last night i finished reading vol 5 of the LN koukyuu no karasu (raven of the inner palace) (if anyone wants to talk to me about this series, please do, because i'm just dying over here) & i'm in absolute shambles because the last two volumes in physical edition won't come out until july & october (well that's what i saw on amazon)
well, i didn't read the physical editions obviously. perhaps i underestimated my reading skills because i thought after not reading a series or novel for so long, my reading comprehension skills (in this case, pacing) would be somewhat slow but oh no, i was terribly wrong because i finished all 5 vols in one single week (still slow i would say compared to my highschool days).
hopefully the digital editions (after estimating from the previous vols' last dates of releases & the gaps between physical & digital), i'm hoping will come out by may (vol 6) & august (vol 7 aka the final). i got an understanding from a post on reddit that vol 7 is definitely the best of all the vols of this series and that has made me feel really excited but also stumped out because i really wish i would read just all of them in one go.
this is the first show which prompted me to get into its LN as it was just as tempting. i'm hoping to get into kusuriya no hitorigoto (the apocathary diaries) but also thinking of putting it off as a s2 has already been announced.
the characters in this LN are just so alive & filled with depth, it almost feels like i'm looking into a deep ocean with no end. they are so likeable and realistic to the point i can feel their emotions seeping into my own heart for me to see the situation they're in through their own eyes. my favourite though out of all would be all the interactions and situations we go through to get to the current status of the relationship between onkei & tankai with my girl jusetsu. kajo & jiujiu are such beloveds of mine. banka's character growth was worthwhile to read and eisei's conflicting emotions, ah, i'm so looking forward to what will happen between him & jusetsu in the next vol.
the relationship between koshun (the emperor) & her is also something i find very interesting. you kind of want to root for them. kind of want to fight for them to be together and escape that hellhole. theirs is a kind which is more than romantic. although i would like them to end up together (which i know will not happen), i would also like to think that it would be much more beautifully melancholic if he lets her go.
if kosho & the first emperor of ran dynasty's so-called relationship 'love' was tinted with horrendous obsession & undeniable hidden fear that led to confinement and tying each other down out of selfish will then jusetsu's & koshun's relationship is of purity and true love whose root is planted in the tryst of unconditional friendship. koshun's love for jusetsu will free her of shackles and not tie her down and jusetsu's love for koshun will heal him out his deep rooted hatred and trauma from everything he experienced after his mother's & friend's death. k
(i just really needed to add this part between koshun & jusetsu, the last part before everything goes down at the end of vol 5)
had to put down my tablet, lean back against the wall & face the ceiling after reading this because i was so not prepared to feel such strong emotions
& i thought, oh yeah it's finally over, now it's business time only for jusetsu to recall this next day
i truely believe that i'm a lowkey sadist the way i'm always yearning for tragic endings like what is wrong with YOU GIRL
