keep his hair dry enough for the sand not to clump into it and make it not mat. He had been cutting it himself when it became too much of a problem, but if she was going to offer then he might as well take advantage of it.
"Fine."
"Great. Sit down." Star said and patted him on the shoulders.
He did as she said and sat down, pulling off the hat he wore to protect the top of his head from the sun as he did. It was still odd having another person around who he could interact with so much. As much as he loved Dolores, she couldn't interact with him the same way that Star did.
It was also strange to him how free Star was with her touch. He would have thought that with how she grew up she would want to avoid touch, but it seemed like she was looking for it constantly. Five wasn't used to someone touching him casually. Anytime he interacted with his siblings they usually were training, wrestling, or doing something to one up each other to show their father that they were better than one another. They didn't try, and show weakness around their father by crying or comforting one another. They certainly didn't touch each other for the sake of touching each other.
How was he supposed to react to someone who did all of that so casually?
He almost jumped out of his skin when Star started wiping away sand from the nape of his neck, idly complaining about the sand being everywhere. He didn't reply because he had a feeling that she wasn't really complaining. Once she wiped all the sand away, she started gently cutting away the mats in his hair, taking care not to pull too much on his head at any time. It was almost too much. It made him embarrassed. Why would she be so gentle with him? Hadn't he been nothing, but course and stiff with her since she got here? The one night months ago was an exception, but that didn't count. He wanted to know more about her powers, and had accidentally pushed her into a break down. He felt as if he owed her some kindness after that.
"There we go." Star said pulling him from his thoughts, as she now brushed loose hair from the nape of his neck. "Much better!"
He stood up and looked in the mirror he had off to the side, and saw that not only had she cut out the mats, but she had trimmed his hair, so it didn't look choppy thanks to the missing parts. His beard was still wild and untamed in comparison, but his hair looked somewhat presentable. If he really wanted he could trim his beard later if he wanted it to match.
"Whada'ya think?" Star asked as she came over and propped her arm up on his shoulder. "I could probably clean it up a little more, but I figured you cared more about practicality. "
He wasn't going to give her the reaction she was looking for the that last bit.
He ran his hands through his hair and appraised it. He purposefully took longer than necessary, before turning to Star.
"It's adequate. Now sit."
She pouted at his reaction, and he was mildly amused.
"Adequate? That's it?"
"Yes, now sit."
Star did as he said and took a seat where he had previously been.
Mary nearly jumped out of her skin when she opened her bedroom door and Leaf was right there.
"Leaf! You just scared the crap out of me!"
Leaf to their part looked surprised at the door opening and was poised to knock.
"Uhhh. My bad, cousin I didn't think you would be up this early." Leaf said apologetically, "But I do need to talk to you."
"Okay, can it wait for me to pee?" Mary asked, pulling her robe tighter around her as a breeze blew through the house.
"Yeah! Of course! Sorry!" Leaf apologized, getting out of Mary's way.
Mary sighed in relief and quickly made her way to the bathroom. As she did, she missed as Leaf peaked his head into her room looking for a certain unwanted house guest as she did.
Mary came out of the bathroom not to long after and saw Leaf sitting at the kitchen table with two cups of coffee. One for her and one for themself. Oof she might not be sober enough for this conversation. Or was she too sober for this conversation? She was one of the two. Still she made her way to the kitchen table and sat across from Leaf, who pushed a coffee towards her. She noticed that it already was filled with cream and sugar just how she liked it. Leaf was definitely ready for this conversation.
"Do I get to know what we are talking about?" Mary asked casually as she took a sip of her coffee.
"I think Klaus is bad for you." Leaf said bluntly. Mary almost chocked on her drink at how bluntly they said it.
"Excuse me?"
"The weed was one thing, the drinking was a bit in excess, still not too far, but the fact that you have been taking shrooms, smoking weed, and drinking in some combination every day for the past three months is too fucking much." Leaf listed off then asked, "When was the last time you were sober?"
"The fuck does that matter to you?" Mary asked offended.
"It matters because we are supposed to take care of each other!" Leaf shouted, their fist banging on the table as they did. "But how the hell am I supposed to depend on you for anything when you can't even be trusted to sleep safely in your own bed without choking on your own spit?"
Leaf wasn't looking at her. She could see his whole body was shaking, and she thought they might be crying.
"We are all we have left, and I have to worry about you doing this stupid ass shit because that fucker told you it would be fun or some shit? You never got to act out with your parent's, okay, whatever, why the hell would you start doing this shit with me? I've already lost Star, are you gonna make me lose you too? Because I didn't remember to come check on you in the middle of the night to make sure you weren't lying on your back? Because you were fucking tripping on shrooms, and tried to walk off the top of the stairs again? This shit has to stop Mary I can't deal with this. I don't care if you might come back, I still have to see you gone. I still have to live with the fear that you might not come back."
Mary sat quietly through Leafs rant. Partially because she wanted to listen, but also partially because she really wasn't ready for this conversation. She heaved a heavy sigh and let her face drop into her hands. It hurt that she was putting her friend through this⌠but she felt like she was in control for once. Klaus was making her feel normal! He accepted all her quirks and helped her not have to face the ones she hated⌠Like seeing ghosts.
It was so easy to smoke a joint or chug a beer. Granted over time the effectiveness of those things had gone down. Leading her to try shrooms. He had assured her it was safe. He had done them a million times. Besides, she apparently couldn't die. Her God didn't want her, and this God sure as shit didn't want her either. Wasn't that a wild thing to learn after a bad trip. Star had launched them into a whole different universe. Klaus had gotten a real kick out of the idea that he was sleeping with an alternate universe version of himself, but Mary still wasn't convinced they were that exactly.
"Klaus is just helping me. " She muttered, unable to look at Leaf. "This isn't some rebellious teenage phase Leaf. He isn't bad for me, he makes me feel good! Normal! "
Wanted. Needed.
But that wasn't fair to say to Leaf. Not in this moment. When Leaf was telling her how much they needed her. It was different though...it was different.
"I'll find something else then if the shrooms are too scary." She was scared of how far that would go. "But I won't leave Klaus. I..." She huffed, running her hand through her hair. When was the last time she showered? She didn't want to think about that right now. "He hasn't forced me into anything. He just offered. I made the decision to take him up on it. It isn't fair to blame him. "
She took a steadying breath, looking at Leaf finally.
"He is helping me. He said these things can keep the hallucinations away, and they do! I don't see the people...ghosts...whatever when I'm drunk or high."
Even if she had different hallucinations on the drugs she had tried.
Leaf didn't say anything. Leaf just stared at her with an unreadable expression before slowly getting up from her seat. Mary wasn't sure why, but she felt panicked at he did.
"Where are you going?"
"I told you I can't deal with this anymore. Trading one problem for another doesn't fix the issue. Klaus may not have forced anything on you, but he's the one who got you on all this shit. Do you really think this is the answer to life?" They gestured towards Mary. "To go around high as a kite and fucked out of your mind?" Leaf sighed as they stopped themself. "I'm going to my room. Do whatever you want. Clearly you're going to anyways."
Five let out a frustrated growl as he once again failed to rewind.
"You're trying to jump again." Star said simply, as she watched his power rebound on him again.
"No I'm not!"He snapped, even though they both knew he was lying.
She sighed and walked over to him offering her hand to him. He looked at her skeptically, but took it. He inhaled sharply as he felt her sliding backwards, pulling him with her. It was an odd feeling, like thick water sliding over him as he was pulled through it. He watched as the world around them reversed around them, seconds, then a minute, then two minutes, then it stop. Star was sitting down again, but he was there next to her still holding her hand.
"So how'd that feel to ya?" Star asked, as she looked up at him.
"It⌠felt like I was being pulled through thick liquid and flowing through it with you." He contemplated allowed.
"Oh." She sounded surprised, "I guess it would feel different experiencing it from an outside perspective."
"Well how did teleporting feel?" Five asked.
"It⌠felt like I was being pulled through a hole that wasn't quiet meant for me, then we were in a free fall, but only for a second before we landed wherever you were aiming for." Star mused. Idly her thumb started rubbing circles on the back of his hand as she recalled the experience.
"What are you doing." He asked stiffly, but left his hand where it was.
"What?"
"Nothing." He dismissed quickly before changing back to subject at hand, "If that isn't how you experience rewinds that how does it feel to you?"
She hummed.
"So water isn't far off from how it feels for me either, but it feels like I'm a gerridae on top of the water and I'm trying to cause as little ripples in the water as possible. If I can just skate by with as little ripples as possible than everything turns out fine."
"And if you cause ripples?" Five asked.
"Destabilization here we come."Star sighed annoyed.
"How did pulling me back with you not cause ripples?"
"I mean it kinda did," Star admitted, "But⌠I noticed after the moonshine incident that ripples involving the two of us just seem to smooth out."
"What?"
She shrugged.
"I think because our powers naturally let us mess with time, when we do mess with it, the things we do get smoothed over easier than changes of others we may cause. So say we somehow made it back before the apocalypse; the timeline would be heavily forgiving to our presence there, but if we tried to stop the apocalypse not so much. Not that we couldn't stop it, but we would be making up for it for a while after."
He swallowed the lump in his throat and clenched his other fist at her words. She knew he wanted to learn this to get back to his family. She knew he wanted to stop the end of the world. She wasn't stupid. She had probably figured him out before she even offered the trade. He hated how emotional he felt. His siblings would make fun of him for being like this. His father would tell him to pull himself togetherâŚ. But none of them were here.
"We?" He hated the way his voice cracked at the question.
He saw as Star chewed on the inside of her cheek before she answered.
"Unless you plan on leaving me here."
Those words felt like they punched the air out of Five's gut. He realized that maybe she didn't have him as figured out as he thought she did. Maybe he was just feeling over exposed because she was the first person he had really spoken to outside of Dolores in over a decade. (And maybe he wasn't too far gone to realize that meant she was the only person he had spoken to in over a decade.) She must have felt like she was going out on a limb by offering to teach him how to rewind. He never even promised to teach her how to teleport, he realized.
"I m-mean if you don't fuck the timeline I'll still land roughly where I did, so I guess it might not be that bad." Star started to ramble in Five's silence, "You would still remember me, so if you just don't let me die that would be nice." She was starting to hiccup and he could tell she was working herself into an anxiety attack, "I-I I've never been on the other s-side of a rewind so I don't know how much I-I would remember, but it seemed like you are remember more th-the more you are practicing with your time powers s-so-"
Five grabbed her shoulder with his free hand stopping her rant.
"Stop." He demanded, "Look me in the eye."
Star hesitated before complying. There were tears in her eye and she was still hiccuping.
"Breath. In. Hold. Out. Follow me." He said and demonstrated how he wanted her to breath.
She watched him then started following. They sat there breathing together until he felt like she was fully calmed down. He sighed.
"I have no intentions of just leaving you here by yourself." He said, "From the sounds of it fixing the apocalypse is going to be complicated even without taking you into account. For all I know if I did rewind and fixed the apocalypse I knew about you crashing into the world might cause an entirely different one. I'm pretty sure the portal you came through caused some sort of EMP, and from what I've read that would wreak havoc."
Star snorted.
"Depends how strong of an EMP it was. Either I'm just screwing Texas or I'm possibly causing World War 3⌠Granted Texas may still try and instigate World War 3 in either case."
"Either way," Five lightly snapped, "It is better if we find a way to get us both back there. Ripples or no."
Star cleared her throat and looked down.
"Sorry."
"Don't apologize."
"Okay." He could hear something different in her tone.
"What is it now?" He asked. Before she spoke he realized that she was smiling to herself.
Great did he have to worry about her having wild mood swings?
The Umbrella Academy, is not the only way life could have gone for the children born on that day.
Sir Reginald Hargreeves was lucky his world did not fear the children that came about with powers form that fateful day. Other worlds version of the children were not so lucky. What happens to the timeline when those children from another world spill over into the world that The Hargreeves are used to?
Star laughed pushing Leaf's shoulder as they put the"donated" food away.
"Shut up dude. We are not trying that." Star scoffed, "Don't we feed those things enough? Why would we give them our perfectly good food on top of it?"
"Come oooon."Leaf laughed as they tried to make their case. "Maybe if we feed them nice food they will be friendlier to you and we can really fuck up those-"
A knock at the front door cut Leaf off. Both of them froze looked at each other then started moving silently. The two moved around each other effortlessly, as they started assessing the situation. Star's eye darted around looking at the windows, checking for threats. Leaf crouched and slowly made his way towards the door.
"Who is it." Leaf asked quietly.
"I don't know. First time." Star answered as she moved to hide where she could still see the door but not be in line of sight.
"Great." Leaf sighed, as she crept over to the window next to the door and peaked out. They were confused as they saw a random girl standing outside waiting at the door.
He turned to Star and signed 'girl. alone. going to answer door.'
Star frowned, but stayed hidden in-case this was a new tactic that the government was using to lull them into a false sense of security.
"Can I help you?" Leaf said as they opened the door. She purposefully used her more masculine sounding voice as she spoke to the girl in front of her.
The girl didn't jump to her credit. Just turned and blinked at Leaf. The young woman looked to be roughly the same age as Leaf and Star. She wore modest clothes, and she had a suitcase next to her. She stared passed him looking at nothing before she shook her head and nodded.
"Yes! I'm responding to the ad in the newspaper for a roommate." She said happily, seemingly not perturbed by the decrepit nature of the house.
"Uhh."
"The What!?" Star snapped as she hoped out of her hiding place and came to the door.
"It was a joke! I thought people would show up and see this place and leave! I didn't think anyone would actually take it seriously!" Leaf said defending himself, his hand up in surrender. Star smacked Leaf hard and glared at her.
"Oh if you guys aren't actually looking for a roommate..." The girl said sadly, looking away dejected.
"Oh my god look what you've done!" Star hissed at Leaf, before turning back to the girl and smiling politely. "Listen its really not safe to stay here. My idiot cousin may have thought this was a funny joke, but this place gets shot up, all the time, and really I wouldn't want to put someone else in that kind of-"
"I don't care about that." The girl interrupted Star. Star blinked surprised.
"Huh?"
"I don't care about that. I don't care if it's dangerous. I just need somewhere to stay, that isn't my parents' place. Please. Please. I really need somewhere to stay." The girl begged, her eyes shining with un-shed tears.
"Oh g- Yours." Star said, walking away from the door.
"Uhhhh. Welcome in cousin?" Leaf said awkwardly.
Star spun around on her heels about to give Leaf a piece of her mind when the girl started crying. Both Leaf and Star gave each other bug eyed stares, as they didn't know what to do with her crying. Leaf pointed from Star to the girl and Star shook her head violently while signing.
'Your problem! Your problem!'
'Please. Please. Please.' Leaf begged while signing franticly.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to cry I just am so relieved to have somewhere to stay." The girl apologized, wiping her face.
The two looked between each other then back at the crying girl. Star sighed. They weren't going to throw this poor thing back onto the streets. Star would have to get back at Leaf for this later. They had just made both of their lives so much more complicated.
"Babe have whatever room you want that isn't claimed. " Star said throwing her hands up and walking back towards the kitchen.
The girl beamed at those words and picked up the luggage that was beside her and made her way in. She looked around with wide eyes. She looked like it was the greatest thing she had ever seen.
"Uhh." Leaf rubbed the back of their head, as they closed the door. "Yeah, this is our home."
"It's much nicer inside." the girl commented.
"It's what we can do ya know?" Leaf said as he walked around. "Uhh by the way what should we call you?"
"Oh! I didn't introduce myself! I'm sorry that is so rude! I'm Mary Ann Ruthridge! Nice to meet you! And you are?" the girl introduced herself.
"I'm Leaf and that's Star." Leaf said motioning over to Star who was just finishing up putting away the food.
"...Last names?"
"Freeman." Star answered as she came back over holding two bottles of orange juice. She threw one over to Leaf who caught it easily.
"Oh! Both of you?" Mary asked.
"We're cousins." they both replied, as they took a sip of their juice in sync.
"Okay." Mary said, nodding to herself even though she knew she was going to forget their names in two minutes. "You will have to forgive me I am terrible with name so I might ask for them again."
"It's fine he forgets his own name half the time." Star joked, elbowing Leaf.
"I do not!" Leaf scoffed dramatically, shoving Star.
"So you don't just garble your own name when someone pretty asks you for it?" Star teased.
"Shut up!"
Mary laughed at the cousins as they started to bicker before turning, and grabbing her luggage and looking for a room to stay in. She wandered into one close to the stairs and figured that it was a good as any other and placed her stuff down. She could still hear the cousins bickering in the other room. It was friendly bickering instead of a screaming match that she used to hear at home. She took a deep breath and sighed. She could do this.
"Their monsters!"
"Help me!"
"They need to be locked up!"
Mary's face scrunched up as the voices started to ring through her ears and she quickly dug through her purse pulling out her antipsychotic drugs and downed some as fast as she could. She could do this. She could do this.
Star sighed at she fell back into her bed. The last few months had been a lot. With Mary moving in. With the governments sudden increase in trying to "reposes" Star and Leaf. She didn't feel like she could even sleep at this rate. It was constant rewinds. Constantly making sure they all made it out alive. Every fiber of her being felt like it was constantly firing, constantly working. Her eyes hurt as she stared up at the ceiling on her room.
Her chest was buzzing with energy.
The night felt off.
Something about the air and the way everything moved felt like she was repeating it, but Star knew this was the first time she had lived this night. It wasn't like anyone else had her power; as far as she knew. The government didn't even think she had her power. Mary only recently learned about Leaf and Star's powers. Granted Mary seemed reluctant to believe anything about powers considering she wouldn't even believe she had one of her own.
Star had seen it.
The government had sent two teams at the same time, but only one had done the recon; Star had only seen and planned for the one team. Star had only planed for one team. Chaos had broken out in the house after the second team breached. Leaf and Star had almost cleared the first team when the second entered the home. As soon as they came in they shot Mary in the head with one of their assault rifles.
Star knew that Mary was dead. A shot directly to the face with that kind of ammunition isn't something you just brush off. One of the mercenaries managed to shoot Leaf in the back. Star felt panic starting to over take her when another was standing over her with his gun pointed at her head. Then Mary got back up after being dead for two minutes and shot the mercenary who was about to kill Star, who was still trying to wrap her head around what was happening. Mary didn't know it but she saved their lives by doing that, giving Star a moment to collect herself and rewind.
Star couldn't sit still when the air felt like this.
She pushed herself up and started to creep silently around the house. Checking all the windows. Looking for any sign of an on coming attack. Anything that would explain why she felt so on edge. To her surprise she found Leaf and Mary doing the same thing.
'You feel it too?' Star signed to the other two.
They both nodded. No one wanted to break the silence. The air was so thick with tension that you could cut it with a butter knife.
Silently, they all crept down stairs making sure to avoid the loud steps as they descended.
Something was very wrong if all of them felt like this.
'What should we-' Leaf started to sign when the silence was shattered by a deafening boom that shattered all of the glass in their home. Leaf grabbed the two of them and shielded them with his body as glass rained down from all over.
All of them clung to each other as hell seemed to open up around them. The world shifted into screams, and crashing as it sounded like buildings around them started to come down. And it kept coming down no matter what Star did. She rewound hours, days, a week, two week ,the time line started to protest, and nothing changed. She couldn't figure out what was making everything go to shit. Something was happening somewhere that she couldn't figure out that kept making everything go to hell.
She gave up on saving the world and focused on saving only what mattered to her.
"We can't stay here!" Star shouted as everything started to come down around them once again.
"Where the hell do you think we can go in all this!?" Leaf shouted back. The sounds of agony just became louder and louder as they argued.
"I'm going to try something!" Star shouted, her voice scratching as she tried to be heard over the cacophony of noise.
She pulled Mary and Leaf even closer to her as she started to will her power to do what she wanted.
She could feel the fight and push back as she forced her power to cover not only herself but her family. Her head and chest started to hurt as she pushed harder; forcing it to do what she wanted. She almost had the bubble that she was going to use to try and take them back with her, when something collided with them, and everything suddenly was moving far to fast. Star screamed as she suddenly felt herself ripped from the other two. She saw both of them try to grab her again but she was too far out of their reach to successfully catch her.
Spinning and tumbling Star cried out until they suddenly crashed into something grainy, and then something hard.
Star's head spun as she laid in the heat and what felt like sand, against hot metal that wasn't helping anything that was going on right now. She had tried to rewind a few times, but ended up in similar positions to the one she was in now, and now her chest hurt for a different reason entirely. Now she just stayed where she was with a horrible pain radiating from her side, unbearable heat bearing down on her, and a horrible ache in her chest that only happened when she over used her power.
Was there worse ways to die? She couldn't think of many. Losing her family, losing her home, and ending up stranded in some fucking hellishly hot desert with some kind of injury that made moving nearly impossible⌠Yeah this was pretty high up there.
She heard the gun click and she barely could bring herself to lift up her head to see the gun that was being pointed at her. Was this really how she was going to go out after all these years?
"Who are you." demanded the man pointing the gun at her. "How did you get here! What are you doing here!"
Star blandly glanced at the man. He was tall, most of his face was and skin was covered making it hard to tell anything about his features. Probably a fair idea in this kind of weather. He was pointing a hunting rifle at her. A hunting rifle was a new one. He better make it count. Star shook her head of that thought. That wasn't exactly something to worry about now that she's lost everything now was it?
"Who are you!" the man demanded again this time getting closer the barrel of the rifle nearly touching her face. "I've been out here for 10 years and haven't seen anyone in all those years and suddenly I'm supposed to believe that you just appeared out of nowhere."
"I don't want to be here anymore than you seem to want me here." Star croaked finally. The man seemed to lock up at her reply, almost as if he didn't expect her to actually say anything. "I'd give anything to go back to my family, but I keep ending. Up. Here. A fucking lump in the sand not even able to get myself out of the fucking hole I'm in." Her voice broke as she said the last sentence, and she hated it.
He didn't seem to know what to do with her words, but she had started in on them now.
"I'm supposed to be the one that makes sure that we don't get split up! I'm supposed to make sure no one ends up dead! And yet! Here I am stuck in a fucking shit ass desert with no way to get back to my cousins to make sure that they are okay, with some fuck who's aiming his fucking rifle at my head. You wanna shoot me with that gun?"She spat lunging up as she did, "You better make it count. Cause I'm a fucking bitch and a half to kill and I'll kill you twice as hard if you piss me off."
The man skittered back a little, but kept his gun trained on Star the whole time, looking like he had seen a ghost. The two stared each other down for several moments. Neither of them making a move. Then slowly he lowered the gun. He carefully put it on his back and approached her cautiously, looking at her shoulder as he did.
"Its dislocated." He said flatly.
She bit her lip to stop herself from making a snide remark about the obvious.
"You know how to relocate it?" Star asked instead.
She tried to get a clearer look at him now that he was closer. His eyes were sharp, and intelligent as he looked her over. He was thin, his skin looked rough; from the sand and sun was her assumption. She could just make out that he had some kind of facial hair under the layers that were covering his face, but she couldn't tell if it was just a mustache or if it was a full beard. He didn't say anything as he looked her over, so she stayed silent.
Her question was answered when he reached out grabbing her shoulder and popping it back into place without giving her any warning. Star gritted her teeth, barely keeping her scream in. She waited for the spots in her vision to clear before she glared at the man.
"Warning would have been nice." She grouched,"What if I bit my tongue off?"
"I knew what I was doing." Was all the man said in reply before he grabbed her good arm and used it to haul her up. She hissed in pain as he did, her side felling like it was stabbing into her. "What hurts?"
"My ribs." Star gasped.
"Well shit." The man said. "We'll check it back at the base."
Star felt the world twist around them and they were falling but only for a second before they were suddenly somewhere else. It felt jarring yet somehow oddly familiar. It was almost like when she used her power but different.
"Wha..."She started confused, but the man ignored her and the twist happened again and they were once again elsewhere.
It happened again and they were outside a building that had tarps covering it all over. The man sighed as he looked at the building and then a final twist and they were inside. Star looked around and saw books pilled around, math scrawled everywhere, and clothing thrown about. The man placed her down so she was sitting comfortably and motioned at her.
Star stared at him.
"Well come on!" The man said irritated, "I need to see your ribs."
"Just because you relocated my arm doesn't mean I can lift it." Star replied annoyed.
He let out and aggravated sigh as he leaned down and started to pull up Star's shirt. She just let him since he didn't seem to have anything other than checking her injuries in mind. She heard him hiss as he got a look at her ribs.
"Those look nasty already. I'm gonna feel em to see if anything's broken so don't fucking elbow me." He warned.
Star appreciated the warning, and did her best to not react as he as he said. His touch was gentle, but Start still couldn't help but hiss in pain. She tried to distract herself with something else as he started prodding a little deeper to check for breaks. His hands were calloused and rough in texture, even if his touch was as gentle, or as it could be give the situation. He poked at one rib and Star couldn't help, but jolt and yelp. She tried to keep her arm to herself, but she did accidentally catch him just slightly clipping his temple. He hissed, but didn't say anything as he kept looking over her ribs. She quietly apologized, and started breathing in through her nose and out through her mouth.
"Looks like only one actually broke. It looks like it didn't get too far out of place, so that's good." The man said as he pulled Star's shirt back down and stood up. "Don't have much in the way of pain relief here but I can get you some good booze, so maybe you don't feel it as much."
"What do you count as good?" Star asked skeptically.
"Whatever gets you drunk fast." The man replied and sat down across from her. "You won't be much use until you are healed up, so better to stay comfortable till then."
"Well that's a nice sentiment." Star said dryly.
"It's practical." The man replied.
Mary screamed as she hit the ground. It hurt, her head was spinning, but she was more worried about if her friends were with her or not.
"Leaf! Star!" She called out voice strained as she pushed herself up and tried looking around.
"Mary!" Leaf replied and she felt her hand slap her side. Relief flooded her for a moment and she collapsed back down before she realized that she didn't hear anything from Star.
"Star?" Mary called out again her voice pitching with panic. She started to push herself up to look around. She saw Leaf doing the same, calling out for their cousin as well.
Looking around Mary saw that she and Leaf were in an ally way that looked and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned ever. She was worried because she didn't see Star anywhere around them. She knew that they had lost hold of her when they were tumbling through... whatever that was, but she still had hoped that Star would land near them. Or maybe she had just landed a little father away. That was probably what had happened. Mary convinced herself that that had to be what happened and pushed herself to her feet.
"We've gotta find Star." She said.
Leaf didn't argue as they got to their feet. They looked worried at the loss of their cousin and friend, but neither of them spoke out loud the real fear that they both had. If they didn't give the thoughts life then they couldn't be real. They both helped each other limp out of the ally way and tried to figure out where they were. As it turned out they ended up in Atlanta somehow. They weren't sure how, considering Star's power had only ever took her back in time, but maybe whatever happened caused weird things to happen. They were both mildly worried that maybe Star had actually landed back at the house in Savannah while they had been knocked to Atlanta.
It took them a little while but they realized that that wasn't the case.
Mary remembered that Star had told them several times that while sliding back a few hours was easy the longer she tried to go back the harder it was, and the more unstable her ability became. She said didn't like to do more than a week because it became hard to control how well the time stream handled what changes she made to it with out destabilizing. She did admit once, to trying to destabilize the time stream when she was younger, while still trapped in the government facility, but her powers also made her naturally want to fix those kind of issues so she failed. To say the least she didn't slide too far back in the time stream anymore.
So when Leaf and Mary saw that it was 2014 instead of 2019 they knew something was wrong.
Finding Star ended up amounting to nothing. Neither Mary nor Leaf would admit that there was a chance that they might not see Star again. They decided that they were going to find themselves a place to stay for when they eventually ran into Star again. Leaf managed to find a run down looking, but rather structurally sound house that they could take up residence in. She had a real talent for finding places like that apparently, since she had found the home that she and Star had taken up residence in before as well. Mary wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth, and took everything in stride.
The house did take quite a bit of clean up since no one had stayed inside of it in years.
Apparently there was rumors of it being incredibly haunted.
Mary could happily report that she hadn't run into a single ghost in the house as of yet, so the house probably was just old, and scared the neighborhood kids. It could stay that way for all Mary cared. The fact that none of the ghost that had harassed her at their old home managed to follow them was such a relief to her.... Not that ghost actually existed. It was just her illness. She kept forgetting that she wasn't special like Star and Leaf. Star had been so convincing⌠But that wasn't in the cards for Mary, she wasn't specialâŚMary missed Star.
She shook her head and returned her concentration back to what she was doing. The pile of garbage in front of her needed to be taken out of the house in a way that wouldn't bring to much suspicion on the fact that they had moved in. Mary knew there was a dumpster without a lock in an ally way near.
Leaf was in the middle of making sure that they wouldn't be rained on so Mary left them to that, and grabbed the bags herself. She made sure to not be seen, as she left the house and made her way to the ally with the dumpster. She had to pause every now and again to readjust her hold on the bags, and to make sure that none of them had busted, but she made it to the ally and disposed of the garbage. She was thankful that none of the bags had busted open. She didn't want any of their contents leaking on to her. She brushed herself off and turned to make her way back home when she heard someone yelling.
"Hey! Someone help! My brother's OD-ed! Help!"
She winced. It sounded like they were in the ally next to her. She groaned to herself as she realized that she wouldn't be able to live with herself if she just ignored this, so she ran over to the other ally way, and saw a Asian young man standing over an unconscious man shouting.
"Hey what's going on!" Mary asked as she ran up. Her blood ran cold as the boy turned to face her looking at her with shock, and she realized that she could just slightly see though him.
"You can hear me?" he asked surprised. "You can see me?"
Mary did her best to pretend that she didn't do either of those things as she immediately knelt down and started shaking the man on the ground. "Hey are you okay? Can you hear me? Buddy you need to wake up!"
"He can't hear you he's OD-ed. You need to call an ambulance." The boy said kneeling down next to Mary. "I know you heard me. You looked right at me when you ran up." He sounded oddly calm compared to any ghost Mary had ever met. "If you don't have a phone his is in his ass."
"I hope you mean pocket." Mary couldn't help but say in reply.
The boy laughed. "Oh yeah, that would be nice, but he doesn't have pockets in these pants. It's not shove up there, so you just need to grab it, and dial 911."
Mary groaned as she listened to the ghost boy next to her and reached for the phone. She was horrified to find the phone was exactly where he said it would be. She dialed 911 and told them that she had found the man OD-ed in the ally way. There were they surprisingly fast and the man was taken away on the ambulance. The ghost boy left with the man, but waved at Mary as he went.
"Thanks! I owe you!" He shouted as the doors to the ambulance closed.
Mary still had the mans phone.
The phone that had been exactly where the boy told her it would be.
âŚ
She needed to go home.
A tapping on her window caught Mary's attention. She stared at the window and decided to ignore it and go back to reading the story she had found online. The tapping happened again and this time she heard a voice say something that she didn't quiet make out. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up as she realized that someone was outside her window, trying to get her attention. She slowly put down her phone (technically the phone she had taken from the man she saved) as she moved off her bed and crept over to her window.
She nearly screamed when the young man that had been with the man in the ally way stuck his head through the closed window and grinned as he saw her. She did fall back on her ass though, so she had to stare up at the boy.
"Hey!" The young man greeted, "My brother's outside. He wants to thank you for saving him. Sorry, about the time he's not very good at being a normal person."
Mary stared at the young man like he had grown two heads, and she processed what had just been said to her.
"It's been months!" Was all Mary could think to say.
"It took a while to convince Klaus that you had been able to see me too."
"Move your ass. I wanna meet this girl." Mary heard the man from outside say.
The boy pulled his head out and Mary heard him say, "Klaus she hasn't said she wants to see you yet! Don't just barge your way in!"
"We can both see your ass and other fucking Ghost, while other people can't? Fuckin who the hell else is she ever gonna be able to bitch about that to properly?" the man said, and... it was a good point if he could see the same things that she could.
Mary got up from her position on the floor and opened her window and stuck her head out. She could see the young man arguing with his brother. She took a moment to really look both of them over now. The young man looked like he was in his late teens to early twenties, but Mary couldn't be sure. He was wearing black pants, a black shirt and a black and gray hoodie. His hair was short and black. It must have been a tragedy for the man to have lost his brother at such a young age. Looking at the man she guessed that they weren't biologically related as he was thin gaunt white man with short brown hair. He was wearing leather pants that clung tightly to him, his shirt was a low collar tank-top and a black and brown fur lined jacket. The two looked like they couldn't be farther apart from each other.
"Uhh hi?" Mary said catching the two off guard.
The man, Klaus apparently, turned to face Mary and smiled reaching out and grabbing her hand shaking it as he spoke.
"Oh my god hi~ I'm Klaus. This storm cloud over my shoulder is my brother Ben. He told me that you saved me."
The young man, Ben, rolled his eyes at Klaus's antics.
"I, uhh, just called the ambulance for you." Mary said. She was caught off guard when Klaus pushed her back and started to climb into her window. She backed up and watched as he fell on the floor. He quickly recovered and stood up.
"Oh heeey. You've cleaned this place up real nice." Klaus commented as he looked around.
"Ha-Have you been here before?" Mary asked.
"Once or twice." Klaus answered while waiving his hand as if it didn't matter. "But I think we both know that we are avoiding the fact that you can see Ben."
Mary realized that Ben was already in the room and his hood was up. He didn't look like he was too happy that Klaus was bringing up this conversation.
"I-"
"Mary! You okay in there? I heard a lot of noise." Leaf called out, and Mary realized that he was coming to check on her.
"Oh you have a roommate!" Klaus said cheerfully and started to make his way towards the door.
"No!" Mary said sharply and grabbed Klaus before he could reach the door. She cursed herself, as she heard Leaf go from calmly moving to check on her, to hauling ass to her room. They threw the door open and Mary threw Klaus behind her to save him from any possible chance of meeting Leaf's "friends".
"I'm Okay!" Mary shouted before Leaf could do anything.
Leaf stopped, and looked around the room and was confused by the man in the room.
"...Are you having a booty call?" Leaf asked mildly perturbed.
"Ohhh that'd be fun. We can definitely put that on the list if you want, hun." the man chimed as he got up from his place on the floor.
Leaf felt slightly relieved at the look that Mary shot the man and confused at the pleading look she was was shooting the corner of her room. She sighed and looked at Leaf.
"Leaf this is Klaus. He's the guy that I saved in the ally way a few months ago..." Mary seemed to hesitate before she continued, " His brother Ben is the one who told me where to find his phone."
"Uhh okay why didn't Ben just call?" Leaf asked confused.
"Ben's in the corner."
Leaf blinked. Looked at the empty corner again and back at Mary.
"Wait so not only can you not fuckin die you can talk to the dead?" Leaf asked incredulously.
"You cant die?" Klaus asked surprised. "Well that's just rude of god."
Mary flinched, and Leaf assumed that maybe Ben had also been caught off guard by that.
"Okay we don't actually know that for sure." Mary tried to excuse.
"Are you calling Star a liar?" Leaf asked.
Mary shrunk and muttered, "No, but I really don't believe that I could have done something like that."
"Well there's clearly a lot to unpack there, but really I just wanted to commensurate with someone else who was also harassed by the dead." Klaus said.
Leaf processed what was just said and looked over at Klaus. She couldn't help but blink a few times as she looked at the man.
"I'm sorry you can see the dead too?"
Klaus shrugged and waved off the question with a coy smile before really smiling and winking at Leaf as he brought his finger up a 'shush' motion.
Leaf just looked away from the man and looked at Mary.
"You're okay?"
"I'm okay, if not a little overwhelmed." Mary admitted.

Really, all problems started with Bee and Ozzie teasing Lucifer on how lovely you looked in your wedding gown, knowing he won't be able to resist.
Lucifer had been doing surprisingly well, all things considered. He hadn't sent Charlie to "accidentally" check on you, and had only checked the time seventeen times in the last ten minutes.
Lucifer had tugged on his bow tie several times already. The damn thing wasn't even crooked.
He knew that. Lilith knew that. Anyone with functioning eyesight would know that.
Yet somehow he kept finding reasons to adjust it.
A small pull to the left. A slight tightening. Then a complete undoing of the knot because perhaps the entire thing had been tied incorrectly from the start.
Five minutes later, he was staring at the finished result only to discover it looked exactly the same as before.
With a long sigh, he finally abandoned the battle and dropped into a chair.
This was bad.
He only had to wait another half hour. Perhaps less.
Thirty minutes was nothing. He had existed for millennia.
Thirty minutes should have been easy. So why did it feel impossible?
"What's wrong, love?"
Lucifer glanced sideways.
Lilith sat beside him, elegant as ever. Every detail of her appearance was perfect, from the drape of her clothing to the jewels adorning her neck. She looked every bit the Queen of Hell, poised and untouchable.
After all, this wasn't exactly their first wedding.
Over the centuries, Lucifer and Lilith had accumulated enough ceremonies to fill several history books. They had exchanged vows beneath marble temples during ancient Roman celebrations. They had walked around sacred fires in elaborate Indian ceremonies. They had participated in old Welsh traditions, handfasting rituals, forgotten customs that no longer existed anywhere but their memories.
He opened his mouth, already preparing a teasing remark.
The words never came. Because he noticed her hands.
At first, it was subtle.
Just a slight tremor. A tiny movement. But once he saw it, he couldn't unsee it.
Lucifer's smile softened as he looked at her. Without a word, he stepped behind Lilith's chair and reached around her, threading their fingers together.
Almost immediately, the tension seemed to leave her shoulders. The tremble in her hands disappeared.
A quiet chuckle escaped him as he rested his chin atop her head. "You're as nervous as I am?"
Lilith released a long sigh. "Of course I am."
There was no attempt to deny it.
Her fingers tightened around his. "We're marrying her."
The words alone were enough to make both of them smile.
Lilith shook her head softly. "I'm excited and nervous andâ"
Lucifer leaned down and pressed a kiss against her cheek before she could finish. "I know how you feel, honey."
For a moment, he simply stayed there, his cheek brushing against her hair. "Not being able to see her all day has my brain overthinking everything."
Lilith let out a small laugh. "Yes, I've been hearing you whine about it the entire day."
Lucifer gasped dramatically. His hand flew to his chest as though she'd stabbed him. "Whine?"
"You heard me."
"I was expressing my completely valid emotional distress."
"You complained because Charlie wouldn't send you pictures. You asked her what - twelve times?"
"Thirteen."
She stared.
Lucifer shrugged. "I was committed."
The laugh that escaped her this time was brighter. The sound eased something inside his chest.
"You're no better, you know," he continued, "I distinctly remember you trying to bribe Vaggie."
Lilith immediately looked away. "I was not bribing her."
"You offered her an entire island."
"It was a small island."
"A small kingdom, more like."
Lilith's lips twitched. "Semantics."
Lucifer shook his head in disbelief. Then, after a moment, his expression softened.
The teasing faded away. His thumb brushed gently over the back of her hand. "Anyways...I'm sure she's as nervous as we are."
"Why would I be nervous?!" You laughed so hard that one of the maids nearly poked you in the eye with a makeup brush.
The room was bustling with activity. Several attendants moved around you, adjusting your veil, fixing your hair, and applying the final touches to your makeup. Another sat at your feet, carefully painting your nails while a third worked on your pedicure. Honestly, you felt less like a bride and more like royalty.
Actually, scratch that.
You were marrying the King and Queen of Hell.
You practically were royalty.
A content sigh escaped you as you sank deeper into the plush chair. This was amazing. People were bringing you snacks, helping you get dressed, and fussing over every tiny detail while you did absolutely nothing. If this was what being a royal bride felt like, you could get used to it very quickly.
Across the room, Bee and Ozzie exchanged amused glances.
There was a reason they liked you.
"You're seriously not nervous?" Bee asked, watching as a maid carefully adjusted one of the jewels woven into your hair.
You blinked at her. "No?"
The answer came so naturally that both she and Ozzie immediately started laughing.
You looked between them, confused by their reactions. "What?"
"It's your wedding," Ozzie pointed out.
"Exactly."
"You should be nervous."
"Why?"
Bee threw her hands into the air. "Because you're about to walk down an aisle and commit yourself to two incredibly powerful immortals for the rest of eternity!"
You considered that for a moment. Then shrugged. "Sounds pretty great to me."
That only made them laugh harder.
Honestly, you couldn't understand what was so strange about your reaction. This wasn't some arranged marriage. This wasn't a decision you'd been forced into. You loved Lucifer and Lilith more than words could describe.
You were getting married to the loves of your life!
The thought sent a rush of excitement through your chest.
Your smile widened as you glanced at your reflection in the mirror. The gown was beautiful. The veil was beautiful. Everything was beautiful.
And soon you'd finally get to see them.
God, you couldn't wait. You were so ready for this. Ready to walk down the aisle. Ready to promise forever.
And all you could think was that the ceremony wasn't starting nearly fast enough.
Eventually, Bee checked the time and let out a quiet groan. "We should probably make sure everything is actually ready."
Ozzie nodded in agreement. "We'll only be gone for a minute."
"I'll be fine." You reassured them.
Her eyes narrowed. That was exactly the sort of sentence people said before causing trouble.
"You promise?"
"Bee."
"I'm serious."
Finally, you sighed dramatically. "I promise I won't sneak out."
"I didn't say anything about sneaking out."
"Because that's obviously what you're worried about."
Ozzie snorted. "She's got you there."
Bee ignored him. "You are not leaving this room."
"I'm not leaving this room."
"You are not trying to find Lucifer."
You looked offended. "Why would I do that?"
Both of them stared at you.
"..."
"..."
"Okay, that's fair."
Ozzie barked out a laugh.
There had already been at least three intercepted attempts to obtain information about you.
Needless to say, nobody trusted him.
Or you, for that matter.
Because if Lucifer somehow managed to sneak into the bridal suite, there was a very real chance you'd simply shrug and let him stay. Nobody was concerned about Lilith, somehow the perfect angel in the Sins' eyes. If only you could tell them what she got up to...
You cleared your throat. "I'll survive, go."
Before leaving, Bee glanced back one last time. "If Lucifer appears, yell."
You rolled your eyes. "Yes, Mom."
Bee gasped in outrage. Ozzie immediately started laughing as he dragged her into the hallway.
Finally. A few minutes of peace.
The maids had finished most of their work and were busy cleaning up brushes, powders, and various beauty products scattered around the room. Nobody paid much attention as you unlocked your screen.
Your notifications were a disaster.
The first messages were from Charlie and Vaggie. You smiled as you opened them.
Charlie: Everything is going great! Everyone's seated! Nobody's fighting! This is the best day ever!!!
Charlie: Okay, one person is fighting but we're handling it.
Charlie: Never mind, it's two people.
Vaggie: Everything is under control.
Charlie: IT'S THREE PEOPLE.
You laughed.
Poor Vaggie. She deserved a medal, or several.
Next came messages from Husk, Cherri, and Angel. The moment you opened the chat, you knew exactly what kind of nonsense awaited you.
Husk: Bar's stocked.
Angel: When I say stocked, I mean STOCKEDđŚ
Cherri: If ya wanna get absolutely smashed tonight, we've got ya covered.
A picture followed. It appeared to be an alarming quantity of alcohol.
You didn't even want to know how much money had gone into that collection.
Angel: Also we got a getaway car ready if ya get cold feet.
Cherri: Fastest one we could steal.
Husk: Acquire.
Cherri: Same thing.
You snorted. Absolutely ridiculous. As if you were getting cold feet. You'd been counting down the days until this wedding.
If anything, you were more likely to kidnap your own fiancĂŠs and drag them to the altar yourself.
Shaking your head, you continued scrolling.
More messages. More congratulations. More well wishes.
Then your thumb paused.
A familiar group chat appeared on your screen - you, Lilith and Lucifer.
Immediately, your smile widened.
The chat was buried beneath a mountain of unread messages because Ozzie had blocked the group from receiving anything for the last several hours.
Apparently, after Lucifer's twelfth attempt, Ozzie had decided drastic measures were necessary.
You opened the chat anyway. The last message was from -
"Lily?!" you gasped as Lilith sneaked in your room, "How did you get in here?"
There was absolutely no way Bee and Ozzie had allowed this.
You were still trying to solve that mystery when a realization struck you. Lilith hadn't answered; hadn't even seemed to register your question.
She was simply staring. All you could feel was her gaze.
Your breath caught. You felt heat rush into your cheeks. "Lily?"
"You are..."
Her voice faltered. Which was perhaps the most shocking thing of all, because Lilith always knew what to say.
The smile on your face softened. "You okay?"
Lilith shook her head.
"I think," she said quietly, "that I had a speech prepared."
You blinked. "A speech?"
"I spent days thinking about what I would say when I saw you."
You took a step closer, "And now?"
"Now I've forgotten all of it."
The heat that flooded your cheeks was immediate and impossible to ignore.
Instinctively, you reached for your veil, fingers fumbling behind your head as though the delicate fabric could somehow shield you from the intensity of Lilith's gaze.
Resist.
Resist.
Resist.
The words repeated in your mind like a prayer. A completely useless prayer.
Because Lilith was standing in your bridal suite looking at you as though she'd discovered the most beautiful thing in existence.
You swallowed. "Umm..."
Smooth. Very smooth.
"I'm glad to see you, Lily, but Ozzie and Bee will be back soon."
Lilith looked amused. "That's alright."
There was a particular glint in her eyes that instantly made you suspicious. "I got them tangled up with their boyfriends."
You blinked. For a moment, you genuinely thought you'd misheard her. "What?"
Lilith's smile deepened. It was a dangerous smile. The kind she wore whenever she'd successfully outsmarted someone. "If I can't negotiate with them, their boyfriends are more than willing to keep them distracted."
"Oh my God." A laugh escaped you. You shook your head. "How cunning."
The compliment clearly pleased her.
A knowing smile touched her lips. "I think you like my cunning."
"I love everything about you."
The space between you disappeared. Later, neither of you would be able to remember who moved first.
The kiss stole the breath from your lungs. One of your hands found her shoulder while the other tangled lightly in her hair. Lilith's arm slipped around your waist, drawing you closer until there wasn't a sliver of space left between you.
Lilithâs tongue teased yours, drawing a low moan from your throat that she swallowed eagerly. Her hands never stopped moving, gripping your hips as she walked you backward across the room.
Your legs bumped the edge of an antique loveseat. "Lily."
"Yes, darling?"
"We are definitely going to get caught."
"Probably." The fact that she sounded completely unconcerned made you laugh again.
âDown you go, darling,â she purred. She gave you a gentle but firm push. You sank onto the cushions, heart racing.
She sank to her knees before you. Her hands gathered the voluminous layers of your elaborate wedding gown, lifting it with surprising easeâonly the shifting fabric and the sudden warmth of her breath against your bare thighs betrayed her presence.
You gasped as her palms smoothed up your legs, pushing them further apart. Cool air hit your exposed core for only a second before Lilithâs hot mouth was on you.
Her tongue dragged slowly up your slit, savoring you, before circling your clit with deliberate, teasing strokes. A muffled, pleased hum vibrated against your pussy as she tasted you properly.
âFuckâ LilyâŚâ you moaned, your head falling back against the loveseat.
The thick layers of the gown hid her completely, making the sensations even more intense. You couldnât see her, only feel the wicked work of her tongue and lips as she devoured you. She licked and sucked with expert precisionâlong, slow drags followed by quick flicks over your swollen clit, then dipping lower to push her tongue inside you.
Your hands fisted the fabric of your gown, bunching it up as your hips rolled helplessly against her mouth. Lilith responded by gripping your thighs firmly, holding you open while she feasted.
She was relentless. Every time you whimpered or moaned her name, she doubled downâsucking your clit between her lips and flicking it rapidly with the tip of her tongue until your legs started to tremble.
The antique loveseat creaked beneath you as your body tensed, pleasure coiling tighter and tighter in your core.
You were panting, biting your lip to try and stay quiet, but it was getting harder by the second.
Just as you felt yourself teetering dangerously close to the edge, you managed to gasp out a weak protest. âLilith⌠waitââ you breathed, voice strained. âWeâll be late to our own wedding if you keep this up⌠we have the wedding night toââ
Lilith didnât falter for even a second. If anything, she pressed her mouth more firmly against your dripping pussy, sucking your clit harder as her tongue flicked rapidly. Her muffled reply came up from beneath the fabric, husky and dripping with wicked amusement. âI can have you twice then, hmm?â
âHow greedyâŚâ you gasped. The sheer confidence and hunger in her voice made you chuckle breathlessly, the sound quickly melting into a deep, needy moan as she pushed you right back toward the brink.
Your thighs clamped around her head beneath the gown, hips jerking uncontrollably against her mouth.
Lilith didnât pull away immediately. Instead, she slowed her movements, becoming gentler, more tender. Her tongue gave long, soothing strokes along your sensitive folds, easing you down from the high.
You slumped back against the loveseat, chest heaving as you tried desperately to catch your breath.
Then you heard footsteps approached the door, both you and Lilith froze.
"Oh, shit." The words had barely left your mouth before the handle began to turn.
You sat ramrod straight, trying your best to look normal.
The door swung fully open and there stood Lucifer. You sighed in relief.
The moment he saw you, his entire face lit up. It was almost unfair. "Oh." The word escaped him quietly.
You felt your cheeks warm.
Lucifer took a step inside.
His gaze never left you. "Love, you look..."
His hand pressed against his chest. "You look incredible."
Your heart immediately melted.
Lucifer shook his head. "No, incredible isn't right."
"Words have failed me."
"Luciferâ" Why wasn't Lilith getting out of there? This was about to get really awkward.
"I'm serious."
Lucifer let out a dramatic sigh. "Honestly, nothing compares."
"Lucifer."
"I'm apologizing in advance, by the way."
You blinked. "For what?"
"For entering without permission. But in my defense, it wasn't entirely my faultâ" Then Lucifer stopped his ramblings suddenly and narrowed his eyes as he got a closer look at your face.
You felt a bead of sweat form.
"Wait. I know that expression."
Your heart immediately began pounding. You forced out a nervous chuckle. "What expression?" You had no idea why you were acting like you had something to hide.
Luciferâs gaze drifted over your flushed cheeks, your slightly parted lips, and the way your chest was still rising and falling a little too quickly. A slow, knowing grin began to spread across his face.
âThat glow,â he murmured, almost reverently. âYou think I wouldn't know? As if I haven't spent countless times putting that expression on your face.â
He took another step forward.
âLuciferââ you started, voice cracking.
Before you could say anything else, you felt Lilithâs hands slowly slide up your thighs beneath the heavy layers of the gown. Your entire body jolted.
Her breath ghosted hot against your still-sensitive pussy. Then her tongue â slow, deliberate, and utterly shameless â dragged lazily through your folds again.
You bit down hard on your lip to stifle a moan, fingers digging into the velvet cushions.
Luciferâs eyebrows shot up. âDarling? You okay?â
âY-Yes! Perfectly fine!â you squeaked, a little too high-pitched.
Under the gown, Lilith chuckled silently against your skin, the vibration making your hips twitch. She gave your clit a soft, teasing suck, clearly enjoying your struggle to keep a straight face.
Lucifer tilted his head, that mischievous grin widening. âYou know⌠youâre looking exceptionally radiant right now. Almost like someone already got a head start on the wedding night.â He tapped his chin.
He took one more step closer, eyes sparkling with amusement and growing heat. âLily,â he called out lightly, voice laced with laughter, âyou can come out now. I can see the dress moving. Haven't you teased our soon-to-be bride enough?"
A few moments later, Lilith emerged from under the skirts, lips glistening, cheeks flushed, and a very satisfied smirk on her face.
âStill breathing, darling?â she teased softly, âYou look absolutely ravishing when you come for me.â
You huffed in mock-anger, though the effect was ruined by the way your voice still trembled and your cheeks burned. âYou are both impossible,â you grumbled.
As you tried to catch your breath, still flushed and hazy from your orgasm, you noticed the way Luciferâs gaze had darkened. The queen had taken part in the feast, so how could the king resist?
You knew exactly what your fiancĂŠ was thinking.
âOh no you donâtââ you started, half-laughing, half-protesting as you tried to escape. You twisted on the loveseat, turning over, gripping the curved wooden arms for leverage as you attempted to crawl away.
It was a very half-hearted escape.
Luciferâs hands were on your waist in an instant. He pulled you right back against him with a low, delighted chuckle, your back pressing flush to his chest.
âGoing somewhere, my love?â he murmured against your ear, voice rich with amusement and heat. His fingers dug into your hips through the layers of silk and lace, holding you in place. âAfter Lily got to enjoy such a sweet appetizer? That hardly seems fair.â
You shivered as he kissed the side of your neck, his breath hot against your skin.
Luciferâs hands slid lower, gathering handfuls of your skirts and slowly dragging them up the back of your thighs. You felt the cool air hit your still-sensitive, bare skin again as he pressed his growing hardness against your ass, grinding slowly.
You let out a shaky moan, gripping the arms of the loveseat tighter. âWeâre going to be so lateâŚâ you protested weakly, even as you instinctively arched back into him.
âFashionably late,â Lucifer corrected smoothly, nipping at your earlobe. One of his hands slipped beneath the bunched fabric, fingers teasing along your soaked folds.
He freed himself with a low groan and pressed the head of his cock against your slick entrance. âForgive me, darling,â he murmured, âbut I canât wait another second.â
He thrust into you in one smooth, deep stroke, filling you completely. You cried out, gripping the arms of the loveseat as your body stretched around him.
Lucifer didnât hold back. He set a steady rhythm, hips snapping against your ass with every thrust, the sound of skin meeting skin mixing with your desperate moans.
At the same time, Lilith moved in front of you. She cupped your face with both hands, her golden eyes gleaming with wicked delight.
âLook at you,â she purred, voice dripping with teasing affection.
She leaned in and captured your mouth in a deep, hungry kiss, swallowing every moan Lucifer pulled from you. When she pulled back, she trailed her lips down your jaw and latched onto your neck, sucking hard enough to leave dark hickeys blooming across your skin.
Her hands slid down to your chest, tugging the front of your gown low enough to free your breasts, squeezing and kneading them as her thumbs brushed over your hardened nipples
Lucifer growled, one hand tightening on your hip while the other reached around to rub your clit in tight circles.
âFuckâ youâre clenching around me so perfectly,â he groaned, pounding into you harder. âTaking me so well, our beautiful brideâŚâ
You were lost in the overwhelming rhythm of Lucifer thrusting deep inside you when a sudden, hazy realization cut through the pleasure: Lilith had been devouring you earlier and teasing you relentlessly, but she hadnât come yet.
That simply wouldnât do.
With a needy, determined sound, you shifted forward on your hands and knees, reaching for her. You grabbed Lilithâs hips and pulled her closer. She didnât resist at all â instead, she let out a pleased, surprised laugh and eagerly moved with you, spreading her thighs wider.
âNeedy little bride,â she purred, voice husky with arousal.
You didnât answer with words. Instead, you tugged her panties aside with impatient fingers and buried your face between her thighs, dragging your tongue hungrily up her soaked folds.
Lilith moaned beautifully, one hand sinking into your hair as she held you against her. She was dripping wet, sweet and addictive on your tongue. You licked and sucked at her clit with the same fervor sheâd shown you earlier, sliding your tongue inside her before focusing back on that sensitive bundle of nerves.
âFuck⌠yes, just like that,â she gasped, hips rolling against your mouth.
Behind you, Luciferâs rhythm faltered for a moment as he watched the scene unfold. The sight of both of you made him groan deeply, the sound raw and filthy.
âFucking hellâŚâ he breathed, his grip on your hips tightened almost bruisingly as he started fucking you deeper, clearly losing some of his usual control. âThatâs our perfect girl.â
Every powerful thrust from Lucifer pushed your mouth firmer against Lilithâs pussy, making her moan louder. She kept one hand tangled in your hair, guiding you.
âYouâre doing so well, darling,â Lilith praised breathlessly, her golden eyes half-lidded with pleasure. âYouâre going to make me come all over that pretty face.â
You devoured Lilith with renewed hunger, sucking her clit between your lips and flicking your tongue rapidly while sliding two fingers deep inside her, curling them just the way you knew she loved. At the same time, Lucifer pounded into you harder, his cock dragging against that perfect spot inside you with every stroke, his fingers rubbing tight, fast circles over your clit.
Lilithâs thighs began to tremble around your head, grinding against your mouth, her fingers tightening almost painfully in your hair.
Lucifer's hips snapped forward with sharp, deep thrusts, burying himself to the hilt again and again. âYou feel too fucking good⌠both of you like thisâ I canât hold back.â
You moaned loudly against Lilithâs clit, the vibrations pushing her right to the edge. Her back arched, eyes fluttering shut as she cried out.
Lilith came first with a beautiful, broken moan, her pussy clenching hard around your fingers as she flooded your tongue with her release. You kept licking her through it, greedy for every drop.
The sight and sound of Lilith coming on your face finally broke Lucifer. With a deep, guttural groan, he slammed into you one last time and came hard, pulsing deep inside you as his hips jerked with every thick spurt. His fingers dug into your waist, holding you flush against him while he filled you.
For a long moment, the only sounds were heavy breathing and soft, satisfied whimpers.
Lilith gently stroked your hair, still trembling slightly as she caught her breath. Lucifer leaned forward, pressing his forehead against your back, his cock still buried inside you as he placed lazy kisses along your spine.
âSeven HellsâŚâ Lucifer murmured, voice hoarse. âYouâre going to be the death of us.â
Lilith laughed breathlessly, cupping your flushed, glistening face. âAnd what a way to go.â
You were still shaking between them, thoroughly used and glowing with pleasure, your wedding gown a wrinkled, disheveled mess.
Eventually, Charlie discovered exactly what had happened, and neither Lucifer nor Lilith escaped the consequences. The two of them stood side by side while Charlie delivered a thoroughly deserved scolding, looking remarkably like children caught causing trouble rather than the rulers of Hell. Bee and Ozzie watched with undisguised amusement, clearly enjoying every second of their downfall. Meanwhile, you were utterly incapable of participating because you were unable to stand at all. Curled up on the couch, you could only watch as your future spouses endured their punishment, neither of them looking particularly apologetic. In fact, the occasional smug glance they exchanged suggested they considered the entire ordeal well worth it.

you chose your own dress cuz imagine if you let the lucilith go overboard and let them choose the dress on the wedding:
Lilith: money is no issue, our fiancĂŠe needs the BEST
The boutique owner: then i know the PERFECT gown for the bride!
Making your way down the corridor, you followed your shadow guide all the way to the stairs leading toward the broadcast room.
âUgh, all the way up there?â you complained lightly, already eyeing the seemingly endless climb. âMind giving me a little help?â
The shadow brightened immediately at the request.
In an instant smoky tendrils curled around your waist as it swept you up into its arms, carrying you effortlessly upward through the darkened stairwell. You laughed softly as the world blurred around you.
Of course Alastor would make his radio room annoyingly tedious to get to.
Who needed three separate flights of stairs just to reach one room? Not everyone could travel by shadow.
The shadow finally settled you carefully outside the door. Above it hung the glowing sign: OFF AIR.
You knocked softly.
At first there was nothing.
Then suddenly the sound of hurried rustling from inside. Papers shuffling. Drawers slamming.
âAlastor?â you called gently, fingers resting against the door handle. You did not want to intrude, but you also did not particularly want to stand awkwardly in the hallway forever either.
Pushing the door open slightly, you blinked at the sight waiting inside. The room was a disaster. Papers littered nearly every surface and covered portions of the floor in uneven piles. Half written broadcasts sat tangled between old notes, and scraps of parchment. It looked less like the carefully composed domain of The Radio Demon and more like the aftermath of some frantic spiral.
Still⌠perhaps he had a method to the madness?
Turning toward you abruptly, Alastor looked wild eyed. His arms were full of letters he was currently attempting and failing to shove into an already overflowing drawer.
âSorry for⌠interrupting,â you murmured, your gaze trailing from his face to the piles and piles of envelopes around the room.
âI, ah⌠cher.â
The letters in his arms dissolved quickly into shadow as he straightened himself up, smoothing himself back into composure.
âWhat a pleasant surprise,â he said, smile returning just a touch too quickly. âTo what do I owe the pleasure?â
âWell, IâŚâ
You stopped yourself suddenly. Why had you come up here? Was it the alcohol warming your chest? The conversations downstairs loosening old fears from your bones? Or had you simply wanted to see him after days of carefully dancing around one another?
âI was justâŚâ You swallowed softly. âMissing you.â
Warmth immediately crept across your cheeks at the confession. But if you were apparently on some sort of honesty kick lately, then you supposed he deserved honesty during the softer moments too. You had missed him.
His sharp brow softened almost instantly, the tension in his face loosening into something so openly relieved that it made your heart ache a little.
Perhaps he had expected you to come here only to reprimand him again.
Smiling softly, you wandered further into the room while he attempted to regain some semblance of composure behind you. Your eyes drifted over the clutter scattered across every surface.
And then your gaze caught on something familiar. Your name. It peeked out from beneath a stack of letters nearly half a metre high. Your steps slowed.
âAlastor⌠what is this?â
You moved toward the pile instinctively, reaching for the top envelope just as he crossed the room far too quickly.
âTruly, itâs nothing, amour.â
In his haste to stop you, his claw caught awkwardly against the towering stack. The entire thing toppled over. Letters spilled everywhere. Across the desk. The floor. Falling around your feet like leaves in the fall.
Every single envelope bore your name. Your breath caught.
âWha⌠what are these?â
For perhaps the first time since you had reunited with him, Alastor looked genuinely embarrassed. A faint flush dusted across his face as he glanced away from you, one clawed hand rubbing awkwardly at the back of his neck.
âI did tell you I was going rather insane, cher.â
Slowly, you bent down and picked one stack up. 1942. Another was dated 1965. Yet another, 1997.
Your stomach twisted. The letters had been haphazardly bundled together by year with worn rubber bands, stacked into uneven towers throughout the room. There had to be nearly a hundred of them. Maybe more.
A centuryâs worth of longing sitting quietly in front of you. Your chest tightened painfully. Years and years of them. Day after day. Decade after decade.
Hands almost trembling now, you carefully unfolded one of the older letters. The paper was worn soft with age. Inside were lines written in his unmistakable handwriting. His very real confessions of grief. Loneliness and desperation. Itâs pages filled with apologies he could never give you and aching accounts of how violently he missed you.
Some seemed almost angry. Others seemed mournful. Some of the more heartbreaking ones were barely coherent with heartbreak, letters smudged with oceans of tears.
And all of them were addressed to you. Your eyes lifted slowly back toward him.
âAlastorâŚâ
His smile faltered at the edges then, suddenly looking far smaller than the Radio Demon ever should.
âI had nowhere else to put it all,â he admitted quietly. âCanât exactly broadcast such things over the airwaves. Not particularly beneficial for my image.â
Something in your chest cracked wide open at that. Before you could even think better of it, you were moving.
Letters scattered beneath your feet in a rush of paper and dust as you crossed the room, disrupting years worth of carefully bottled grief in your haste.
Your arms wrapped tightly around his neck. For a moment Alastor went completely still beneath you, clearly startled by the sudden embrace.
But you barely noticed. Your own eyes had already begun to sting with tears.
Your supposedly heartless man had mourned you all this time. Holed up, hidden away in the privacy of his radio tower, sat a centuryâs worth of heartbreak addressed lovingly in your name.
So he did have a heart after all. Slowly, almost cautiously, his arms wound around your waist in return.
âWhy could you never just show me this?â you whispered tearfully against his chest. âWhy hide away all the parts of you that are afraid? Why bury them beneath all the things that scare me instead?â
Your fingers curled weakly into the fabric of his coat as another shaky breath left you.
âWhy do you bury every good thing in you beneath all the bad, Alastor?â
For once, there was no clever answer waiting on his tongue. No grin sharp enough to deflect the question.
When you finally looked up at him, his expression had softened into something quietly sorrowful.
âI donât know, cher,â he admitted softly.
And for some reason that hurt more than if he had tried to joke his way around it.
Settling your head back against his chest, you let yourself melt into the warmth of him. More than you had in the bayou. More than you had allowed yourself to since finding him again.
You became acutely aware of the way he held himself stiffly, like he still did not quite know what to do with this type of tenderness after all these years. Yet little by little his arms tightened around you anyway, carefully pulling you closer as though he could not help himself.
You inhaled softly, breathing him in.
âI donât think youâre entirely broken, Alastor,â you whispered.
A quiet chuckle rumbled faintly in his chest beneath your cheek.
âI fear youâve been spending far too much time with the princess, my dear.â His voice softened around the edges despite himself. âIf you are planning to redeem me, Iâm afraid that simply will not do.â
But he did not let you go when he said it.
âYou donât know that,â you murmured quietly against him. âItâs not like itâs all bad up there, is it?â
Alastor gave a soft huff at that, something almost weary slipping into his expression.
âI believe it would take an exceptionally long time to undo all that I have unraveled,â he admitted. âAnd at the moment, I am rather focused on atoning for the sins committed against my wife.â
âStop calling me that,â you complained, though there was no real bite behind it. âYou never actually married me. We just told everyone we did.â
That made him pause. The amusement faded from his face for only a moment, replaced with regret.
âI know,â he said softly.
And the sigh that followed felt strangely heavy between the two of you.
âI suppose I did a rather poor job keeping up my side of things, didnât I?â
You pulled back just enough to look up at him properly, catching the vulnerable flicker in his eyes before he could bury it again beneath his smile.
âYou always cared more about appearances than how you got there,â you teased gently, a small smirk tugging at your mouth. One of his brows lifted immediately.
âAre you truly choosing now to launch these attacks?â he asked dramatically. âI am already feeling sufficiently exposed as is. Between my nonsensical mourning letters and your newfound enthusiasm for emotional honesty, must I also be raked over the coals for my earthly shortcomings?â
Despite yourself, you laughed softly. Tugging him closer, suddenly overcome by a rush of raw aching want, you became sharply aware of the warmth of your own body pressed against his once more.
This⌠this felt the same as Earth. The same dizzy pull. The same magnetic ache that always seemed to draw you back toward him. And it made you wonder⌠What else felt the same?
Rising onto your tiptoes, you tried to tug him down toward you by the waist, seeking to grind him against you. Unfortunately, Hell had gifted him quite a bit of height since the last time you had done this and you found yourself barely reaching his lower chest.
A low grunt rumbled from him. And his eyes were wide as you ground softly against him.
âWas I a good wife Alastor?â
âFuckâŚwhat are you playing at?â He moaned, obviously reacting the way you wanted him to at your touch.
âI asked you if I was a good wife.â
âYou were-â ah, he moans as you reach to palm him softly through his trousers. Heâs already hard.
He hisses sharply when you do. And you smirk. Putty in your hands. Perfect!
You were only vaguely aware of the shadow at first, having remained mostly quiet and content in the corner while the two of you spoke.
But the moment you tried pulling Alastor closer, it suddenly perked up with startling interest.
Its eyes widened dramatically as it hopped upright, looking between the two of you with barely contained excitement. Smoky tendrils twitched rapidly behind it like an overexcited cat watching everything unfold. Little perv.
âYou were, ah, perfect cherâ he gasps between your palming him through his pants.
From what you could tell, height wasnât the only thing that hadâŚgrown⌠in death and you were slightly worried about how to accommodate that⌠but where there is a will there would be a way!
Snaking your hand up into that horrendous undercut, you finally managed to tug him down into a kiss that was a century overdue.
And oh, how your bodies seemed to remember. Despite having never been with each other in this life. The heart remembered and the mind chased, trying to reconnect pieces separated by a century of grief and longing.
The kiss deepened helplessly, all warmth and breath and the quiet sounds the two of you pulled from one another.
âWould you prefer we relocate to the bedroom?â Alastor managed between kisses, his voice rougher now, strained at the edges in a way that made heat curl low in your stomach.
You actually considered it for a moment.
Between breathless kisses and soft gasps, your hands tangled tighter into his coat as his mouth wandered from your lips down toward your neck.
âMmm⌠no,â you breathed softly, shivering as he nipped gently at your pulse point before soothing the spot with lingering kisses.
Your fingers curled against his chest.
âLetâs justâŚâ You let out another shaky gasp as he kissed along your throat. âI want to take things slow.â
At that, he paused his assault immediately.
And despite the obvious want still burning behind his eyes, there was tenderness in the way his hands settled against your waist afterward.
âAs you wish, cher.â
Leaning forward again, you nipped his bottom lip gently between your teeth before letting go and pulling back just enough to smile against his mouth.
âNow, did I say to stop? Kiss me, radio man!â
âOh, yes maâam!â he murmured fondly before immediately tugging you back into another kiss.
synopsis: you're a sweet recluse who allows her home to be Jason's safe house. What happens when he starts to get too close to you?
The screen door creaks open late one evening. Jason Todd steps inside your little kitchen like it's a habit, almost as though he's lived here all his life. In truth, you'd only known Jason for about two months now since he came stumbling to your doorstep one stormy evening. Things seemed to pass in a blur since then.
Jason's shoulders are tense beneath the fabric of his jacket, bruised from the constant fights he participates in. His jaw is sore and his knuckles are split from punching again. He's already in one of his moods.
He kicks off his boots by the door without looking, the way he always does, listening to the familiar sound of dirty soles thunking against the wood floor. Then, he heads straight to the sink like he's on autopilot, having memorized the layout of your house like it's his own. He doesn't even need to look down to where the fluffy hand towels are as he dries his hands.
There's a plate of dinner waiting on the table that's still hot and steaming, and you're standing near the counter, looking at him like he didn't just come home covered in bruises and blood. You're smiling in the cutesy, innocent way you always do. The way that boils Jason's blood in both a bad, and really good way.
"Hi, Jay," you say, your voice smooth like honey as you look up at him with big, sparkly eyes, like he's just your husband coming home late from work.
Jason swears under his breath and marches through the kitchen, hovering around you for a moment, before muttering a gruff "Hello." in return, slumping down into his usual seat at the dinner table, looking down at tonight's meal.
The plate's got roast chicken, buttery mashed potatoes, and a pile of vegetables on the side. It's very balanced. It looks like food you'd see in a magazine with a recipe underneath. You cooked. Again. Like you do every night.
"Thought you might be hungry," you say, cheeks all pink from the stove's heat, or maybe just from looking at him. You get so bashful when he stares. "You want me to get you a knife or anything else?"
"No. S' fine." he grumbles, picking up a fork to start stabbing at his vegetables. You nod, still smiling all cute as you take out a jug of lemonade for him and pour him a class without asking, setting it down beside his plate, right before leaning down to press the softest, most innocent kiss to his cheek. Right near the cut on his jaw, his sweet spot. "Glad you're home safe."
Jason goes still at the feeling, a little grunt leaving him involuntarily. The second your lips brush over him, it's as though every muscle in his body tenses. His eyes flick to you, but you're already walking away, humming to yourself like you didn't screw him over with that little gesture.
What the hell are you doing, letting a guy like him into your house? Letting him sleep in the extra bedroom you cleaned just for him and eat off your table without asking for compensation? What kind of sweet, naive girl lets a man with knives and guns in his duffel bag and scars up his back and shoulders stay in her house like he's not dangerous?
"You shouldn't do that," he grumbles as you have your back turned to him, a deep scowl on his face. You blink, turning back toward him, confusion soft in your eyes. "Do what?"
"You know what I mean. The kissin'. The..." his voice gets tight, jaw ticking, "...the 'Jay' with your little giggle. Don't."
"Don't act like we're friends?' you ask, so innocently, head tilted in a way that makes him want to pounce on you. "We are friends."
Jason clenches his jaw. His fingers curl around the fork, knuckles white. "You should be more wary, is all" he mutters, frowning as you respond with a little huff and a playful eye roll, going over to check on the pies you made for dessert that are cooling on a rack.
He stares at the curves of your body, gaze panning from your hips, down to your thighs, and back up to your ass, plump in the cute little nightgown you're wearing, with the hem riding up your thighs enough to show your panties if you bent over. He can't take his eyes off of you, not for a second. He's looking at you to figure out how someone like you could possibly be real, let alone a part of his life. You feed him. You made him a safe house with gingham curtains and a soft bed and dinner waiting on the table every night without fail.
He's coiled so tight it feels like his skin doesn't fit right, seeing you flutter around the kitchen like everything's fine, apron tied snugly around your waist. You turn and meet his gaze again as he continues.
"Why aren't you scared of me?" Jason mutters all gruff, pushing back his chair and standing. His eyes are all dark and stormy. "You let a guy like me in your house. You give me food, a bed, clothes. You let me walk around your kitchen like I belong here." He steps forward slowly. "You don't even lock your fucking door."
Your throat bobs as you swallow, but your expression doesn't change. That soft, quiet sweetness still on your face like you've never even heard a threat before.
"I don't have to lock it because the only person who comes around here is you, and I know you."
Jason's frown deepens, and he crowds your space, hissing at you coldly. "You don't know shit about me." He stares down at you, jaw clenched, breathing through his nose. He keeps coming closer and closer to you, all while you don't even realize what you're doing to him, standing there in your cozy little kitchen, smelling like a dessert.
His body pushes you back into the counter, his jaw is clenched and lips twisted in a snarl. You open your mouth, but he cuts you off, his voice rising. "You let me in here. You open your house up to someone like me and think I'm not gonna hurt you? You think I'm just gonna be your lil' prince charming?"
He shoves his hand against the counter beside you, trapping you in place. His face is inches from yours, but this time, you don't see the same tired, frustrated guy you've been taking care of. This time, all you see is the threat, the dangerous man who doesn't think you should have trusted him at all.
"I could strangle you, you know," he says all soft. His hand shoots out, quick and brutal, grabbing your neck just below your chin. "You think I wouldn't do it? You think I wouldn't snap your neck like a twig if I wanted to?"
Your pulse spikes. His grip isn't tight enough to suffocate you, just enough to make your heart pound harder. "Or what if I wanted to cut you?" His thumb presses into the side of your neck. he's learned you can make someone pass out if you push there hard and long enough. wouldn't take long if he did it to you, though. another reminder of how fragile you really are. "What if I wanted to steal everything in your house and leave you with nothing?"
You look up at him, whimpering softly at the feeling of his huge hand wrapping around your throat. Your smaller one grabs at his wrist, staring up at him with big, glassy eyes. "J-jason..."
"What if I wanted to tear off one of those flimsy lil' dresses you wear around me and fuck you?" He lets out a low mumble, tipping your head up and rubbing his thumb over your lower lip. "You think they're cute, huh? You think I don't notice the way you dress like 'm not gonna want to tear you apart?"
Your breath hitches, and for a second, you can't find your words. He's crowding you now, pinning you to the counter so you have no way out. His thumb pushes harder on your lower lip.
You stare at him, your face flushed. Your chest is rising fast now, like you're trying to keep calm, like your body's betraying you even if your voice hasn't cracked yet. You're not saying anything, but your fear's loud enough without words.
Jason's still holding onto your throat, the heel of his hand digging into your pressure point while his thumb smushes against your soft lips. His chest heaves with each breath, his face twisted up even though deep down, he's thoroughly enjoying himself. He relishes in the slight tremble your body gives and the way you look up at him like you're starting to realize he's not savable.
He leans down to your level. "You scared now, sweetheart?" he mutters. You try to speak, but it catches in your throat. He can feel it under his hand, that flutter in your pulse. "Yeah," he breathes. "That's what I thought."
He tilts his head, leaning down to slot his mouth over your cheek, mocking the little kisses you always give him when he's home. He moans against your skin, starting to press sloppy kisses down to your jaw. He's done holding back, finally indulging in the terrible, heinous thoughts he's had about you since you let him into your home.
His hands roam under your dress, hiking it up to squeeze the globes of your ass, all while you moan softly, eyes fluttering shut.
He kisses up the side of your throat and up to your ear, huffing low so you hear every bit of how hot he is for you. "Lemme show you what bad men do to pretty girls who play house with 'em."
his hands move again. they don't stay in place for long. he's very unpredictable. one moves back to grip on your throat, while the other hand drags up the back of your thigh, slipping beneath the hem of your nightgown until his rough fingers find bare skin. his breathing is ragged now, lips pressed to the curve of your neck like he's trying to inhale you.
"You smell s'sweet," he growls, nose brushing the soft skin beneath your jaw. "Always smell so fuckin' sweet."
He's spreading you apart before your brain can comprehend it, lifting you up with his free hand to guide you up onto the counter, manhandling you like you weigh nothing. Slotting his body between your legs, he looks down at your pretty cotton panties. Just as adorable as you, all lacy and pastel like you didn't have a clue what they'd do to him.
Jason huffs a breath through his nose, low and unsteady, staring at the soaked little patch in the middle. "Fuck," he mutters, dragging his thumb over the wet spot slowly and teasingly. "Look at this. You want me like this." His hand grips your thigh to keep you open, his gaze locked on your panties as he takes two fingers and pushes them up against your panties so he can trace your plump little pussy through the fabric, firm enough to make you twitch.
You jolt, grabbing onto his shoulder while your tummy flips. "Mmh... i-its good... b-but 'm sensitive..." you warn softly, trying to fight against his grip ever so slightly, but he keeps you spread for him with his firm hand. Your breath catches when he starts tugging your panties to the side, baring the warm air of the kitchen onto your even warmer hole.
His hand grips your hip, anchoring you in place while he teases your entrance with the pads of his fingers, just barely pressing in. You let out a strangled little sound, back arching as he slowly presses a finger inside you with a low groan. Your body clenches around him and it makes him twitch, a guttural sound leaving his chest. "Fuck, you're tight," he mutters, nose nuzzling yours. "So fuckin' warm. This pussy's been waiting for me, hasn't she?" You nod helplessly, eyes wide, lips parted as he pumps his finger inside you slow and filthy. He watches you fall apart for him, cheeks flushed and pretty little moans leaving your mouth with every curl of his finger.
His thick digit curls just right inside you, slow and deep, while his thumb rubs circles around your clit, not too quick, just firm and steady like he's testing how fast he can get you to fall apart. You whimper again, your hips rolling into his hand without thinking.
He watches the little faces you make while you're in heat like this, as well as the way your body reacts to his touch. His eyes are locked on the place where his finger disappears inside you with that delicious squelch, and once you're relaxed, he slides in a second to fill you up even more. You jerk, nightgown bunching up more at your waist as he shoves his fingers deep inside you, wanting to see how tight you can squeeze around them.
"Damn," he mumbles, "You're squeezin' the fuck outta me." His free hand grabs your thigh harder when you flinch back, nails digging just a little into your flesh to keep you still and wide open for him. He leans in, breathing heavy against your cheek as he grinds the heel of his palm against your clit while his fingers keep stroking inside you, that slow, steady rhythm that's driving you crazy because it's just enough to have you trembling, but not enough to tip you over.
You whine out a soft "Jay," all desperate and teary eyed, your grip on his shoulders tightening as your legs start to shake. You don't even realize you're grinding down onto his hand until he growls, "Yeah⌠that's it. Use your words. You need it that bad, don't you?"
He keeps his face close to yours, eyes flicking between your mouth and your eyes, watching how dazed you look already, lips all swollen and wet from how much you've been panting. "Feels 's good! M-more..." You whine, your body starting to move on its own, hips rolling into his hand, trying to chase the pressure that's curling in your gut.
Jason doesn't let up. He just keeps fucking you with his fingers, deep and slow, his thumb pressed firm to your clit, working you in tight little circles until your legs are twitching and your mouth is open like you're gasping for air.
"You're already gonna cum, huh?" he murmurs, voice low and thick. "Already cryin' on my fingers like a needy little thing." You nod, head falling back against the cabinet behind you, your breath coming in short, desperate little bursts. " 'M gonna...Jay, I...I'm gonna..."
"Come, then," he orders, eyes locked on yours. "Cum on my fingers like a good girl. Show me how sweet this fuckin' pussy is."
You shatter around him body locking up tight before it all melts down at once, your orgasm crashing over you so hard you can't even stay upright without holding onto him. Your whole body trembles and he watches it all, jaw clenched, eyes dark and blown wide with how fucked he is for you.
He keeps his fingers inside you even after, not pulling out until you're twitching too much to take it, and even then, he pulls back slow, glancing down at the mess he made of you. He brings his fingers to his mouth without even thinking, licking them clean while he keeps his eyes on your face.
Then he leans in, mumbling in your ear. "You made a mess on my hand,"
Jason's gaze drops down to the tent in his jeans, thick and straining against the zipper, and he lets out a breath that sounds more like a growl.
"Take my cock out," he says roughly, eyes never leaving yours. Your fingers tremble a little as they reach for his belt, heart hammering in your chest while you work it loose, the clink of the buckle loud in the quiet kitchen. Jason's eyes are burning into your face the whole time, watching the way you fumble a little, the way your lips part and your breathing gets uneven while you tug his belt free, then pop open the button on his jeans.
You slide the zipper down slow, hands shaking just the tiniest bit, but you don't stop.
He helps you just enough to shove his jeans down his hips, groaning softly when you reach into his briefs and wrap your fingers around him. He's thick and hot and already leaking against your palm, and the second you touch him, his whole body stiffens.
"Jesus," he mumbles, chest rising and falling hard. You glance up at him through your lashes, a little dazed and shy, but your hand stays wrapped around him as you stroke him once, then twice, making his head fall forward, forehead bumping into yours while he groans.
He looks into your eyes, his voice all rough and shaking with how close he is to snapping. "You're gonna do it, alright? Not me." he says, jaw clenched. "You're gonna show me how dirty you are, and take me in your hand, and you're gonna line me up with that sweet little pussy like this was your fuckin' idea."
You nod even though you're buzzing and feel your body burning, and he watches you slowly wrap your hand snugly around his cock, his face close to yours as you guide him between your legs.
"Yeah," he mumbles, watching your face. "Just like that." You whimper when the head of his cock bumps against your entrance, slick and warm, and Jason moans low in his throat at the feel of you, the head of him just barely pushing inside.
Your fingers tremble as you line the head of him up with your entrance, glancing up at him as you press him against your folds. "It's so hard," you whisper, all breathless. "Your cock..."
"I know," He responds, watching you continue to guide him, soaked folds parting around the flushed head, barely nudging it in just enough for both of you to feel that first slide. " 's... fuck... c-cause I want you s'bad." He hunches over you a little, mouth hanging open as you finally line him up just right. His tip catches on your soaked entrance and he groans deeply, forehead pressing to yours again like he's trying to stay tethered to something.
He pants, grinding the head against you, not pushing in all the way yet, smearing your wetness all over the flared head of his cock while your thighs twitch around his hips. You make a tiny noise, all high and breathy, and he grins against your cheek. His nose brushes your temple while he shifts his hips just enough for his tip to nudge inside, slow and heavy. "Fuck... there we go, sweetness. 'S suckin me in now."
He grabs your thigh with his free hand, pushing it up until your knee's hooked over his forearm, giving him more room, more access, more of you. He doesn't push all the way in yet, just slides in a few inches, slow and aching, just enough to make your mouth drop open and your nails bite into his shoulders.
"Keep lookin' at me," he hisses. "Don't you dare look away. You let me in, shit... now you're gonna watch what I do to you."
Your eyes flutter open again, all teary and glassy and overwhelmed, and he groans and thrusts in deeper, hips jerking forward like he can't help it anymore, burying himself with a low, breathless curse. Both hands grab your thighs to hold you wide open while his cock sinks alllll the way inside, thick and throbbing inside you.
He sinks in all the way, slow but deliberate, forcing your body to stretch and take every thick inch, and the second he bottoms out, he stays there, buried deep inside you, breathing hard through his nose like he's trying to stay composed, but he's not even close. His hands grip your thighs so tight it makes your skin dimple, holding you still like he's afraid you'll run, like he knows you're not ready for how far he's about to take this.
"Fuck, it's good," he mutters, voice wrecked as he stares down at where you're joined. "Look at that. Fuckin' swallowed me whole, didn't you?" He gives a rough roll of his hips, just enough to make you jerk and gasp under him. "Tight little pussy- already squeezin' like she wants to keep me."
Your head tips back as a choked little moan slips out, your hands clinging to his shoulders now, nails dragging across his back without thinking. He groans, fucking into you harder now, faster. Your body jerks with the impact of his rough thrust, and he moans, loud and low against your neck, his teeth grazing your skin before he bites down like an animal.
He keeps fucking into you with rapid, punishing thrusts, his body bracketed over yours, your legs forced wide apart so he can get deeper. You moan loudly, not bothering to hold back on being responsive. You're slicing into his back with your nails, mewling and panting his name harshly.
He growls at the pleasure pain you give him, rutting into you harder, like the sound of his name like that flipped some switch in him. "Say it again," he pants. "Say my fuckin' name."
You do, a little louder this time, all breathless and shaking. "Jason, mmh! please!"
"Fuck," he bites, his whole body shuddering as he pounds into you now, hips snapping forward again and again. "You're gonna let me ruin you, huh? That what you want, sweet girl? Gonna let me fuck the good right outta you?" You nod, tears slipping from the corners of your eyes, not even sure if it's from how good it feels or how deep he's inside you, but it makes him groan, deep and ragged, like he's never seen anything more perfect.
His voice is nothing but a harsh whisper now. "I ever catch you lettin' another man in this house, I swear to god-"
You cut him off with a soft little moan, too blissed out to process the threat, and Jason grunts, cock pulsing inside of you as he scrapes against your gummy inner walls. You let out a loud, high whine, clenching tight around him, and he curses under his breath, leaning forward to kiss you rough and messy, dragging his tongue across your bottom lip.
The taste of you is too much for him, and he groans loudly, grabbing onto the back of your head so he can fully suck your tongue into his mouth and buck into you faster, like a dog in a rut. "Gonna cum f'you," He grunts, tearing out of you suddenly.
You whine at the loss of the full feeling inside your belly. and he grabs onto your plush thighs again, squeezing his throbbing, flushed cock and pumping it a few times before splurting all over your pussy. You pant, heart pounding in your chest.
He cums load after load on you, before dropping onto his knees and stuffing his face into your cunt, needing you to cum for him too. He doesn't want to wait for your sensitivity or that coil to fade away, and so he thrusts his tongue deep inside your sopping hole, eating out your cunt like it's the only dessert he needs.
You scream, ecstasy washing over you so suddenly that you can't even warn him when you cum into his hot mouth, watching him eagerly drink it all up and tongue fucking you through your orgasm.
He groans at your taste once again, unable to get over how sweet you taste. He stands and scoops some of the cum off his thighs and pushes his fingers lightly to your mouth. "Open." He mutters, watching you oblige with a dazed look in your eyes. He feels his cock twitch to life once more at the sight of you tasting him and looking into his eyes like he's just ruined you, which he has. Your hair is a mess and your lips are swollen, and your lower half is soaked with his cum.

hours had passed since dick had left mid meal.Â
a meal you had worked hard to prepare for yourself and dick, with a special dessert and a movie to end of the night. valentine's night.Â
yes, he had promised that this night would be blocked off for you. and he so desperately wished he could have kept that promise. but bludhaven needed nightwing, he jumped into action the second he knew there a commotion down at the ports.Â
the second one this week.Â
on valentine's day for crying out loud!
you didn't blame dick for having to leave. sure, it was frustrating, but he didn't do this to you on purpose.Â
it was late now.Â
you had finished your meal, cleaned the apartment, and kept yourself busy for the last couple of hours â waiting for dick to return safe and sound.Â
you were tired, heavy and boneless on the couch. your lids were threatening to remain closed with every blink. your book was laid open across your chest, left on the page you were forcing yourself to finish.Â
you didn't even remember falling asleep. a slumber so deep that you didn't stir when your window opened and dick slithered back into the apartment.Â
dick softened immediately at the sight. guilt and adoration clawing at his chest as he saw you curled up against the cushions. he knew that being nightwing impeded on your relationship â all the post-poned or rushed date nights, the long nights of silence that ended with him returning home bruised and sore weighed on you. but you remained patient and strong for him â stronger than he could ever be.Â
kneeling down beside you on the floor, his fingers came up and gently caressed your cheek. he had wanted to make this night perfect, give you what you had deserved. flowers, your favourite candies, a gift, and him. he knew it wasn't enough. nothing would be enough to make up for what you had to deal with while being his â but he could try, he would try.Â
he cleaned himself up quickly, not wanting to be away from you for longer than he already had been. when he was clean â hair glistening and damp from his shower, and an old gotham university paired with some low-hanging plaid pants on his body â he made his way back to you.Â
moving the book off your chest and setting it on the table with your bookmark slotted between the pages was easy. bringing himself to move you was not.Â
he sat down on the edge of the couch cushion, hovering his top half over you so his lips could meet your forehead. then, the bridge of your nose, your cheek, the corner of your mouth, and then finally your lips. one peck, two, three, before pressing his lips fully and deeply against yours.Â
your body was attuned to his, your lips responding before your brain was fully coherent. you smiled softly into the kiss, blinking sleepily up at him.Â
"you're home," your voice was laced with sleep, and dick's heart fucking melted at the sound. he nodded with a smile that melted between you. he pressed another kiss to your chin before making his way down your chest and stomach.Â
you perched yourself on your elbows, watching him tug your shirt up for more access to your skin. "wait, dickie, what are youâ"Â
"shh, let me have this," he murmured against your stomach, his fingers dug into the fabric of your pjs, slowly pulling them down your legs. "i'm starving, sweetheart, didn't even get to finish the beautiful valentine's dinner that my gorgeous girlfriend made for me."Â
his words were murmured into the crease of your hips, and quietly whispered into your inner thigh. "and i'm starving,"
"i put your dinner in the fridge, we can still have it," you whispered back breathlessly, your thigh muscles jumping around his shoulders from where he was now nestled between your legs.Â
"got something else in mind," his eyes were fixated on your cloth covered core, at the wet patch that was forming on your panties. his fingers dipped into the material and tearing the material away from you as if it had personally offended him.Â
before you had time to react, his hands pushed your thighs open, placing you on display for him. his mouth suctioned over your pussy, tongue dragging between your folds. it was embarassing how fast you were ready to cum â how easy it was for him to ruin you with a suck of your clit.Â
he branded his apology for leaving earlier into your folds, swirling the letters against your nub at a dizzying speed.Â
all you could hear was his mouth slurping, and your own whimpers that you attempted to muffle against the couch cushion.Â
"'m sorry, baby, 'm sorry for leaving earlier, please forgive me." dick lifted his head, lips glistening with your juices. his eyes were hazed, and his hair was mussed from where your fingers were gripping his head in place.Â
you were barely given the chance to respond again before his mouth was back on you.Â
"oh fuck, dick," you practically shrieked as your high exploded through your body with a violent jump. your muscles locked and your vision went white, barely registering his own groans that were muffled by your thighs locking around his head.Â
your body fell limp against the couch as he lifted himself up and flopped down on top of you. his head nudged into the crook of your neck, gently pressing soothing kisses across the skin.Â
ex!dick grayson x reader, suggestive (almost smut but im scared of the real thing sooo yea), mugging, mentions of alcohol
The restaurant was lit with dim yellow lights making the warm glow from the candle the only source of light. It cast a beautiful glow over both you and your dateâs face, making the ambiance that much more romantic.
You were currently on a second date âwhich wasnât planned per se because you didnât know if you even wanted a second date. But when the guy called you again and said âwhat the hell letâs celebrate valentineâs togetherâ and you agreed because you didnât want to seem like a complete loser that you were.
Because you did ask him to spend it on the 13th instead of the 14th. You said you had a galentineâs evening planned as an excuse but nope. No matter how many times you tried telling yourself you didnât miss the way Dick made you breakfast in bed every year with a cheesy card and a single red rose set nearly in a tray, you didnât believe it.
You didnât miss how he didnât let you leave the bed until you had gone at least three rounds or until his mouth was swollen and red with how he refused to get his head up from between your thighs.
And you certainly didnât miss how he took you to the most expensive restaurants âtaking the day off patrol for once just so you could have the whole rooftop of the restaurant to yourselves while a musician played jazz in the dark background. How you two walked along the pier in your expensive dress and suit, eating gelato. And how Dick always picked you up in his arms bridal style just as he walked through the threshold of your house because he insisted he was practicing for the real thing.
You did NOT miss how he threw you on the bed (which had rose petals on it) and lit candles around the room while he took off your dress as languidly as he could. Because he was cheesy and he celebrated the day of love exactly the way you would expect someone like him to.
In conclusion: you did not miss Dick Grayson.
Thatâs why you were on a date with a perfectly nice guy. A bit on the safer side but honestly thatâs what you needed, not someone who jumped off of rooftops at night.
He wasnât as tall as Dick and had blond hair with green eyes but that was perfect for you. He brought you tulips which were perfectly fine even though your favourite flowers were red roses. It was okay, he would learn in time.
âSo thatâs when my boss offered me to take over the game of golf in front of our new client and I stood there stunned!â He rambled.
So he was a bit on the boring finance guy side but itâs fine. At least he made his own money and isnât the son of Bruce Wayne.
You gave him a clipped smile and took a bite of your spaghetti.
âExcuse me,â the waiter suddenly appeared. âThis is for you,â he smiled and offered you a bottle of expensive wine.
âWe didnât order wine,â you smiled politely, glancing at your date who looked just as confused as you did.
âItâs from that gentleman over there,â the waiter replied and pointed behind him to a seat where two men clad in suits sat.
One of them had his back turned towards you and the other was holding up the menu to cover his face but the second he lowered it a bit, you saw the familiar black waves of Tim fucking Drake.
Your ex boyfriendâs brother, meaning the other man most likely was the said ex boyfriend.
The waiter put the wine down and disappeared again, leaving you two alone. You clenched your jaw and tried to ignore the elephants in the room, literally.
âDo you know them?â Your date asked.
âYeah,â you curtly replied and eyed the wine bottle. It was your favourite.
âOkay then,â your date said and began rambling about something again but your eyes didnât leave the wine bottle.
It had been weeks of this. It had been exactly eight weeks since you and Dick broke up and he hadnât stopped contacting you. He moved back into the manor âhe refused to leave your shared apartment so you told him you would leave but since he knew you didnât have another place, he relented. He had been tailing you, you knew he had, while he was out on patrol.
Each morning you woke up and found scrambled eggs just the way you liked, still warm sitting on your kitchen island with a glass of orange juice and your vitamin capsules. Once, you found your place perfectly vacuumed and laundry done and folded when you came home from work. He had left you flowers on your doorstep âalways red roses.
He sent you memes like nothing had happened even though you never replied, he still called you constantly. Sometimes late at night after patrols âthe only time you would pick up in case something bad happened and it usually did. He talked about how hard heâs been working and how everything has taken a toll on him, he said how much he missed you. And he always ended his calls with a quiet âi love youâ and you never said it back. Not until he hung up and you whispered it into the darkness of the room.
Because he didnât know that you still left space on the right side of the bed for him, that you still clung to his pillow at night. He didnât know that you broke down once in the bathroom in case he was on a rooftop and was looking at you through the windows. You still took your coffee the way he taught you. That you still couldnât sleep unless you were wearing his old and tattered t-shirt from when he was at Gotham Academy.
âIâll be right back,â you said suddenly, cutting your dateâs another story off before grabbing the wine bottle and advancing towards his table.
Tim put down the menu and straightened up as you approached with sharp steps like you were on a mission.
âSeriously?â You scoffed, putting the bottle in front of Dick.
âHello to you too baby,â Dick grinned, leaning back on his chair.
âWhat are you doing here, Dick?â You sighed.
âHaving dinner and enjoying the view,â Dick shrugged.
âAnd youâre encouraging him?â You huffed, turning towards Tim with your hands on your waist.
âItâs been slow,â Tim shrugged.
âWhat the hell are you so smug about?â You quipped at Dick who still had a shit eating grin on his face.
âYouâre talking to me,â he replied.
âIâm literally cursing you.â
âYou know sweetheart thatâs just foreplay for us,â Dick tutted.
âDick, please. Iâm on a date. Donât ruin this for me,â you pleaded, emphasising on every word.
âYou donât need a date, you already have a boyfriend,â Dick mentioned with a smirk.
âCan you leave, please?â
âWe havenât even ordered yet,â Tim chimed in.
âFine, Iâll leave and he and I will go home and have sex in the bed you and I shared,â you challenged and turned around on your heels but Dick was quick to grasp your wrist.
âIâm leaving okay?â He said, all the traces of earlier amusement gone from his face.
âBut Iâm starving!â Tim protested.
âWeâll get a hot dog, come on,â Dick urged.
One point for you and zero for Dick.
âSorry about that,â you apologised, sliding back into your seat.
âWas that an ex I should be worried about?â Your date inquired with a low chuckle.
âNo, he is an ex for a reason. You donât need to worry about him,â you replied curtly.
âHe looks familiar,â your date muttered.
âYeah,â you said under your breath and continued eating your pasta.
âWait, is he one of Bruce Wayneâs sons? Iâve read about it! It was published in our magazine you should check it out, I have front paââ
Your date was once again interrupted with your phone buzzing on the table which you were thankful for. But one glance was enough to drain your short lived joy.
It was Dick.
You ignored it and turned the phone down but it kept buzzing meaning Dick kept calling. And he wouldnât stop until you picked up.
âWhat!â You muttered harshly, leaning down a bit to get some privacy.
âHey honey,â he cheerfully greeted from the other side. âIâm getting a hot dog with Tim from that place you and I went to when you were on your period and were craving hot dogs at one in the morning.â
âDick I swear to fucking god-â
âKeep going Iâm close,â he cut you off with an exaggerated hiss.
âI will cut your balls off and feed them to birds, you complete asshole!â
âIf you wanna play with my balls baby you just have to ask,â he chuckled.
âDick Grayson!â You said louder than you anticipated when people around you started giving you glances. âDonât call me again,â you hushed and hung up, straightening to your full height.
âSorry Iâm sorry,â you repeated your earlier words.
âHey look,â your date began, âI donât wanna get in between something complicated. I donât have it in me to deal with all that, and compete with the golden boy over here so I think itâs best if we donât see each other again,â he finished and wiped his mouth before getting up from the seat.
âWait!â You called out, following after him.
âYouâre fun and I enjoyed your company but heâs clearly still in love with you just like you are so Iâm not gonna be your middle man,â he shrugged before getting into his car and driving away.
When you went back to your table, you realised the asshole didnât even pay nor did he offer you a ride when he was the one who picked you up meaning you had to walk home because all you had in your purse was a lip gloss and your card.
âExcuse me,â you beckoned the waiter to bring the cheque.
âYour bill has already been paid, Miss,â the waiter smiled at you.
âWhat? When?â You asked with confusion etched on your face.
âBy a Mr. Grayson?â He replied with a glance at his notepad.
âOf course it is,â you rolled your eyes and thanked the waiter before grabbing your wrap from the seat.
You didnât even bring a coat, just this flimsy wrap which might as well have not been there.
With a light groan, you began walking home. Which was a pain in your heels but you couldnât really pay for a cab with lip gloss.
You turned a corner to a dark alleyway where barely anyone came around because it smelled like piss and crime and Dick always told you to avoid it at all costs but you were currently freezing and wanted to be home as soon as possible.
âHey princess,â you heard a male voice slur from behind you.
Great.
You began walking faster but it came to be futile when a hand grabbed your bare shoulder, causing you to gasp and run as fast as you could in your heels which wasnât that far at all because the man soon caught up to you and pulled a knife out.
âI donât want any trouble!â You declared loudly, hand going over your phone so you could speed dial Dick.
âI see what youâre doing, drop your phone princess,â the man ordered with a wicked grin.
âI donât have any money!â You protested as you clutched your purse when you realised your hands had begun shaking.
âThatâs okay, you can pay me in another way,â he grinned wider as he stepped closer, causing you to step back as your feet shook beneath you.
âLeave me alone!â You grunted as your back hit the wall.
âWe will have fun,â the man laughed but it soon turned into a grunt as he fell on the ground.
Nightwing soon emerged from the shadows and stood over the man who was now quivering but he didnât get a chance to escape as Dick began landing punches to his face.
The man soon passed out but Dick didnât stop even after you called out his name repeatedly. He kept punching the man and you were beginning to get scared because you had never ever seen Dick like that.
You stepped forward and put your hand over his shoulder which finally made him stop as he stood up and cupped your face in his gloved hands, checking for injuries.
âIâm okay,â you reassured him as he looked you up and down.
âAre you actually kidding me?â Dick roared, louder and angrier than youâd ever seen him. âHow many times have I told you not to come into this alley!â
âI was cold and I just wanted to get home!â You huffed in defence.
âAnd where is your date? Heâs supposed to be walking you home!â Dick yelled again.
âWell thanks to you, heâs never seeing me again,â you scoffed.
âWhat?â Dick echoed, suddenly much calmer now. âFuckâs sake come here,â he grumbled once he saw you shaking like a leaf.
You didnât protest as you stepped closer and let him wrap his warm arms around your body. Dick always ran hot, the complete opposite of you who always managed to stay cold. Your lips and nails often turned blue if you were out in the cold and Dick always had to give you his jacket or envelope you in his arms while he rubbed his palms up and down your body to warm you up. Much like he was doing right now.
âHe said he didnât want to come in between something complicated,â you managed to speak against Dickâs chest.
âHe might be a douche but he backed off. I respect that,â Dick chuckled.
âDick,â you murmured.
âIâm sorry,â he replied.
âWhatever,â you sighed and straightened up, looking into the whites of his domino mask.
âLetâs get you home,â he murmured quietly with a swallow.
You two walked side by side without saying a word other than Dick occasionally straightening you up with his hand cupping your elbow each time you stumbled in your heels. Your apartment building soon came into view as Dick waved you goodbye but went behind the building to climb up the fire escape in case anyone was following him. Nightwing.
You knew he would be waiting for you when you opened the door and he was. His domino mask was off his face and sitting on the kitchen counter while he folded his arms over his chest and looked at you.
The look on his face was indecipherable but you were tired of it. Tired of him acting like nothing even happened, tired of him cooking you breakfast and leaving just minutes before you woke up, tired of him ruining your dates, tired of him still telling you that he loved you but most of all you were tired of pretending you didnât care.
Of pretending you didnât want him back or that he was right there with you whenever you tried to bring yourself close to an orgasm pretending it was him doing it instead.
So you put your purse down and walked towards Dick, staring into his blue eyes with purpose while the confusion on his face grew with each step you took in his direction.
You grabbed the collar of his suit and led him towards the bedroom you two shared once.
âBaby-â Dick began but you cut him off with a quick âshh.â
You pushed him onto the bed with his collar and he fell backwards with his back hitting the plush mattress as he looked up at you in confusion with parted lips and big eyes.
âYou think you can just do anything?â You began, venom dripping from your voice with how mad you were.
âWhat-â he said again but you were quick to grab his face in your hand to shut him up.
âI donât want a word out of you okay?â You murmured as your eyes landed on his parted lips now pouted due to your hold on his chin.
âHmm,â Dick hummed in response. His pupils completely dilated with need.
âGood,â you breathed out, leaning closer to him until you were straddling him and your forehead was against his. âBecause youâve said enough these past few weeks. Donât you think itâs time for you to shut up?â you asked and when Dick didnât respond, you tightened your grip on his face. âThat was a question Dick, I expect an answer.â
âY-yeah,â he managed as you felt him stiffening underneath you.
âGood,â you smiled and pecked his lips before pushing him on the bed so he could lie down completely while you got off the bed and began stripping your dress off.
Once you were out of your clothes and only in bra and panties, you straddled Dick again, your thighs on either side of his hips as you leaned down to press kisses on his neck.
Dickâs hand came up and pulled out the stick from your head that was holding your messy bun up and you immediately frowned, grabbing his hands and pinning them over his head.
âI didnât say you could touch me,â you said, eyeing him.
âYouâre killing me,â Dick murmured and moved his hips underneath you, causing his erection to rub against you.
You let out a shaky breath at that but quickly recovered, pressing your weight down on him more.
âDo that again and Iâll leave you here like this,â you challenged and saw Dick close his eyes for a second. âWill you listen to me now for once in your damn life?â
Dick nodded his head but that wasnât good enough for you. You ground your hips against his which caused him to let out a small whimper.
âWords,â you ordered.
âYes maâam,â Dick whispered.
âCute,â you smiled and leaned down to give Dick a full kiss against his mouth but when his hands came down again to hold your hips, you pulled away. âYou just canât ever listen to me can you?â You huffed and got off him, walking away from the bed.
âBaby no. Come back! Iâm sorry,â Dick pleaded from behind you. âIâll behave I promise.â
âYeah you will,â you returned with one of his old ties from the closet and straddled him again.
You grabbed his hands and pinned them over his head again while holding the black tie in your mouth as Dick watched you with hazy eyes without blinking. He was so painfully hard in his suit it was a chore for him to breathe. And yet he didnât want to be anywhere else.
You neatly tied the tie around his wrist âwhich letâs be honest, he could easily get out of.
âNice,â you grinned and looked at Dick who was now glaring at you with flared nostrils.
He was getting mad. Exactly what you wanted.
âDo something,â Dick ordered.
âDo you want me to gag you too? I donât want to hear your voice right now Dick,â you clicked your tongue and tapped your finger against his lips.
âYouâll regret this,â he warned against your finger. âHave your fun while you can baby because once Iâm out of this, youâll be sorry.â
âShut up!â you grumbled, putting your palm over his mouth. âThe only reason my panties aren't in your mouth right now is because youâre good with your mouth when youâre putting it to good use.â
âCome up here then baby, let me show you how good I am,â he smirked against your palm.
âNot today Nightwing,â you smirked, hands sliding down to the opening of his suit.
You slowly peeled the spandex off him, carefully putting the gadgets aside before you took his comms âthat he already disabledâ out. He was left in only a pair of black boxer briefs. He was sprawled out in the middle of the bed with his hands tied over his head as he looked at you with hungry eyes, waiting for your next move.
You sat back on his hips, eyeing his sculpted body that you desperately missed over the last few weeks. You ran your hand over every hard ridge and muscle on his body as if relearning it.
Goosebumps slowly rose over Dickâs body as you kept tracing the veins with your nails, causing him to squirm and breathe out shakily.
You ground your hips against his again before leaning down to plant kisses on his throat, trailing a path down to the middle of his chest.
With a giggle, you hopped off him and grabbed a lipstick from your dresser before straddling him again.
âYou wanted to ruin my valentineâs day didnât you?â you asked with a sweet smile as you unscrewed the cap of the red lipstick.
When Dick didnât respond, you harshly circled your hips over his erection again, making him let out a whimper.
âYes,â he whispered. âWanted⌠wanted you all to myself, in my bed.â
âIâm gonna mark you up,â you stated. âMake you pretty for my gift,â you smiled and applied lipstick on your lips before leaning down to plant your lips against Dickâs chest, transferring the mark on his skin.
You carried on with your lipstick kisses until his whole chest and neck were covered in kiss marks, making the muscles look that much defined and him just that much sexier. You quickly grabbed your phone and put your red painted nails under his chin and snapped a photo.
Gosh he was pretty.
âMy pretty baby,â you said with a sweet smile. âWish you could see yourself right now Dick, youâre so pretty all marked up like this just for me,â you whispered against his lips as your hand travelled down to the waistband of his boxers.
âSay it,â you urged. âSay youâre my pretty baby.â
âIâm your pretty baby,â he managed with a shaky breath as you gripped him before pulling your hand out.
âI donât think you deserve to get off just yet after weeks and weeks of torturing me,â you decided, leaning back again.
âIâve seen you with your hands between your thighs while you moaned my name baby, you know you want me,â Dick chuckled.
âThatâs not very nice is it Mr. Grayson?â You let out a loud gasp as your hand travelled behind you to unclasp your bra.
As soon as the material slid off your body, Dick let out a loud groan. He harshly moved his hips underneath you as he raised his pinned hands, trying to get them out.
âUntie me lovely,â he coaxed.
âHmmmm,â you pretended to think as you threw your bra behind you. âNo.â
âIâm not joking,â Dick said your name with a finality in his voice as his eyes turned darker.
âIâm not either. Youâve been annoying me for weeks, you can take it.â
âFine,â Dick clenched his jaw before you heard a harsh rip sound, causing you to widen your eyes as you saw the tie that bound his wrists was now torn in half.
You quickly got off Dick and walked backwards as he approached you with hunger in his eyes.
âDickâŚâ you began. âIâm sorry! I was going-â you defended yourself as you turned around to open the bedroom door but Dickâs palm came down on it, slamming it shut again as he pinned you against it with his chest against your back and his lips against your ears.
âDonât start something you canât finish sweetheart,â Dick muttered in your ear, grinding his hips on your ass causing a moan to leave your mouth.
âYou know what to say if you wanna stop right?â Dick checked and you nodded in reply. âGood,â he chuckled and picked you up, walking you backwards and throwing you on the bed.
Your body collided with the plush mattress, causing your hair to fall over your face but you didnât get the chance to tame it before Dick got on top of you, making you lie back down.
âBecause I need to remind you who owns the game, yeah?â Dick said, ripping your underwear off.

\( á)/ Gojo âWe Donât Need A Condomâ Satoru.
âDo you want blue-eyed babies running rampant across Tokyo Tech for the next five years or do you have even a sliver of control?â
Gojo outwardly smirks at your miffed state, massive hands splayed over your supple thighs on the counter of the staff kitchen, the flushed tip of his pale cock brushing through your silky folds teasingly. It seems that your body is giving away just how much you need him, too. âImpeccable timing, sweetheart, because todayâs our lucky day. Iâve got the perfect solution for us,â he purrs, and you arenât all that thrilled knowing the sort of mischief he tangos with.
But you give in anyway. Because heâs Gojo Satoru.
His lips latch onto the column of your throat, and it isnât long until you feel him pressing into your pulsing entrance, slathered in your leaking arousal.
But somethingâs off.
âG-GojoâŚ? What is that?â You quiz with a whine, head tossed back as he laps at your jawline, right where he knows youâre sensitive after years of working by his side and fucking you in his apartment to watch you come undone time after time.
âLittle trick I came up w-with, jerking off to those sexy little pictures you sent when I was on that mission in Hokkaido,â he grunts out, thumbs digging bruises into the plush of your thighs as he buries himself to the hilt. âYou know how much I canât work through a quickie with a rubber.â The pout that hangs off his lower lip is all theatricsâthe man just likes going at it raw.
You squirm, legs trembling, walls fluttering around his massive size. And then it clicks, because you know Gojo Satoru, and his pullout game is tragically weak.
âThereâs no wayâŚâ
âYes way.â
He cups a hand over your mouth as he starts rutting into you, your whines muffled lest some poor employee makes their way into the room, your skull knocking into the cabinet behind your head.
Your eyes are rolling back into their sockets as you piece together that Gojo is using his Infinity around his dick.
A makeshift condom of sorts.
The prominent lines bulging down his length drag against your gummy walls, his technique rounded out so thin and so precise that in a cockdrunk state, you probably wouldnât have even noticed he had it activated.
But right now, you feel him everywhere.
âCâmon,â he bites down on your collarbone, the low timbre of his tone sending sparks darting up your spine. âBeg me to fill you up raw.â
His vulgar words punch a whimper from you, your legs ensnaring his tapered waist while you clench around him involuntarily. You canât get a sound out, muffled whines sounding against his soft palm.
Moments later, when the lights above you fade and flicker as his orgasm careens into him and stars bloom behind your eyelids, does he spill inside of you.
But not really inside of you. Just inside of the infinite barrier he managed to keep up after he came.
Once he catches his breath, he pulls out, a thick layer of seed around his cock and held tight against it with his technique.
You hold back a snicker as he fumbles around with his shaft.
âWhat the hell am I supposed to do with this?â he muttered, mostly to himself as he waddles around the room.
And of course, when your situation couldnât get any weirder, does Ijichi push his way into the staff loungeâspluttering apologies with flushed cheeks, trying to avert his gaze from your hiked up pencil skirt and Gojoâs dick on the verge of leaking onto the linoleum floors.

Dorathyâs heart was pounding so hard she wouldnât be surprised if Alastor could hear it.
---------------(skip here)
They both became distracted as they heard people stumbling out of the speakeasy and flowing out onto the street. Alastor reacted before Dorathy could and stabbed Lu through the throat. The man let out one last gurgle. They held their breath as they listened to the people laugh as they passed the alleyway. The crowd passed, and they let their breath out.Â
----------------(read after here)
âWe canât stay here.â Dorathy breathed.Â
âWe canât leave the bodies.â Alastor countered.
He was right of course.
She started patting the pockets of the man in front of them down. The greasy one claimed he was rich so they had to have a car. She doubted the man drove himself with the way he acted, so one of his men had to have the keys. It seemed the man in front of them didnât have them so she moved over to the other body. Patting around she found what she was looking for in his left pants pocket. Triumphantly she pulled out car keys.Â
âThey gotta be parked âround here somewhere.â She said, dangling the keys from her finger.Â
Alastor came over and took the keys from her hand, smiling amused.Â
âYou are full of surprises today.â He mused.Â
âYouâd be surprised all the things you donât know âbout me.â Dorathy chuckled.Â
He smirked as he leaned down before saying, âAnd the more I find out the more I want to know.â
He straightened up and looked over his shoulder before he took off, hiding in the shadows as he went. Dorathy looked down at herself. She supposed they both were covered in a fair amount of blood, but Alastor did know the area better so he was likely better suited to retrieve the car. She got up and started to drag the bodies away from the light at the end of the alley. It wouldnât do any good if someone walking by saw the murder scene while they were trying to clean up.Â
She grabbed the greasy man first since he was the lightest. She crouched down and hooked her elbows under his armpits and dragged him without any issue. Out of curiosity she searched his pockets and found his wallet. She was surprised to find fifty dollars in the manâs wallet. She rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet as she checked the wallet for anything else but found nothing else of value.
âIdiot wasnât lyinâ âbout havinâ money.â She muttered to herself and stuffed the bills and his ID in her bra.
She bounced back up and walked over to the other two bodies. She looked between the two men. She sighed and grabbed the shorter manâs feet and grunted as she started pulling. While he was shorter than the other man he weighed significantly more than the greasy man. He easily had 100 pounds on the other man, and she had not moved bodies around since her mother passed. It took her more effort and time but she got him over to the other body in the shadow.
She froze as she heard a car engine getting close.
Was it Alastor returning with the car, or was it someone else driving by whose headlights might illuminate the crimes they were trying to hide? She pressed herself further into the shadows against the wall. The car rumbled closer. She did her best to peek down the alley to see if she could catch sight of the car. She felt her breath catch as she saw the silhouette of a car at the end of the alley. Then the engine cut and she saw someone get out of the car and start coming farther into the alley.
âMy, my, Mo chè moving the bodies on your own?â She heard Alastor say and she felt the tension leave her a little.
âYou didnât expect me to do nothinâ while you were off gettinâ the car didâja?â Dorathy laughed as she pushed away from the wall.Â
They both grinned at each other and started to help each other move the bodies into the car. They moved as quickly as they could while staying quiet. Moving the greasy man didnât take much time at all with how light he was. The other two took a little more work as they both were 100 to 150 pounds heavier than the other man. Alastor got into the driver's seat once they finished putting the bodies in the trunk.Â
âYou got somewhere in mind for these?â Dorathy asked as she climbed into the car.
âWhy of course, Mo chè.â He said with a wicked grin, âIt is a bit out of the way so I hope you donât mind the drive.âÂ
âLetâs get goinâ.â
The drive to Alastorâs hideout took some time. It was a shack in the middle of the bayou, and Dorathy was surprised that the car was able to make it all the way. She had a feeling that if anyone else had driven that they might not have been able to navigate all the way there. She could feel the humidity cling to her skin as she stepped out of the car, and the damp smell of the earth filled her lungs. Alastor led her in and she saw that while the outside looked run down the inside was much better cared for.
âI have spent many nights here.âAlastor said as he moved towards a wardrobe pulling out clothes and facing her before he spoke again, âWe can spend the night and clean ourselves up. I can also whip us up something to eat if you would like.â
Dorath laughed accepting the offered clothing and asked, âYou keep food here to cook with?â
âI keep some ingredients here, butâŚâ Alastor said, his eyes flicking towards the door, âI prefer to make things a bit more avant-garde.â
She felt her eyebrow raise at his words.Â
âNow what do you mean by that?â She asked.
She saw some apprehension in his eye before he spoke but he continued his voice confident, âWell⌠It would be a waste to not use the meat we hunted.â
Dorathy stepped back from him, surprised. Eating people? She couldnât tell how she felt. Her mama had always said to use every part of an animal you hunted, but this felt different. She saw his face fall for just a moment before the disappointment was replaced with a tight smile. She felt a slight panic in her chest at the idea that she disappointed Alastor.Â
âIâm sorry.â She blurted out.
She saw confusion flicker in his eyes before he asked,âWhat?â
âI-I didnât mean to make you feel- I just never thought about it like that and it caught me off guard.â She rambled, âItâs not somethinâ Iâve ever thought about but try anythinâ once.â
Alastor put his hands on her shoulders and she stopped her rambling. She looked up at him and the tight smile was replaced with a soft one. He led her over to a chair and sat her down. She blinked at him and he smiled wider.
âIt has been quiet the night. How about we start by getting ourselves cleaned up then we will talk about everything else.â He offered.Â
She nodded.
His smile softened again and he turned and walked to the other side of the room. She noticed the large basin as he came up to it. He reached over and removed the lid from the basin then grabbed a pot and dipped it in, filling the pot up with water. She watched as he grabbed a rag then started to rinse the blood off his hands with the water from the pot. He paused once his hands were free of blood and she couldnât tell what he was doing. After a moment she realized that he was removing his blood stained clothes and her face flushed. She looked away as his shirt came off her face burning as she did. She heard him chuckle and she knew he was looking back at her.Â
âI know you often stare at me when you think Iâm not looking.â He teased, âWhy not let me see you looking?â
Dorathy took a shaky breath and looked at Alastor.Â
His shirt and vest were fully off. She could see his chest which looked toned. There were a few scars littered here and there that she assumed must have been from some of his other hunts. She let her eyes roam as he picked up the rag and started to wipe the blood off his neck. She bit her lip and looked away as water droplets rolled down his chest.Â
âProblem, Mo chè?â Alastor teased once again.Â
âYou know what you are doinâ.â She replied with her voice low.Â
âYouâre enjoying the show arenât you?â He asked, amused.Â
She looked back at him with a coy smile and said, âYou always do put on the best shows.â

The station fell back into a normal rhythm.Â
Mr.Jones and Mr.Willson didnât seem as concerned with finding a new host for the afternoon segment now that it was split between Robert and Alastor. Dorathy was fairly certain at this point they would only hire someone if they met all of their qualifications, or if they were a star host like Alastor was. Mr.Willson would never pass up the opportunity to get better talent for the station. Mr.Jones will do whatever brings the station more money.
It was the dead heat of the summer now and Dorathy couldnât be happier that the studio was always cold. The screaming of the cicadas promised that the heat wouldnât be leaving even into the night, so she wouldnât get a reprieve even when she went home late in the evening. The bell over the front door went off and Dorathy had to stop herself from falling off her chair. Alastor had his top two buttons of his shirt undone, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and a light sheen of sweat on his brow. He smiled as he entered the building.
âAh.âHe sighed, pulled out a handkerchief and wiped away some sweat from his neck, âIt is so pleasant that our work has air conditioning.âÂ
Dorathy swallowed hard and tried to smile naturally.
âIt does feel so much better than beinâ out there in that swelterinâ heat.â She replied doing her best not to stare at his throat.
She could feel her face getting flush as she fought not to gape at the man in front of her. The fact that he hadnât caught on to her feelings yet was a miracle. The fact that no one had caught on now that he had started coming in while the others were still here was also a miracle. She had never been good about hiding her crushes. It was something that her Mama had poked fun at her for when she was younger.
She had never felt happier to hear the request light.
âWell Iâll let you cool off. Iâm gonna go get that.â She said as she quickly left the room.
She paused before getting to Robert to fan herself so her face calmed down. She felt her face cool off and she walked over to the viewing window and put on the guest headset. He complained about the heat in the booth and demanded an iced drink. Dorathy was honestly surprised that he managed to wait this long to ask. Complaints about the booth being hot during the summer were not a new thing. She sighed and went to go get him a cold drink.
She paused as she reached the back office.Â
Alastor was leaning against the counter by the sink sipping on a glass of ice water. His sleeves were still rolled up and his buttons were still undone, but he didnât look as bothered by the heat. Dorathy cursed internally as she felt her face get hot again. She forced herself to try and appear calm and walk into the room. He turned and looked at her as she came towards him.
âMo chè, you look as if the heat is getting to you as well.â He said with a sly smile.
Maybe miracles could only last so long.
âI-I think the heat is getting to us all.â She tried lying as she grabbed a glass. He hummed and she wasnât sure he believed her.Â
âYou know,â He said, his voice low, âWhen the heat is sweltering like this I have a favored pastime and I think you should join me.â
âOh?â She couldnât help her curiosity.
âWe can go out after work tonight and youâll see.â He offered with a grin.
âAlastor!â Mr.Willson barked from his office door, scowling at how close Alastor was to Dorathy. Alastorâs smile tightened as he straightened up, and walked over to one of the tables without a word. âDora come here.â
Dorathy felt horrible shame of being called out by her boss crawling up her back as she put down the water she was making for Robert and went into Mr.Willsonâs office. The man closed the door behind her as soon as she entered. She sat down without being told too. She watched as he languidly walked around the edge of the room until he was behind his desk and sat down.
âDora, do you feel safe working alone with Alastor?â
She blinked at the question.
âYes. Why wouldnât I?â
âDora,â He said, condescension slipping into his voice, âThose kinds of men can't control themselves, especially around beautiful young women like yourself.â
Dorathy felt anger flare in her chest at the implication.Â
âAlastor has been a perfect gentleman.â She said indignantly.
Mr.Willson tilted his head and smiled at her like she was a child. She felt disgust as he looked at her. Then horror slowly started to trickle down her spine. He thought she couldn't possibly know better than him and that he needed to teach her the correct way. Men like him never thought they were wrong. He wouldn't give up until he had won.Â
âNow, now,â He said leaning back in his chair, smirking as he did, âYou and I know that someone like him chatting up someone like you is a problem for him. We both also know that you care far too much about this studio to let our most popular host take any hits for this.â
She could feel the color leaving her face as he spoke.
âBut this can't go unpunished.â She heard his belt buckle come undone as he said unpunished.
Her heart jumped into her throat.
Dread fully settled in.Â
âWell,âHe asked grinning, âWhatâll it be?â
Dorathy had been off since Willson had called her into his office and it was driving Alastor mad. She was acting distant. She didn't meet his eyes when he called a request after Jones and Willson left. He felt frustrated. Willson had clearly done something to her. Why punish her if he was mad at him?
He needed to let off steam.
He was relieved when David showed up. He needed to talk to Dorathy and once David was in the booth they would be alone. He packed up his equipment and didn't bother to wait for David to set up. The equipment didn't need a cleaning so he would simply put it in his locker. As he walked to the front he looked around and Dorathy wasn't there. She must be in the back. That was fine with him.
Walking into the back office he saw her sitting at one of the tables staring down at a cup of coffee. She didnât react as he opened his locker. He turned to face her.
âMo chè,â He said carefully as put his equipment back down in his locker, âAre you⌠okay?â
She looked up from the coffee without blinking and stared at Alastor.Â
After a moment she finally blinked as if she was coming back to herself.
âItâs⌠been a long day.âshe said slowly.
He sighed, carding his hand through his curls.Â
âYou mentioned somethinâ after work earlier?â She asked and took a sip of her coffee.
He perked up.
âAre you still interested, Mo chè?â
âLettinâ my day end on a bad note just ain't in my nature.â She smiled. It didn't reach her eyes but it was better than earlier.
Alastor grinned back at her. He stood up and offered her his hand. She giggled at the gesture, and took his hand. He pulled her up and spun her away from the table. Her surprised gasp and breathless laugh made him feel a deep satisfaction. Whatever those idiots had done he was able to pull her out of it.
âWell, Mo ti zwazo, let me help make the rest of your day better.âÂ
It didnât take long for Alastor to lead Dorathy to the hidden entrance of the speakeasy he frequented. Even though it was late the speakeasy was still in full swing. The music was vivacious, and the people were joyous. He could see people crowding the bar, and libations were plenty to go around.Â
âOh goodness I feel a bit under dressed now.â Dorathy said from beside him.Â
âNonsense.â He denied before saying, âYou look wonderful. Now would you like a drink first or would care to join me for a dance?â
She laughed and took his hand before saying, âIâm not much one for drinkinâ myself but I would love to dance.â
Alastor pulled her to the dance floor with a wicked grin.Â
Dancing was always easy to lose one's self to and Alastor always found dancing with a good partner made it even better.Â
The two danced, twirling, jumping, spinning until someone interrupted them.
A thin pale man with greasy hair grabbed Dorathy by the waist as she was spun away from Alastor. The shock and barely hidden disgust on her face was evident to Alastor. The man grinned lazily at Alastor. He watched as two other men came up behind the man and glared at him. Anger rose in his chest. The speakeasy wasnât somewhere he could stand up for himself, and horribly he realized he could not stand up for Dorathy either.Â
âYou donât mind if I cut in do yaâ?â The thin man asked with a drawl.
He watched as Dorathy tried to pull away from the man as she spoke, âActually, I do.â Â
Her hands pushed at the manâs, but the man grabbed her right wrist and yanked her close to his side as he spoke, âYou donât know what youâre sayinâ doll. I can offer you so much more than something like that ever could. âSides My friends here can take care of this for you.â
Alastor tensed as he was ready for an altercation with the manâs friends, but he saw panic flash in Dorathyâs eyes. Suddenly she turned in the manâs grip and smiled at him sweetly. The man looked down at her with a sleazy smile. He held up his hands and his goons stopped. She wrapped her free arm around the man's neck and whispered something in his ear. The thin man laughed boisterously.
âYou are a bold little minx arenât you.â
âJust let me get a drink at the bar first.â
âYou donât come in five minutes, my boys will come and find you.â He agreed with a smirk before slapping her behind.
Alastor felt so much rage as he watched the interaction. Dorathy was clearly trying to protect him. He watched as the three men strode away confidently disappearing into the crowd. Dorathy didnât even look at him as they left; she made a b-line for the bar. He chased after her and grabbed her arm as she was leaning over the counter.
âWhat are you doing?â He hissed. She continued to lean over the counter and riffled through something behind the bar.
âI canât go in unprepared.â She said as she slipped back over the counter before the bartender saw her.
âThat doesnât explain anything.â He growled. She looked at him pained, and he felt more irritated.
âI know, but Iâm runninâ short on time.âShe sighed, âJust come out to the alley.â
A jolt shot through him at those words.
Was she setting these morons up?
Suddenly she was gone in the crowd.
Alastor couldnât tell if his heart was hammering in his chest at the thrill of being set up for a hunt, or because of something else. There was a feeling in his stomach that he ignored for the time being. He waited thirty seconds after Dorathy had left to follow after. He moved easily through the crowd and made his way out the speakeasy. The humid summer air greeted him but he didnât have time to take it in. He moved to hide in the shadows and slinked into the alleyway. Dorathy was standing there by herself, looking around nervously. He stayed hidden in the shadows and moved closer. The alleyway was twenty-five feet long and ten feet wide at most and Dorathy had placed herself at the end and towards the middle. Suddenly the side door to the butcher shop that was above the speakeasy opened up behind her and three men stepped out.
âWell, well,âOne of the men laughed, one of the men hadnât spoken before, âLookie boss the little tramp kept to âer word.â
âOf course she did,â The thin man chuckled, âWe wouldnât have let âer do anythinâ otherwise.â
Dorathy backed away from the men without saying anything.
âNow, now that ainât what we agreed to, is it sweet cheeks?â The thin man taunted, âLu how boutsâ you get âer.â
The bigger of the three men started stalking towards Dorathy.
âBe my pleasure, boss.â

The man moved quickly for his size. Alastor was barely a foot out of the shadows when the man started screaming. All the men froze for a moment as Lu stumbled away from Dorathy and fell to the ground clutching his face. There was a corkscrew sticking out of his eye, and it was buried fairly deep in. Alastor felt a thrill at the sight. He looked up and she had one of the bartender's knives in her hand as well. That had been what she was doing at the bar.Â
Excitement thrummed in his veins. He dashed the rest of the way across the alleyway and stabbed his knife into the back of the thin man close to his kidneys. He relished in the startled cry the man let out. The manâs other goon turned as he heard his boss cry out, ignoring the woman with a knife behind him. A mistake. Dorathy darted at him as soon as his back was to her and sliced through the manâs achilles tendon on his right leg. The man cried in pain as his leg gave out and he slammed into the ground. Alastor sliced through the manâs throat, blood spraying out as he did. His blood sang at how well the two of them worked together.Â
He turned to the thin man on the ground bleeding out with a manic grin and flipped him over.
âYou donât mind if we share this dance do you?â
âP-Please! Please let me g-g-go! I- I can get you-you anythinâ!â The man begged.
He saw Dorathyâs shadow stretch over the man before she leaned over him and spoke.
âDarlinâ what makes you think he needs anythinâ from the likes of you?â
âI-Is th-this a-about the-the tramp?â The man asked foolishly.
Alastor stabbed him harshly on the left side of his abdomen just as Dorathy kicked him in the head. He looked up at her amused. She shrugged at him.
âI would think very carefully about how you speak here.â Alastor advised him as he moved his knife to the manâs throat, âThis can get much much worse for you.â
The manâs eyes widened in terror, but then Alastor saw him look between himself and the entrance to the alleyway. He felt irritation flash as he realized the man was not going to let him have his fun. The man opened his mouth to scream, but before Alastor could stab him, and before the man could make a sound Dorathyâs knife sliced across the manâs throat. For a moment Alastor felt aghast that she had stolen his kill before he realized that the man was still alive.
âMama always said it was better when they canât scream anyways.â Dorathy chirped.
âI must meet you mother.â Alastor enthused.
âYou two would have gotten along, but Mama ainât with us no more.â Dorathy sighed.
The manâs gurgling brought Alastorâs attention back to him.Â
âAh yes. Our captive audience.â He grinned wickedly, âA shame really, I do love when they scream.â
The man weakly tried to push him off of his body. He laughed at the thin man's feeble attempt. He watched amused as Dorathy walked over to the body of Lu. His heart jumped into his throat as she put her foot on his chest then leaned down and yanked the corkscrew out of his eye socket causing the man to scream out. She twirled the corkscrew in her hand for a moment before she jammed it into the manâs left thigh and twisted. He sat captivated. She made an annoyed noise and pulled the manâs tie off and shoved it in his mouth. His screams were muffled with the tie but Alastor could still hear them. She flipped the knife in her other hand and stabbed it into the manâs other thigh. The manâs muffled screams were music to Alastorâs ears. He remembered the man he had in front of him and looked down to see he had bled out already. He scowled and tossed the manâs body aside. He got up and moved over to Dorathyâs side.

âMo chè, you are captivating.â He murmured in her ear, âI had no clue you could be so ruthless.â
