Spaniel Towel

Obviously, in a podcast setting, especially one with a 'tell all' conceit like Hard Launch, there could be funny or interesting annecdotes we haven't heard yet- like for example we've heard about when Phil and PJ met, but how about when PJ and Dan first met? I think what could be really interesting though, is the ways in which their respective careers are similar, but also different. Like, PJ and Phil are both from the same era of youtube, and PJ and Dan have both said that Phil was an inspiration for them in the early days. They have seen youtube change in huge ways over the course of their careers. They were also, of course, part of the same fandom, with PJ being in the 'fantastic foursome'. Obviously DnP got it in the face pretty hard with the phandom, but on a few rare occasions PJ mentioned shit that he'd gotten from fans in that era too. It would be interesting to hear the perspectives of people who were in the epicentre of that vs slightly more on the perifary, or if we are being really spicy, if it ever effected their relationship. Back in 'the day', they were both very successful, with Phil, Dan and PJ hitting one million subs (although PJ took longer and stayed at that level), but how they've evolved since then they've diverged a lot. They were always pretty different in terms of content obviously, but I'd argue it's gotten even more different. Dan and Phil have had so many brand updates, they are catagorised into eras- the main being the creation, ending, revival and complete rebranding into 'Dan and Phil 2.0' of DanandPhilGAMES. Of course, not all of their 3 million subscribers show up for their vids, and they're not kings of youtube like they used to be, but they still pull pretty big numbers, and are relatively concerned with stuff like metrics and visability and sponsorships. PJ on the other hand, has probably objectively terrible metrics, where despite having a million subs, these days his videos rarely get above double digits K, but he hasn't really had any kind of major content shift, and seems content doing what ever he wants and having a small core audiece show up. I'm not even pitting the two against each other, I just think it could be interesting to hear about how they landed on the choices that led them to where their respective channels are today. Probably lastly, both Dan and Phil and PJ and Sophie are in the position of being partners in the creative, buisness and personal sense, with their partnership being pretty interwoven with their content- DnP in the very obvious, public facing way, but with PJ and Sophie there's the fact that basically every Kick the PJ video has Sophie behind the camera. That's a relatively unique position to be in. Dan and Phil's relationship was obviously a difficult and kinda unique situation that required them to deny, and then publically anounce it. PJ and Sophie to my knowledge have never publically 'aknowledged' anything, and so I guess have never felt they had to or wanted to, which lead to a small ammount of fan speculation, but nowhere near the level of Phan. I think that makes for an interesting comparisson, if they wanted to go in that direction. Also, we've seen the process behind their creative collaborations from PJ's end, and the final products in Dan and Phil's content, but a discussion about the ins and outs of those collaborations with both parties could be really neat.
