Currently not writing, because life's too busy, but still thinking about our favourite Dwarves and today about epithets.

A popular headcanon for Fíli as the king is an epithet like "the golden" or something similar, which is very beautiful and also a nice nod to his hair. And as much as I love picturing King Fíli as the kind and warm dawn rising over Erebor to deal with things a whole lot different than his uncle, who was a good king but deeply stricken by all the things life did to him, I'd love for another direction for Fíli.

Kind, sweet Fíli smiling nervously at his people, still getting used to the heavy crown on his head, when a few weeks after his coronation riot erupts. An assassination attempt. And, guess what, Fíli might have a whole lot of guards, but he has even more knives on his person, and so in the end he stands in front of his people, covered in blood, mostly unharmed. A sight to behold.

And thus, Fíli the Crimson is born.

Known to be incredibly kind and generous, spreading wealth within the mountain and beyond, caring for the poor and sick, being calm and fair in negotiations, full of progressive ideas, and absolutely not taking any shit thrown his way. Always riding in the front right into battle, his sword raised; known as the king with the least assassinations attempts, not only for being beloved but also for being a notoriously hard to kill bastard, who stabs first and asks later; and within years covered in scars, but when he smiles the sun is rising.
