Who a person is
has to matter more than who
you want them to be.

their eyes - “What’s wrong? You could have

If you knew you were going to die in a year or less, what would you start doing differently?
More than I’d like to admit. Generally speaking, I’d try to spend less time working and more time doing what I enjoy with people I love. I would also try to put my stubbornness aside, be less passive and more forward with how I feel and what I want.
P.S. These asks are heavy, y’all 😭
You should write about friends who dont even seem like your friends. Friends who you help with anything and everything and they barely even listen to your stories. Friends who pretend.
Thanks for the recommendation! I will add it to my list.
How do we know if we’re doing the right thing? Like what if a choice we make has a positive consequence in one regard yet an unforeseen negative consequence in another?
I’d be lying if I said I knew the answer to this one. I guess I just try to determine what is truly important to me (values, interests, people, goals) and make decisions that bring me closer to each of those things. Will there be collateral damage caused by some of my decisions? Undoubtedly. I also expect I’ll sometimes be adversely impacted by others’ decisions. The “right” thing to me may be the “wrong” thing to you. I’m not certain that an objective, concrete answer exists.
Guilt drips from my pores and pools on the floor like evidence of my recklessness. As if I never noticed the agony I was causing, like I was blind to the casualties around me. Pleading for deliverance from my abiding ineptness is no longer an option I can claim with clear conscience. Some say it’s better to keep closed lips and plead the fifth. I say that I am guilty and beckon the retribution forthwith.

I am causing you. I can’t
do this anymore.

20,000 breaths
a day for 21,535 days.
Breaths that fueled
laughter and running
and crying and kissing.
Breaths that made
promises and breaths
that broke them.
Breaths that saw
children born
and breaths that saw
them grow.
A lifetime worth of
swift intakes,
gentle sighs,
deep exhales...
A medley of
430,700,000 breaths
and then suddenly
nothing.
