“Excuse me, sir,” Pearl tapped the boy, a shy smile on her lips, “Your shirt’s on backwards.”

Spencer narrows his eyes as he looks down at the girl, “What?”he asks as he runs his fingers through his hair. Looking down he notices that the back of his shirt is in fact backwards, “I suppose I should thank you”he says with a laugh. “I’m just a bit tired today.”

“listen, as much as i’d love to stay and chat, i’ve got some people — - pumpkins to carve. this is the best time of the year, y’know, and i’d really hate to waste any of my time on something that won’t benefit the greater good. also known as me.”

Spencer narrows his eyes as he listens to what Stormie is saying, “It sounds like you have an interest in anatomy”he says quietly. “A fascinating subject really, it’s amazing how people have turned into such an art, with it all needing to be so perfect.”

“what? – oh… no, sorry… i,” carter turns back to the person behind the desk and hands them his library key card to scan. “just… haven’t seen you in awhile,” he licked his lips, a nervous habit of his. “you’re busy, uh, i should get back to…” nothing. he was doing absolutely nothing. “homework and stuff.”

Spencer runs his fingers through his hair as he listens to Carter, “It’s okay”he says quietly as he watches the other. “Yeah it’s been awhile”he says quietly, he almost wanted to say that it hasn’t been since the whole darkness ordeal but he doesn’t want to say it. “No”he says abruptly as he reaches out to grab Carter’s arm, “Stay”he says quietly as he lets his hand fall to his side. “I’d like to talk”he says quietly.

carter locks eyes with spencer from across the room. he didn’t feel that intense hatred whenever he looked into his eyes and he didn’t feel the need to do, well, anything. he was just glad that spencer was, well, safe. the last he had heard of him was before he had left for genovia and that was somewhere around the time of the darkness being taken care of. he wanted to know what spencer had gone through but he knew that it wasn’t his place to ask. why would it be? carter had made it clear that the two could never be the same again. but he wondered how spencer was doing and if he was okay. was he sleeping? was he eating? was he buring himself in his chemistry books for a distraction from the nightmares he was probably having. carter personally knew about the effects of the darkness, god only knows what spencer must have been going through. “– spencer…” carter had walked across the room to return a few books but spencer just happened to be standing right there.

Whenever he’s in the library Spencer is usually approached by multiple people asking him for help regarding various assignments, so when he hears someone approaching him he can only assume that’s what is going on. Letting out a sigh he places the book in his hand back on the shelf, as he turns around to face the person. “What do you wan-?”he asks, he doesn’t mean to be rude but honestly he hasn’t been getting sleep and he’s not in the mood to help. However he abruptly cuts off when he notices that it’s Carter. “Carter”he says quietly as he chews on his lip, “D-do you need something?”he asks quietly as his gaze falls to the ground. He still feels uncomfortable whenever he’s around Carter, it’s obvious that the other boy hates him and he deserves it but he hates feeling so hated.

As Spencer jumped, Carmen tensed up realizing she’d walked straight to an actual person. She hadn’t been aware at first that it’d been Spencer, instead she’d only seen one of them– Asshole #3 she had named him. But she got pulled out of her running excuses to cover herself up in case the boy questioned her as he spoke up. “Paranoid?” she asked, a feeling she had been familiar with since a couple of weeks now. “Did you kill the owner of a pawnshop and now the guilt is eating you alive?”

Spencer scrunches his eyebrows together as he watches Carmen, his intent expression replaced by genuine surprise when Carmen responds with a comment indicating her familiarity with the book. “No I don’t think I killed anyone, but I do feel rather paranoid”he says as he once more scrunches his facial features together. “But that’s just from insomnia”he says quietly.
