Mall Hangout... Or a doki doki date? Tenma x Ryouhei (Kill Blue)
A/N *Author’s Notes: Now you might be thinking, who the hell is Ryouhei? He is Tenma’s childhood friend who looks kind of like Kenma (Haikyuu). I find the ship appealing as a thought. And yes, I know he has a crush on Chisato in canon and I do think it’s cute, but it would be remiss of me to dismiss possible BL fantasizing.

So most of this was generated with AI bc I was too lazy to write up a whole short story myself. I did some tweaks and add things in myself. It took so long to generate an image from the original episode image to insert Ryouhei into. I initially wanted him to wear black, but I gave up and settled for him having the same fit as Ogami had. I tried to simplifying Tenma’s speech and adding in more banter. I also added in a conclusion as to why they went to a bookstore together that I thought was cute.
Now, onto the story!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The shopping mall was busier than either of them expected. Families wandered between storefronts, music drifted from overhead speakers, and every few minutes Tenma confidently declared he knew exactly where they were going before immediately leading them somewhere else. "We've passed that fountain three times," Ryouhei pointed out. "It's a different fountain." "It isn't." Tenma folded his arms. "The mall's just designed badly." Ryouhei laughed. "Sure." They stopped near a directory, both pulling out their phones at the same time. "Mine says the bookstore is upstairs," Ryouhei said. Tenma frowned at his own screen. "Mine says take the escalator behind us." "Let's compare." They stood shoulder to shoulder, holding their phones side by side. "You forgot to rotate the map," Ryouhei said. "...Oh." Tenma turned the screen around. "That explains a lot." "It explains why we've been walking in circles for twenty minutes." "I was testing your navigation skills." "Convenient excuse." Tenma slipped his phone back into his pocket before looking Ryouhei up and down. "Why'd you wear such a plain shirt?" Ryouhei blinked. "What's wrong with a white T-shirt?" "It's boring." "It's comfortable." "You look like you forgot to finish getting dressed." Ryouhei raised an eyebrow before looking Tenma over instead. The red shirt layered neatly over a black turtleneck made him stand out even in the crowd, and the brown shoulder bag resting against his side somehow made him look even more put together. "You're one to talk." "What?" "You dressed up way too much." "I did not." "You absolutely did. Red shirt, black turtleneck, nice bag..." Ryouhei gestured at him. "You look like you're about to model for a clothing brand." Tenma smirked. "Good. People should recognize greatness." "We're going to a bookstore." "Exactly. Someone there might appreciate fashion." Ryouhei shook his head, unable to hide a smile. "And you do? Meanwhile I'm apparently underdressed." "Yes." "And you're overdressed." They stared at each other for a moment before both chuckled. "Come on," Ryouhei said, turning his phone toward the escalator. "According to both our maps, it's this way." Tenma nodded. "Fine. But if we get lost again, I'm branding your t-shirt." "How is that my shirt's fault?" "It’s the wearer’s fault. You’ll have to parade around with the message on your back like a ‘kick me’ sign. That way, it can't be misconstrued!" Ryouhei sighed as he followed Tenma onto the escalator. "You really will blame anything except yourself." "Of course." Even if they spent half the afternoon taking wrong turns, neither of them seemed to mind. Somehow wandering the mall together had become just as enjoyable as whatever they'd originally planned to do. They eventually reached the place and reached for the latest issue of Shounen Jump, reading it together like a couple little boys again.
