also like. idk i think people are unnerved by littles in systems and age regression etc in part by just not understanding what is actually going on.
i can only speak to my own experiences obviously and if you imagine a type of person they probably exist, but for me it’s mostly how i experience and process emotions. that’s the core of it.
my (molly, child alter) average experience is that compared to my adult alters my emotions are bigger and simpler. they’re harder for me to understand but also show very clearly. i embody myself very strongly when i don’t have to be masking (as another alter or just being more put together). This gives me a freedom to let loose easier than my adult counterparts so when we’re tired i tend to come out, it’s a release. I get to experience my emotions without having to manage them so much!
So it’s not a “ew, this adult is acting like a child” I’m acting like myself. I know fully well there are times when the appropriate thing to do is to keep your emotions in check but that’s something I do a lot and takes a lot of energy.
honestly i think it also has a lot to do with ones own childhood and long unmet needs. as a literal kid the adults in my life taught me that unregulated big emotions = danger and being bad. i don’t know, put all that together yourself and figure out why a childhood like that would create compartmentalization of big emotions
