Rattles smiled, very gentle for someone with so much magic.
"That'll be fine, Baron's still..creaky. Until we can get him looked at neither of us would rather push it. He's been...well..inactive for over sixty years. During that time, I read every book on magic and theory I could find. I could make charms for love and luck and heal people...but the only big magic I can do was with the doorways. Just moving one takes a lot outta me. Opening one when it's not close to time is worse..." He shrugged, and with Baron trailing, backed through the portal, leading Goliath and Warren behind him.
"See? No ruffled feathers."
The world Rattles backed into, and that Baron followed behind in, was a drastic change. The mansion was cold, and dark. The shadows were stark and sharp. The colors were muted, as though covered in a thick layer of dust despite being recently cleaned. And cold. Even though the summer sun was hitting the thick walled house, it was cold.
"Uh. Welcome to our home." Goliath offered as he made room for Baron to join them. "The sitting room is this way, if you'd like."
