I'm so, so emotional! I went to sleep with a smile on my face and woke up with a smile on my face! What a beautiful chapter! What incredible character development! I was moved to see how much Yoshiki has grown, how confident he is to the point of no longer hiding his own feelings!
First of all: the declaration of love in return! We used to pray for days like these!!! I always knew, of course, that Yoshiki loves 'Hikaru', that was quite obvious in his actions and in the way he became attached to the little monster, but to hear him finally say it back, with so much emotion on his face, that he loves him... what a moment! What joy! These boys deserved this after everything! It's the pinnacle of character development: an insecure human boy who hated himself, but who, upon finding, welcoming, and accepting a monster that defies all human standards (and prejudices!), learns to love not only the monster, but himself! From the moment Yoshiki decided that 'Hikaru' would be his home, no matter what happened, I knew this moment would come. They love each other more than anything, and it doesn't matter what anyone else says anymore!!!
Secondly: Yoshiki thinking that 'Hikaru' is rejecting him – we have to remember that 'Hikaru' is terrified after being tortured and, mainly, 'Hikaru' thought, until then, that Yoshiki hated him! – and then Yoshiki decides to tell 'Hikaru' what the monster means to him! How beautiful! It's a summary of everything we've seen: for Yoshiki, 'Hikaru' represents home, 'Hikaru' brought him a feeling that he can finally belong to someone, to someone who loves him, regardless of any label, regardless of what anyone says!
Thirdly: Yoshiki's desire!!!! Yoshiki freeing 'Hikaru' from making wishes, saying that 'Hikaru' is not a tool, not an object, he is a being in his own right who doesn't deserve to be tortured and used the way he was! Yoshiki is truly the only person in the world who has ever been so kind and caring towards 'Hikaru', this must be so meaningful to him, who was used to being used and hated. My boys, I'm so proud ❤️
And finally: Yoshiki returning half of 'Hikaru' and 'Hikaru' accepting it!! I always felt sad when I thought about the sacrifice 'Hikaru' was making by breaking half of himself, weakening himself, becoming more vulnerable, all in the name of the fear of losing Yoshiki. My adorable little monster with a people-pleaser complex 🥹 The scene is beautiful, of course, and has many meanings, but it was also a kind of mutilation and sacrifice. Yoshiki realizes this when he discovers that if that piece were broken, 'Hikaru' would be too. And here we are: the moment when Yoshiki returns half, in a beautiful symbolic gesture that says so much! Above all, it says that Yoshiki accepts 'Hikaru' exactly as he is, accepts the monster completely, without mutilation, without sacrifices! It also says that 'Hikaru' can be himself, that Yoshiki loves him exactly as the monster he is, and that's all 'Hikaru' needed to hear!
