“italian is my favorite.” she couldn’t help but get a little more comfortable and relaxed around him. “so italian sounds absolutely perfect for me.” she turned to look back at the building for a moment. “just let me go grab my purse and wallet.”

Then it was settled. “Italian it is...Haven’t had it in a while anyway, so I’m excited.” With his afternoon sparking to life again, Spencer could only nod at her simple request. “Yeah, I can wait. Take your time.”

Samuel shook his head disapprovingly, but still a snicker escaped him. “Hera also went behind him murdering his lovers, too. I’d like to keep my bunch of mortals intact, O’ powerful one.” he taunted him with a pointed look. Sam had always gone after his friend for his strange relationship with his wife, but only between themselves, and in good fun. With the rest of the lot, if anyone dared to question Spencer they went through him first, and he made sure they knew not to ask again. 

“Spence, fucking the tears away is not an acceptable firing method. I don’t think the lawyers would be too happy about it.” he scolded teasingly, knowing his friend too well. The man found anything arousing, though it was to be expected. Who else could run a club like this, after all?

The way his friend fixated on his neck didn’t go unnoticed to Samuel, as he adjusted the neck of his dress shirt to cover what was a very impressive bruise. As he felt his friend drilling holes into him still, he sighed resignedly and clenched his jaw. “Come on, go ahead. Say it.” he egged him on, defensive.

As usual, Sam had been right and wrong at the same time. Their banter was always a treat to be had with one another; surely, when it came to everyone else that worked here, Spencer considered him to be an equal. A title unworthy to most these days. “Luckily, the Hera I know plays nice with everyone. Why should she tear everyone to shreds when she can have her cake and eat it too?”

Spencer flagged down a waiter suddenly, wanting a bottle of Hennessy and a two glasses to drink from. Brown liquor was his weakness, but for the sake of the moment, he would sure endure what was going to follow: a drunken mess. “Why not? Draft up a couple of NDA’s and the challenge is all set.” As fucked up as it was, it was all empty air coming from Spencer. He wouldn’t go through with it, but the idea does seem like a little fun.

When the topic of Sam’s neck came about, Spencer acted as though he wasn’t aware of what was going on. But damn, he couldn’t deny the curiosity about the bruise’s origins. What would it be, exactly? “Say what...? Talk about that werewolf bite on your neck?” To even get his skin color to a bruised state seemed to be more difficult than the norm, and whoever was the culprit of it was on a mission to mark him for clout. Who was it exactly? “I’ll bite...Okay that wasn’t the best choice of words, but what happened?”

“Maybe I was ignoring you.” teased the brunette, though really, she just hadn’t heard him. though she did not appreciate things being thrown, it had gotten her attention. “Nope, and conveniently for you, my lunch plans are free.” though she almost teased they were not.

Sierra’s spitfire attitude was the reason of her current position, and although Spencer had no doubts of her successful work ethic, that mouth of hers tested him in more ways than one. He loved it. Hated it. “Good answer.” He threw back, thinking she would have plans already. Guess not. “Don’t inconvenience yourself by obliging to tag along. I’m not gonna turn into the Hulk just because you said no.”

a genuine smile spread across penelope’s face. “i would love some company… eating with someone is definitely preferable to eating alone.” 

He could attest to that. “Sweet! Do you have a preference?” She could have picked anything and Spencer would’ve been fine with it. At least he could indulge in his adventurous tendencies for the day. “I was aiming for Italian but it’s all up to you.”

She was wide eyed and filled with confusion for a split second when Spencer held onto her, looking at his grip on her arm and trying to tug away again as her eyes moved to his face. When she saw his hard stare, Lolita was rooted to the spot. She knew exactly what it meant when he looked at her this way, even if such a stare hadn’t graced her presence in months. It was too late to walk away from him now without consequence, that was very much clear.

With another deep breath and a hard swallow, Lola relaxed her features replied in a soft compliant voice. “Yes Daddy.” With that, she lowered herself to the floor, on her knees in front of Spencer without hesitation. It had been months since she’d done this, but didn’t miss a beat. How could she, the things he had done to her, they way Spencer took control of her felt ever lasting, maybe that was what she’d been so desperate to avoid. She moved closer to him so that his midsection was at eye level and pressed her face into it, nuzzling his thighs and lap through the fabric of his pants as she waited for him to undo his belt.

It was so easy to backslide and fall into familiar patterns, to notice the good in bad things. The last time he’d been like this with Lolita felt like forever. Time decayed their relationship to one another vastly, or so he’d thought. But there was still a glimmer of something left between them. Even if they drift apart, they would always manage to make it back together again. Eventually.

God, she was weak. A slave to impulse and immediate action, the will power she had to keep herself from giving in was depleting by the second. She turned away to leave, but was stopped when he took hold of her arm and sent of jolt through her system. The electricity between them was still there and was evident in the way she stared back at him, fitting to his side like a puzzle piece as he pulled her close to him.

LB, there was something Lolita hadn’t heard in a while. Of course, Spencer had no use for calling her Lola Bear when he was ready to tear his hair out because of her, but hearing it now sparked her arousal like clockwork as well as a deep longing for the way things used to be. “Da— Spencer. “Heat rose to her face when her little slip up occurred. “I have to leave, I’m sure they’re wondering where the rest of the dancers are….” She tried to pull away again, this time much harder than the last.

Why couldn’t this have been in a simpler time, where nothing felt weird or out of place? Despite the small moment, his mind had been suddenly clouded with judgment both good and bad. Good because he was willing enough to let her leave without another word, bad because he wanted to throw all of that shit out of the window. He could almost feel the angel and devil sitting on his shoulders, coaxing him into either making good suggestions or some really, really fucked up ones.

“I… don’t actually have much to report.” she told him after a moment of thought. Lolita wasn’t the same person she’d been when she met Spencer. When they first crossed paths she was someone who couldn’t be tamed, or tied down— something that hadn’t stopped him from trying, but that was before she had someone to look out for again.

“I guess I’m wasting your time for nothing, huh?” Watching him rise out of his seat to match her gaze sent familiar tingles down her spine. Instinctively she gave into that feeling that started to hang in the air when she was close to him, her stare lingering from his eyes to his lips a little too long. Suddenly rational thought filled her mind and pulled herself from her own foolishness when she realized it was the opposite of what she was supposed to be doing. “I should go, you have work to do and I don’t wanna be a distraction.”

Spencer wished he could read minds, Lolita’s specifically. He’d always been curious about what was she thinking, what made that firecracker in her spark the way it did. Even after stepping into his office for a civil moment, it ended up being a little awkward. Too awkward for his tastes.  She was already retreating by the time she announced her would-be exit, but Spencer put a stop to it. All of the effort to make it to his office for nothing? Something didn’t feel right.

“I thought you wanted to be civil?” Spence held onto her forearm loosely, not wanting to apply too much pressure to her arm when he pulled her a little closer to him. Spencer knew that this was dangerous territory, that them being like this would bring back old memories. Sometimes, you just couldn’t help it. “I know you didn’t go out of your way to get here just to leave...What’s on your mind, LB?”

penelope then glanced up, tilting her head slightly to look up at spencer, their eyes locking. “okay.. good.. .good….” she smiled a little. “no… uh i think i’m just going to get something to eat… hopefully if i do i wont be so scatterbrained…”

“Okay...” Spencer paused. “Well...I was on my way out to eat before my partner cancelled on me...Would you like some company?” It was a shot in the dark, but he didn’t want to eat out alone.

Dim lighting dashed on the stage. An electric piano played behind Iris, while she stood in the center of the stage, her fingertips wrapped around the microphone as she sang “Ain’t No Sunshine”. Her hips, perfectly hugged by the tight mini dress she wore, swayed smoothly to the rhythm as her blue eyes bore into her audience, charming anyone who looked her way. Soon, the chords signaled the end of the song, the clients clapped in approval and the blond singer thanked them into the mike. Then, she jumped down from the stage and headed to the bar. After she slid over the seat, she wordlessly signaled to the bartender for her usual martini, before turning to the person standing nearby. “Hey,” she greeted them with a confident smile. “Honest question: What d’you think of the show so far?”

Scotch in hand, Spencer sipped his drink as he watched Iris perform from his seat. She had the tendency to steal the hearts of onlookers, putting on shows that people would spend an enormous amount of time talking about. Putting off the deed for so long, Spence promised himself to actually sit and watch one of her evening shows. And from what he’d seen so far, she hadn’t disappointed him. “Honest? Hm...” After she sat and asked for his opinion, Spencer rubbed the back of his head and thought for a few seconds. “You know, I hate the song in general but I’ll endure it just for you. Why do you ask? Working on new material?”

His patience was never ending these days, something Lolita silently thanked him for as he allowed her little quip to slide. It wasn’t his fault they were knee deep in the shit predicament she’d caused with her carelessness and her need to push everyone away. She only had herself to blame for that one. “Well I wanted to speak to you privately, but o figured… As long as you’re at work we both have more of an incentive to keep things— civil.” The word had been on the tip of her tongue, but it still felt wrong. She never knew the right words when it came to Spencer, still she kept trying.

Civil. Nothing was ever civil when it came to them. An office. A Street corner. It didn’t matter. Her word of choice clicked in his head, now leaving the man curious as to why she was here in the first place. “All right...I’ll bite,” Spencer stood from his chair in the attempt to level with the woman, and leaned against his desk next to her. “let’s be civil...what’s up?” Her visit could have been about anything, and he couldn’t deny the fact that he was concerned about it.

penelope nodded quickly. “i uh… again i’m so sorry… i just… i wasn’t paying attention… i just… sorry…” she murmured out softly. her gaze drifted to the ground for a second. “you’re… you’re okay right sir?”

Spencer squinted his eyes for a bit, noticing that she had been mumbling, barely looking at him as they stood face to face. Sort of... “Yeah, I’m fine. No need to apologize. It was an accident...” He replied. “Need some help?”
