1. the climb, beauty & the beast (one of the most underrated in this show! i adore the arrangement), home, wouldn’t change a thing & this is me. honourable mentions: now or never & it’s on
2. this one’s a lot harder but what comes to mind is: over again, dreams don’t die, maybe this time, rising, love you forever, born to be brave, in a heartbeat, wondering, second chance & then one of nini’s solos, whatever one i’m feeling at the moment.
3. great question, i think this is quite a close call for me! i’d say it’s between hsm & frozen
4. ej’s entire storyline with duke, his father etc. should’ve 100% been explored more on an individual basis rather than being used as a plot device. while i mostly do like the way it was handled i think maybe jet & maddox’s sibling relationship could’ve been explored more. kourtney & jet should’ve been explored more as a dynamic if they really wanted to hint at them being in a relationship. lastly, to alter your question slightly i think seblos’ financial differences/seb’s slight insecurity in their relationship would’ve served as a better conflict point than the cheating storyline. literally ANYTHING could’ve been better than that. i’m sure there’s others i’m missing but that’s what’s on my mind.
5. i’ve been thinking for ages but for some reason my mind is completely blank i’ve not watched this show in ages 😭 the only thing that comes to mind is smaller storylines. again i’m going to slightly alter the question but maybe the whole thing with seb not having come out to his dad? i think it was a lot bc seblos JUST had a major conflict that lasted almost the whole season and they kind of just shoved another one in the end ? i 100% think it’s an important storyline, it’s a real experience that people go through but it would’ve made more sense for it be in season 1, the major conflict in s4 or it be an ongoing storyline across the show that then concluded at the end maybe.
6. love this question!! i’d either want to be friends with nini & kourtney, that would be fun or in the og camp shallow lake friendship circle and be best friends with ej. i’d at least have the heart to help him out while he’s directing the show with all the other things going on (e.g. his idiot dad) 😭 poor guy needed someone to guide him with his approach to things and maybe his s3 ending could’ve been a little better and little bit more hopeful.
7. honestly i don’t think i’d want to be enemies with any of them 😭 they all at the end of the day are people with good intentions despite their mistakes and i’d be upset to be on any of their bad sides. that being said maybe lily is a dangerous person to be enemies with but i’d also certainly not want to be friends with anyone who laughs at someone tripping during their audition and tries to sabotage another school’s play for the sake of wanting an advantage against them in a competition …
8. controversially i had actually never watched any of the hsm films before starting the show 🫣 i grew up a nickelodeon kid so i never watched disney channel or anything. i’m not sure if it majorly affected my viewing experience?? like there may have been references i missed but i wasn’t too confused watching the show. that being said i did watch all of the hsm films before s3 came out and i love them very much 🫶🏽 me and my friends are actually thinking about going to see the production of hsm starring kaycee stroh this summer!
9. again, i had never watched any of the camp rock films (and still haven’t) bc i didn’t watch disney channel growing up. honestly i think it didn’t affect my viewing experience much but it did mean i wasn’t familiar with the songs and also that particular scene gina referenced when they watched the film in 03x04. again there were probably references towards the films that i missed not having watched them. honestly the camp rock covers are some of my favourites from s3 so maybe i’ll get around to watching it now that there’s a third one coming out!
10. gina for sure specifically her s3 style (with an honourable mention to val’s style too) my personal style is very feminine/pastel colours and i could see some of her outfits being in my own wardrobe!
11. yes! my favourite is the quinceñero episode, seblos is my favourite ship from the show and that is very carlos/seblos centred episode 🫶🏽
12. mm no, and this is not just my bias towards other ej ships like portwell but to me (similarly to big red x antoine) i feel like it was just a relationship they put together for the sake of having every character minus emmy in a relationship at the end of the show. i’m the biggest fan of the friends to lovers trope but i liked how they were represented as a genuine male/female friendship that was purely platonic and i also think that having them be together just proves gina right with her initial insecurity towards val in s3.
13. yes i watched most of the show in real-time! the only one i didn’t was s1, i started the show the day after the first episode of s2 came out!
14. this is kind of related to ej but i think some people in this fandom genuinely act like some of these characters committed crimes with the way they throw pitchforks at some of the characters. don’t get me wrong it’s okay to dislike some of them or call them out for their mistakes but some people rarely give them grace after growing from them/hold grudges against them even after a character has done a full 180 over the course of the show. at the end of the day they’re teenagers/young adults at a time of their life where they are figuring out themselves and making bad decisions/mistakes as well as growing from them is a part of that (for the record i am not including lily in this since she did not grow from what she did at all and i wouldn’t consider her actions mistakes). i actually think one of the strengths of this show is how the characters grow from the mistake (in most cases). one of my favourite examples of this is gina with her scene with ej at the end of s4, i love the fact that even after moving on from ej she still has the maturity to go back and apologise to him for how she reacted to him hiding st. louis from her once she realises she’s doing the same thing to ricky. i thought it was very heartfelt and it was a nice way to give closure to portwell despite the way i disliked how they were handled. so yeah overall, i think sometimes the characters deserve a bit more empathy after growth and they’re not as evil as some people make them out to be.
