Showcase '95 issue 6

I don't think I will be mentioning this book often, even though I will be reading them.

The Legion story is fine as is the Science Police is good but the Bibbo & Lobo story by Mike Carlin and Denis Rodier is a masterpiece!

Drawing on there misadventures during the Eradicator epic.

Bibbo and Lobo litterly have to save the earth from going to the dogs.

Th story is funny and action packed. With art by Rodier that is perfect fits the time of the story!

Meanwhile in the Superman universe.

Superboy gose on the 3 issue event Watery Grave.

I have mixed feelings about this one.

First of Superboy with the Suicide Squad is really cool. I like the team Waller has set up. Deadshot and Boomerang two classic members King Shark still a new character at the time, and Knockout ( one of my favorite recurring Superboy villains). Tom Grummett brings his a game to the story, and for all the set up and the fact that The Silicon Dragons were the big behind the scenes bad of the book.

It just ended so abruptly.

Like Boomerang betrayed the team, and the baddies just escape.

Superman The Man of Tomorrow number 1!

This is the title that we demand! Well I lest I know I was one of the people writing in complaining about the skip weeks.

Was the book successful long term? That is a question for another time.

This issue however is a perfect way to do a comic from the time.

Having just coming off of The Death of Clark Kent we are treated to a really good recap that lets us know what few remaining subplots we have left. The rest of the book boldy takes the next step introducing characters like The Countessa and the return of Lex Luthor! This Luthor looks to be in the prim of his life, not old like before and definitely not a clone.

One of the best selling points on this book is the return of Stern, Grummett, and Breeding.

After a break of having to deal with some personal issues, I am back on my Superman reread.

I just finished The Death of Clark Kent.

I have to admit that I didn't have fond memories of this story, I thought it was just a step ahead of Dead Again (still one of my lest favorite storylines).

The good news is I was wrong. The Death of Clark Kent is actually really good, if not slightly to compressed

The art is excellent as usual Guice finally delivers ( honestly I think it was the paper stock that didn't work for him before) Immonen delivers smooth effortless looking pincels, that just work so well for Superman, Dan Jergens only does covers and issue 100, but he makes his time on art memorable. The rest of the Superman issues were guest pincelled by the great master Gil Kane! His Superman is nothing short of a masterpice. Finally Bog and Jank ren wild turning in classic covers and striking interiors.

The Story is also good.

Kenny Braverman, is villain that had been missing for some time sense Crisis. He fill the hole that Lex Luthor left. Humiliated by Clark ad kids, he wants nothing more then revenge!

He comes so close to it.
