GENERAL RULES ( + INTERACTION GUIDE BELOW!).
the timing of my replies is very sporadic due to a multitude of factors — usually pertaining to my real life stuff and physical + mental health, among other things — and does not reflect my interest in you or our threads. i usually try to be very sincere about my mutualship and follow people i see myself writing with in the long run, i can’t be the type of roleplay partner who responds frequently/instantenously and i’m really sorry for that.
on the contrary, i’m more than happy to find rp partners who are cool with cycles of distance and closeness, starting multiple threads, and dropping previous threads to focus on the ones that spark joy. i don’t mind if you drop threads without a word or reply late, so long we are interacting in other ways, in or out of roleplay, and i’m not the one constantly reaching out and getting radio silence in return. regardless, i’m a multi-threader kind of gal, since i’m good at starting new stuff but struggle to keep up with things long-term.
you may talk to me out of roleplay via tumblr personal messages or discord, but please be aware that i’m not the best at keeping up with conversations, plotting is not my strong suit, and i have a limited social battery and energy. i am able to plot out threads, discuss queries, and chat casually here and there, so it’s okay to message me — just please try not to take it personally if i respond late or don’t respond at all, that really is not the case. i generally don’t roleplay on discord, but i’m open to the idea if we’re mutuals and you’re going to take a break from tumblr for any reason. on your end, there is never any expectation to reply fast or consistently, both in and out of roleplay.
i prefer to be mutuals-only, i’m okay with personal blogs of my friends interacting with my roleplay blogs — but not outright strangers. non-rp blogs may interact with my posts for the most part. please don’t reblog roleplay threads that aren’t yours, thank you.
i tag posts using this format: “[word] tw” and i also use “#word” or "“#*word” tags for my posts across my roleplay blogs, feel free to censor them + let me know what you need tagged within reason. i generally do not follow people who don’t tag consistently, especially their nsfw posts — in or out of character, whatever it is, if it’s sexual or suggestive in nature, please tag it anyhow and i’ll be able to filter it; i also would kindly ask you to tag the username when you answer someone’s ask, because tumblr’s block & filtering system is messed up. there is no pressure or judgement if you don’t tag like this, i hope you live your best life, i only ask mutuals of this so the filter tag/post content feature can do its thing, you know? so, in extension, i’m unlikely to follow roleplay blogs who are explicitly smut focused or feature content that i’m not comfortable with to stay in my lane and respect theirs.
i’m duplicate-friendly, i’m okay with interacting with other portrayals of my canon muses, as well as interacting with different portrayals of the same characters. the only thing i don’t like to replicate is ships; if i have a ship with a canon character, i will not ship with other portrayals of that canon character for as long as the ship is ongoing.
i tend to soft-block and hard-block liberally, it’s usually not personal most of the time, though i try not to drop long-term mutuals/writing partners without a heads-up, depending on the context and matter. i generally don’t follow roleplay blogs that i don’t see being able to write with, whether it be because of the likely incompatibility between us, our muses, our fandoms, and so on. i also don’t interact with characters who are canonically misogynistic, a creep, or bigoted in any way. i care about dashboard curation and respecting my and other people’s comfort zones, and it’s okay to have different dynamics with different folks.
i’m very open to crossovers, though i’m not very familiar with most fandoms outside of the ones i dabble in, and i generally don’t write new verses for my muses + opt for the “merged universes”/“isekai” method of crossover, though i understand that’s not always easy to work out for most characters on the fly, so i’ll try to adapt to your character and meet you halfway however i can.
on your end, i don’t expect you to know my characters well or know much about comics, so long you can work with the information i provide regarding my portrayal of my characters, honestly speaking. likewise, i’ll respect your portrayal and what headcanons or nuances you prefer for your characters. just please don’t godmod, assume my characters’ actions/motivations, or put my muses in situations that they wouldn’t be, i usually need more creative liberty / open spaces to work with.
my characters are generally multi-ship unless stated otherwise; i’m not a ship-forward person usually, i’d rather we write with each other for a while and let our characters’ bond develop organically over time, impulsive-shipping or shipping based on plot doesn’t really work for me anymore. i also generally feel more comfortable writing f/f ships, being a lesbian myself, though i’m open to other kinds of ships if it works for my characters.
i write smut sometimes via +18 side-blogs on tumblr, but it’s not very often and i generally write it only with people i trust and feel comfortable discussing or writing mature topics with. in other words, writing smut isn’t something i can do impulsively or on the fly; even if we have a ship, please don’t assume that automatically means i’m okay with writing smut with you. again, this is not anything personal, just an assertion of where my comfort zone lies.
formatting wise, i generally don’t use icons or graphics in my threads and i try to match your style + accommodate to your needs if you have any. i personally prefer to write in small-caps, bold (and sometimes colour) my dialogue, and use british spelling. i would find it more comfortable if you use the default font size and not apply the small text effect on your replies in our threads, but again, it’s not a deal-breaker if you format your threads in your own way!
my name is sans, i’m a south-asian queer atheist born in 2005 and i use she/her pronouns. i’m a huge fan of marvel & dc comics and graphic design is my passion. i used to be on quotev, but i have migrated to tumblr in 2024 after the shutdown of the feed. thank you for reading thus far, i hope you have a wonderful week!
RULES SPECIFIC TO #SPECTRACLE:
in my portrayal, alison blaire is a lesbian (though publicly unlabelled) and i will not ship with male characters. i recognise her canon love interests, but i really don’t ship her with any of them and i prefer not to discuss these ships much, there’s not a lot going on there for me. additionally, she’s in her mid thirties in my portrayal usually, and i won’t ship with characters she’s known when they were a child/teenager — or characters who are younger than 23 years.
again, in my portrayal, i’ve retconned out the entire history of dazzler’s history as a superhero; she’s never been a member of the x-men or any other team, i usually just write her as a singer-celebrity who’s often dragged into these unsavoury situations or willingly going along with her friends on their missions. she’s not a superhero officially and she never has been; that said, i do say that she’s been there for the ride and stand by her canon interactions with other characters (outback x-men, x-treme x-men, a-force, and so on), i just recontextualise things a little.
dazzler is an a-list singer who’s famous worldwide, successful, and financially well-off, while i also acknowledge her past struggles a lot, especially owing to her status as a mutant woman. i don’t put her in combat situations often nor do i write her as someone spoiled or negatively influenced by materialism, but i will not downplay her gifts and achievements.
i have read most if not all of alison’s comics and i continue to keep up with her new ones, i strive to stay true to the spirit of her canon while also incorporating my own headcanons and cherry-pick stuff as i find fitting or fun. no worries if you don’t know dazzler’s trivia or headcanons in-depth, i’m always happy to clarify or clear up anything confusing.
INTERACTION GUIDE / SUGGESTIONS FOR #SPECTRACLE:
alison blaire is very social, loves to meet or hang out with people from every walk of life, and she’s all over the place across the multiverse, both literally and otherwise. she’s canonically dimension-hopped a lot and has a wide variety of friends including villains, too; thus, i find her the most versatile character to write especially with new roleplay partners, since she will chat up and befriend anybody within reason.
in relation to dazzler, your muses may be:
friend at any level of closeness;
a fellow mutual or a friend of a friend (she’d know almost anybody in earth 616 by now);
colleague in the entertainment industry;
a foe or opponent, especially based on canon;
former colleague (she’s done a lot of part-time jobs in the past);
former classmate (she’s done her schooling in the fictional town of gardendale in long island, then graduated magna cum laude from a pre-law program from a university in new york city, then she spent one year at a law school in nyc before dropping out);
ex-lover (please talk to me before going with this);
fan of her music, or dislikes it, or ambivalent towards it (your muses don’t have to like or support or know her music, it’s fine!);
working for her, like as her security detail or manager, if it fits;
and more! the limits don’t exist :)
though i’d say the chances of your muse knowing alison as kids are pretty low, considering her childhood was very sheltered and she doesn’t go to her hometown for a reason.
the chances of our muses being roommates are pretty low since dazzler lives alone, but i’m not entirely opposed to it, depending on their circumstances!
and some places your muses may find dazzler, including but not limited to:
bar, nightclub, gay/lesbian clubs, restaurants or food-related establishments of all sorts, etc;
arcades, shopping malls, discotheques, parks, city streets, various events, pride marches, anywhere with people, really;
driving, whether it’s your muse or dazzler behind the wheel;
anybody’s home, whether it’s your muse’s, alison’s, or a mutual friend’s;
concert venues, backstage, dressing/vanity room, tour vans, filming sets, anywhere related to her line of work + anywhere related to your muse’s line of work, if possible;
anything related to mutants — krakoa, xavier’s, the headquarters of any x-team where she’d be allowed, and so on;
other earths or dimensions, like mojoverse or your muse’s earth if they’re not from 616;
sometimes, combat or dangerous situations, like conflicts against sentinels, anti-mutants, paps/stalkers/assailants/villains, and so on;
dynamics i generally like for alison, but it’s not limited here or required;
anything platonic! really, friendly or inimical or whatever, i’m always down for it;
work related, like if your muse is alison’s co-worker or bodyguard;
i’m fine with rivalries and conflicts, so long we’re clear we’re okay with our muses fighting and why they’re doing so?
