I’m playing some shows with Moloch this weekend.

also on the whole female drummer thing like obvs i have very strong feelings on this and analysing it from a feminist perspective is so so important like when i started playing drums i was too scared to make too much noise, or to hit too hard, i had a really rigid like effortless looking way of playing i suppose for the first few years because i was worried about how i looked while playing drums like i was worried about looking manly in some way. i remember noticing my forearms getting bigger and stronger but i resented it  because i thought i looked “too manly” and I’m so glad i didn’t let that shit inhibit me anymore because now i smash the shit out of the drums harder than most guys i see play, i’m all over the fucking place, my hands are covered in blisters and callouses, in the summer i’ll boldly play in shorts and a vest top no matter how self conscious i would have felt even the year before because i’m doing my thing and making some gritty faces and i love coming off stage soaked in sweat and receiving handshakes of respect from my peers and compliments that rarely these days end with “..for a girl”. it’s taken a fucking long time for me to get to this place but honestly fuck everyone, be a badass, do you’re thing no matter how messy or “unfeminine” you feel doing it
