GOD this scene really struck me when it happened, I have had this wip sketched out since it happened! So I have spent a lot of time shoving little details in here, and getting this just right.

The bottom pose of Occtis is based on Giovanni Dupré dying Abel (yes Abel from Cain and Abel), which felt fitting for Occtis's story of being betrayed by his family.

On the bottom I drew the soul of Pin, which is why he doesn't have his little button eyes. IDK why but his soul resting there reminded me of all the pets who refuse to leave their owners even in death.

The birds, I realized after finishing this should've been nightingales, but with the amount of times magpies were mentioned in this series I think we can all forgive my mistakes LOL.

Basic setting stuff

Ama and Naph are Jayce and Viktor apprentices. Jayce and Viktor run a small magic supply shop called “the wild use” where they sell magical supplies, herbs, and make magical disability aids.

They started the shop together after Jayce was nearly banished for pushing the limits of “allowed” magic, as none of his magic is directly Medical or applied to the skin but he toes a line. Viktor, an apprentice under Heimerdinger ( who is basically Beldaruit) argued for Jayce’s devices. A such Viktor was assigned to essentially be Jayce’s watchful eye, to ensure their devices never stepped to far.

These two work extremely well together, and the store stays within the magical laws.

Year 1 they get a cat. They started having Viktor cat (rio) but in year one Viktor finds Blitz ( a cat with a severly broken leg) who he and Jayce build a small contraption (go look up cat wheel chairs to get a visual idea) to help him more easily move around.

About 2 years in they take in ama, and then a year later Naph. Neither of the two ever intended to have apprentices but they love those kids like their own.

Cut to ama and Naph thinking these two are married and just weirdly trying to hide if for a while. At some point they definitely ask and they’re both really cagey about it (both are pinning but surely won’t admit it).

To keep the timeline similar to cannon at year 7 of their partnership (they’re had amazing 5 years, and Naph 4) Viktor a condition beings to deteriorate. Which spurs Jayce into 1) confessing and 2) Jayce and Viktor stepping purposely into forbidden magic.

It starts with Viktor large back tattoo to help straighten his spine, as the external brace isn’t helping enough anymore. It will eventually end in them creating a series on sigils to go on Viktor chest to help with his lung condition. They attempt to hide these things for a long as possible from the kids but they only lasts so long.

Okay so this piece was a monster but god DAMN a I proud of it. I wanted to get a feel for the jayvik abode so I had to draw it. I figured these two inventive men would have to run a magic supply shop in the WHA universe it just makes sense to me! I wanted to include as many nods to the arcane hence the anomaly imagery in viktors coat and painted on the walls. I also couldn't help myself and made a hexcrystal style lamp :D

I designed this in mind with this being before viktor becomes a brimmed hat, when he and jayce are very above the board making magical devices to help people. It's hard to see in this piece but viktor is wearing his back brace, but I designed it to work kind of similar to the knights moralis banners

The basics

Of the two of them (Jayce and Viktor) we all always knew Viktor would be the one to test forbidden magic. Cause I think he sees how unfair and limiting it is for magic that could clearly help people to be kept away just because it could be twisted for evil.
