Places where reality is a bit altered:
• any target • churches in texas • abandoned 7/11’s • your bedroom at 5 am • hospitals at midnight • warehouses that smell like dust • lighthouses with lights that don’t work anymore • empty parking lots • ponds and lakes in suburban neighborhoods • rooftops in the early morning • inside a dark cabinet
playgrounds at night
rest stops on highways
deep in the mountains
early in the morning wherever it’s just snowed
trails by the highway just out of earshot of traffic
schools during breaks
those little beaches right next to ferry docks
bowling alleys
unfamiliar mcdonalds on long roadtrips
your friends living room once everybody but you is asleep
laundromats at midnight
what the fuck
galeries in art museums that are empty except for you
the lighting section of home depot
stairwells
•hospital waiting rooms •airports from midnight to 7am • bathrooms in small concert venues
I just got the weirdest feeling I swear

32 ▴ See a 4D movie.
July 14th Orlando, FL
Who knew I’d get to do this so soon after this challenge started?! I actually didn’t realize that Universal Studio was FILLED with 4D movies and rides. The very first thing we went to upon entering Universal Studios was go to the Shrek show.
Shrek 4-D, The Lord of Ghost Farquad ended up being one of the shows that stood out the most on my whole trip. Who doesn’t love Shrek? Between the seat simulation of a bumpy horse ride, to the hot air of a fire breathing dragon, it was a really fun experience. The worst (read: best!) parts were when somebody sneezed (I think?) and mist was sprayed all over our faces... and then a ridiculously disgusting giant bunch of spiders came at us through the screen and we felt the tickling on the backs of our legs like spiders were crawling all over the floor.
It’s so nice that I didn’t have to go out of my way to complete this. I mean okay, Florida is a bit out of the way (1000+ miles) but it was already planned into our trip. If you haven’t experienced a 4D movie, I’d recommend it if you ever get the chance.
11 ▴ Visit a famous landmark for the first time.
“Because I’m the most touristy tourist that ever toured.”
July 12th, 2016 Metropolis, IL
Did you know Metropolis, IL is the only city named “Metropolis” in the United States? So obviously it’s the home of Superman! It’s definitely not the Metropolis we know from TV, though. No skyscrapers here! It’s at the very lowest tip of IL and it has very small-town vibes. After visiting the Superman statue (some other tourists took our photo!) we decided to go to the Superman Museum and Gift Store as well! I’m so glad we were able to stop by on our way to Florida! 101 things in 1001 days
**DETAILS TO COME**
I want to finally start this challenge and felt I needed to post it and keep it updated somewhere... since this is supposed to be a bucket list blog for Sage & I, this seemed to be an appropriate place.
First, a little bit about myself. I love doing things and I love the idea of pushing myself. Therefore, I love trying out different challenges: photo challenges, writing, 30 days, 365 days, whatever. I’ve tried a bunch. And I fail every.single.time. Why? I have severe perfectionism. If I don’t complete something perfectly, anxiety of failure takes over. My thoughts are, “Well if it’s not perfect then I might as well just stop here.” Whether I messed something up, or I missed a day and can’t catch up, whatever it is. I cannot recall one single challenge I’ve ever completed. Just recently I discovered this challenge and it spoke to me. I am confident that I will be able to complete it not only because I plan to overcome my perfectionism, but because of the loose time constraint. While I do have a deadline, I don’t feel the need to complete these tasks in order or do them at a specific rate. On average it would be one task every 10-ish days to completion. However, I can skip whole months if I need to, or complete 10 tasks in one afternoon. The relaxed time constraint on this challenge really puts my always-active mind at ease.
Before I get to the challenge, here”s a quote that was recently shared to me. I hope this helps any other perfectionists out there.
Here’s the mission & criteria:
“The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days. The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
Why 1001 Days? Many people have created lists in the past — frequently simple goals such as new year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
Goal Setting Tips
1. Be decisive. Know exactly what you want, why you want it, and how you plan to achieve it. 2. Stay focussed. Any goal requires sustained focus from beginning to end. Constantly evaluate your progress. 3. Welcome failure. Frequently, very little is learned from a venture that did not experience failure in some form. Failure presents the opportunity to learn and makes the success more worthy. 4. Write down your goals. It clarifies your thinking and reinforces your commitment. 5. Keep your goals in sight. Review them frequently, and ensure that they are always at the forefront of your thinking.”
