It's back.
Check this out, y'all. Nicole Drespel and Shaun Diston have re-launched a UCB NY podcast by improv nerds for improv nerds. Iâve listened to the first episode and itâs great: personal and passionate and informed and occasionally very âinside.â Any obsessed improv nerd could relate. Very cool!
Sometimes more, sometimes less. We donât believe any improv troupe sets out to make inhuman characters, but we focus on keeping human-ness at a forefront when we improvise, because weâre human-ish, too. The photo naturally is by Michael Astrauskas, and itâs of Nick & Frank performing in endgamesimprovâs Saturday show âSF Tonight.â
Today was the first session of the expressive arts therapy course. One of the exercises that I really enjoyed was one that involved simple improv drama work. It was lovely to get back in touch with theatre after a few months.
I realised that I really enjoy physical theatre: expressing, moving,...
These brave people are doing you an incredible favor by listening to a goddamned word you say, you had better treat them with respect and love.

A few months ago, The Magnet Theater turned ten years old. This is hard for me to believe, Iâve been there since the beginning. The Magnet remains one of the most innovative and interesting places to perform comedy in NYC.
The good folks at the Magnet (specifically Suliman Beg and Kelly Donahue)...
The freaking best, âSearch Historyâ at UCB Theatre (Franklin)! My favorite part of the week, for sure! Always super hilarious! Love these ladies! đđźđđźđđđ at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre - Los Angeles

Today, I photographed the improv theatre group KamchĂĄtka. They certainly livened up the city square in Bergen! Hilarity ensued. Experience them again Tuesday June 9th in the city square! #festspillene15 #FiBmoment
Encountering a student with disabilities requires a high amount of sensitivity; there are going to be things that this improvisor simply cannot do. It is not a reflection on their intelligence, discipline, or spirit, it is simply a limitation of what their body allows of them. You canât ask a...
Had so much fun doing an improv class at MerlinWorks today. Thank you to my buddy Steven for recommending it. I canât wait to dive in more.Â
This phrase has really stuck with us, and itâs central to our philosophy.  Itâs not that we set out to obey or disobey improv ârules,â they just arenât whatâs important.  So we end up following some, end up breaking someâthey donât really matter. Photo by Michael J. Astrauskas, from last monthâs âBig Time Live!â  Frankie G. is on the left, and on the right is Max McCal from endgamesimprov.
How to Speak Hip is a hilarious language lesson by Del Close and John Brent. This was converted from vinyl to digital by: Skeyelab Music
Dig this.
If youâve met me or read anything I write, it will be little surprise that two of my favourite subjects are language and improv. Well, this is a classic album from improv pioneer Del Close. I remember hearing a track from this years ago, probably on the Doctor Demento Radio Show, a long time before I had even heard of Del. Iâve been obsessed with it ever since.
Itâs funny, yes. But I also think itâs one of the smartest and most insightful expositions on the nature and foibles of language that Iâve ever heard.
Given the amount of discussion of the elements and evolution of language and slang and neologisms (Thatâs ânew wordsâ for all you easy-lingo cats.), I thought this was something I should share with some you peeps kicking here on the tumblr. Something to smash your brains!
So click the link Jack and Jill and Jall too, give the groove a triangle press. And check some of the lingo-filled eyeball interfaces from the package that the blog-god dropped on their page.
Maybe play it for some freaky people and have a scene at your pad.Â
