Here is the dish #aloobadibesara the traditional odia cuisine dish! Many of my of you got it right! Badi is the sundried lenthil dumpling and here i used kakharu/pumpkin badi. This dish is slow cooked in mustard cumin chilli garlic paste #sorisabata with some dried mango #ambula which makes it tangy and delicious. Memories are the architecture of our identity! And the best memories are made when gathered around the table. Recently @hungrie_young_man posted murmura /mudhi/ puffed rice and kheer and that brought back so many memories from my childhood. I couldn’t stop myself recreating the best breakfast or snack or dessert whatever you call it. Here is the puffed rice dessert cups. I coated the puffed rice with jaggery and cocoa powder One i topped it with the left over vermicelli that i made yesterday to that i added some chocolate syrup and strawberry. The other I topped with mildly sweet curd /yogurt topped with fruits and dryfruits. This tasted so good and the crunch in coated puffed rice is just perfect. For odias its mudhi muan and mudhi kheeri or dahi in fancy cup 💗 @platterjoy here is my entry for the contest. Making these brought back so many memories associated with it. Anyone who has lived in India as a child has undoubtedly experienced the awesomeness that is Tamarind or the small packets of tamarind pickle 😋! I can’t describe the excitement that the end of each school day brought us as kids , not only its time to go home but the small shops near school which sells these nature’s sweet and sour candy 😝. My mom remembers the big tamarind tree and how they were spending their afternoon there and picking fresh #tamarind and indulging them though i only remember of buying them from shops either as pickle #tentulikhatta or whole thing like this. Recently i bought some tamarind to make some pickle and for lil A taste the real candy 😄as soon as i took it out we ate them as it is and left with only seeds (i do remember my grandma popping those tamarind seeds in stove . This brought us so many sweetest memories from the childhood. How many of you have fond memories of buying Tamarind after school?? This is a bond of love, a bond of togetherness, it’s a thread that binds our life and our hearts. I planned something special for this day but it dint happen as yesterday the whole day we spent at the hospital 🙄. Late in the night i made some besan ladoo so (its Mr Spiceathon’s favourite festival ) . Just to cheer him up i cooked the veg thali though veg is not really his favourite thing 😝. If you are following me for a while then you know how much i love Mondays 😉! The only thing i hate about Monday and weekdays is that i got to have solo meals (mainly lunch) when lil A at school and Mr Spiceathon at office 😕. I love weekends mainly as we sit together for meals , and enjoy the meal time 💗 Sometime i try to cook an elaborate meal. Sometime its just simple rice and curry! Family meals are really very important, this provides nutrients that kids need to grow strong and healthy. They learn good eating habits,table manners and nutrtious food choices. And its not just important for kids it’s important for adults too. And i do encourage to give the same food to kids (2+ years )what we eat to them when it comes to family meals so there will be less fuss when you eat out and its beneficial for us too 😉(cooking the meal with moderation is the key for good health) Today am sharing daddy’s thali and lil A’s thali. They were so hungry that I dint get time to arrange my thali 😄. Chitalagai Amavasya (Chitlagi Amavasi, Chitou Amavasya) is observed on New-Moon day in Shravan month or Sravana maas in Odisha. It is an important festival in Puri Jagannath Temple. ‘Chita’ or decorating Lord Jagannath’s forehead with a golden mark is the main ritual of this Amabasya in Puri Jagannath Temple. Yesterday when i was about to soak rice to make pitha then when i just break the coconut, it was rotten 🙈. So i dint make any for today! When i told this to mom @bhagyabatip she did some beautiful #foodphotography and sent me this photo 😍😍. How can i not post this 💗. ‘Chitou Pitha’, a special rice recipe, is offered to Lord Jagannath on this day. In rural areas of Orissa, this festival is celebrated as an agricultural fest.
