Make it a rule of life never to regret and never look back. Regret is an appalling waste of energy; you can’t build on it; it is only good for wallowing in.

Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that god-damn mountain.

At some point you will realize that you have done too much for someone, that the only next possible step to do is to stop. Leave them alone. Walk away. It’s not like you’re giving up, and it’s not like you shouldn’t try. It’s just that you have to draw the line of determination from desperation. What is truly yours will eventually be yours, and what is not, no matter how hard you try, will never be.

I hope that someday, somebody wants to hold you for twenty minutes straight, and that’s all they do. They don’t pull away. They don’t look at your face. They don’t try to kiss you. All they do is wrap you up in their arms, without an ounce of selfishness in it.
