missy is exactly the correct response to "what would the master do if they regenerated into a body perceived by humans as a woman". you must understand that the master finds human bigotry funny and loves to dress up. she's doing human gender as drag and leaning into the misogyny because it's fucking hilarious to her, right down to the name missy
wait i forgot to post this
When doctor who comes back it will be nununuwho
what personal space: a photoset

killing myself BACK ON
I’m losing my mind over this image in what world did they need this photo
I can never relate to people who are like "I hate Kai Winn she's such a BITCH". I have so much reverence for her insane audacity and brazenness, and I think it's understated how funny she is. The insanely rude and out of pocket things she says while smiling like an angel are hilarious.
"Feel free to stay as long as you want, even a week if necessary :)" I would CRY
Archie Panjabi as the rani was legitimately such a stellar casting choice, I need her to do big finish stuff and have them just ignore the fact that a big cgi monster ate her. If we can breeze past all the masters “deaths” with a wave of the hand we can do it for the queen of amoral science projects too.

I'm not saying I dislike the "having to wait for and earn the captaincy" storyline. There's obviously a lot of really interesting stories there and great character beats that have resulted in some of my favorite Trek characters. But there is an extremely noticeable pattern in which show leads need character development to move up the ranks
And who is presented as inherently qualified from the beginning
And before anyone mentions her, yes, I know we have Captain Freeman, but she's not the lead of her show
Everytime this post gets a note I remember the person that accused me of putting Kirk on here "three times to make it look like a bigger issue." First of all, it would still be an issue even if I did only use one Kirk, though I do think tos and aos Kirk are different enough characters with different enough storylines to both be included. Second of all. Pike is such a cardboard cutout of a man people don't even recognize him as his own character, and that's hilarious to me personally
NOG IS CRYING WHO ALLOWED THIS
Here’s what Aron Eisenberg had to say about that scene, “It wasn’t written that way. The script just said that Nog gets emotional. When we were ready to shoot, I realized that I had to cry. It was the defining moment of what the episode was all about. You finally see what’s inside that’s gotten Nog to this point. Up until then, you didn’t know why he was behaving that way. I grew that day as an actor.”
Eisenberg has also said that he’s been contacted by military veterans who told him his performance was very true to life. In The 50 Year Mission: The Next 25 Years, there’s a comment from a former soldier on how DS9 was the series that helped him recover from his combat experiences and he recommends the series to other former soldiers.

Federation Phasers and Pistols in Star Trek - A slightly comprehensive guide
--------
There are four types of standard issue Federation phasers we see handled by our crews throughout the many shows that we get good looks and information on. Phase-pistols, Type I, Type II, and phase rifles. Wanna learn about space guns? Here's the post for you.
PHASE-PISTOL
Distinctly not a phaser, this is our earliest example of weaponry on screen in the Star Trek universe, used only in ENT.
Phase-pistols have two settings and two settings only; stun and kill. Like most phase weapons, stun could be used for tasks like starting fires, but you really had to commit to one or the other. We don't really see them, but the version we see in ENT apparently compensates for particle drift in a way previous versions did not.
MACOs onboard used a modified version of them, but we really don't get much information on exactly what the modifications were. Just that they were modified.
So what's the pros and cons? Pro, useful weapon. Con, everything else. These guys are rudimentary in comparison to the later phasers we have with very little ability beyond tasing or murdering the guy in front of you. It has its uses as a utility tool, but otherwise, I don't recommend picking one of these to defend you in battle.
from a certain point in time I've started imagining Nahla's father as Hamish Linklater and I can't seem to shake it off. like... please, I need it

One gif set per episode Hacks | 1x01
My thoughts on the new SNW trailer:
“Boldly go one step closer to where it all began.” Glad we are no longer hiding the fact that this show was never about Pike and his crew.
“You…have thought about the past and the future a great deal. But most of us live in the now.” So, like, everyone knows about Boreth now? Cool. Cool cool cool. My kingdom for Katrina Cornwell a qualified therapist.
“Don’t worry, Spock. I’m sure one day you’ll get to aim that logical mind of yours at some lucky captain.” As if Spock has had zero impact on Pike and has not once promoted logic on the Enterprise. 👍
