the best thing about buck, chris and eddie this episode is the history bleeding into everything. chris and buck just having the kind of relationship where they hug like that, and chris is like BUCK!!!! eddie commenting so casually that buck takes chris to the zoo ALL THE TIME, which speaks of a history between the three of them that goes beyond the scenes we’ve seen. buck willingly hangs out with eddie and his kid more than we know. buck knows instantly something’s wrong with eddie because he knows his best friend enough to know his expressions, the way he just checks out of that whole conversation. eddie isn’t rude, so when he lets ravi take ana???? buck KNOWS. the kind of history they share where buck can bother eddie until he just sighs like FINE and tells buck what’s up because it’s how they work. eddie knows buck doesn’t give up, he’s praised him for it, so he KNOWS that buck won’t give up on this. he doesn’t fight it, he tells buck what’s happening. buck’s romantic history, something he doesn’t talk about too much now, is something he uses. he talks about it hurting and he and eddie KNOW it hurts because they’ve talked about it. eddie will hear buck, will listen, because he knows buck’s right. because they know each other, they have history, and it shows.
