so like i haven't posted on this blog in... hold on. a year and a half?? i thought it was longer than that tbh. i checked my notifs once and saw that someone booped me this past halloween and i am both shocked and kind of honored that someone was still thinking of this blog after all that time!! i forget who it was but shoutout to them, hope they're doing well if they see this 💖 that's not why i'm posting again though (or not the main reason at least).
i'm posting again because i honestly haven't played overwatch at all since probably a few weeks before overwatch 2 was released and it's been even longer since i was really actively invested in it and engaged with the fandom. but i miss it a lot. i miss mercy and i miss pharah, symmetra, hanzo and genji, and all my faves and i miss the genuine joy the game used to give me, despite blizzard's countless missteps. not many people i used to follow for overwatch content post about it anymore, but i still see posts about it on my dash sometimes and every single time i think, man, i wanna get to know these new characters.
and i know the game is free, so i could easily just pick it up and play it. but i've never really enjoyed the FOMO that comes with battle passes and i keep feeling worried that after all this time i'll have not only missed too much, but that it'll also be too overwhelming to jump into and figure everything out at this point, from all the entirely new heroes to the mechanics that changed from the original overwatch. also, everybody is playing marvel rivals now and i'm sorry but you would have to pay me to care at all about marvel 😭 first-person shooters aren't a genre i normally even play, there was just something about overwatch specifically that really clicked with me even outside of my love for the characters. so, is it still worth trying out again in the year 2025...??
